Hello PokéCommunity,

well this is my first post here, and since it targets no Generation in particular, i thought this would be the right subforum to post. If i am wrong, please point it out or be so kind and move this to the right area.

So, after seeing interesting Pokémon game hacks recently, i want to play some of them and get involved myself. But i would need ROMs to do that. Since i am a highly moral person, downloading it somewhere is not an option (although that would be philosophically debatable, but that clearly misses the point). So i want to make backups of my own games. I found some guides after searching, but all of them require a flashcard, which i do not own. So, is there an alternative that does not require a flashcard which would be still considered legal?

Oh, and if there is no alternative, which type of flashcard would you recommend, and why?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Kuromaru

Oh, and excuse wrong or bad grammar. English is not my native language and i am still practising it.

I don't have a wide background in ripping ROMs from game cartridges, but in pretty certain that you'd need some sort of hardware that'd allow your computer to be able to get inside the game cardtridge. Also iirc what you actually rip is either a dump file or a bunch of other files that you need to compile into one file.
I'm not 100% sure though, but I do slightly remember reading that a certain type of action replay could rip game ROMs but I could never get it to work so don't quote me on that.
