Sometimes, to prepare myself to sleep, I lie awake and think about a lot of stuff for about 10 minutes. usually a lot of ideas come into my head and I write them down. When I start to feel drowsy, it when I try to sleep. Most importantly, there has to be the tiniest bit of light in the dark room otherwise I won't be able to sleep easily.

Also, I make sure that I don't see my clock, because that can bring out insomnia too, because you think "I should be asleep by now" and then you can't doze off. I can't sleep if there is music; it has to be either total silence or just a few small quiet sounds.

I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep most nights, never really worked out why. :x But I usually go to bed at 11PM (ignore the fact that it's 1:30AM right now...) and get to sleep by 2AM-ish, so yeah, tips on sleeping easiest would be lovely. x] Before bed I don't really do much; normally just read then go to sleep. Oh the exciting life I lead c:

I try to go to bed at the same time every night and I also try to make sure I'll get at least 8 hours of sleep. I mean, that's kind of a pipe dream nowadays since I've had insomnia for several years but 8 hours has been my target since I was a kid and it's comforting to stick with it. I've learnt that I actually function way better on 9 or 10 hours but 8 is probably my minimum for not being too tired the next day. Also, if it's after 2:30am, I will try to drop everything and head to bed if I haven't already.

Anyway, these days, I'll take my sleeping pill (tryptophan, just started it last month) a few hours before I go to bed. Then I try to get off the computer and stay away from any electronics for at least an hour before I intend to fall asleep. No eating, exercising, or homework during this time because it gets me too wound up. If it's a day that I'm allowed to take my old sleeping pills too, I'll take that just before I crawl into bed and then I

...and then I eventually break the "no electronics" rule to watch youtube videos as I lie there hating myself for being unable to sleep and come 4am on the dot when I'm inevitably still awake and the birds outside start chirping incessantly even though it's not light out, I start whining about my lack of sleep on twitter. (Yeah, I get pretty bitter about it. xD)

I have so many although they don't work for me. XD;

- no caffeine/alcohol within four hours of your intended bedtime
- no LCD screens within one hour
- don't use your bed for anything but sleeping (it's best to not use your room at all for anything but sleeping but I know that's not an option for most people)
- no exercise within one hour
- wake up at the same time every day
- ...and try not to sleep in or take naps
- spend more time outside during the day
- try to keep noise/light out of your room when you're trying to sleep

Some of these are pretty obvious but you don't even realize you do them... or I don't... like the light in your room thing. I actually covered up my window recently and the lack of seeing a glimmer of streetlights helped immensely!

Well what I said above isn't what I normally do, just lately when I have a very hard time getting to sleep.

Normally I go to bed whenever I get tired, or notice it's very late. That's between 2 and 6am o.e . Usually I just drink some tea, and listen to music. I close my computer ,change into sweatpants and a t-shirt and most of the time lay in bed a bit, say a prayer or just think about things for a bit. If I'm extremely tired, I just go upstairs in whatever I'm wearing and pass out. XD

if it's early, I cover the window with a blanket to keep out light.

I really need to get to bed earlier, my sleep schedule is awful. lol.

Well, I don't really have any rituals. I usually just read a book or stick my TV on and wait until I randomly just dose off. xD

I usually just go to sleep when I feel like it, as late as possible, cause I hate sleeping. :S
There was nothing. Followed by everything. Swirling, burning specks of creation that circled life-giving suns. And then we reached to the light.

Okay let's see. For me I find it easy to sleep during the day if I listen to music from B/W in my headphones. Or in general. idk I can sleep at any time of day if I force myself.

As for at night I get yelled at to sleep. As a result I get up, do the basics before bed like cleaning teeth etc, pat the dog before sleeping and stuff, then I go on my iPhone for a few hours before sleep. :3 Oh right and when it's actually time to sleep I just... sleep. Only thing I make sure of is that I'm lying on my left side before sleeping unless I accidentally fall asleep on my right side for a bit, I can't actually sleep for the whole night unless I fall off to sleep on the left I think lmao.

I'm sleep deprived whenever school's in session. Now that school's out, you'd think I'd be able to get some sleep, but nooooo. I'm stuck. >> So what I do is read a book until I feel drowsy, though that can take until 2 in the morning. After I finish a chapter, I put the book down and just crash.
he did it, not me.
