[ prolouge ]

As the young but strong man from the land of shamans made his way across the scorched and barren lands of Tobyan, he stopped to have a look to his left, then to his right, but no one alive was in sight. This has become worse than he could possibly imagine - the great evil that washed over the land for years have taken away the life and spiritual energy of the people who had been in fear of this darkness every day, and every night. The young man and soon learned about 6 legendary medallions, on which if they collected them all, a powerful rainbow spirit would arise, on who had the power to finally rid the evil that washes over the once peaceful land.

As the young man collected these medallions from the harshest natural conditions, he saw monsters started appearing in the wild, which were different from the animals he saw before - he sensed they had a strange shadow aura. The young man couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the violent and crude behavior that these monsters exhibited. Could they be the physical form of restless spirits of the deceased who was influenced by the darkness? No matter how much the young man fought and defended himself, these monsters wouldn't stop appearing.

Things were looking bleak for him until he saw another monster. However, this monster was different; while it was smaller than the other monsters, it drove off the evil with its powerful golden Thunder attack. Could this be a malevolent spirit of one of the deceased who took on a physical form, who developed an ego to punish the unjust? When the fierce battle was over, the boy started to communicate with the small monster spirit, where they both realized they both had a similar goal - to seal the spouting darkness and bring peace to Tobyan once again. From that point on, the young man and the monster spirit became partners.

The young man and his monster partner crossed seas, climbed mountains, and ventured through dark caves. Soon, they succeeded on collecting the legendary 6 medallions, on which their goal now, was to rid of the darkness once and for all. Soon, they encountered the source of this evil - a sinister being known as Khaos. Once upon a time, Khaos was feared as the ancient king long ago when the evil first began spouting over Tobyan, who had the ability to use shaman and shaman mage magic to defeat all enemies who stood before him. Soon Khaos acquired the knowledge to perform dark magic, which he used to cover the land of darkness to show the land that those foolish enough to stand before him will enter a never-ending nightmare that does not compare to his rulings before he acquired his dark magic.

Soon, the boy and his monster partner entered Khaos's castle, encountering him with a swarm of his shadow creatures. After an exchange of words, the battle finally began. They fought for 3 days and three nights, with the shadow creatures defeated, but with the boy and his partner pokemon feeling exhausted and injured from the shadow creatures' attacks. As Khaos joined in the fray to deliver the finishing blow, the 6 medallions started to glow. Khaos was surprised to then see the medallions giving off light towards the sky. The lights merged together, forming the presence of a rainbow spirit - a large bird who had feathers like a rainbow. Then come the red Sacred Fire from the bird, where its power was enough to purge the shadows and evil resonating from the monsters, and from Khaos. Khaos couldn't stop these flames, even with his magic, so he was soon engulfed by these flames, sealing him towards an old emerald tablet the boy now possessed.

Then came once again, the sacred fires from the rainbow bird illuminated, bringing color and life back to Tobyan, and all her people and animals back to life. The monsters were also dispelled of their darkness, where the people befriended them, becoming a family. Thus, the boy and his monster partner were both recognized as true heroes.

[ The region of Tobyan ]

In the times of the wild, wild west era, Tobyan is pretty much known as a wild, wild, west Indian-american-esque society. The people there worshiped nature and all her beauty, believing that the spirits whom surrounded each and every one of them gave them the necessities from nature that allowed them to live happily. In fact, people always relied and thanked the spirits for pretty much everything they got - from the animal life they hunted, to the fresh water from the local rivers.

The people of Tobyan live in eight separate tribes. These tribes are led by chiefs. These chiefs basically decide the political and social terms of their tribe. The only way one could be a village chief was either by blood, or by a democratic system. Shamans are titles given to people who gained the knowledge to use magic to cure the sick, controlling the unknown, and even solving the world's most perplexing mysteries.

What's even more special about these tribes, is that it is believed that some of them were nearby the sites of where the ancient heroes found one of the six legendary medallions. Because of the tales about these medallions passed down from generation to generation, the Tobyanians decided to make a bunch of replicas of these medallions, made out of copper or other metal material. While they are not authentic, people - especially children, can start collecting them when they've come at age.

[ The Six Medallions ]

It's believed that these medallions represent elemental energy in the world. One famous tale about them when they were all together, a giant powerful bird with rainbow feathers would fly from the heavens, with it's power under the bearer's command. However, the original six medallions were so powerful that the people in Tobyan sealed each one away in specific, yet not exactly known, locations. The only thing is known is that these medallions were sealed well within 6 towns that presented their element well. However, to pay respect to these medallions, certain towns have made replicas of each elemental medallion, to be collected by anyone, especially children, who is traveling in each town. If someone were to collect all of these replica medallions, they would be recognized as a well-respected and influential person. The names and description of each medallion are as followed:

Dendō, the medallion of thunder and lightning. This medallion represents spirits of thunder and lightning that is said to be only produced by the gods. It's said that those who possessed this medallion gains the ability to strike down foes with unrivaled speeds.

Kusa, the medallion of the trees. This medallion represents the spirits who created plant and forest life, who brought their green fields. A rumor tells that those who possessed this medallion, gains eternal life.

Kasai, the medallion of the flames. This medallion represents the sacred flames that re-shape the world, as well as the dangerous flames that burns down anything in sight. It's been told that those who has this medallion, gains the ability to control the powerful flames.

Mizu, the medallion of the rivers. This medallion represents the flowing water of the lakes, rivers, and oceans, and how they help each living being sustain their own life. Although it's not been confirmed, those who gets this medallion has the power to heal an injured soul.

Seishin, the Medallion of Energy. Spiritual energy is what this medallion represents. This energy is more recognized by shamans, who use this magic to unravel the unknown, and control things to their will. In other words, psychic energy.

Gōsuto, the Medallion of the dead. This medallion represents the land of the dead, and the ghosts who inhibit the world. These ghosts are not to be feared, however, since they are just as happy to communicate with humans as any other spirit. This is a folktale, but those who gains this medallion has the power visit the house of the dead.

Each replica medallion is given by a sort of Battle Master, if you defeat or impress them in a pokemon battle. Many kids have been trying to collect these symbols - some failed, some succeeded. Why do they try? Again, it's for respect, and influence, however, they can also collect other rewards, such as wealth, food, and water for their family.

[ The Pokemon ]

It is believed that Pokemon were the spirits of deceased animals that took on a physical form. However, despite them being considered 'monsters', they are actually quite friendly towards people - under great care, of course. As such, the people soon gave these monsters a new name: pokemon. Like in Modern times, the Pokemon were owned by people, to perform a number of tasks such as hunting, scavenging, fishing, cleaning, and so on. Soon, the Tobyanian people created a new sport - the sport known as pokemon battling.

Pokemon battling consisted of two or more pokemon performing magic, or moves under the commands of their owners, until one is rendered unable to battle, which the other would win. Thanks to that, the people thought they were able to control magic itself, under the helm of their pokemon. Shamans especially used pokemon to conduct their healing magic, with moves such as Softboiled and Heal Bell. However, not all people used pokemon magic for good - some used it for their own personal malice. People even used pokemon for theft, pillaging, even a threat to kill. Because of that, crime rates have gone up the last couple of years.

As for pokemon technology, apricorns were the ancestor of the modern day pokeball. These apricorns would open up to seal a pokemon inside, keeping it nice and safe away from crowds. No one really knows why and how apricons an do this, but yet, no one really went into great lengths to figure it out. The best part for kids is that they were light, and very handy to carry their pokemon around in, not to mention that they can be painted in any color.

[ The Major Landmarks ]

Kalay: Most children start their adventures in this quiet and peaceful land. The Wanaka tribe rests in here. This place is filled with giant tepee's, which is where the people of the land lives in. The soil here is rich and filled with minerals, and there is also fresh water that streams from the rivers. The rivers are clean, the trees are frisk, the ground is not too musty... everything about this town is very remote and ideal to live in. There is also a sanctuary here, but unless you're a shaman or one of the council elders, it's forbidden to go inside. It's forbidden, because it's said to rest a stone emerald tablet that it is believed to hold dark and unholy powers. No one must ever tamper or disturb it.

Dalia: The town of Dalia is widely known for the trading market. People from all over the land come to this town to trade goods across the country, even towards the lands of Kanto. This is also arguably one of the biggest towns of Tobyan - the buildings are made out of sturdy wood, nailed together with steel nails, all put together under a sturdy wooden roof.

Jüradku: Residing near the heart of a desert, Jüradku is a pretty odd town where the women population greatly exceeds the men. The women never really depended on the men; they would do all of the general labor, from battling, to hunting, while males would generally lie around in their homes all day. These women are the sole members and founders of the Jüradku tribe. The Jüradku Desert nearby is a sort of spooky spiritual place where it is believed that without the proper assistance of the monster spirits there, one would be lost in the desert forever.

Deko: While this town is in Tobyan, this town does not technically have Tobyanian natives. It was founded by a monk who did grasp the concept of spiritualism, but this town was not affiliated with Tobyan in anyway, since it was, back then, founded in an area that is not technically in Tobyan soil. You can say that this town represents the ancient Chinese culture. Instead of a tribe, a famous clan resides here. The Colthearts family clan. The Colthearts are a family who were known for communicating with spirits, and with the land of the dead. The leader, and master of the Colthearts clan was the one who's connection to the spirit world, and the land of the dead was the strongest of them all. However, the "spiritual power" of the Colthearts clan was always inherited by the females of the group.

Suijin: This town is almost surrounded by flowing rivers and lakes. The most famous ocean resides here too - an ocean known as Ruta. Ruta is a famous ocean because most of Tobyan's marine life live there. In fact, most of the land's fresh fish comes from the Ruta ocean as well. Even marine pokemon live in here: Magikarp, Feebas, Remoraid, Carvanha, and so on. This town is also home to the Neptune Tribe, who worships a legendary sea god king who had the power to give water during a drought, and bless the town with rain for their plants. Interestingly enough, they also fear Gyarados, sea serpents that terrify the people of this land.

Kuroko Gulch: Located near a desert filled with mountains, this is a fairly musty, sandy and large town where settlers and foreigners from across the world live in. These settlers... well, you can call them your average cowboys/cowgirls, miners, even scavengers. The cowboys/cowgirls usually like to rest and unwind from traveling on their steads - or in this case, their Ponytas and Rapidashes. A lot of miners here come to this town to investigate a lake where it is famous for finding gold, and other valuable treasures. The town is led by a sheriff, who has a job to maintain order in this town. This town actually has been taken over from the Tobyan people a long time ago, where war was imminent. The Ranchers, a group that consists of cowboys and horse riders, took this land from the Tobyanian people, putting an end to the harsh war that was supposed to last for years. However, because of that, there has been a lot of 'bad blood' between these ranchers, and Tobyanian natives.

Wanako: This is a town that is located near the foot of an inactive volcano. The tribe in this land, the Onaku tribe, worships the fire spirits that help this volcano remain stable. This town is also famous for Sacred Ashes, a material that is used to make one of the most powerful medicines of curing any illness.

Ookaraha: Every 100 years, the Ookaraha tribe from this land celebrates the becoming of a new witch-doctor. The witch-doctor is believed to have the most powerful magic in Tobyan. This is also the place where the most Shamans in Tobyan live in, learning more about magic and how to control the unknown with their will. Interestingly enough, the people in this land also love music; if one were to enter this land, they would instantly hear the sounds of drums.

Marjat: This land rests in the heart of a dense forest. Land animals and pokemon are most populated in this forest area as well. This area is more famous for it's wood and fruit, since there's enough trees and fruit life for them to have a supply for habitable wood, as well as healthy vegetation for years to come. It's interesting to note that the people who live in this land, also known as the Miraj tribe, tell tales about one day, a young child is going to arrive, passing a very important trial to be fully recognized as a hero. This trial consists of two tests: cooperation, and combat. No one as ever passed this trial, however, that did not discourage the tribe leader of waiting for this hero.

[ The Plot ]

As the hot days continue by in Tobyan, there has been talk about two of the most notorious tribes: the Nero tribe, and the Zettai-tekina tribe. The latter, the Zettai-tekina tribe, have always had an idea that the world is not pure, in a sense that people are still committing sins everyday, like if people were followed by inner demons. So, this tribe made it their purpose to eradicate all evil and suffering, even if it means picking off tainted human life. An 19-year old lady, Lynn, is the leader of this tribe, has ideals and strength that the other tribe members follow without question. However, it's believed by these tribe members that those who do not follow Lynn's 'holy ideals' are considered tainted, and must be eradicated, humans and pokemon alike. They've also know about the six legendary medallions quite well, and one day, they've wondered about what they can do to cleanse the world with the legendary rainbow bird's power...

The other tribe, the Nero tribe, is a pretty shady tribe. Their only purpose is to gain wealth and power, destroying all those who stand in their way. Their sinister acts of pillaging, murdering, and theft made them the most dangerous tribe in the land, warning anyone that those who defy them will be compromised. Their tribe is led by the shady Zane, who strives to gain as much power as he could, which is needed to survive in this world. He remembers the tale of the emerald tablet, and all of the dark and forbidden secrets it possessed. One day, he thought, "with that tablet in my possession, infinite power will be mine..."

As a young teen or young adult living in Kalay, you've made it your dream to collect the replica six medallions to be famous, and have riches and food for you and your family. Or, you might have some other goal with the medallions in mind. Along side your pokemon partners, you've heard about the bad blood between the Ranchers and the Tobyanians, and you might want to perhaps, strengthen the bonds between the two of them with influence. Or, you might want to strength the ties between pokemon and humans, so that people won't have to fear the pokemon, but to care and love them. Well, whatever you decide to do, train hard, however, because there is harsh obstacles in this journey - fierce battles, hard trials, quirky people, side-quests of your own...

...perhaps even a forbidden, sealed darkness.

[ Game Mechanics + Info ]

~ As this RP follows a main plot, you ARE of course allowed to create your own side quests, and other tales if you wish - that would be more fun. :3

~ Sometimes there are certain special events that you have to follow, but they're open for you to do whatever you want to complete them! You can also make up an adventure on top of that, so, I'll leave that creativity up to you.

~ You are allowed to make up interaction posts, or joint posts at any time. As long as it's okay for the person you are interacting with!

~ Regarding Battle Master battles for a medallion, you can write them whenever you want inside a town and don't have to wait for the Master to rest up or anything if you happen to post your Arena battle right after another player's.

~ Yes, you can have more than 6 pokemon at a time in this RP. There's no restrictions, as long as you find a way to keep track of them all. (in any case, transfer systems didn't really exist yet, so...)

May I please reserve Umbreon? I'm working on my SU as we speak. Complete.

----------------

Name | Arkan Maes

Age | 16

Gender | Male

Starter | Umbreon + TM30 Shadowball

Appearance | Arkan - With a darkened, tan skin tone and midnight black hair, Arkan is often regarded as a mysterious, sullen fellow who seems juvenile. He often sports a beige coat with a black under shirt. He wears charcoal black pants and casual shoes. His eyes are a milky brown, nearly approaching an amber colour. He appears to have no flaw on his skin, but then again, you can't judge a book by it's cover.

Personality | Although nonchalant at times, Arkan is actually a bright, warm-hearted person who cares for Pokemon and peace within Tobyan. His general nature is received as dark, and he often secludes himself to a sarcastic or serious stature. He prefers to be alone with his Pokemon, and works best while doing the same. He has little fear, but like most people in Tobyan, is afraid of watching the region fall to a lesser state. Although he prefers to stay quiet on the matters, he isn't afraid to speak up about subjects that go against his morals, as well as those that threaten the peaceful nature of Tobyan. To Arkan, it isn't about the fame or the fortune, but the goal of letting Tobyan stand as a strong region, and the respect that comes with knowing you helped. Following this motto, Arkan will always fight for what matters to him, and what matters to those he trusts.

History | Born in Wanako as a single child, Arkan's parents named him after his deceased grandfather who had originally run their shop in town. Famous for their healing medicine for Pokemon, Arkan's family had always been one to connect peace to the living creatures and had abstained from Pokemon battles. Although Arkan followed the same passion as his parents for peace with Pokemon, he did not believe in denying the nature of Pokemon battles. If Pokemon were to become stronger, they needed competition. Although not a fan of giving Pokemon pain, he prefers to train hard with his Pokemon and work with the utmost care for them. Upon Arkan's tenth birthday, his family's business was unfortunately forced to close because of the lack of customers. Unbeknown as to why their business fell so quickly, the Maes family moved to Kalay after Arkan's father was accepted a job as a miner. Arriving in Kalay, the family began their new life as a small income household. Living amongst the various teepees that lined the town's community, Arkan slowly grew as both a person and a trainer, vowing his morals in place before anything else.

RP Sample | I've never actually RP'd here before, but I guess I can get one going now.
Spoiler:
Watching as the amber light bled down the stone walls, the boy paced back and forth, his sullen brown eyes casting a nonchalant gaze wherever he looked. His coat billowed in the casual breeze that overlapped the ruins of the building that stood here previous. A small, black creature with yellow, glowing rings on it's body sat still, watching it's master pace. It made a small sound, looking over to the lamp that gave off the poorly illuminated light. The small flame that basked on the candle was slowly dying, a dim atmospheric tone spreading throughout the ruined stone house. Looking back up at it's master once more, the creature stood on all fours.
"Bree.." it said softly, watching as the boy looked down at it. Giving an unhearty smirk, the boy leaned down and pet the creature slowly.
"I know, I'm worried too, Umbreon. I can't bare to think of.." he started, finishing off with a glance into the midnight blue. ".. Of what's happened."

Watching as the small, black creature walked over to the ruined doorway, the boy walked to it's side once more and looked into the ocean that lay ahead of them. Umbreon casually lifted it's head to check on it's master, only to see a grim look of regret painted on his darkened face. "If anything, he won't be back. But then again, how would we know?" he asked, looking down at his companion. Umbreon simply stared back at the ocean, scanning it's shoreline.
"Umbree.."

The clouds above twisted and swirled into a malicious overcast, their wispy features floating gently amongst the star strewn sky. The light given off in the distance was clear a town sat quietly, it's borderline not too far from where the two stood. Coolly gesturing for Umberon to follow him, the boy made his way down the hill and onto the plain. Walking together, the two headed for the town, an ambition plastered on the boy's face. It wasn't the most peaceful of times, but someone was going to fix that.

Can I reserve for Vaporeon? Edit: Done :D

Name | Ayame "Aya" Wolfe

Age | 16

Gender | Female

Starter | Vaporeon, Female, Natural Gift

Appearance | Height: 5'3
Weight: 105 lbs
Birthmarks/scars: she has a scar on her left arm and a birthmark shaped like a heart on her neck.
Face: Ayame has Tan skin and sapphire blue eyes, her hair is short and is blueish black in color. She has an aqua blue bow in her hair (the one in the pic just a different color.)
Spoiler:

Clothing: Dress: Ayame dresses in a knee length aqua blue Chinese styled dress, it's her way of keeping her mothers culture with her, she wears white leggings under it
Spoiler:
She wears white leggings under the dress

Shoes: Ayame wears a pair of aqua blue Moccasins on her feet to keep her fathers culture with her.
Spoiler:

Bag: She carries this bag her grandfather made for her.
Spoiler:

Personality | Ayame has always been extremely misunderstood by others her whole life just because of the way she acts. She is a sweet and kind soul who doesn't have it in her to harm another thing living or not. She is also very spiritual though this is due to the fact she is part of her being part of the Colthearts Clan. Ayame prays a lot and stares at things only she can see as well as speak to things only she can hear as well. Other children made fun of her and called her crazy but Ayame didn't let that bother her. She had her faith and the spirits as well as her father. She will often ask the spirits for guidance and listen to them in most cases. Though above all else she wants to have friends, to meet others who won't make fun of her for the way she was born.

History | Ayame was born in Deko as part of the Colthearts Clan on her mothers side. Sadly though her mother Sae Wolfe died in childbirth leaving Ayame with her father Sani Wolfe. Sani took Ayame away from Deko and back to his hometown Kalay to raise her there not wanting to be around his dead wives family. Ayame was raised with love and care from her father and step-mother Chu'si. Her father had given her several notebooks her mother had written about the families spiritual connection within the females. These notes helped Ayame understand what was going on when she first started hearing voices and seeing things. As time went on she accepted it but the problem was because they had moved to Kalay when she was an infant there was no one else around her that didn't make fun of her for being different. Now at 16 Ayame has heard about the Medallions, and the trouble between the Ranchers and the Tobyanians. Though Ayame's goal isn't for fame and fortune she wants to strengthen the bond between humans and Pokemon, and hopefully get people to accept those that are different.

RP Sample | First post from my RP Celestial League that has just started
Spoiler:
Name: Evangeline Jasmine Celine
Location: Aurora Town

Evangeline smiled to herself as she stood at the front of the ship looking over at the water as land got closer and closer. There was a slight breeze blowing through her blond hair and she straighted out her hat looking up at the sky. The sky was a mix of light blue, red, orange, and yellow and the sun could be seen rising on the horizen. If she had to guess it was probably around seven in the morning. As Evangeline looked at the water she smiled to herself. "What a great day to start my journey, I hope any other trainers I meet are nice, and that my first Pokemon likes me" she thought as the ship came to a stop at a long dock.

Making sure she had her bag the fifteen year old girl ran off the ship and down the dock coming to a stop at a path leading to the entrance to Aurora Town. Taking a breath she walked at a slow pace taking a look around. The path was dirt and there was grass and flowers all around. Houses and what looked like a small restaurant and a cafe lined the single path on both sides. Aurora was a small town she had heard. All the buildings looked to have a building style similar to what she had seen on Village Bridge back in Unova. After a moment she saw the familiar red roof of the Pokemon Center and entered the building going right to one of the video phones and dialing home waiting for an answer as she looked at the screen.

"Hello" a male voice said before a smiling face appeared on the screen. The man had the same dark skin that Evangeline has but his hair was black instead of blonde. "Eva, I see you made it alright, your mother isn't home but I'll be sure to tell her you called"

"Thanks papa, and yeah the boat ride here was a peace of cake, only two days on a boat" Evangeline smiled happily.

"that's great Eva. Have you gotten your Pokemon yet?"

"Not yet Papa, from what I heard on the boat she'll have ten Pokemon each one a different type. If there's an electric type I'm gonna chose that"

"Well that's great, I'll have to tell Elesa next time I see her, she didn't know you were leaving, she got a little worried"

Evangeline shook her head and sighed. "do tell her, and remind her that what happened wasn't her fault. It was eight years ago, she's more than made up for it. Plus if it hadn't happened I wouldn't be able to understand Pokemon. But Papa I have to go, I'll call you when I reach the next town okay"

"alright Eva. Stay safe I love you"

"I love you too Papa, bye" Evangeline said and hung up the phone before leaving the Pokemon Center. Walking a few feet down the road she spotted the large white windowed building of the lab. The building was surrounded by plant-life and had a hedge fence around it without a gate. Walking up to the doors she tried to open it only to find it was locked. "Oh Well I'll just wait" she thought before sitting on the ground leaning against the wall and pulling out her sketchbook and charcoal pencil before continuing work on her charcoal drawing of Elesa's Emolga.

Other | She is from the Colthearts clan and has the spiritual power. she can see and hear things no one else can.

Cheers you guys~! Juuust know that I won't be taking reservations -per se-, but you know; I'll be taking in the most interesting characters.

@First snow: basically, I'd just stay away from the modern jeans and all that; just think say... 'feathers' or 'robes', etc.

@~Genevieve~: Well, I was going to ask for a written description of the clothing, but sinceeee I got the gist of it, I'll accept you! Juuust as long as your active, of course~

I know I was accepted but I did add a written description of her clothes next to the image outside the spoilers, I also changed her shoes, gave her a bag, and added her height, weight, and scars/birthmarks.

Also added her theme song

And I'll definantly be active, I might have a show some days but it'll only be a few hours like it was today

He trained hard hoping to live up to the chiefs exceptions of being the prophesied hero of legend he had so long waited for. Though his parents we're too supportive as they watched many fail the trial including his father he wasn't deterred and hoped to accomplish what his father couldn't do along with gathering the six medallions.

Name |
Minh Phan (Since you said Colthearts were Asian in appearance, I opted for a Vietnamese name.)

Age |
14

Gender |
Male

Starter |

Female
- Icy Wind
- Helping Hand
- Sand-Attack
- Mirror Coat

Appearance |
Minh Pham has a mix of Coltheart and Tobyanian blood. His hair is a weird mix of brown black and his eyes are brown. Most Coltheart people have squinty eyes, but with his mixed blood, Minh’s eyes have a little round aspect towards them. For some odd reason, his short mother and his tall father produced a child who was ridiculously short instead of a mixed boy who reached towards the sky. He barely stands at 4’9”. Instead of being freakishly pale like her mother, Minh’s skin is a bit darker, courtesy of his Tobyanian blood.

Minh usually wears very loose, almost pajama like clothing made from silk. The pajama like clothing consists of a white button up shirt that is somewhat long and has slits adorned on the sides forming slits that are used as pockets and white silk pants. Instead of shoes, he adorns typical flip flops and a teddiursa like bag made of felts that his mother made.

Personality |
Minh rarely ever talks. It isn’t because he is shy or intimidated. He just genuinely doesn’t want to talk. This not wanting not to talk was a coping mechanism when he was a little boy when he was shunned by the other kids for having “dirty blood” and this coping mechanism grew to a genuine want to not talk. He doesn’t talk unless he totally has to, like when he is playing mahjong or when he is talking to his mother. When he talks, his voice is really soft and a bit raspy because of the inactivity of his vocal cords.

Even though his father disappeared, Minh was always curious about him. He loved and still loves hearing stories about him. Minh, in a way, idolizes him through the stories his mother would tell him He loved and still loves the way his mother’s eyes just lights up when telling stories about him. Hearing these stories made him want to become a shaman so he can travel around to find him, wherever he may be.

He is very caring towards those who he holds dear. He listens to their needs and makes mental notes to himself about things they notice and things they learn about this person. He never forgets a birthday and he will almost always get someone what they want. He knows how to keep a secret since he barely talks anyways, so people tend to tell him many things as they know he'll remain silent. He dislike making others feel alone, especially to those he cares about and even to complete strangers.

When Minh is nervous, he chews on the stuffed bunneary, the only thing his father left behind before his disappearance and something he has owned all throughout his life. He doesn’t go anywhere without it and when it isn’t anywhere within his sight, he feels very uncomfortable and empty without it.

Minh has this weird obsession with cowboy clothing ever since he saw a movie about cowboys. One day, he wants to have the courage to buy his own vest, white polo, leather boots, jeans, a red bandana, and a ten gallon hat. And he also wants to pick up an accent.

History |
Minh was born from Coltheart and Tobyanin blood. His mother was a Coltheart and his Father a Tobyanin. His father disappeared when he was very young and his mother has been taking care of him ever since. As a child born of mix blood, he was an outcast even amongst his own gender. His Tobyanin blood was what the Coldhearts called “dirty blood” and he was held with disgust among the people of Deko. His mother didn’t care much for it though as she tried to raise Minh with the best of her ability and it wasn’t like raising Minh would make her more of an outcast then she already was. She was a woman who, for some odd reason, was born without any spiritual power.

Boys of the Coltheart bloodline usually turned to mahjong as their outlet for entertainment and time consumption since the boys of the Coltheart line didn’t inherit spiritual powers. Minh was one of those boys. He learned mahjong from his mother, who had turned to mahjong as an outlet. Minh picked up his mother’s monstrous skill and was known for his skill amongst the other mahjong players. (Mahjong is also highly based on luck, the kind of skill I am talking can be found in the Saki manga.)

He moved to Kalay a few years ago, without really knowing the reason why. However, Minh didn’t mind because that was where people became shamans and if Minh became a shaman he would have the right to travel around to look for his father and bring him back home. What Minh doesn’t know, was that his mother was following a lead that led her there.

Spoiler:

Drew Mason
Gardevoir [Mary], Altaria [Mr. Puff], Milotic [Lulu], Roserade [Ms. Roro], Aggron [Tiki], and Beautifly [Soul]
Streets of Goldenrod -> Goldenrod Department Store (Roof)

Goldenrod City was bustling as ever. It was just like any other big city scattered across the world. Pollution filled the air as cars roared on, buildings shot straight towards the sky, people were looking at their watches instead of the road, and all the intersections were filled with people. Drew, a visitor at the moment, had to admit that the air was much cleaner than Lilycove City. It was a nice change, but it couldn’t beat Lilycove, not in a million years, unless somehow Denny died in the middle of the road. Drew hoped that it didn’t happen anytime soon.

When he entered the city he immediately began weaving in and out the gaps of the crowd that seemed to populate the city. At times he even moved along the wave of the movement of people. Drew, in all honesty, didn’t want to be here. Hiro, a pen pal of his, had called upon him. At first he didn’t want to go, but he couldn’t find the courage to reject him, so he left the walls of his home and got on the next plane to Goldenrod.

Earlier he had seen a poster of someone very familiar and he already wanted to leave. The poster was an advertisement of the movie and it was a poster of a movie that his older brother, Daniel, was going to be in. It was obvious that it was his movie with his picture plastered on every poster. Apparently the rumor around the city was that he would be coming to Goldenrod City to promote the movie. Drew didn’t want to see him; he had cut off his contact with his family when he got married to Denny and he would love to keep it that way.

He stopped and shivered at the thought of his family. He was always ignored by them and just put aside because of his siblings great achievements. And then, he just became invisible. It was lonely, very lonely, and for a long time, Drew hated himself and to some extent he still did. Denny was a godsend and he appreciated that Denny would marry someone like him.

He began walking again, heading towards his destination, one of the tallest buildings in the city, the Goldenrod Department Store. It was an odd mixture of gold, orange, yellow, purple, and grey. In Drew’s opinion, the person who made the building was probably color blind. The colors just didn’t mesh together and they hurt his eyes.

He walked through the sliding glass stores and really bad pop music began to enter one ear and exit the other. Drew cringed at the utter horror of the music and the loudness. He walked to the elevator and clicked the up button. He walked inside and picked his floor and just waited as the contraption crawled up each floor. There was a ding and the doors slid open and he was met with the open air.

@ SooperTrooper - Can I ask that you expand a bit more on your Appearance? For example, you've only touched the surface briefly on your characters clothing. Can you provide more detail other than a coat and baggy pants?

@LazyJremy - A not-too-shabby start, just expand on your character's personality, as well as remembering that suggestion when your finishing your character's appearance.

@First Snow - Accepted! Well Done!

@Kiklion: Thanks for the interest! Glaceon has been already taken though; perhaps you'd want to choose another starter?

Name | Kimi Anegelo

Age | 17

Gender | Female

Starter |
Eevee
Level 25
- Tail Whip
- Helping Hand
- Tackle
- Sand Attack
- Shadow Ball

Appearance | Kimi has dark skin and long black hair. Her eyes are brown, and she is small and slender. She has good cardio, and doesn't tire easily due to extensive hunting with her father. She is slightly muscular, but she is very skinny. She wears a headress and a dress when in company, but when she is out alone she wears a warrior skirt and half shirt to move faster. She also wears decorative beads and jewelry, along with eagle feathers and tribal earrings and tattoos.
Spoiler:

The Dress

Personality | Kimi is the hunter of her family. She is the oldest of 3 children, all girls, and her father taught her to hunt with him when he didn't have any sons. She is very independant, and wants to get the six medallions to be able to protect herself from the Ranchers, and to prove that she is strong. She believes strongly that nature is something to live with and for, and adores pokemon very much. She is also very immature and falls in love easily, both with pokemon and other people. She doesn't like to keep her pokemon in apricorns, finding it cruel to restrain nature. She's not one to let peer pressure sway her thoughts, but she isn't arrogant either, thinking things through and not rushing into situation she doesn't yet fully understand. She often travels alone but feels lonely at times, and wouldn't turn down an offer for company on the road.

History | Kimi was born in Marjat, and moved away from her family to Kalay to gain the medallions a year ago. She was angry with her tribe for not allowing her to attempt the trials because she is a woman. She thinks that by obtaining the medalllions she can prove that she is stronger than the men who were allowed to try the trials. She goes way back with Eevee, she was very young when she befriended her. Over the years Eevee is less like a pokemon, and more like a friend. She's been trying to catch a ponyta for a long time (Her favorite pokemon besides Eevee) but could never sneak up on one or outpace it. She wants to catch it herself, to prove that she can. Since moving to Kalay, she has been gathering information on the medallions and where to start her journey.

RP Sample | This is my first RP. (Well, I'm in Sacred Fire/Divine Water but that hasn't started yet)

Other | Kimi hunts with a bow and tomohawk.

Name: Victen Lupesaro
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Starter: Flareon (Gender: Female, Extra Move: Sunny Day)

Appearance: Even among the Ranchers, Victen's family seems to carry foreign air to them, despite having lived in the area for several generations. All members of the family have a skin tone somewhat similar to the native Tobyanians typically darker. (Latino-esque in for a clearer idea.) Individually, Victen is of average height, if not slightly shorter. Black wavy hair tops his head, loose, short hairs litter chin and lip, despite his attempts at regular shaving. Constant work at home keeps the boy in shape, though Victen remains not very muscular. His eyes are dark brown.

Victen wears a white collared shirt with neat cuffs, somewhat atypical of a Rancher boy. A dark brown slouch hat almost always adorns the boy's head. Beige pants and a brown leather belt complete his attire.

Personality: In short, Victen does not enjoy his life with the Ranchers. He does the work he's asked to do, despite how he hates it, though he would never breathe a word of that to his family. He doesn't like the seemingly unending cycle of waking, working, and going back to sleep. He knows that the world has more to offer, and yearns to see it. Art, culture, the beauty of the world are what he is passionate about. Victen feels disconnected from the people around him, thinking that they don't understand him and that when he speaks, nobody truly listens. (Victen is prone to over exaggeration.) He isn't sure what he's looking for, he just wants to look at the world.

Victen can be quite talkative when confronted with another person, especially if they seem like there is something particularly interesting about them. Victen can also be somewhat nosy, imploring people about their lives or something they may have, which can make the boy seem annoying to some. Victen is also very quick to tell people about himself, what his likes are, and other details about him, causing people to think that he is full of himself, which he can be sometimes. The boy seems to take things too far at times, from pride to jealousy. Despite his less-than-favorable traits, Victen tries to be friendly to other people, even if he doesn't necessarily like the person, he'll at least try to be pleasant. Of course, that usually leads to making him seem very two-faced and not genuine.

History: Ever since Victen was old enough to comprehend the concept, he never thought he fit in. Other children were friendly to him, his brothers, sisters, and the rest of his large family all showed him the same affection they did anyone else. Still, Victen felt he was simply different. Perhaps it was him just being egotistical, perhaps he was simply imagining things. But no matter how much he motivated himself, Victen could never push himself to be like everybody else. He couldn't find himself tied to the land and not wish to leave, he couldn't feel any sort of tying bond between himself and his neighbors, he even felt somewhat removed from his family, as terrible as that sounded for Victen to hear himself think that. He always figured that the world had to have more in store, books he read gave him ideas of a fantastic and mythical world beyond the farms of the Ranchers in his younger days. He carried those dreams throughout his young life, knowing full well how silly they were. The only obstacle in his mind was how he could get out to the rest of the world. To Victen it seemed as if all he need do were leave the farm and the entire world would be his to see. But he couldn't simply pack up and leave, his family would never allow it, they needed every available person working to keep the family afloat financially.

Miraculously, one day, after years of trying, Victen found his ticket. He struck a deal with his parents, if he were allowed to leave the farm, he would devote his time to collecting the six medallions, sending the money back to his family. Victen didn't think that they would accept, and became disheartened. His parents could see this, and realized how much this journey meant to him. Despite their better judgement, they agreed to Victen's proposition. Maybe it was a dirty trick, using the medallion collection as an excuse to practically abandon his family, but Victen couldn't see the problem, despite the protests of his siblings upon his leavings. Perhaps that was Victen's problem, maybe he really didn't care about his family, maybe he was just a selfish, lazy person who couldn't be bothered to help his own blood. Victen pushed the thoughts out of his head, distracting himself with the road ahead.

RP Sample: (This was my first post in the revived Gijinka Academy. It's kinda a long one.)

Spoiler:
Another wave broke upon the tip of the brown rock jutting out of the sea. With that rock acting as a point of observation, the large-for-his-age Sten Debras estimated that the waves today had a frequency of one wave every three seconds.

"Actually, the correct frequency would be twenty-seven thousand three hundred and fifty one hundred thousandths of a wave per second." Cardinal's, Sten's Metang's, voice echoed in the boy's mind as if it were a cave.

"I see. My assumption was a fair one, though. Quite accurate." Sten thought, the telepathic connection between he and his Pokémon carried the message to Cardinal's mind.

"Though not correct." Cardinal quickly responded. The two have had this exchange several times throughout the years they've been together, the responses were programmed into each other's mind, and each knew what the other would say before they had said it.

"Hmph." Sten sounded aloud, shaking his head. He hoped that one day he could get Cardinal to change him mind, to respond differently to him. It was an odd thing to want, a nearly impossible thing to achieve. Cardinal's mind is akin to a computer, the same input will warrant the same output so long as the conditions remain the same. Unless if the situation were to change drastically, Cardinal would always respond to Sten in exactly the same way. Yet, that impossible goal, for whatever reason, had some sense of appeal to Sten. He wasn't sure why he desired this, as he was not one to ever want something, with any amount of intensity.

Sten's eyes flicked around, even a second's glance giving allowing him to know his environment with more precision than most normal people would have if they had stared upon the same scene intensely. There was a slight breeze, which Sten could feel on his skin, and his hair was rustling around slightly, as well as the grass underfoot moving with the wind. Other than that, there wasn't anything incredibly impressive about what was going on at the time, save what was at the dock nearby and to Sten's right.

There was a congregation of people at this dock, all students of the same academy Sten attended. They were, as Sten was, awaiting the arrival of new students. They were all talking among themselves, periodically looking out to the water, hoping to see even the slightest glimpse of the ship that would bring the new students. Sten was unsure why these people wanted to see the new students' arrival so badly. Perhaps they were expecting someone in particular to be aboard the ship, or they may just be that intent on meeting these new people. The latter confused Sten, as they would have plenty of other opportunities to meet these people's acquaintances. Why meeting these people first was of its apparent importance, Sten didn't know. He had watched the arrival of new students several times over his years at the academy and never, aside from his first time attending, found it of any interest.

Perhaps that was the reason of the people to see the arrivals, the excitement of the first time seeing it. That hypothesis would make sense, considering how Sten could easily recognize many who were, before the holiday, freshmen. While Sten didn't personally know them, he wasn't one to forget an appearance nor the grade level associated with it. The boy began to reflect on his first time seeing new people arriving at the academy. It was many years ago, and Sten couldn't have been older than four at the time, yet the memory was perfectly clear regardless. Unlike many of the freshman staring out at the water now, Sten first enrolled at the Academy at a very young age, before he was considered old enough to be in a kindergarten class (which even those classes were very small), so he had to be watched by a child services worker who was associated with the school, it was quite an awkward, though not unheard of, situation. Sten was only at the Academy in the first place because, again unlike a greater deal of people, his Gijinka appearance and powers developed at birth or shortly thereafter. Even the Gijinka that do have their powers and appearance from birth aren't normally sent to the academy until school age, not when they weren't even a year old as was Sten's case.

Sten considered the nature of Gijinka. They truly were an odd sort. There seemed to be no guidelines as to when and how they would appear, no pattern to be observed. Some have their abilities from birth, others don't develop them until they are in middle or high school. Would it be possible for a Gikinka to not develop until he or she was a full adult and already had an established life? What would become of them? Could a Gijinka's powers never develop? Would they even be a Gijinka if that happened? What is being a Gijinka? Is it some sort of genetic mutation or disease that people are born with but it only has a possibility of becoming active at a random time? Was it just something that anyone could get at any time? These questions flooded Sten's mind, which considering his heightened brain activity, probably was the speed of rushing water, the thought rang out progressively louder. (It is hard to explain, but to a telepathic person like Sten, thought has a volume to it, almost like normal speech.)

"I was under the assumption that you were pondering a memory, not questioning the nature of your existence." Cardinal's voice broke apart Sten's immediate train of thought. The Metang couldn't read every thought Sten had, but if a thought of his got to loud, Cardinal could "hear" it.

"What? Oh, yes, I was. I should return to that.... Hm, it seems to have lost the relevance it had moments ago." Sten responded.

Just as the response was made, some of the watchers at the dock cried out, and they all turned to face the sea. Sten turned his gaze to see what they were all excited about, though he had a pretty good guess. Sure enough, just over the horizon, the ship was approaching the island.

"Why do you come to watch the arrival every year if you find it so dull?" Cardinal suddenly asked.

"What else is there to do over the vacation?" Sten returned. This years vacation, like all others, had been a been one of disappointment. Sten didn't have any real friends on the island, and most pastimes, such as reading or movie-watching, he considering boring. The only thing that sounded appealing was to do field research on the several local Pokémon species. Yet every time he attempted, he was turned away by one scientist or another, to the point where they had put a sign out of their research building explicitly stating that only scientists appointed to study the local Pokémon may do so.

Sten turned his attention back to the fast approaching ship, sighing and hoping that the rest of the days until school started again would be fast.

Jolteon (M)
Level 25
- Thundershock
- Helping Hand
- Sand-Attack
+ Wild Charge

Appearance | Evie’s a cowgirl in heart and in job, so needless to say she looks the part. She wears a thick brown skirt that’s buttoned high on the waist and comes down to about 20 cm below her knees. Beneath the skirt is another layer of white underskirt to prevent it from showing too much of her figure. Can’t be immodest even on the road right? The top skirt has buttons on the front that can be loosened to accommodate for riding, while the bottom skirt is pliant enough not to be in the way. Evie hates that she has to wear it, she would much rather wear something simple and easy for horse-back riding but these were the social conventions. Wouldn’t want a poor girl to embarrass herself by wearing pants. Tucked into the skirt she wears a white blouse, high-buttoned and with the sleeves pushed up to her elbow. She also has a pair of brown leather gloves for riding and has a lilac scarf tied around her throat. On her feet she wears a pair of comfy cowboy boots and around her waist she wears a sturdy belt with two pouches hanging on either side of it as well as a lasso rope on one side and a hunting knife on the other.

Physically Evie is quite a small girl, which does come in handy quite some times. She’s 1.63m tall or about 5’4” and quite light too. Her size means she can ride both Ponyta and Rapidash quite easily, though she has a preference for the speed of the latter. She’s very thin, a combination of genes and quite a bit of exercise, and hardly has a chest to speak of. She might look quite weak but don’t get fooled, under her skirt she has powerful thighs from a life-time of riding and her arms are strong for that same lifetime of handling livestock. Her hair is a strawwy blonde that’s very curly from nature, but spends most of its time in a French braid reaching to about 10 cm past her shoulders. There’s always bits of curly hair peaking out around her face though, it’s framed by different lengths of stubborn hairs. Her skin is on the tanned side, with freckles all over her face and shoulders and even some on her arms as well. Her eyes are a deep brown with blonde, so near invisible, lashes. And, of course, the cowboy hat can’t be excluded.

Personality | Evie’s used to hard work and entirely not used to quitting. If she starts something she finishes it, quite stubbornly so. Evie’s not someone who’s afraid of confrontation or lets people walk all over them. She’s tough as nails and won’t take crap from anywhere. Evie could care less about lady-like behavior. She wears a skirt because she has to, but that doesn’t prevent her from hiking it up past (gasp!) her knees when she needs to run. She also always rides astride, no silly side-saddles for her. She also seems to have no fear or self-preservation instinct, she tends to be impulsive and go for something not considering any consequences.

As a cowgirl Evie’s riding skills are considerable. She doesn’t really feel at home unless she’s on a horse-type Pokémon. She can ride for days on end and knows how to survive on the road for long periods of time. She’s also the best lasso-er from her ranch and due to her weight also often the quickest. And she loves it with every fiber of her body.

Evie is definitely quite boyish, which is mostly because of the environment she grew up in. She swears like a sailor, can devour food like the best of them and is not afraid to present a large burp after. She’s always been one of the guys to the point that the other cowboys sometimes forgot she was a girl at all. She’d like to think there was at least one drop of feminine in her, but really, there wasn’t. She didn’t like dresses, she couldn’t stay modest and quiet to save her life and she had trouble seeing boys as anything else than either friends to joke around with or people to be wary of.

Another think Evie is, is racist. Though not entirely intentional, it is there. Evie’d always been taught that Indians were savages and cattle-raiders and all-in-all no good to have around and after her father’s death there was nothing that could make Indians right in her eyes anymore. She’d only ever seen one or two from afar when they’d been on a long ride escorting the cattle and got too close to the forests. So Evie’s very wary of these Indians, ever nervous to be around them. She doesn’t trust them, and although she wouldn’t be rude to them unprovoked she’d never be comfortable around them.

History | Evie never knew her real parents. She was told that her mother was an “immodest” woman who’d gotten pregnant from her shady practices and had died during the delivery. She was then adopted by a Cowboy and his wife who had unsuccessfully tried to make a family themselves and who didn’t mind adopting a *****’s daughter. Evie’s adoptive mother, Annie, had unsuccessfully tried to get Evie to become a girly girl. When she was little Annie always dressed her in lacy dresses and did her hair up all nice and tried to teach her the ways of women. It didn’t take long to become apparent that that wasn’t who Evie was going to become. Evie’s biggest hero was her father, after a week’s (or sometimes multiple) ranching he’d always come home with the money he’d earned in full cowboy gear, a huge smile on his face and full of glorious stories of his work, of rampaging Tauros he’d caught with his lasso or of Indians trying to steal a Miltank they’d chased away. Evie ate these up like cake and she knew, when she’d grew up she’d want to be like her daddy.

The next step was Bill teaching Evie how to ride a horse. She made him promise to let her ride one for her 6th birthday, and so she did. Whenever Bill got home he’d spend an hour or two teaching Evie on a Ponyta he’d persuaded the Ranch owner to lend him. It was a tiny thing, very young but with a sweet personality. Evie turned out to be a natural, which was mostly due to the fact that she tried really, really hard not to disappoint Bill. The riding lessons continued and a year later, on Evie’s next birthday, Bill revealed that he’d bought the Ponyta with their savings. Needless to say Evie was ecstatic, her and the Ponyta were inseparable. From that moment Evie spent about as much time on horse-back as on her own feet.

When Evie was 10 she asked the Ranch owner, Mr. Abernathy, if she could help in the stables for a few cents per hour. He agreed, though only really because she was Bill’s daughter and Bill was a highly respected cowboy. From that moment she spent most of her time riding her Ponyta to the ranch, which was about a two hour ride away, mucking out stables, doing odd jobs around the ranch and feeding the Pokémon when the cowboy’s had come back. She would have stayed on the ranch like the cowboys if she weren’t a girl. At the end of each day she was allowed to ride an old Rapidash that was unfit for ranching work. She also loved that she got to see Bill more often and he started teaching her how to throw a lasso, though she was really quite bad at it.

One day when she was 13 Bill simply didn’t get back. It had been his own fault, really. One of the Tauros had gone missing near the woods and at the same time an Indian was spotted. Bill had immediately assumed the Indian had stolen the Tauros and chased him. They’d not seen since. This very near broke both Evie and Annie. Evie suddenly became the main provider of the family and the few cents she made really weren’t enough. She’d had to sell her small Ponyta and Annie had sold most of their belongings. Evie had asked Mr. Abernathy multiple times to hire her as a cowboy, boys her age often found themselves in training, but it was her gender that made him doubt. Evie was able to convince him in due time though, arguing that she could ride a Rapidash better than the youngest cowboy he had hired, and she already knew her way around the ranch and saying that she didn’t mind sleeping in the cowboy’s quarters. Abernathy finally agreed and Evie started to work as a cowgirl.

Over the years she’d worked hard to become a decent, and then a good cowgirl. She always tried to work twice as hard as anyone else to make up for the doubts about her gender. She joked with the cowboys and became one of them, also creating a strong bond with her designated Rapidash. Life was good, even if she missed Bill every day. Death wasn’t uncommon for a cowboy though, the dangers were many and in the years Evie had seen more than one of her colleagues find his end trampled beneath the Tauros or lost on the plains. Her happiness ended a few months before the present. Mr. Abernathy was a gambler that liked his vices and one day his vices caught up to him. He’d had to sell the ranch and the new owner wasn’t that keen on “womenfolk” doing the men’s work. And so she was fired. Just like that. Her entire world gone, again.

Losing their steady income another time Annie decided they’d move to her sister’s who owned a cottage just outside of Kalay. And Evie, after hearing about the medallion challenge and the money you could win decided to go for it. With the money she’d earn if she was successful she could buy herself a small ranch of her own and get back to the life she should be leading.

After dinner, content as they all were, there was the next major problem to attend to. It was almost entirely dark now and Lanhua knew she had quite a long walk left towards the next town.Lanhua would never admit it to anyone, but she was quite scared of the dark. As previously discussed going back was out of the question. Lanhua was simply too stubborn for that. So she was just going to have to find shelter somewhere. The trick was just to NOT find that angry farmer again.

She decided to call back all of her Pokémon but Xinju. Hongze because people didn’t seem to take too kindly to Mothim here and Fei because he always looked so arrogant 24/7. Xinju, however, had the habit of looking absolutely adorable, which was definitely a feature to be used.

After about an hour of walking Lanhua was growing restless. It was almost completely dark now, and as previously mentioned, dark things were not Lanhua’s forté. They’d only passed two farmhouses so far, and one of which had their lights off and in the other Lanhua had sworn she saw a cranky man in the window. Most likely she was just paranoid, but you couldn’t be careful enough with these things.

Finally, after only ten more minutes of walking, they came across a very pretty house set in the middle of a wonderful flower garden. The house looked like it belonged to a very wealthy person. It was made of dark wood with red-painted accents and there were wonderful smells coming from the garden. As if that was not enough there was also a very small greenhouse, really only about 2 square meters and quite low, attached to the side of the house. Lanhua had never seen a real green house before, but knew about it. It was meant to keep plants warm even in the winter. The best thing about the place, however, was not its richness, or its beauty. It was the head of grey hair to be seen from the window.

You see, that meant that the house belonged to an old lady, or even an old couple, but not just an old man. This was very important. Old men alone tended to be cranky, however old ladies alone tended to be nice and easily won over. Old couples were a bit of a gamble, but the odds were good. And so Lanhua decided this was going to be her first try, and she would put all her charms on the line. And definitely Xinju’s cuteness.

Lanhua took a deep breath and knocked on the door. She quickly picked Xinju up in her arms, briefly telling him to look as cute and needy as possible, and prepared herself. It took a little while for the woman to open the door, but finally she did. “Yes? And you are?” Lanhua was a little taken aback, she’d thought the lady was much older from afar. But where her hair was entirely grey, her face had only a few age-lines. Old age had been nice to this lady. ( Lanhua silently prayed to the Gods of aging to go the same way.)

Lanhua bowed deeply. “Good evening madam. I am a Pokémon trainer, a beginner really, and I have no place to stay the night and a long way to Feborough Town. I feel ashamed to ask, but would you in any way have a place to rest for me and my Pokémon?” Cue Xinju to look his absolute cutest.

The lady looked them up and down a moment. “That depends,” she said slowly. “What could you do for me in return?” she seemed to be thinking, or scheming rather. Yes the lady had a fairly scheming look about her at the moment. “I’ve never thought of using a trainer,” she muttered to herself. “Hm, yes, it could work. At least, if she’s any good.”

“I’m plenty good, thank you very much,” Lanhua interrupted, before realizing she’d been incredibly rude and bowing again. “I apologize madam, I did not intend to speak out of turn.”

The woman stared at her for a moment more, before opening the door wide. “You may stay in the spare bedroom only- and really only- if you managed to complete a task for me. Come in and we shall discuss this over tea.”

Lanhua did as the woman told and followed her into the house. It was all very traditional, dark colours, some landscapes and calligraphy scrolls on the walls. The living room was much the same as the entrance hall, although the colours here were a bit lighter thanks to a large window overlooking the back garden. This one was even more beautiful than the front that Lanhua had already seen. There were hydrangeas, rhododendrons, lilies, even a pond with beautiful water lilies in them. There was another small and separate greenhouse in the very back. Lanhua knelt in front of the table before the window while the woman fetched her a glass and poured her tea. “You might not know who I am, but in certain economies,” meaning, as Lanhua knew, people of higher status than the lady thought her to be. “I am quite well-known. You may call be Madame Shen, I am a flower breeder. I raise the most beautiful and high-quality flowers of Arcanum, as well as create my own species by combining flowers. As you can see, most of the flowers outside are of my own creation.”

Lanhua looked again and noticed that, indeed, most flowers seemed to be a little different than they were supposed to be. The hydrangeas had a beautiful colour gradient, going darker on the outsides, that was made of how many spots there were on each leaf. The lilies seemed to have almost striped patterns she’d never seen before and the rhododendrons were bigger than she’d even seen them before. Even the water lilies had beautiful colours and patterns that Lanhua had never seen before in the wild. “They’re beautiful,” she whispered.

“Yes, they are, but that’s not the point. There is a very rare sort of plant from oversees that one of the farmers lucked upon when the imported a Combee and the seed was stuck to it.” The woman pulled a face that obviously showed her disdain for this person. “Since then he’s planted it –after I showed interest in it of course, the buffoon would never have known its value otherwise– and no matter how much I offer he won’t give me a sample.” She all but stomped her feet at this point. “Now I’ve tried nearly everything I could to get my hands on that flower. The magic word being nearly. I’ve never tried using a trainer. And this is how you will earn your stay.”

“So I go out and get you this flower, right?” Lanhua repeated and Lady Shen nodded. “Alright, so I’ll get you your flower in the morning.”

“No, you shall get me my flower tonight. Obviously Mohito, that’s that blasted farmer’s name, would be out at day and would see you. It will have to be done in absolutely darkness, and you shall have to be careful not to be seen, he keeps his flowers close to the open window.”

Lanhua listened patiently, although in her mind there were alarm bells ringing. She had to go out at night? In the dark? To some unknown farmer’s house? That was like a horror movie waiting to happen! But she doubted she’d find another place to sleep, and she didn’t really want to stay outside. What was worse, being outside in the dark for a few minutes or so, grabbing the flower and book it back, or spending an entire night in the dark? “Alright, I’ll do it,” Lanhua said begrudgingly. “Just show me where he lives.”

And this was how Lanhua found herself creeping in the dark towards the small and low house that belonged to this farmer, Mohito. The flowers, as Madame Shen had said, were right in front of two rather large windows. The lights were lit up inside and Lanhua could see a woman through it busy in a kitchen, as well as a man through the other window, sipping tea and looking outside. He was obviously studying the beautiful flowers outside. She could also, much to her chagrin, see that this farmer was the same man that had chased Hongze before. She groaned, that was really something she could use right now.

She, for the umpteenth time, looked over her shoulder to scan the environment nervously. And, for the umpteenth time, she saw no creepy figures. Yet. She shuddered and creeped a little closer to the window and the flower bed. The problem was that the flowerbed was positioned in a way that it would be impossible to sneak up and take one without being in full view of the windows.

She had to admit, the farmer’s garden looked quite pretty. It wasn’t as much of a garden as a giant beehive. There were Combee everywhere, buzzing to and fro even at nighttime. The sweet smell of honey was everywhere too, Lanhua didn’t blame Hongze for being tempted to steal at all.

Lanhua took a deep breath and made a dive for the house. She avoided being in the window’s line of sight and flattened herself against the wall of the house. Another look to confirm nothing dubious was trying to sneak up on her and kill her. This seemed to be a negative, but it didn’t stop her heart from trying to beat out of her chest. She took a quick look at the flowers. They were pretty alright. They had one long stem each with a spike of smaller flowers along it. The flower’s scent was very strong and smelled even sweeter than the honey in the air. Madame Shen had called it a Hyacinth, which was an odd name that befitted the odd flower.

She tried reaching out for the one on the farthest corner, but then she heard a shuffle from the house and immediately retreated back against the wall. She tried shuffling along the ground to stay out of sight, but the light from the window reached the ground far before the first flower grew, and she again had to retreat. She heard more shuffling from inside, a female voice talked to a male one, she assumed Mohito’s wife had joined her husband in the living room.

And then she had an idea.

It was quite an obvious idea, really, why hadn’t she thought of it before? She released Hongze into the air. “Hongze,” she whispered. “I want you to steal some honey, and do it obviously, and then run like you’ve never ran before. Meet me back at the lady’s house.” The Mothim nodded once before speeding off towards the Combee hives. He very obviously flew straight by the window, and almost immediately as he did so a very angry cry could be heard from inside. Lanhua flattened herself even more against the wall, retreating to the darkest corner she could find.

An angry Mohito ran straight past her, following Honze, who was retreating back into the forest. Behind her, most probably from the door, Lanhua could hear a woman’s voice calling after him. “Just let it go Taku! Come back!”

Lanhua took the opportunity of both inhabitants of the house being occupied to dive for the flowers and digging up one full Hyacinth flower. She waited then until she heard the door close and ran full speed back to Madame Shen’s house. When she’s reached it she checked her surroundings for ominous shadows. She nearly had a heart attack when she saw one advance on her, only to found out it was just Hongze returning.

“So, you succeeded,” Madame Shen said from the door opening, eyeing Lanhua curiously. “I have to admit, I didn’t think you would.”

Lanhua huffed and stepped inside, handing the lady her so desired flower. “Have I earned my stay then?”

“Oh more then, would you like some tea first?”

“Just show me the bedroom,” Lanhua sighed, feeling dog tired after her adventure in the dark. She hoped she’d never have to go out at night again, though that was probably too much to ask for. For now all she wanted was for this lady to keep a night light in her spare bedroom.

Turned out she didn’t even get that. It would turn out to be a very long night for Lanhua.

She is very independant, and wants to get the six medallions to be able to protect herself from the Ranchers, and to prove that she is strong. She believes strongly that nature is something to live with and for, and adores pokemon very much. She is also very immature and falls in love easily, both with pokemon and other people. She's been trying to catch a ponyta for a long time (Her favorite pokemon besides Jolteon) but could never sneak up on one or outpace it. She wants to catch it herself, to prove that she can. Since moving to Kalay, she has been gathering information on the medallions and where to start her journey.

Well, I said I wasn't taking in reservations.

Well, unless one of the two of you wants to have another starter, I'm going to have to pick one of you for Jolteon.
