Pokémon Pangaea

“It is incredible,” the news lady said standing in front of a digital screen with an aerial picture of a large island. “It seems a few weeks ago the new satellite caught images of a whole region we knew nothing about! This island is so isolated that we’ve never had contact with it before. Researchers have been keeping an eye on it since the discovery, mindful of not making premature contact with the locals. It seems like they’re quite behind the times too! Not even electricity is spotted on the island. The researchers have announced that they’re starting Project First Contact this week-“

[ Project First Contact ]

The idea was to slowly make contact with the locals of the new island and introduce them to the modern age of the rest of the globe. The project was incredibly closely monitored and calculated, really easing the population of the foreign island into the knowledge of the other regions. A miracle it might be but the project was a huge success. Over time the island, which they had learned was named Pangaea by the locals, grew accustomed to modern life.

Another huge coincidence was that the population spoke English, making communications a whole lot easier than they had initially feared. The only thing that differed was that the Pangaeans had a rather strange script, not the Latin the rest of the Pokémon world used. Electricity was introduced, harvested from environmentally-friendly windmills along Pangaea’s cliffed and windy coast. They got electricity up and running for the major cities, leaving only the smallest villages to fend for themselves. They introduced Pokéballs and supplies as well, and taught the Pangaeans how to do Pokémon battles. Previously the locals had only used Pokémon as pets and as help.

Visits to Pangaea were incredibly regulated as well. At first only researchers and government personnel were allowed to visit the island. Over time small amounts of settlers were allowed to move to the new region and help get them accustomed to the new cultures. While Pangaea to this day is still an incredibly homogenous society, small clusters of foreigners can be found on the island. Especially since the arrival of the Pangaean Pokémon League.

The decision to suggest a League was an obvious one. Pokémon Training had been a real hit amongst the younger locals, who had never seen their Pokémon as anything else but tools for work or companions in the house before. Now they had a real purpose to spend more time with them, and Pangaeans also turned out to be highly competitive. Also there were tons of people wanting to come to Pangaea to see it, and what was a better way to do so than utilizing the world-wide popular sport of Pokémon Training? And so the League was put into motion. Gym Leaders were sought and found, gyms and PokéCenters were built and the event was advertised.

[ You ]

You are a foreigner who has decided to try on the new region for their Pokémon journey. You will receive your Pokémon from Professor Cypress who is active on Pangaea in Amphípolis.

[ The Locals ]

While Pangaea has become accustomed to modern ideas and technologies, it has still steadfastly stayed close to its own traditions. Before Project First Contact the island had relied on fish and farming and was quite close-nit. It’s society resembled that of a combination of ancient Greece and Rome.

Modernization spread like a flame in a dry forest though. Shops started selling modern clothing, modern packaged foods became available and electricity and appliances too. And of course Pokémon supply. And now with the League, which is often also a great source of income for a region, things were seriously started to look good for Pangea.

However not everyone was happy with the changes. There are also a lot of locals, mostly the older or more traditional ones, that rejected the modern ideals. They see the foreigners as intruders and can behave quite hostile towards them, so you can expect some flack.

There have also been rumours from a group of traditionalists taking it to another level. Some foreigners have found themselves terrorized by hooded and masked figures, having their property vandalized, theft or sometimes even violence towards them. These figures might make your journey a bit more of a hassle than planned.

[ The Technicalities ]

-All standard PC rules apply, and no godmodding/bunnying.

-This roleplay is rated T.

-As the GM, my word is final, there might be some things you disagree with, and I invite you to question me and ask things, but I shall always have the final say..

-This roleplay will be done in chaptered form. Pokémon will level up according to Bulbapedia’s level list, although I might reward great posts with TM’s or unusual level-ups, so strive for originality!

-The Pokémon will have a 7-move maximum.

-When catching Pokémon, end your post with the ball shacking. I will label the wild Pokémon with their rarity, and unless it’s labeled as “very rare” I will likely not refuse the capture. However, the better your post is, the higher the lever, or perhaps it will receive an egg-move or useful item. Also please check with me first before attempting a shiny-capture.

- Also the Greeks did not wear togas. Pangaeans, however, wear a mixture of Roman, Greek and modern clothing, and would totally be seen sporting a fancy toga.

-Reservations lasts for 24 hours.

-Have fun, this is a rule.

I wanna join! I don't think I've done a character like this yet! This will be fun!

Name: Jade Miller
Age: 15
Gender: Male in body but female in spirit (As such she will be referred to as female :))

Appearance: Jade is a trap and a very careful one at that, slender yet not delicate She grew out her hair herself into the long, wavy black locks she wears right now, which is held back by a black hair tie. Her bangs are not pulled back, and there's a blue flower hair clip on the right side of her head. You can't see her face when she looks down that way but it does frame it pretty well. She keeps her bangs to hide the scar down the left side of her forehead that nearly touches her eye. You can see it on her cheek. Her eyes are a brilliant shade of green, hence her name Jade. The funny thing is, green is not her favorite color. Her skin is slightly paler than average and completely shaven. It looks healthy due to the careful makeup she applies every day. It would almost be sickly if not. Jade does it so it's hard to tell there is any make up on her body.

Jade takes no chances on discovery that she can get away with and wears girl's clothes underneath as well. We won't go into that though. She wears a lot of blue, because, well, she likes blue. Her undershirt is a pale ice color, reaching just past Jade's elbows. Meanwhile her blouse on top is the color of robin eggs and buttoned once in the stomach area. Around her neck is a white scarf (she sewed it herself). Jade wears a dark blue, pleated skirt, the fabric reaching just above her knees. After that gap are white socks and open toed tan sandals. That lack of logic does not escape her either. Her feet are just not up to snuff yet in her opinion. Finally, Jade's possessions are in a teal bag around her waist.

Personality: Jade is... in short, a bit too nice and empathic for her own good. She forgives people too easily, places trust in someone within five seconds of knowing them, and will help even those she is sure aren't doing things with the best of intentions. Why? Because she believes everyone has a reason for what they do and she has no right to deny them that. To be fair, she doesn't always offer her help, only if she thinks she can actually make a difference. Jade is not ashamed of who she is... to a point. She's rather ashamed to be male and will fervently deny it if someone guesses correctly. Jade's also easily embarrassed, tears and blush included. Take that in any way you want.

Ms. Miller likes a lot of lady-like hobbies... like working with berries. She's very good actually. However, Jade doesn't like contests (even though she'd probably be good at them) due to her mother's many pitfalls in the industry. She also doesn't like the movies or musicals even though she can play an instrument. They just aren't her cup of tea. Battles are fun though. Also, she's afraid of crowds... and small spaces. Yeah.

Jade has a few core values she sticks to. One of them is: if you truly love something, work hard for it. She loves being who she is and puts as much feasible effort as she can into being as feminine as she can, the whole reason she's going on this journey in the first place. She also believes you don't have to be helpless just because you're small and practiced karate starting from the age of ten. Jade also believes in giving anything new at least one day. If she doesn't like it after a whole twenty-four hours of trying it, she will put it away. Maybe she'll like it later. Except most meat. She can't really eat that. That's what fish is for.

She has an odd relationship with Pokemon. She finds them really amazing and slightly frightening at times and was raised for them to be like her siblings. So she talks to them the same way she would people, even though they really don't understand the whole gender issue with her. Jade is inexperienced with the ways of the Pokemon battle, but enjoys watching them and thinks she has a chance. It's better than asking her mom for the money in her opinion. So if that means she has to have her family battle with her, well, that's that. Warning to all Pokemon, prepare to be mothered in every way, smacks on the head included. Also, word of caution, she's slightly frightened by most Fighting types. Except maybe Riolu and Lucario.

History: Jade was born in Verdanturf to a single mom. She was brought up as a girl, not intentionally but more like by example. As such, Jade never found it weird to wear a skirt or enjoy baking more than baseball. Her mother, Kim, once told a neighbor that he would have never been a particularly physically inclined boy anyway. She was always rather sheepish about it, but never ashamed. It was rather useless to tell Jade to stop calling herself a girl. She had gotten into the habit a bit too young for that.

However, just because the adults were all right with it at the moment, it didn't mean everyone was. Kim had begun to date and he quietly disapproved of his possible fiancee's son looking at dresses in Rustboro. Jade didn't really know any better, so he couldn't be entirely blamed for it. It was tolerated... but only to a point. He placed her in karate, which she seemed to take to like a fish to water. It didn't change as much as he would like, but it was something. The children in her class though, weren't nearly as tolerant as those in Verdanturf. Bullying was subtle but rampant at the small school on the beach beside Rustboro. Jade didn't know why it was happening, so she simply kept her head down. Some cornered her and tried to take her down. She won but had gotten a sharp stone in her head, making a long wound on the left side of her face. It was stitched back up but Jade was left with a powerful message... affecting her personality as is. She hasn't been back since that day. Neither were the other students actually.

She wondered if becoming a girl would make the tormenting stop, instead of you know, hating her tormentors. So, around the age of thirteen, she began looking for ways to physically turn female. Realizing that they were very expensive, Jade decided there was only one thing to do: go on a trainer's journey. Normally, she would have set out straight for Littleroot. However, Jade wanted a new start, a place where neither her mother's ability as a former contest start or her then stepfather's reputation as a fearsome gym challenger would follow. So... she went to Pangaea, three days after her fifteenth birthday.

Spoiler:
"When an opponent stabs you in the back, running is wise. When someone stabs you from the front, stabbing him back is safer than you think."

Ethan had no illusions about his family. They were greedy, slightly insane, and quite possibly out to kill him. Of course the political web to go through to attempt that idea was so convoluted there'd likely a massacre before they reached his bedroom. Ethan wouldn't mind that happening. A few less elders and they might actually pose points worth considering. They were discussing something mundane, such as the herb shortage or possibly if Ethan's ears heard right, some fool breaking into the gardens. Of course productive days happened but Ethan never cared about them. Being a head of a family in healing was interesting when you actually had a gift in the art.

He glanced at his blood uncle's face, who winked conspiratorially behind a mane of black hair. Ethan turned away without a change in expression. He felt Blackie's ears twitch under his fingers almost in unison with his own. Blackie gnawed on a carrot as quietly as he could, growling under his breath.

A soft chuckle near Ethan's human ears made his inwardly sigh. Oh he hated his cousin. "Your pet seems discontent."

Without moving his lips, Ethan replied in mimicry of a teenager. "Blackie dislikes the idea of these old men breathing." Blackie barked in what had to be agreement. Because the Umbreon honestly did. These farts even smelled old.

The brunette laughed again, brushing at the sleeves of his shirt casually. "Don't we all... it'd be nice to get rid of a few."

"Get any ideas?" The problem with his cousin was not his sense of humor, that was something Ethan was beginning to grasp. No, what Kumiho hated was his ideas and his execution. It was clumsy and childish and Ethan knew that was simply him. Kumiho knew Daiki was as idiotic as his parents except with a tongue to counter it. Not to mention... "And you can answer this question with your hand away from my back."

Yeah... Ethan was quite certain that was illegal. And for all his disregard of society's laws, that was one he tried to keep following. Daiki almost pouted at him before scowling at the air.

"Convince your uncle to blow up that firecracker."

"He's your father. Tell him yourself." Before the older could reply, Ethan rose to his feet and caught their attention. Blackie pawed the tatami experimentally. "If this is all we are discussing, I shall retire for the night." He waited as he walked into the middle of the room toward the door. He knew the dramatics that were about to occur and it amused him greatly. Blackie hissed at the people he passed. This guy was related to some weirdos. Explained a lot.

"Wait young master." Oh his uncle was dead-set on something it seemed.

Kumiho paused at the doorway and turned his head slightly. "Yes? Is there a debate required of my opinion? Observation: You all have managed to settle yourselves without me. Do so now if you are truly debating so fiercely."

"It isn't that," the dark-haired man commented with the mischievous smile that Ethan knew from secondhand experience meant danger. "It is simply that you are neglecting to announce the news you left me with earlier this evening."

"Ah," Ethan sighed. "Yes that. Unfortunate for us to be certain but I am departing tomorrow morning for a trainer's journey."

To Kumiho's luck there was not an immediate outburst of disgust, which struck him as odd. Then he remembered that this could mean glory for the family. Fools sought out glory people said. "I believe it will beneficial and experience I require. The matter has been decided already." Kumiho waited the quiet out, almost able to envision the murmurs going around from them. Finally one of them, likely one of the people adopted into the Marx, responded.

"That is a wise choice young master," he began in a tone that in any other man would sound timid. "However... we must impose regulations upon this if it is done."

"Such as?" Ethan asked quietly. Blackie headed out the door and started pacing around irritably. Humans sure could talk. They had been in that room since the sun set. Jeez.

"I believe you know most of them," the man commented hurriedly. Ethan scowled now, an odd, pulsing sort of feeling bubbling in his system, almost a diluted version of wanting to hit someone.

"However, this rule you must remember." Ethan froze at his grandfather's voice. That man was in his seventies yet still could make anyone feel like a lowly worm. If this was his rule then... "You are not to seek out Elena. Your sister and mother left of their own volition. They have no part in your life. Understood."

Kumiho twitched slowly. "If I break these rules, the punishment is..."

"I believe you can answer that yourself. You're a smart boy."

"I see..." Ethan whipped around briefly and hissed hatefully. "Then I guess you'd better find yourself a new head now shouldn't you? Before you keel over?" He slammed the door shut and went down the hall, anger pulsing in his head like a heartbeat.

Ridiculous... as if I will allow them to impose such a regulation on me...

Blackie padded after him curiously. So whoever that person is, they can actually tick off this werido... huh... I'll definitely have to meet them now.

That aside, do all old people smell that awful or was it just hand in hand with being insane?

--

Blackie awoke early in the dark to find his human placing a few red and white spheres in a bag. Ethan glanced up at him and nodded. "My uncle offered me this," he said simply. Blackie twitched. Not even a hello from this guy for real. "You can lay there if you'd like but I'm leaving shortly. I doubt you'll last long if you stay here." Blackie yipped irritably at him. Like he was staying here with the smell of annoying people. He rose and shook himself, stretching to leap after the human. Ethan didn't seem too concerned as he walked out of the room and towards the side of the home. Looking around, Blackie could see it truly wasn't very large but instead very empty. Only a few people actually lived there.

"Blackie..." The Umbreon jolted from his musings and bolted after the boy. Ethan's face was calm as he stood at the edge of the fence. They must have given up on those tall walls. Ethan climbed it like an expert, leaving Blackie to scramble after him. "Tono and I went this way often," Kumiho commented to the air. "I wonder where he ran off to..." Shrugging, he climbed down and headed onward, leaving Blackie confused. No wonder the kid had smelled like a Dark type...

The quietness of Januvale was welcome to Ethan. Normally he didn't mind bustle, as it gave him more pieces to fit together. The downside of this was that his ears would never stop shifting around to noises and his tail would hit someone. That in turn would magically cause a scuffle. It had to be a human trait to take offense at every little thing and want to punch for it. Ethan hoped he could suppress it if it grew too strong in him. Fast and nimble he was, but a good fighter he most certainly was not. Not to mention the moon was incredibly bright, despite its lack of full status. That made everything so much brighter, especially the stars.

Blackie yawned a little. Just because he evolved in the nighttime didn't mean it attracted him that much. Not that the Umbreon remembered much about his evolution. It had been a while back. Blackie was pretty sure it had been an accident. Oh well there was nothing he could particularly do about it. Blackie yawned again before sniffing the air. Was it just him or was it cleaner? They must have left the city by now. Wonderful.

Ethan adjusted the straps of his bag, fiddling with one of his Pokeballs. Should he release Sear or... no. That would cause a forest fire at this time of night. Shaking his head, Ethan walked further down the path, unwilling to destroy all this serenity.

It was broken of course. There was the sound of someone, something actually, singing its way across the sky. It was a golden ladybug, four arms clenched casually into fists. "Ledi~Ledi~Ledi~" Berry~Berry~Berry~ As it flew, golden powder fell from its wings, spreading and falling over the heads of Pokemon and trainer alike. Ethan stared at it inquisitively while Blackie spat on the ground.

"Umbreon..." I hate Bug-types...

The Pokemon turned. "Ledi! Ledian!" I is a bug you! You have a problem with me.

Blackie snarled. "Um bre! Bree!" Yeah actually! Wanna fight me about it?

Ethan blinked. He had no idea what was going on. Were they... were they about to fight? Oh wonderful... and he had no idea what that bug was. Well, actually... looking at it made it appear to be a Ledian. This was likely not going to end well. Kumiho shrugged. He supposed he could try and...

Blackie yowled as he went flying backward. The Ledian had tacked him. Dear god this was hopeless wasn't it? "Blackie don't use Psy-" He was too late of course, the Umbreon's eyes shining pink and blasting a wave of energy toward the bug. It did fly back a bit to Ethan's surprise. The bug let out a noise that sounded suspiciously like a whine.

"Ledi... Ledi!" Ow... that kinda hurt! I shouldn't let you do that again. I know! Ledian concentrated.

"Blackie wait!" The Umbreon glanced at him. "Sand Attack!" What was the point of that? Oh well... maybe the kid saw something. Blackie ducked and rolled, kicking up some sand into a cloud. "Quick Attack." Blackie leapt into the air just in time, crashing into the Ledian just before a sound could crash from the bug's lungs. Blackie landed back on the ground as the Ledian growled again.

"Ledidi! Diadi!" Why you! I won't lose! It let out a shrieking noise, causing Ethan to instantly clamp his hands over his ears to try to avoid the supersonic attack. It was hopeless for Blackie, who yowled angrily at an enemy only he could see... about a foot away from where Ledian was hovering. He launched himself in a Quick Attack and missed, only to be Tackled to the ground again by Ledian.

Ledian flew back up and charged again. "Diadi! DIA... LE!" Final blow! Comet... Punch! He slammed furious fists into Blackie's body, knocking the Pokemon deeper into the dirt. In his pain, the Umbreon released another, but this time spreading, Psychic. Ledian tumbled back in the air.

Ethan sighed. This wasn't ending well at all it seemed. No choice then... He pulled out Blackie's Pokeball. "Blackie... return." He sucked the Pokemon back into its ball. Clipping it back to his pants, he glanced at Sear's ball. "Just don't kill it..." He released the Pokemon and the monkey shook itself as the light faded. It glanced up at Kumiho and then at the Ledian.

"Pan... sear... sear pan pan!" What... why am I here... and what the heck is that ugly flying thing? Sear jumped back and pointed furiously at Ledian. "PAN! Pansear!" Freak! I'll burn you!

Ledian stuck out its tongue. "Ledia! Ledian!" No! You won't burn me or my Berry tree!

"Pan pan!" There are no berry trees here you moron! BURN! He released blasts of Ember at Ledian, which was dodged easily.

"Sear let him get closer. Then use Lick."

Sear glanced at Ethan and grimaced. "Pan..." Gross... But he did as told and watched as the Bug fired toward him like a golden rocket of doom. As it got closer, Sear grabbed two of the Ledian's arms and held him still, licking his face and groaning. Nasty. Evidently Ledian thought so too and flailed, using that punch attack to slam into Sear's chest. It was weakened by the use of only two arms but Sear winced and released it. "Pan...SEAR PAN!" Jerk.... Just let me roast you like a PIDGEY! He fired a heavy burst of Ember, blasting Ledian back. This time Ledian did not fly back up, what appeared to be static sparking around it. Paralysis.

Sear couldn't help but grin. "PAN!" That freak over there wasn't taht dumb after all. Ledian got back up and ran forward weakly, attempting to charge forward with four fists. Sear was ready. He dodged and Scratched at one of the arms, causing a brief yelp of pain before he fired another set of Embers. It fell, twitching from burns.

Ethan sighed. He wasn't sure that was enough but too much more and he'd have a dead bug. And this had been Blackie's fault in the first place so the least he could do is heal the insect when this was over. "Sear, back." Sear glowered and reluctantly stepped back, letting Ethan move himself closer to the twitching creature. The image could have sparked pity from another person, but Ethan remained quiet. "Behave yourself in here." He didn't seem too concerned about the creature. There was no tug toward it like with Blackie after all. Oh well, a Pokemon was a Pokemon. He tossed the Pokeball, sucking the Pokemon inside with a click. It hit the ground and shook once...twice... three times...
"Perhaps I misjudged you after all."

Name: Xander Knight

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Appearance: Picture of Xander ---->

Spoiler:

Xander is a very handsome young man who could charm almost every girl if he wanted to. His smooth dark blue hair is a result of his mother’s light blue and his father’s dark colored hair. His hair falls onto his eyes which have the same color and give off a very mesmerizing yet confident look. He is well built for his age and despite not showing it he really packs a punch. His skin is at the edge between Caucasian light and pale and has no bruises or scars.

The boy usually wears what he thinks is most comfortable for him but for this journey he picked a new outfit as to the beginning of his new journey. He will have a pair of blue long jeans that aren’t nor baggy or too tight. The jeans go down to his sneakers which are black and have some white stripes in some places (Arcanine trademark). The jeans are held with a black belt. His upper appearance shows a white T-shirt with some kind of image on it that is under a thin piece of clothing similar to a sweater. He also has a pendant in the shape of a cross around his neck.

Personality: Xander is a loner who doesn’t really like to be surrounded by people due to the fact that he can’t bring himself to trust anybody due to personal reasons. Because of this whenever he has to get involved into speaking or dealing with people he will do it in a very distant way and as quick as possible. The only persons he will care to talk to is his mother Clair. Despite being very distant he will, from time to time, offer guidance to those in need but only if he sees them worthy or if he is forced to do it.

He is very calm and collective and rarely gets angry. He is the type of guy who would rather walk away than get involved into a useless fight but when things get serious and there is a reason to do it he will be the first to make a move. Xander will always come to those in need even if sometimes he thinks it’s too much of a drag, but even so he will do it without expecting anything in return as he is used to not getting anything in return from everyone and he usually doesn’t get emotionally involved . You could say he has a little hero in himself trying to come out.

Despite being a loner he has one thing that he loves from the bottom of his hearth. It’s Pokemon. Xander acts opposite with pokemon than with people. He is caring and understanding with them and always likes to have one or two around him. This is due to the fact than pokemon treated him better than most people so he prefers the company of pokemon. Xander knows what he wants to do….he wants to be a pokemon trainer and someday become the Pokémon League Champion, but don’t be surprised if you’ll spot him at a pokemon contest from time to time as he finds this a nice way to relax as well an experience that may come in handy in his gym battles.

History: Xander was born in the peaceful town of Blackthorn, in the Johto region. He is the only son of the well known dragon type gym leader of the region Clair. His dad was from the same city as his mother but died away when Xander was 14 due to an illness. The loss was a great tragedy to the family but also made Xander and his mother’s bond stronger. Xander was a pure and innocent child when he was little, very different from who he is now, which wanted to make friends with everybody but things don’t always go the way we want to. Do they? Even though Xander was just like any other kid people either feared him due to his mother’s reputation or bullied him as he didn’t develop his loner and strong attitude until later in his life.

The people who feared him were complete idiots, they didn’t have a reason to be scared of his mother as despite being tough and protective of her son she didn’t badmouth or bully anybody. Clair was a model mother so there simply was no reason but people tend to develop fear out of nothing, Justas in Xander’s case. Due to this Xander was always left alone in kinder garden as parents always advised their children to avoid him and don’t interact with him much so Xander always was playing by himself. The other who bullied them were children who followed their parents example and thought that Xander was snob and full of himself due to his mother being a gym leader in town so he could do what he want. Again another bunch of morons.

Despite all this Xander didn’t blame his mom of anything as despite being so young he knew also that the peoples around him were somehow idiots. This statement really surprised his mother. They were having dinner one time and Clair noticed that her son was sad and knew why. She had considered resigning from her job as a gym leader so her son could have a good life but that night when she told her son what she intends to do her son replied : “ Don’t stop being a gym leader just because some idiots don’t have a brain.” Clair was somehow amazed and proud of her son. A 10 year old saying such things were really incredible so Clair remained to her title and was even more proud of her son.

As Xander grew up he started to be more calm around others and just ignore their bad talk or their nasty stares. When those things started to bug him he would just get up and leave or if he didn’t want to give in this time he just had to open his mouth and say a good reply and others would just shut up. As for the bullies, Xander became strong as he grew up due to the fact that he trained along his mother with her pokemon so in no time he was strong enough to not even sweat and take down his opponents. As time passed and his mother brought him more often to the gym he found his passion for pokemon. He would play would them all day long until it was time for him to go home and at home he would study them trying to find any piece of information he might have missed. He would also watch his mother’s battles not moving an inch from his spot until the final blow was dealt. His love for pokemon was growing day by day and this lead to his dream of becoming a pokemon master. He wasn’t able for several years to get his first pokemon due to saw new laws that were inforced in Johto, so when he saw the news about Professor Cypress giving pokemon for starting trainers in the Pangaea region, he took advantage of this and went to Pangaea to start his journey.

Spoiler:
As she was walking towards Route 22, the girl saw a glimpse of Viking walking into what looked like the local gym. If she remembered correctly, the gym here would be Giovannis and was the last gym in the game. “ Could things have changed and this was the first one? “ she thought as she kept walking along the streets of the town. Nevertheless she didn’t dare to challenge the gym at this point. Chloe didn’t feel any bit prepared and still had only one pokemon. This was the reason she was heading towards the closest route to the town. She saw how Volt had interacted with Viking’s Charmander and felt that the pokemon wanted some other pokemon friends by his side. It was Chloe’s duty as a trainer to make her pokemon strong and keep them healthy, but also to make them as happy as they could be. Plus, she couldn’t even think of winning the game with just Volt as her pokemon.

“Guess we’re here.” Chloe said putting Volt down as the urban surrounding faded away and was replaced by lush green grass that went along the main road. They reached the start of Route 22 and could see a big sign next to them that spelled “ Indigo Plateau “, pointing straight to the top of the road. Both Chloe and Volt scanned the area a few minutes, thinking which way to go. There was the river that went along the main road which meant that there should be water pokemon. “ Volt is already a water type so we should head towards the forest.” she thought averting her eyes from the glittering stream towards the pine trees that watched over the route.

“Chinchou!!!” the pokemon shouted pointing towards where Chloe was looking, the forest.

“ Yes. That way! We’ll surely find one or two pokemon to catch.” She said winking at the pokemon. His face filled with a smile as her trainer mentioned the word catch. As Chloe had guessed, he really wanted a friend around. The two got off the main road and went into the grass, making their way towards the forest, the wind blowing slowly as the two went into it. You could hear some birds chirping high above them on the top branches of the trees, but the wooden pillars were so high that it was impossible to get a glimpse of the creatures pleasing the two with their symphonies. They ventured further into the forest trying to spot any movement near them, any kind of pokemon that Chloe might want to catch, or to be more precise, a pokemon that she COULD catch. After walking for ten minutes, the two of them stopped, Chloe sitting down on a rock to rest. Volt however was as energetic as ever as he had been on Chloe’s shoulder for a while now. “ Aren’t you enjoying this!” she said as her pokemon was riding the “Chloe Express”. He giggled but soon his antennas went straight up as he sensed something approaching. “What is it?” Chloe asked curiously. She got down on the ground and put her ear next to the ground as her father taught her in a camping trip. She could hear tramping coming their way from the distance. She got up and made sure that Volt was holding tight to her neck. Suddenly, a rodent like pokemon with large whiskers and front teeth sprung out of a bush. The lavender-bluish pokemon went running right past them having a determined look to escape from something.

Chloe gulped. “ Hasn’t this happened before? “ she said feeling the effect of a déjà vu.

“Chin!” the pokemon shuddered and closed his eyes and held the girl tight with both his anglers and his fins.

“ PONYTA!!!!!!” a bunch of flaming horses cried marching towards Chloe and Volt. They were a herd of Ponyta, twelve or so if Chloe managed to see straight, that were DASHing with all their might, apparently after the other pokemon.

“Why does this always happen to me? “ she shouted as she turned around and started running away, the herd getting closer and closer with every step that Chloe made. As the girl was running , she could sense that the chasing pokemon were getting closer and closer so she had to think of something to escape and it had to be fast. She spotted a branch a few feet away. “ Hope it works? “ she said to herself as she leaped high and managed to get a grip of the branch. Chloe lifted her feet up so that the Ponytas won’t hit her when they would pass. One Ponyta passed by her, then another one and another one. She was hanging in well and in a matter of seconds she would have been out of danger. However, fate always liked to give her a run for her money, so as the seventh Ponyta passed the branch started to crack.

“ Aaaaaaaa!” she yelled as the branch finally snapped under her and her pokemon’s weight. Chloe fell but somehow landed on the back of one of the Ponytas. “Bad…….day…..bad…..day…..bad…..daaaaaay!!!!” she kept yelling when she saw her circumstances. She was holding a tight grip on both Volt and the Ponyta and was praying to Arceus that she wouldn’t fall and get caught in the stampede. They kept running through the forest and in a matter of minutes the herd caught up to the rodent pokemon. Chloe’s body was going like a jumping jack, however she managed to recognize the pokemon as being a Nidoran, a female one due to its colour. The poor thing was giving its all trying to outrun the herd of flaming horses. It managed to get out of the forest and now was running through the tall grass towards the river. As it got by the river bank, the pokemon stopped in its tracks as it was faced with a dead end. The herd was right on its tail and with a giant leap over the main road they stopped in their tracks facing the Nidoran. The sudden stop made Chloe jump off the Ponyta that was carrying her and was sent flying over the rodent pokemon right into the river.

The water wasn’t very deep, so she was out of danger, but that didn’t mean she didn’t get soaked head to toe. She splurted out some water and got up looking for Volt. The pokemon was swimming happily near her like nothing had happened. Chloe turned around and looked at the Nidoran that was cornered. The herd wasn’t happy about something and were raising their flames ready for an attack. Just before they could launch an attack, Chloe’s caring side burst out like a volcano. “ STOP right there! “ she yelled as one Ponyta started running. “ Volt use Supersonic!” she yelled and Volt jumped up and launched a powerful sound wave straight at the Ponyta, that was about to collide with the Nidoran. The attack hit and the Ponyta got confused and changed its direction and started running along the river bank, far into the distance. “ You have no right to gang up on one little pokemon like that. It’s not fair.” She said towards the herd. “ I can’t see what one single Nidoran could have done to a whole herd. “ and Chloe was right, the only reason why the Nidoran had been chased was that it entered their territory without knowing it. “ Volt use Flail on the water!” she said seeing that the herd wasn’t backing down. Volt obliged and started hitting the water sending it in all directions. Chloe was next to him and was using her hands to throw water at the Ponyta. A huge amount of water flew straight at the herd, mostly due to Volt, and splashed them head on. The flames from their tails and ridge, in contact with the water created a lot of steam, just perfect for Chloe to escape. She jumped out from the water and grabbed the Nidoran which was more than confused. The girl started running up the river bank as fast as she could, as the steam could wear off any second.
After a twenty minute run session, she stopped and fell down on the grass, exhausted and gasping for air. She turned her head towards the direction she came from and saw that she didn’t get followed. Chloe let go to both Volt and Nidoran, that were in her arms and stretched on the grass. As soon as it got freed, the pokemon dashed into the tall grass and scurried away. Chloe closed her eyes and started to laugh. “ Can’t believe we just did that! “ she said out loud. Then she got up and was faced with a mouth dropped Volt.

“Chin Chinchou!” the pokemon started saying pointing back and forth from Chloe to the place they came from.

“ Yeah I know. I am shocked too.” She replied. The scared little Chloe had shouted at a herd of Ponyta and managed to save a pokemon from them. She fell back on the ground and stared at the sky and the clouds that were passing by. Chloe’s caring side had helped her this time to overcome her insecurity and build her confidence up enough to make her do what she had done. “ Hope we’ll never have to do that again.” She said giving a sigh.

“ Chin Chou!” he agreed sitting next to Chloe.

They sat there motionless for a couple of minutes until Chloe felt something tickling her forehead. Chloe opened her eyes and saw a pair of whiskers above her. She quickly got up and turned around only to see the same Nidoran from before, sitting in front of her with some Oran berries next to her paws.

“ Nid... nido!!” she cried pushing the berries with the tip of her nose towards Chloe.

“Thanks!” Chloe said picking one berry cautious not to startle the Nidoran. However, the Nidoran was smiling happily at the sight of her gift being appreciated and was not even close to running. Chloe gave it to Volt, who took a bite then thanked Nidoran for the berry. Chloe lifted her hand and reached slowly towards Nidoran to pet her. Seeing this Nidoran raised her head so that the tip of her head would reach Chloe’s hand. “ Nice to see you’re ok!” smiling and patting the pokemon. Volt went close to Nidoran and raised his angler the same way he did with Charmander earlier that morning. Nidoran shaked “hands” using her paw and ran around Chloe and Volt a few times. Chloe giggled seeing the pokemon DASH around them so joyful. After a few spins Nidoran stopped next to Chloe and lifted its paws up onto Chloe. The pokemon was looking at Chloe’s belt where she was holding her pokeballs and then knocked one down on the ground. She went back a few steps and then gave out a loud cry at Chloe, her joyful look turning into a serious one. Chloe got up and picked the pokeball up, she had a grin similar to Viking’s. Seems she had picked a thing or two from him.

“ Ok if that’s your wish I’ll have a battle with you. “ she said, then looked towards Volt who already knew what he had to do and jumped in front of her trainer ready to commence the battle. “ Volt start with Bubble attack!” she shouted and Volt opened its mouth, releasing some bubbles that went straight for Nidoran. As the bubbles were approaching, the pokemon lifted its paws and sprung its claws, popping the bubbles one by one. Then, with a snicker, dashed towards Volt scratching him on the side.

“ Nido!!!” the pokemon cried as it jumped back a few steps, making sure Volt couldn’t attack it from a short distance. Chloe was amazed by Nidoran’s movements, they were swift and precise and didn’t let room for its opponent to counter. Her thoughts were however interrupted, as NIdoran opened its mouth and used Growl.

“Counter it with a Confuse Ray!” Volt’s orbs, at the tip of its anglers, started glowing purple and released a light purple ray that went straight for Nidoran. As the Growl attack hit Volt, the purple rays hit Nidoran and managed to confuse the pokemon as it started to wobble around. “ Now this should help us!” Chloe stated seeing the pokemon being affected by the attack. However, Nidoran started running towards Volt with his claws up and ready to unleash its Scratch attack. “ Just my luck!” said Chloe remembering that even if confused, the opponent may be able to use an attack. “Volt jump back and use Bubble attack again!” she responded seeing as Nidoran was just about to hurt Volt. The water pokemon jumped back releasing bubbles as it evaded the attack. As Nidoran went straight for Volt, it got hurt by the barrage of bubble in its path and by the time it got to Volt it fell down being overwhelmed by them. “ Now use Flail!” and with that Volt used its anglers to smack Nidoran. However, due to the bubbles, the confusion wore off and Nidoran was conscious once again and as soon as it saw the anglers coming towards it, the pokemon turned around and used Tail Whip to counter. It was a nice strategy but, after enduring the attack a bit, Volt’s power outmatched Nidroan’s and sent it flying a few feet away.

“ Nidoran! “ the pokemon got up and cried letting Chloe know that it wasn’t going to give up that easily. It scratched the ground with its paws then marched towards Volt as fast as it could.

Seeing that, Chloe quickly turned to Volt. “ Can you endure one more hit? “ she asked her pokemon. Volt nodded and braced himself for what was to come. Nidoran jumped up and came down scratching Volt with her claws.

“ Now Volt! Thunder Wave!”
she yelled just as Nidoran had made contact with Volt and was at close range. Volt unleashed its attack, sending a charge of electricity through Nidoran’s body. Nidoran went numb and fell down on the ground motionless. Being at close range, the attack was more effective so Chloe’s strategy went well. She threw the pokeball that she had held in her hand the whole time, the pokeball that Nidoran knocked off. It went straight towards Nidoran bouncing off of her, then absorbing the pokemon in. The pokeball fell down on the ground shaking as the button in front kept flashing from time to time.

Okay, here is my SU!

Spoiler:

Name: Aurum Wehementhi
Age: 16
Gender: Male

Appearance: If you would encounter Aurum casually in his home, you would most likely find him in big, black baggy pants and mostly not wearing any sort of clothing on his upper body.
However, if you would encounter him outside of his home, the young man will be garbed with a… fancy, way of dressing. Or certainly more fancy than most people. The sixteen-year old usually wears pants in Chino clothing which palette is often of the darker kind. However, if our nice gentleman is feeling a bit… naughty, or dangerous, he will have jeans in a light blue color. Aurum’s shoes often vary, but more than enough he’ll stick with a pair of light-gray sneakers, each with a small pixelated skull embodied on them. The blazer he wears makes him look a little more broad-shouldered and threatening than he really is.

As for his torso Aurum often wears a T-shirt in a light color, or with an additional feature, depends on how he feels. But he wouldn’t be “fancy” without a reason, ooooh no! On top of his T-shirt, Aurum wears a jet-black blazer that is often buttoned, making him look likes he means business.

Aurum’s skin isn’t anything out of the ordinary, but it has a slight olive-green tone to it. Another feature that makes him look like serious business is his eyes. The Emerald-green eyes that he possesses often have an “angry” glare to them. The only feature of Aurum that could make him seem at least a bit amusing is his hair. The sixteen-year old’s hay-blonde hair is completely slicked back except for an antenna of hair that points upwards from his head, a trait he received from his mother’s side of the family.

Personality: Aurum is distrustful around other people, there’s no denying that fact. Throughout his entire upbringing he was taught to NOT trust anyone, not even his own family. He was also taught to remain professional no matter what situation, which made him bury his emotions in public. But he does not succeed with becoming completely without emotion as he talks in a very serious (bordering to angry even) and sometimes rude way.
When he talks to people, Aurum cuts the speech short and goes straight to business so that no bonds whatsoever can be formed between him and the person he is talking with. The young man also seems to have no humor at all around other people, not laughing at any jokes they may crack or at anything stupid that they may do.

But don’t let his sour and maybe rough exterior fool you. On the inside, Aurum is very caring for the people and Pokémon that matters the most to him as well as being very keen to protect them. He can be a really nice guy if you have the time and patience to befriend him. So IF you manage to become his friend, he will be forever loyal to you. But, don’t ever say something bad about his family, since this is the only thing that can make him instantly break his calm character and fly into a heavy rage.

Certain parts of Aurum’s upbringing also kept him away from a lot of people besides his family; this made him by no means sheltered as he was home-schooled by his father in various subjects. He was taught to not trust anyone besides his own Pokémon, he was taught to be a gentleman who respects women and he was taught to not be cocky just because of his occupation. All of these ideals laid root in Aurum’s mind, except the “not being cocky”-part as he can be a bit overconfident from time to time. This is his biggest strength as well as his biggest weakness as Aurum will not turn down a challenge that he deems necessary, may it be anything from something important to something utterly irrelevant and stupid.

Aurum is… or was spoiled as a kid due to him being the only child and the one to eventually take over his father’s business. He was almost constantly given gifts and things like that. At first he enjoyed receiving gifts, but after being teased about it in school one day, he started to dislike it. He even started to dislike it so much that he can’t bring himself to receive gifts from others anymore.

History: Aurum was born in Castelia City, Unova, to Argentum Wehementhi and his wife Alice Wehementhi. His parents had always had a problem with getting children, so until the day that they found out they were having a baby; both of them had been under heavy stress. This had made them age a bit too quickly visually, but not mentally. So it must be easy to understand that they became as happy as they could be when Aurum’s mother became pregnant with him. But sadly enough, some months after Aurum’s birth, the doctors called to inform the couple that they would be unable to have any more children. Many people would imagine that Aurum’s parents had been saddened and depressed by those news. Oddly enough, it didn’t seem to have any heavier impact on them. In fact, this only spurred them both to do their best to assure that Aurum became a fine gentleman when he grew up.

Aurum’s father had a family company that made a lot of money, but unfortunately not all of that money was clean. The family company involved what you could call “smaller mobsters”. Trading various items, smuggling, and other shady deals weren’t too uncommon in the Wehementhi’s business. This made them respected as well as feared. People knew that they wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone if they felt it to be necessary, but luckily such an occurrence hadn’t appeared for a long time. On the other hand, Alice Wehementhi had never been a part of that business; she instead worked as a doctor and was quite skilled in the art of botany. Whenever his father wasn’t home, she would try to teach Aurum about the mysteries of botany. Unfortunately, she quit pretty fast as her son didn’t seem to have the same enthusiasm about plants as she had.

But because Aurum was Arentum’s and Alice’s only son, he was the natural and only choice for who was going to take over the family business. At young age, Aurum didn’t think much of this, but as he grew older he started to enjoy the idea of being the head of a “semi-mobster” syndicate. But because he was the one to take over the company one day, they didn’t want to take any unnecessary risks in dealing with Aurum. So simply put, they didn’t let him play outside of the house without their supervision. This wasn’t often as both of them were so busy with their respective jobs that they had little to no time for their son. Therefore, Aurum spent most of his time inside the house, playing with his parent’s Pokémon instead. Finding way more interest in learning about these strange creatures than learning about humans and their behavior.

As Aurum grew older, the issue of sending him to school came up. At first, his parents were unsure of how to solve this. They were quite famous in all of Castelia, and there was clearly people who opposed them. Other mobsters and people who just disliked their deeds could be a dangerous factor. But eventually, Aurum’s father let him go to school for a few weeks to see if it was safe for his son to be there. It all started off pretty well, Aurum was always escorted to the school by bodyguards to keep him safe. This, of course, made him quite the talk of the new class he was put in. It wasn’t an everyday occurrence that someone rolled up with four beefy men around them. The teachers were at first very cautious around him, but seemed to ease up over time.

Aurum went to school for a couple of years, learning new things every day, making new friends and everything good that came with the school-life. He was simply having the time of his life! Unfortunately, this wasn’t going to last. One day, Aurum had overheard some older kids talking about his family. The boy had listened as they had called his family “a bunch of rotten criminals” and “a true shame to Castelia City”. Of course, Aurum wasn’t just gonna’ let them mock him and his parents. So he had simply walked up to them, demanding an apology. Foolishly, he thought that these kids could handle things in a civilized manner, oh how wrong he had been. Instead of solving things peacefully, Aurum had gotten into a fight with the other kids.

After that particular day of school was over, Argentum and Alice were not happily surprised to see their son come into the house with bruises on him and a bleeding nose. Argentum became furious and almost started to roam around the house, punching any wall that he came across. Luckily, he kept his calm and instead let a out lashing scolding against Aurum. Aurum’s mother, on the other hand, was a little more sympathetic with her son. She tried to comfort him after his father was done, and it worked to some degree. Aurum promised to not get into any more fights. And he didn’t, at least not willingly. The rest of that week, the other kids were always hiding somewhere, waiting for Aurum to come by them. And when he did, they would ambush and beat him up. Day after day, he was scolded for breaking his promise, but the boy kept claiming that the others fought him without reason.
This carried on for so long, that Aurum was eventually taken out from the school by his parents. Instead, they now started to school him from the safe place that was their home. Aurum’s father began with teaching him how to hold his cool in different situations and how to seem completely without emotion.

Aside from that, Aurum got to learn many things from his father that would help him later in life. However, he didn’t get to put his knowledge to the test as he wasn’t allowed out of the house too often. So because of his son’s lacking field experience, Argentum decided to send him to the “fairly new region” known as Pangaea to broad the family-business. Aurum’s mother opposed the idea strongly at first, but she softened up after a while and agreed to let him go. Aurum was of course more excited than he let on, think about it! A relatively new region… He had no idea what unexpected things were lying ahead of him.

Soul W.”Wildboy” Grant
Febourough Town
------------------------------------

Soul walked down the road to his grandfather’s house. But instead of keeping his eyes on the road, Wildboy had or the moment only eyes for the device known as a PokéDex, currently resting gently in his hand. He was amazed by it, perplexed by it even. To think that this little piece of electronic whatever had been able to recite the info on a Pokémon completely unknown to Soul by simply being close to it. He recognized that it would be a great addition to his abilities, but with all great things comes great responsibility as well. Soul knew that he had to treat this device with the highest level of carefulness and sincerity that was inside of his grasp. In other words, he had to cut down on the swinging in the trees and the violent assaults and all that good stuff. It saddened him a little bit to be honest, while Cecilia on the other hand was perfectly fine, and even happy with this decision.

The door to Requiem’s house carefully slid open as the grandson of the old man stepped inside. As he saw Soul, Requiem’s face beamed with cheerfulness and excitement as he indeed was very interested in his grandson’s adventures. While most people his age would call such and determination childish and “only for the younglings”, Requiem refused to think in such boring ways.

“So, what happened?” the old man asked with a wide smile on his face,

“Gen, gengaaar!”(Yeah, tell us what happened Soul!) Shinespook chimed in. The Gengar shared many traits with his trainer; one of the biggest resemblances in their personalities was indeed their love for adventure. So to say that Shinespook was anything else than interested would be an unprofessional lie.

Soul began with his stroll down to Tai’s stand, his encounter with Kitaru Chida, his revelation and finally his trip back. Wildboy left out the battle with Kassim as he felt that it was very unnecessary. After the story was presented to him, Requiem assumed a philosophical stance while stroking his beard. Soul was unsure if this helped the thinking or if old people like to stroke their beards slowly, if they had any that was. But for some reason, he decided to do the same. So Wildboy sat down besides his grandfather, but because he didn’t have a beard at the moment, Soul slowly stroke his chin for a while. He actually discovered that there was a small bit of stubble there, but it was barely visible. Still, it pleased him greatly for some strange reason.

After a while of thinking and beard-stroking, Requiem had come to a conclusion while Soul had just given up halfway and instead played tag with Shinespook, Bolt, Cecilia and Spinner.
“AHA!!!” Requiem exclaimed and jumped up from where he was sitting only to land on his feet, hunch over a bit and weakly say: “Ow my back…”

“Grandfather! You shouldn’t do such rash movements! They’re obviously bad for you!” Soul said with a concerned look on his face as he walked up to help his grandfather. To which he replied,

“I feel old and diminished…”

“But anyway, what have you come up with grandfather?” Soul asked while patting the old man’s back in an effort to be somewhat soothing ((OOC: GAH! I couldn’t find a better word for it!)).

“Oh yes!” Requiem said, as if he had received newfound energy again. “You see Soul, that if there was two of you under the guidance of Reshiram there must be more under the guidance of Zekrom as well. After all, legends say that Reshiram and Zekrom were once one being. Now, if they came from the same body that would make them about equal in strength to each other would it not? They are also supposed to represent the balance of the world as we currently know it. And there wouldn’t be balance if one part was stronger than the other, now would it?”

“I guess so…” Soul said distantly. The more he thought about the idea, the more it made sense to him.
“But, what should I do then?” he asked. Requiem just waved his finger in a playful manner and smiled.

“Tut, tut, tut. Can’t you see it Soul? What you need to do is to find the others bearing a mark like yours and ask them about this whole thing. Who knows, maybe they will have some answers for you?” he asked. Soul sat there, listening to his grandfather’s explanation and started to slowly nod in agreement. It did sound like a really good plan in Wildboy’s ears, so he saw no reason to NOT go through with it.

“Well… where should I look grandfather?” he asked.

“That’s the thing my dear grandson… I simply don’t know!” Requiem burst into a heavy laughter as he finished the sentence, as did Shinespook. Soul just looked at them a bit confused at first, but after a while he too joined in on the laughter. They agreed to discuss the matter further in the morning after breakfast. So Soul and Requiem proceeded to eat dinner in peace and quiet. Because Requiem was a really lazy cook, and not a really good one at that, he ordered home food instead of cooking it himself. Soul was actually a bit surprised when he found out that you could simply ask a person you didn’t know to bring you food. Although he preferred to eat wild berries and other stuff that he found lying around, he just had to try this sometime. The food… was not what Soul was used to. In fact, he had never seen this kind of dish ever, he thought. But still regarding that fact, something seemed familiar about this food. He looked up at his grandfather and posed a question,

“My mother used to make this kind of dish, right?”

Everything went quiet. Requiem’s hand holding the chopsticks stopped right in front of his mouth. Then the old man gently lowered them until they were back on his plate. Soul was uneasy; he hadn’t seen his grandfather like this before. The man was usually so happy and cheerful, but now… What Soul said must’ve hit him really hard, for he did not say a word for about ten minutes.

“Grandfather I’m-”

“Don’t worry Soul.” Requiem smiled, but it wasn’t the usual, happy smile that covered his face. This was a smile, Soul knew that, but it wasn’t the smile that he was used to when it came to his grandfather. No, this smile had a tone of sadness to it. Wildboy realized his mistake; he didn’t know that his grandfather still mourned the loss of his daughter. After all, it had been several years since it happened. Even if Soul hadn’t truly moved on, he had his reasons; after all he was mentally scarred for life by his father’s treatment. But maybe it hadn’t just left such a heavy impact on him; maybe his grandfather had lost control of himself too… Soul’s eyes started to tear up, he felt like such a horrible person for bringing this whole mess up again, maybe he should’ve just stayed quiet. Requiem looked at his crying grandchild; his lips seemed dry as if they were never intended to be used again. But after a while, he decided to speak up.

“You’ve embraced it too, am I right?” he said, smiling sadly yet again. Soul looked up at his grandfather, the tears still flowing from his eyes,

“Eh-Embraced w-what?...” he said, but his voice trailed off into the thicket that was the emotions in this conversations.

“The loss of your mother… My daughter.” Requiem responded. He added the “My daughter”-part after a moment of silence. Soul was unsure of why he did that though, maybe to imply something? But Wildboy was Wildboy, his skills of reading humans had weakened greatly from his time in isolation from them.

“You’ve come to terms with the feeling, you’ve embraced it, and it is a part of you now as well?” Requiem continued. Soul still understood nothing of what his grandfather was trying to say.

“W-What are you talking about?” Soul asked yet again.

“You and I Soul, we are linked together by this event, linked together by destiny.” Requiem answered, if you could call it an answer. He was starting to get more and more cryptic, Wildboy actually feared the worst. Maybe his grandfather would have a mental breakdown? Would he go into frenzy just like he did when his couldn’t control his emotions?

“I-I’m sorry grandfather… but I don’t understand. I don’t understand at all! What does this have to do with mother? Why did I even bring it up?! I shouldn’t have done it… It j-just f-f-flew out of my m…mouth…” Soul started off strong, but near the end of his speech the emotions took over. Wildboy stopped talking and started to cry loudly.

“Soul…” Requiem said again as he put his arms around the boy, “Do you know why we bear our names?”

“W-W-What?”

“Why are you named ‘Soul’ and I’m named ‘Requiem’?” he asked, holding his grandson even tighter now. His grandfather’s embrace, his smell, his arms wrapping around the teen as if they were protective walls eased Soul. He stopped crying completely, and started wiping the tears off his face instead. Wildboy looked at Requiem and gave an answer to the old man’s question:

“Because our parents thought that they were good names?”

“No.” Requiem responded quietly. He smiled, almost as if he knew that Soul would answer the question wrong.
“Do you know why I live here, in Febourough Town?” was his next question.

“Because… it is a nice village?” Soul tilted his head to the side.

“No. You see, generation after generation, our family has been living in this town. In fact, they were one of the first residents here. But as the family expanded, it became more and more difficult to keep track of everyone in it. So a big decision was made, to make someone the family head. You know, someone to rule the family, like a head honcho if you will. Now, I am the current leader of this family.” He said, slightly expressionless.

Soul’s eyes widened, c-could his grandfather be a man of that much importance? Wildboy had always had a mental picture of family heads as cruel and evil people. He could simply not see his grandfather as one of those people, and he probably never would.

“Is our family really that big?” Soul asked.

“Yes, yes it is.” Requiem responded. “Now, back to my story! ERRHM! On the day that I was born, our family rejoiced and celebrated my birth since it meant that they had gotten a new air to eventually take over the family. The only thing left to do was to give me a name, but not just any name, I was the future head of the family. Everyone pondered and pondered on what to name me, when one of the older and wiser women of our family spoke up.“

“This boy’s name shall be Requiem,” she said, “For he will suffer a great loss in the future, someone dear to him will perish. And the next male to be born into the leader position shall receive the name of Soul.”

Soul’s eyes widened even more, he couldn’t believe this, not for one second!
“Wh-Whaaaa…?” was the only thing that he could get out.

“Yes, that was her words.” Requiem said, “The thing was, our family feared that this next male in line would be the one to perish, since his name was Soul. But, I never had a son. Instead I had your mother. So when she gave birth to you, your name had already been decided. Everyone feared that you were going to die, but your mother insisted otherwise. She proclaimed that such a healthy boy would never be able to get snatched by the hands of death except for when he grew old. And it was true. The hands of death, instead snatched her away…” Soul’s grandfather paused for a moment, as if he was going through everything he had told his grandson up until now, “A requiem is a song that is played to honor the dead. A soul is something that exists in every living creature. You and I, we are linked to your mother. I am requiem that mourns her death, hoping for her to come back. You, are her soul, wandering around wanting its body back, isolating itself from humanity. The very race that took its life away and made it like it is now…” Requiem stopped for a second, “Those are the meaning of our names, and they will always be…”

"Yes! Isn't it amazing?! Ahh the power of science. It is my life."

Name: Dahlia von Throne

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Appearance: Dahlia is a 18 year old who is about 5'7, weighing about 145 pounds. 'I guess someone should lay off the cake, huh?' she say, joking about her weight. As for her skin tone, it's a slightly beige skin color. Fortunately for her, it wasn't the time for her to get any blemishes yet, but soon, she will dread the day. As for her feet that has 5 toes on each foot, and her hands that have 5 fingers with each hand, they weren't very wide or long; they were in fact, pretty small compared to her mother's and fathers. Also, while Dahlia's natural hair color is black, Dahlia really loves to dye her hair now and then. Most of the time, her hair is green because it's simply her favorite color. In any case, she would also twist and braid her hair into a sort of goldy-lock style. Her hair is still pretty long though - it reaches towards her mid bust.

For a more a casual outfit, Dahlia usually likes to wear a white dress shirt which is more or less ironed and washed every day. This white dress shirt has black buttons with a stable collar. It's not too long as well; it reaches to the end of Dahlia's mid-section. With this dress shirt, she would wear a short silk black tie that's pretty much the same color as her buttons. She likes this dress shirt / tie combo as a means to give people a good impression of her - that she's very formal, friendly, and reliable to talk with. As for her bottom attire, she wears a long light-green skirt that drops down to her ankle. Sometimes, she does wear shorter skirts, but, her green dress is more or less her favourite, simply because it's the color green. She also wears white dress shoes with a golden buckle on them, with thin white socks that goes along this.

As for her accessories, she wears two large, red hair sphere-like braid-supports on her hair, to obviously support her braided hair. Finally, Dahlia wears glasses that she wears everyday, and every night before she goes to bed, since she does not wear contact lenses yet. Dahlia always hated glasses, however, she had no choice - she was as blind as a zubat when she does not wear them both at day, and night.

Personality: Dahlia is an incredibly caring and gentle individual, and openly expresses her personality at all times. She shows great compassion in creating and maintaining a kind relationship with anyone she meets, and has yet to fail in doing so. Almost always being shown with a smile on her face. Whenever a friend is in need, she is always open to help in any way she can no matter the situation.

Her manner of speaking and vocabulary is unrefined to say the least, originally trained to throw telemarketers looking for a well-educated little rich girl off her trail but now as natural to her as breathing. Dahlia usually just slurs random words together, hoping to make a complete sentence that would make sense. For example, 'What in the name of Sanatarian Bobcats!" would be her trademark phrase whenever she is surprised about something. She also has really big problems with rhetorical phrases, such as 'toad in the hole', and 'make like a tree and leave'. She would often put them in a more literal light - one night she would stick her tongue out openly, even to her parents, because she wanted to prove that a cat has not indeed caught her tongue. More or less, it's unpredictable on what she would say next - she would say just about anything that speaks her mind whenever she wishes and in whatever way she wishes, which typically includes a good bit between joking around, and comical literalness. This, combined with her quirky and eccentric nature, makes Dahlia a rather interesting person to befriend.

She also has a horrible sense of direction, and often gets lost in her hometown, even though she's been acquainted with the land for years. She has gotten lost countless times, and even her baby sister were shown to be more aware of where her own house was than her. She is so bad with directions that a location that can usually be gotten to in a matter of minutes can become a two hour search. This direction problem more than likely originates from Dahlia guessing that a location is in a random direction rather than actually calculating where she is going.

She's a girl that loves science, more than fiction. Speaking of science, that's a topic in which she is most craziest, and most eccentric on. Dahlia loves to view the world in one big science faction, inducting the craziest of science experiments, treating life and the world if it was her own personal scientific laboratory, which you know what? If she keeps this up, she'll blow up the region. Even when it comes to terms to general cooking, she would turn the most lop-sided, uncoordinated foods into a meal that's never even created. These dishes are proved to be quite...inedible, not really helping her cooking experience, which is below average in any case. For example, a banana-flavored root-beer float covered in fig sauce. That's just it though -- Dahlia is always the type to have her mind wonder about things in life.

History: Dahlia was born in Mosdeep City in Hoenn. It was very fitting, since her mother and father were both architects working along side the gym leaders, parents. Of course, Mosdeep City was the place to learn, and just be filled with knowledge, so for most of her childhood, Dahlia enjoys reading books about pokemon with her mother, and exploring the Mosdeep City museum. The books she read would include pictures of trainers, and pokemon, working along side each other, battling bullies, gym leaders, and eventually, the champion of the pokemon league. One day, Dahlia dreamed that someday, she too will have her own pokemon, and go off on a journey.

Of course, there were also expectations she had to live by. Dahlia is the only daughter in the wealthy family of the von Throne, with her mother and father. Her mother was usually the one who worked and provided for the family. Her father? Well, he was one that would always get a cold beer, but still goes to work, watching his intake. Meanwhile, Dahlia was studying in a private elementary school until she reached 10 years of age. She wasn't the most social or popular person back then, on account of her mother, ideally wanted her to focus more on school, so that one day, Dahlia would take over her mother's status. You can say that Dahlia was being spoiled as she grew up, but Dahlia wasn't exactly the one that valued material wealth over education in any case.

When she turned 18, on her birthday, her mother and father gave her two presents: A Claw fossil, and a Root fossil. She didn't understand it at first; what was the point of two weirdly shaped rocks? However, that was when her mother and father surprised her by paying a visit to the Mosdeep City museum. That's when Dahlia stumbled her eyes towards a machine. This machine, was specialized by reviving fossilized pokemon. Of course, getting permission to use the machine was not all that easy. Since it was Dahlia's birthday, this was a special exception. Now, as Dahlia was curious at first, that was when the machine was activated by the staff in charge. There, she watched something that amazed her -- her fossils became actual living, breathing pokemon. The two pokemon that were revived, were known as the bug-typed Anorith, and the grass-typed Lileep. Dahlia's heart started to race, and her eyes beamed. This was truly astonishing. From the thought of her dream of being in a pokemon journey, she knew that she had a lot to learn. Soon, she learned about Professor Cypress giving pokemon for starting trainers in the Pangaea region. As she looked on to her fossilized friends, she knew she had to take advantage of this -- and her journey was about to begin at last.

Meanwhile, at the northern edge of the market, a big black truck that had some sort of a red fox painted on the side of the truck, stood on the opposite side of the street. People gave it strange looks as it passed by; after all, cars and trucks weren't common here, except for some farmers who had machines to help them in their work. Pokémon driven carriages was the normal way to transport things in the slowly moving Arcanum. Guarding the truck were groups of men and women, both Arcanians and foreigners.

"How boring..." one of the female guards remarked to another guard, as the guards dressed in dark clothes guarding the trucks seemed bored. "You'd think as we got here, we'd be in for some great entertainment."

"Heh, guess we'll have to make some fun of our own," another guard chuckled, facing the people around that were observing them. Then, with a deep, cocky tone, he asked, "Any of you chumps want to battle?"

"I WOULD LIKE TO BATTLE!" shouted one of the younger male villagers causing the two guards to flinch at his enthusiasm. "But... I have no pokemon." he added, suddenly depressed. The male guard raised an eyebrow at him; his mood swings were... interesting. Darn kids.

"If I battle you, do you PROMISE to leave my oranges alone?" Another villager asked. "My oranges have been stolen for 10 years!"

"You idiot," the female guard hissed. "We just got here; we've had nothing to do with your stolen oranges. Besides; how do you know they were stolen?"

"BUT-- THEY WERE STOLEN! I JUST KNOW IT!" he insisted, stomping on the ground in his frustrations and stubbornness. "I HAD THEM IN MY HANDS, I TOOK THEM TO BED, I HUGGED THEM WHILE I SLEPT AND NOW THEY'RE GONE!"

"You fool!" another villager remarked. "Why would you hug your oranges?!"

"Because he is giving them love, stupid!" another replied.

"Don't call me stupid, stupid!" the villager demanded. "You're so stupid that in the next 10 seconds when I give you a knuckle sandwich, you'll think it would be delicious!"

"Maybe I think it will be! What's it too you?!"

"Shut up!"

"No, YOU shut up!"

"Shut your FACE!"

"I'll shut YOUR face with his oranges!"

"AHA, SO YOU'RE THE ONE WHO STOLE THEM!"

"No stupid, SHUT UP!"

"I can't believe you don't know how to SHUT UP!"

"OKAY, EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP!" the female guard ordered, as everyone did indeed... shut up. "Thank you."

"Let's begin the battles!" the male guard announced.

****

Soon, Lynn and her pokemon were strolling through the street, until they all saw a huge crowd. Lynn, being a curious type that she is, decided to investigate. All she heard was the sounds of shouting, and the cries of pokemon. She weaved and squired her way through the crowd, until she saw in a more opened space, a bonsly being knocked around by a squirtle's water gun.

"Slyyyyy!" (Okay, okay, I'm sorry for making fun of turtles pleeeease stop!) the Bonsly begged.

"Squirtle!" (Damn right you are! Turtles are the greatest thing ever!) Squirtle hissed, as he continued to use his Water Gun, hosing the Bonsly down. Soon, the Bonsly fainted, as rock pokemon really hate water. Lynn never knew why, in fact, she often wondered how rock pokemon could have baths.

"No, Bonslyyyy!" a teenaged boy cringed, who soon afterwards, returned his fainted bonsly back into it's pokeball. He soon angrily turned to the man who was dressed in a dark outfit; the male guard. "Curse you! I'll get you for this!"

The man smirked. "Who's next?" He wondered. Lynn silently looked on, to the battles that soon took place.

After Konan, the next challenger, proclaimed that his market's products was cheap and had great wagon parking, he sent out his Wooper, a pokemon that loved to dance to please customers. He was battling a female guard with dark clothing, as she sent out a Bulbasaur to counter the Wooper's water attacks. Wooper began it's trademark dancing as everyone in the crowd clapped, being pleased with the performance, Bulbasaur declared that his 'bulb was not amused', and used Vine Whip to try and slap the Wooper silly, making the Wooper jump up and down to avoid the attacks. Everyone thought that this was part of the act, however, that point became moot when Bulbasaur used a Tackle attack the instant Wooper jumped once again, making the Wooper slam right on the ground, faint. The crowd was not pleased as they started to boo, but Bulbasaur then roared that once again, 'I have a bulb; your arguments are INVALID!'

Next, a challenger was a girl named Miyouri who dragged her seemingly cowardly Poochyena by the tail, up towards the truck. She was battling a male guard who sent out his Charmander from it's pokeball. As soon as Poochyena caught sight of the 'vicious' Charmander, it tackled the girl who dropped a pokeball, as used the tip of it's nose to open the pokeball, sending the Poochyena inside. Miyouri frustratingly threw Poochyena's pokeball, sending out Poochyena again, demanding it to battle. Poochyena caught sight of the Charmander once again, who without any options, growled softly and waved it's tail as viciously as it could. Shortly before the male guard could even order an attack, the Poochyena fainted out of pure fear.

In the third battle, the challenger was a male named Zack who constantly reminded everyone that he was a Broski. 'You can't beat me because I'm a broski!!' he would shout. Of course, no one actually knew what a broski was, so they didn't really take him seriously. Zack sent out a Magby who loved to fist pump in the air, while the same male guard who battled last time sent out the familiar Squirtle to counter Magby's fire attacks. The Magby, chanting 'Whoo! Whoo Whoo!' as it released it's Ember attack, was only countered by the Squirtle's Water Gun, hitting it square on the face. 'Are you serious, bro?!' Zack said in shock, as the Squirtle, proclaiming that turtles are the greatest, tackled the Magby, causing it to faint. 'Turtles before... Brotles.' The squirtle claimed afterward.

"Flare," (That Magby was a disgrace,) Flareon remarked.

"Pan..." (Their idiocy did show now bound...) Pansage added.

"Who are these guys?" Lynn asked a scruffy looking man beside her, as she glanced back at their truck. "That red fox... I've never a logo like seen it before."

"Indeed; they just appeared out of the blue," the man replied. "These guys have been challenging everyone left and right, and no one knows why. I've heard that thy are undefeated too."

Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and Charmander... Lynn thought. I read that in the book: The Tales of Pokemon. Supposedly, far away, you can start out with those pokemon on a journey... hm.

"We've still got some time to kill," the male guard announced. He soon peered into Lynn's eyes, as Lynn cringed. "You wanna be next?"

Lynn gulped. "Uh... okay, you're on. Flareon, Marill, Pansage, let's go... where are they?" Lynn then said, searching around for her pokemon.

Flareon, Pansage, and Marill were all sitting by a fruit vendor, as they saw a teenaged girl and boy, walking by, in which soon they stopped to view the fruit merchandise.

"Mmmm... These apples look good!" the teenage boy beamed. He picked up an apple from the basket, and took a bite out of it. The vendor was vexed.

"Sir! You need to pay!" the vendor demanded.

"...How come I have to pay?" the boy whined.

"You can't take something from a store without paying!" the girl explained. "This region, or the next; you have to pay for all your goods!"

"Hey! If you won't pay, I'm going to have you arrested!" the vendor warned.

"No one said anything about not paying!" the boy grumbled. "So.. how much does this cost anyway?"

"4 coins per apple," the vendor said. "You've got the money, don't you?"

The boy then reached for his pocket, got out three coins, and handed them over. However, the vendor coughed, signalling that it was not enough.

"What? Isn't that all you need?" the boy said.

"Geez, don't you know math?" the girl asked sarcastically. As she slapped her forehead with her right hand. "If I had 3 coins, plus one more coin, how many would I have?"

"W-wait, I know this one!" answered the boy. "Three plus that one coin! See? I told you I knew!"

"Three plus that one coin," the girl repeated, shaking her head with a sigh. "If I added THAT coin to the three, how many would I have?" the girl even hinted at the number four, by showing the boy four fingers, while very softly, yet constantly whispering, 'four... four...'

"OH YEAH! Uh.. a few coins?"

"Flare..." (He’s rivaling the two idiots we saw battling before in stupidity...)

"Marill!" (Mr. Cloud said that guy is winning!)

"Marill! Pansage! Flareon! Where are you?!" called Lynn's voice, from a few feet away.

"Sage..." (Time to go back...) Pansage sighed, as he was not looking forward to watching more battles.

****

However, much to Pansage's surprise, it was now his, and Lynn's turn to battle the guards. Lynn stepped forward, as she saw that she was battling the female guard. The female guard smirked.

"My, aren't you a cute little thing," she mocked. "If I'm not careful... you might just eat me up!"

"Um, I'm afraid the swallow-up-alot spirit has prevented me from doing that," Lynn retorted. "Not that I would resort to cannibalism anyway."

"Hey idiot, it was just a figure of speech," the female sneered. She then took out two pokeballs. "Since you have three pokemon, why don't we have a double battle? If one of our first two pokemon is knocked out, then we send out the third one. The person who has all three of their pokemon faint first is the loser. Caprice?"

"Understood," Lynn grasped. "Pansage, Flareon, get ready!"

"Sage..." (You know, I never did get that payment in bananas for battling...) Pansage mumbled, upon him and Flareon standing ready to battle.

"Go! Squirtle and Charmander!" the guard cried, throwing her two pokeballs. The first pokeball released a familiar Squirtle to Lynn, rubbing it's shell and stretching before getting ready. It then blinked at the two, Flareon and Pansage.

"Squirtle! Squirt!" (You two are not turtles! You must DIE!)

"Flareon!" (Not if I BURN you first!)

The second pokeball released a cheerful Charmander, as it ran in place, warming up before the inevitable battle. It then did a back flip, followed up with a few head warm ups before it became fully ready.

"Chaaaaaaarmander!" (Alllllright, dum all over, yes we are!)

"Sage?" (What?)

"Charmander!" (Dum all over, near and far!)

Pansage blinked as he turned to Flareon. "Sage Pan--" (Don't underestimate them. Maybe if we can get the jump on them with some slow, careful strategy, we can get the upper hand to avoid their attacks and we can follow up with a counter--)

"Flareon!" (Too late, this is more fun!) Before Lynn could issue a command, Flareon started to release his Flamethrower upon the two pokemon, causing Squirtle to Withdraw to his shell, and forcing Charmander to leap out of the way.

"Ugh, Flareon, I didn't give the signal yet!" Lynn glared, followed up with a sigh. Although at this point, I shouldn't be surprised, she then thought. Well, since Flareon started anyway, Lynn suppose that she could give the first move. "Pansage, use Vine Whip on Squirtle!"

The sign that Pansage obeyed began as he released it's Vine Whip upon Squirtle's Withdrawn shell. However, unfazed from the protection of the shell, Squirtle soon rose, standing back up.

"Squirtle, use Tackle on Pansage!" declared the guard after the Vine Whip failure. The small turtle pokemon charged forward towards Pansage, or as quickly as it's short, blue legs with a shell on him back could allow him anyways...

"Pansage - dodge!" countered Lynn without hesitation. Pansage leaped out of Squirtle's way with ease, causing Squirtle to almost trip and fall from coming so fast, only to miss. "Use Vine whip again!" Lynn ordered, hoping that Pansage's Vine Whip would do more damage this time, however, before the attack could hit, the Squirtle withdrew to it's shell again, blocking the attack.

"Charmander - Ember on Pansage!" the guard commanded. Charmander took a deep breath, chanting on how dum everyone is, and blew out sprays of volcanic ember swarms.

"Flareon - counter with Flamethrower!" ordered by Lynn. Flareon blew his red hot Flamethrower, blowing away Charmander's ember with ease. Flareon continued his Flamethrower maneuver, as an attempt to scorch the Charmander. Charmander was able to jog, skip, and hop out of the way, even at one point where the Charmander was in front of the crowd as people had to duck to avoid Flareon's misfire. Soon, Flareon stopped.

"Flare...Eon," (Pretty fast for a lizard...unlike that turtle there,) Flareon taunted, trying to provoke Squirtle to slip.
"Squirtle, Squirt!" (Hey, that's rude! You are pretty rude!) Squirtle shouted as it recovered.

"Flareon!" (And turtles are pretty ugly!)

"SQUIRT?!" (WHAT?!) Squirtle shrieked. "Squirt--" (What did you just say--)

"Pansage," (He said that turtles are ugly,) Pansage said calmly as he rubbed his ears. "Sage, Pan." (If I may add that you certainly are not going to be much faster - or prettier with that big shell on your back.)

"Tle - Squirtle!" (You - Charmander, help me out here!) Squirtle asked, upon turning to his teammate.

"Charmander, Char!" (Don't worry Squirtle, I think turtles are dum!) Charmander happily said as an attempt to complement Squirtle. However, it was soon rewarded with a infuriated Squirtle's Water Gun straight on the face, knocking it out on the spot. It's last words, was Water is dum.

"Wh-?! NO MY FLAME LIZARD!" the female guard shrieked. "Damn it, Squirtle! What have I told you?!" Lynn could do nothing but blink as the female guard frustratingly sent out her next pokemon: a know-it-all bulbasaur who was obsessed with it's bulb.

"Bulbasaur!" (You can't beat me because I have a bulb! Your arguments are INVALID!) he declared upon entering the fray.

"Flare?" (A bulbasaur? Pffft!)

I guess I can use Flareon's Flamethrower to attack that Bulbasaur...
Lynn thought. I can also use Pansage to cover Flareon's Water weakness... I think I'm in a good position! Lynn then smirked, issuing her next order. "Flareon - Flamethrower! The fire spirit shall protect you!"

Flareon, still unable to figure out the existence of this 'fire spirit', still threw his hot-blooded flamethrower towards the bulbasaur and squirtle, causing them both to duck out of the way.

"Bulba!" (How dare you try to burn my precious bulb!) Bulbasaur yelled. "Pansage - Use Scratch on Squirtle!" Commanded Lynn, as she planned on stacking mor edamage to the Squirtle before giving it the final blow. Pansage started hoping towards it, sticking out it's claws, prepared to deliver a scratch.

"Squirtle, Water Gun!" the female guard countered. Squirtle released his watery jet move - Water Gun, forcing Pansage to be knocked back, but not enough for a serious hit. "Now - Bulbasaur - Tackle!" she then commanded. Bulbasaur, said to be gaining energy from his bulb, rushed over to the staggered Pansage, hitting it square on the nose before Pansage could move out of the way. Soon Pansage fainted, who didn't even get the bananas he wanted.

"Return, Pansage," Lynn said, taking out Pansage's pokeball, returning it inside for a rest. Darn, so much for my plan... perhaps Venus has been enlightened and the water spirits are more powerful... Lynn then turned to Marill, who was busy idling nearby. "Marill, I need you!"

"Flare..." (Oh please, no...) Flareon wished. However, much to his dismay, Marill agreed to Lynn's request, and hopped and waddled her way over towards the battlefield.

"Mar!" (Mr. Cloud and I are ready!) she announced. Oh boy, this was not going to end well.

Mine is ready. :3 Sorry for taking a bit longer than usual D: Let me know if I'm missing something. :)

Spoiler:

Name: Zaira Montes
Age: 17
Gender: Female

Appearance:
At 5'9 and 135 pounds, Zaira thinks this isn't an average body for her. But she manages to deal with it. She's 17 years old, though many people would think she's older than 17, more like 20 or 21. She's the tallest of her family, even taller than her Aunt, whom she currently lives with. With her interest in rock music, heavy metal, and “scream-o”, her style is tough and punky, with a dash of girl power. She has pale white skin, easy enough for her to sunburn.

Zaira likes wearing black-colored clothing, and black make-up, especially eyeliner. But this is not an everyday thing! On some days, she'll wear a different-colored t-shirt, mainly green or white, or a colored tee with her favorite band. Blue jeans is her best friend, she'll wear any type of jeans (pants, shorts, skirts) any day. Her preferred “everyday” style is a tight black short-sleeved shirt, a jean-styled short skirt, black knee-high socks, and white casual shoes with black laces. This is usually when she's out and about. On days when she's in town and in school, she wears skinny blue jeans.

The only part of her that's not black is her hairstyle. She has naturally bright pink hair. Her hair length is down to the back, but it is up to her shoulders when she makes two ponytails on the side, with black ponytail balls in each. In terms of makeup, she wears eyeliner and mascara, and pink lip gloss...you'll hardly notice it. Her friends in school describe her as someone not really into fashion, but to her...she considers her style “in”.

Personality:
Laid-back, calm, lax. Those are the three words you can describe Zaira. People would describe Zaira as a loner, based on her style of clothing, and her punkerish style. But she is very, very vibrant. She doesn't like to stay quiet. She likes to speak her mind, she'll mainly be the first to talk when she's with a group of friends. Basically, she'll just go on and on. On the downside though, Zaira has some anxiety issues. Nothing too severe, though...but she gets a bit nervous when trying out new things, which includes starting a journey. But she know hows to tolerate it by calming herself down. She doesn't like to be around large crowds of people, it bothers her a bit that she'll stay away from them. Alongside her issue, she can be a bit clumsy. As a result, she likes to take in any challenge and take a risk without seeing the side effects...no matter how crazy, dangerous or horrible they are.

Zaira never cared for school, but she is very studious. She would rather hang out with her friends rather than study for an exam the night before the day of the test. Who knows how she manages to pass a few of her exams (and easily fail a few :P). Her aunt pretty much shares the same personality with her, so it makes sense as to where her habits come from. In terms of Pokemon, and journeying, she hates being competitive. All Zaira wants is to befriend all of the Pokemon she meets, because she deeply cares for all of them. She'll do anything to help a sick and injured Pokemon, whether it'd be hers or not. At battle, she won't yell, scream, hesitate. She'll be calm, chill, and relaxed, even when losing. Bragging about winning isn't her thing, as it will make her look bad. If a trend of winnings tend to occur in her, she'll start to brag without even realizing about it.

History:
A native Unovan, Zaira was born in Accumula Town and raised in Iccirus City. Her mother died giving birth to her. She has no clue of who her father is. So as a result, her aunt had decided to take her in and raise her. Zaira is the granddaughter of Gym Leader Pryce of Mahogany Town. So basically, she grew up with ice, snow, the cold, and ice Pokemon. She's not a fan of the weather, nor the Ice-Type Pokemon, but she's grown to get used to it.

At 13 years old, Zaira started to learn about Pokemon and battling and became very interested in becoming a trainer herself. She wanted to start her journey across Unova, but her preoccupied aunt won't allow her due to her lack of studying and slipping grades in school. One summer, instead of dreaming of journeying across the region, she decided to visit her grandfather Pryce in Mahogany Town to learn more about Pokemon and battling. He once told Zaira that one day she'll have to take over the Mahogany gym, and he knows that she'll be a great Pokemon trainer and reach the top. Her ambition towards becoming a leader of the gym increases inside of her.

After that talk, as well as some training, she refocused on schoolwork once again for the next few years. Fast forward to 17 years old, and Zaira visited the Iccirus Gym with her aunt to watch a Gym Leader battle. It was Brycen versus a trainer from Kanto. She cheered for the trainer battling, but he ended up losing to Brycen in the end. After the battle, Zaira's aunt offered her to go off on a journey to become a Pokemon trainer. Zaira became very excited. Her effort in her schoolwork and studies have finally paid off. But...on one condition. She can't travel till she graduates from school.

And so she did. At 17 years old, she graduates from High School. More mature, and well educated, Zaira finally has all the time for herself to travel the path towards becoming a Pokemon trainer, and hopefully take Pryce's place as Gym Leader in the near future. Right now, she wants to know what it's like to be a trainer. Raising Pokemon, battling Pokemon, and caring for them. It's a new responsibility for her. Her aunt allowed her to travel in any region, but encouraged her to travel in Johto to challenge Pryce. She rejected the offer and has decided to set sail to Pangaea, a new region. She heard about Pangaea while she was at school, and wanted to learn more about their culture as well as the Pokemon over there. Zaira can only expect a wonderful experience as a first-time trainer.

Academy Cafeteria

Danielle and Lucia had agreed to get some grub at the cafeteria. Though Lucia had already ate, she agreed to accompany Danielle. The Cafeteria was at the far side of the campus, so it was somewhat of a long walk. Inside, it was more beautifully decorated and organized than the one in her old private school. It was half-full. Lucia and her Scizor, Roberto went ahead and started looking for a table somewhere near the entrance, while Danielle and Mienfoo went to grab food.

“Isn't this amazing, Mienfoo?” Danielle happily asked Mienfoo about her recent connection with Lucia, while she gets a red tray from the stacks. “I can't stop bragging for the fact that I have made a new friend already.” She grabbed a cup of chocolate pudding and placed it in the tray. “This is the best school ever so far. What do you think, Mienfoo?”

“Mienfoo...!” Mienfoo replied. He was glancing at the large bowl of pudding Danielle had gotten. He was hoping he would get another for himself, as he is more hungrier than she is.

“I'm sure Lucia will do great with her recently captured Aron. She just needs practice with obeying her though. Even though you both have battled, I'm sure you guys will be great friends. Even with her Scizor!” Danielle moved to the main course entry stand which had a variety of choices from hamburgers to tacos.

Mienfoo didn't quite like what Danielle had recently told her. He remembers the look Roberto had given to him from after the battle with Diana. It simply told him that he's a potential rival to him. He wanted to warn Danielle about it, but the hunger took over him and made him forget all about it.

Danielle grabbed a plate of Fettuccine Alfredo sprinkled with garlic and spices on top. “Even the food looks delish!” She also grabbed three oatmeal cookies, a bottle of cola-flavored soda, and sprinkled her Fettuccine Alfredo with Parmesan cheese. “Hey Mienfoo, do you want me to grab you a berry salad or do you want PokeBits?” She looked at Mienfoo, who was staring at her pudding.

“Mienfooooooo. Mien!” He immediately replied. He started tapping his foot, showing impatience for food.

“Okay then. I'm already done with my part. I'm doing yours,” she said, “You're carrying your own food, just so you know.”

Angel Bernadette Valentine
Goldenrod City

She read that message a bazillion times. She was ecstatic to get it started. Even her Delcatty, Bella, is excited to start exploring. Angel Bernadette Valentine arrives at Goldenrod City in a subway, eager to meet Hiro in person. What is he like? What will he act like? What does he want her to do? A mission? Those questions keep floating in her mind every time she thinks about it.

Angel hails from Hoenn, Petalburg City was her hometown. Her long black hair was tied in a pony tail, with her bangs on her left side. She wears a short jean skirt with long white socks and black shoes. Her shirt was a bit tight, and wears a red ascot around her neck. It seemed like she went to school, but she's been out of school a long time ago.

Bella purred right next to Angel. As the train got closer to the Goldenrod station, the intercom had announced of its arrival to the city.

“Now arriving: Goldenrod City.”

Angel and Bella were the first to get off the train. She passed through a few crowds, and exited the station. With not much to carry, as well as not much to walk with, she decided to release another Pokemon to walk with to the Department Store. “Come out, Kylie.”

The ball opened and quickly came out a Kirlia, nicknamed Kylie. “Kirliaaaaa!” She smiled and twirled around.

“Come, Kylie. We're going to the department store.” Angel said. Bella followed next to Kylie.

The city was vibrant...and it's not even rush hour. The people walked back and forth, and past Angel and her two Pokemon. She then spotted the large, tall building on the left corner. She quickly figured it was the department store. She was told to meet Hiro there, but she was also planning to buy a few things in there in the meantime.

The doors automatically opened, and she spotted a group of trainers at the corner of the first floor. “I think that's the group.” Angel said to her Pokemon. “Hiro's probably there, as well. I'm surprised a few people have arrived before me already.”

She walked towards the group of trainers, some were getting to know each other, some others were waiting on other trainers to come, or to wait for what Hiro had to say. Bella and Kylie stood there and glanced at the other Pokemon owned by the other trainers. She spotted Hiro, and waved at him. Hoping she'd get his attention.

Angel quickly assumed that these trainers are here for the same reason as hers. It was more likely a mission assignment.

@Meganium90 - You're accepted! sounds like her character suits Ledyba quite well, I'll look forward to seeing her in action.

Talking about action, with 5/6 character accepted I'll go ahead and post the first chapter soon. This is not the kind of roleplay that freezes until all players have posted. I'll post new chapters when a few people have finished the latest and encourage all of you to post at your own speed. Though if that own speed means no speed, I would quite prefer it if you let me know. It's understandable that one might not have any more time for a roleplay or that one simply tires of the setting/character.

EDIT: Also I've put the trainer information in the first post of the IC thread. I'd also like your opinion on this, do you prefer it to be in the IC thread or the OOC thread, as is more traditional?

So yes, announcement time/ out.

I kinda like this idea, but as Fuyu mentioned. Either is fine. At least it's nice to see who's playing as and many members who like to follow this roleplay can learn more about us "trainers". :)

I'm sorry SwiftSign, for now all the spots or taken or double-reserved. If you want I could let you know if a spot does open up the future C:

Overworld sprites might not be such a bad idea, though for now I'll keep it for when it gets to that (this is prettier haha). I'll definitely keep it in mind though.

Here's my sign up :D

Name: Carlos Fierro

Age: 17

Gender: Male

Appearance: Carlos stands at 5'9" and weighs 145 pounds. His body is well built, a majority of his appendages being well toned. The muscles are more visible on his lower body. His skin is a tone similar to those of the Mediterranean. His hair is thick and an average colour of brown. He styles it similarly to a mop. His eyes are a dull brown colour, and his nose is similar to that of your average seventeen year old male. His lips are rather thin, and they are home to the sparkling white teeth Carlos possesses.

Carlos can often be seen sporting a plain green t-shirt, with the circular collar being white along with a pair of black, skinny jeans. His feet are usually covered by a pair of white socks, which in turn are covered by a pair of green, high-top converse. He also has a one-strap, black backpack which carries all of his supplies. In times when athleticism is needed, Carlos exchanges his jeans for a pair of white, sporting shorts and his converse for a pair of white running shoes with a black trim. These extra clothes are held within his bag.

Personality: Carlos is a highly spirited and determined youngster. He has strived to be the best at everything he has attempted. He experienced mainly successes, especially in sporting aspects, which has lead to him becoming somewhat arrogant, overconfident and cocky. In recent times, Carlos has become more irritating to those who are around him as he has currently decided that it would be a good idea to gloat about his achievements at any given opportunity. Carlos also attempts to be the joker in the pack, as he thinks that people will like him more if he makes them laugh. As a result, he often offends people to make his friends laugh. Carlos believes that he is more deserving of praise than anyone else, and whenever anyone else receives plaudits he often comments about what they did wrong. This is an example of Carlos putting others down in an attempt to make himself better.

Despite all his confidence and success in sport, Carlos isn't the brightest tool in the shed. He often makes stupid and reckless decisions which he often highly regrets after. His attitude is that of someone who lives in the now, and doesn't think out any of their actions- however these decisions often backfire on him. He thinks that nothing bad will ever happen to him, despite all the injuries and trouble he has previously inflicted on himself. This shows his poor ability to predict future circumstances and risks, a trait he has shown reluctance to improve. He often says that; 'There's no point living without surprises!' He is a person who takes life for granted, and also shares this feeling with many other things in the world including Pokémon and his friendships. However, he is a very strong believer in karma, so he always goes out of his way to do good deeds, another questionable decision.

History: Carlos was born into a lower-middle class family in the Orre region, more specifically Agate village. Carlos barely spent anytime with his father as his father was often working as a local farmer to provide for his family. Carlos's home was very traditional, with his mother doing a majority of the housework. While the rest of Carlos's siblings would rather neglect their mother, Carlos would often assist her in doing the housework. As a result, Carlos and his mother built up a truly strong relationship. As a child Carlos showed very good athleticism and when he wasn't helping his mother or at school, Carlos's father ensured that he would participate in every sport available in the village. At first, Carlos was reluctant to get involved, but once he began he obtained great joy from them. He was especially successful when it came to running and football. Carlos then began to spend less and less time with his mother in order to play sports.

When he turned sixteen, Carlos ran away from home without warning. He head to Pyrite town and got involved with a gang. He began to steal, fight and even assault people to impress his new 'friends.' He was eventually caught by the local police force, and was let off with a warning. However, this didn't stop Carlos, in fact he now thought he wouldn't get in trouble and would just be let off with another warning, showing his naivety. Not too long after, Carlos and five others broke into a house in the north of Pyrite town. Before they could begin taking items a man ran into the room and confronted Carlos's gang. Before Carlos could react, one of the boys in the gang darted towards the man and stabbed him in his chest. The man then let out a shout of pain, and a young child could be heard calling for their father. Carlos couldn't move as the rest of the young males fled, but was dragged out of the house by a fellow gang member. After that moment, Carlos left Pyrite town to return home after spending a year in Pyrite.

When he arrived back in Agate village, he seen that the murder of a man in Pyrite town inside his own house had taken place was all over the news. This made Carlos sick to his stomach. How could he have been part of such an evil act, and why did he give up his family to join the gang in the first place? However, Carlos acted as if he was oblivious to the news on the male. He spent all of his time with his family, eager to make up for time lost. One month after Carlos returned, his mother became violently ill and was taken to Phenac city for treatment, where she was accompanied by both Carlos and his older brother, Andrés. Carlos spent all his time with his mother while Andrés spent a lot of time out socializing with the locals. One month later, Carlos's mother took a turn for the worst. Carlos then went looking for his brother, and when he did he confronted him. Andrés defended his behaviour, however Carlos was having none of it. Not too long after, the hospital sent the bill to Carlos's home in Agate village. The bills were outrageous and the family couldn't pay them. Carlos was then unable to stay around his mother without breaking down in tears. Carlos then overheard two locals talking about the Pangaea region, and how Professor Cypress was giving away Pokémon. He decided this was his opportunity to earn money via. battling and send it to help contribute to his mothers medical bills. He set off to Pangaea after bading his mother farewell.

Roleplay sample: Just a quick sample from when I used to RP on a different site..
Spoiler:
Feeling a need to redeem myself, as well as challenge myself I had challenged the Champion of the Super Elite Four. During my exile for the past six months in Pacifidilog town I had cut myself off from the rest of the world. I spent the entire time training my Pokémon and currently had a plentiful selection of high powered Pokémon at my disposal. However my current party was my favourite team for battling as I had a vary of types and I believed that they could rival any trainers. I had selected this time for the battle. During this time I had no idea who the Super Elite Four were, let alone who the champion was. I had heard of them the moment I reconnected with the world. They were apparently the four strongest trainers there were, championed by the strongest of all time. At the time I scoffed at this. How could they be stronger than all those I've lost to? However I realised how strong they were over time. I immediately filed to challenge the leader.

The battle was highly endorsed with posters, television advertisements and on the internet. I welcomed this as there would be more of a crowd to see me reiterate myself in glory. I smiled wryly to myself while thinking this as I entered the arena where the battle would take place. I glanced upwards towards the champion and locked eyes with him. Upon hearing the comments of my opponent I grinned more widely than I had in a long time. The adrenaline of the battle was getting to me. I quickly scanned my surroundings. I had a decent support in the crowd, much more than I had expected. After that incident after all.. However my fans had stuck by me and would see several Pokémon I doubt they'd ever seen from my collection before.

'Good luck Zane,' was all I uttered before selecting one of my Pokémon. I unclipped the capsule it was confined to from my belt.
