Culture and People:
Culture:
Nebesnyi Culture is very religious based, as the public image is to be a Roman Catholic, and live exactly as such. The country is very strict, and almost no one has any luxuries, as the gov't is known to extort its citizens. Nebesnyian buildings are very bland and plain, and most of the Nation's Citizens are shoved into crammed slums and ghettos. However, the Clergy lives in luxury.
History:
The Country of Nebesnyi is long and storied, and it began in year 104, when an infamous prophet, Roman Yarkutov, created the foundations of Roman Catholicism and spread the word to the villages and towns of the Nebesnyi plains, which is now southern Nebesnyi. Roman spread the word of Catholicism, and a palace, the Golden Triarch, was built on the Southern end of Lake Nebesen, and a City sprung up around the palace. The city became called Goroyia, which has always been the Capital of Nebesnyi. Roman Yarkutov decided to unite those under his faith into a Empire in the year 117, which was called the Nebesnyian Empire, and placed Roman Yarkutov, only 27 years old at the helm. Roman Yarkutov ruled as Pope until Year 174, when he died at 86 years old. Following Roman Yarkutov, the country entered a 1400 year dark age. The country was constantly in a economic depression, and the military was weak, the people starved and most were homeless, and the government was corrupt. Finally, in 1503, the Nebesnyian Empire was declared war on by the Reveliean people. This war, called the Reveliean-Nebesnyian War, lasted for 287 years, neither country getting anywhere. Meanwhile, the Nebesnyians were facing conflict from the barbarians to the north of the plains. The future seemed dark until a historic war hero emerged in 1790. Evgeni Vezin, who was originally a slave, enlisted and shot up the ranks of the army due to his intelligence. Vezin won war-deciding battles in Darvoux Crossing, Mellan and Prikta, and ended the war between the Revelieans. Upon Vezin's victories in the war, he was anointed as pope in 1791, at the age of 32. Vezin ruled with an Iron fist, taking revenge on the country that once enslaved him. Vezin was brutal to the people of Nebesnyi, and caused harm. In 1827, a young Jewish scientist, Mikael Nolovitz, would change the fate of Vezin's "Reign of Terror". So, Mikael and his supporters, called the Nolovitzes, rioted in the major cities of Goroyia and Evenov. These riots lasted through the winter of 1827 and into 1828. After the government cracked down on the riots, the Nolovitzes took to armed rebellion in the summer of 1828. The Rebellion, called the Rebellion of 1828, lasted from July 1828 to May 1830. In that time, Nolovitz went out in the open to preach, claiming the government wouldn't dare touch him. For the most part, he was right. For almost two years during the insurrection, Nolovitz preached out in the open without any hassle. In April 1380, after almost two years of Rebellion, the Nebesnyian government cracked down. While Nolovitz was travelling on boat on Lake Nebesen, Nolovitz's lightly armoured fleet of two ships was ambushed by over 50 of the Nebesnyian ships. Nolovitz surrendered on April 27th, 1830, and the rebellion fizzled out and became a non-factor in early May, 1830. However, Nolovitz was going strong, despite being in prison. Nolovitz was planning alongside his fellow cellmates, many of them rebels, to break out. Upon the discovery of this by Nebesnyian officials, Nolovitz was transported to an empty gulag in the Northern Ice fields off the coast of Nebesnyi, and Nolovitz was left to die in the gulag without food or water. No one is sure when Nolovitz died, although it was assumed that it was very quickly. With the Rebellion out of the way, Vezin continued to rule until his death, which was the next winter. After Vezin's death, a very popular ruler took charge. Pope Peter Kharlomov, who took the reigns in 1831 at the age of 25, ruled as a man of the people, and was very loved. Kharlomov created the Council of Bishops, a team of advisors who could overthrow a unfit ruler, and was seen as a big step forwards. Kharlomov ruled until 1894, when his Council of Bishops removed him, due to Kharlomov's unfit mental health. Kharlomov was insane, and was also very delirious and hallucinogenic. Going insane after being removed from power, Kharlomov went over the deep end, killing 23 people in the middle of Goroyia before stabbing himself in the throat. Even though he was insane, Kharlomov was still known for bringing Nebesnyi out of the dark ages and into a international power. This set the stage for Sergei Voltov I, who took power in 1900 after the Bishops controlled the country for six years. Voltov, who was one of the best public speakers, truly broke Nebesnyi through the barrier as a international power. Voltov fixed the economy, assisted the needy, and focused on the people instead of the clergy collecting wealth. Voltov ruled fairly as a member of the Clergy until his death in 1970. Voltov was replaced by his son, Sergei Voltov II. Sergei II was more aggressive, and stirred up tensions between Nebesnyi and Revelieu once again. Sergei II began experimenting with new weapons for war, and planned to assert Nebesnyi's dominace through military force. Sergei II eventually bombed Landesvig in 2007, and the rest of the world was forced to prevent Sergei II from continuing.
