Pokemon Clubs Reviews Challenge

Welcome the the Pokemon Clubs Reviews Challenge! You may remember the old Reviews Thread, but that didn't work out the way we'd hoped so instead here's a challenge for you! If there's a club you visit and have a particularly good time there, write a review! If there's a club that you think could do with some pointers, write a constructive review! The idea of writing these reviews is so that new and old members alike can read through and find out exactly what clubs are best for them to join. The challenge ends July 31st so take your time and write a good'n. :)

The best reviews at the end of the challenge will be awarded an emblem, as well as the first place review getting something extra special and a secret award for certain unique reviews, so make sure your writing is good! c:

Rules

  • Follow all of the community's rules and the Pokemon Club's rules whilst posting.
  • Please keep all reviews constructive.
  • Don't just post generic reviews which could apply to any club.
  • Please don't review a club that you own.
  • You can review any club you'd like, but it helps if you join first.
  • Each member can send in more than one review in the time but only the one that we see as best will be counted for prizes.
  • Make sure you send in your reviews (by posting in this thread) by July 31st or they will not count!

Tips

  • It doesn't matter how long you've been in a club before you can review it; a view of how you feel immediately after joining is just as valid as a review from a life-time member.
  • Reviews do not have to be 5 pages long! A well-written paragraph or two can be much more powerful than a long spiel of babbling text. (See the review on RNG Club.)
  • Try and use good English; it makes things much more presentable.
  • Supplying a numerical rating alongside your review (eg 7/10 or 4 stars) is encouraged; it gives a quick summary of how good the club is at a glance.
  • Be detailed but also be concise; no one wants to read a whole block of text but the text that is there needs to be worth-while.
  • In order to qualify, your review must be constructive (or just positive if you see the club at a state that cannot be improved); reviews that are negative just for the sake of being negative will not be considered.
  • If you're stuck on what to write, make sure to read the example reviews below for ideas!

miltankRancher - Just the Classics Club
Spoiler:
Featured Club: ~Just the Classics~ Original 151 Fan Club

This club had been founded by deoxys121, a PC supporter and a common face around PG. The club has been founded on December 17, 2011. The first member, ShadowTheDarkrai, though inactive, joined on the same date. By the time of this review, the clubs statistics are: 31 members, and 5,001 page views, and 584 replies.

This club is pretty active for a new club. I mean, very much active. deoxys121 is a genius at designing and organizing different kinds of events (two had been concluded) These events are rather much awaited by all the members, since it does not require much. Yet. As of now, deoxys121 is designing yet another event which would be much bigger now, seeing as it requires Wi-fi connection. Quoting the founder...

As far as the next event, I think I'm gonna drop a little hint here. The next event, our first WiFi event, will be rather eggciting! That's your hint. :P

Topic-wise, since the club involves a rather large plethora of things (First generation/ Kanto generation or whatever you call it), topics never runs out. On average, a new topic is being made at least once a day, seeing as most members are active. Also, the topics requires much discussion (famous example would be the Gengar/Clefable line relationship, and the Baby Kanghaskan theory). If one likes a good debate, this club is certainly a place to go. Topics are not easily answerable by a yes/no. You must state an opinion on a matter, and defend it. Questions may arise, but hey. We keep it civil. Discussion is flowing, and it still has not reached a stagnant zone.

The points system is also a good system. It is updated at least once every two days because of the activity. There are many ways to amass points and, seeing the events happen at least once a month, it is easy to gather enough points for the item shop.

There is a unique system in this club that deoxys formulated: an inactivity system. Quoting once again...

When I update member points tomorrow, I will start a new policy. Every member whose last post in this thread was 2 weeks ago or more will be declared an inactive member. There will then be strikethrough put through their username in the member list. When the member posts next, the strikethrough is removed. While that strikethrough is present, the member will not receive recurring member points. If the strikethrough remains for 30 days, the member will then be removed from this club, and will have to re-sign up if they want to join again.
All in all, this club is one of the best clubs around. Even if you are not a fan of the original 151, this club is certainly a must-see.

Curious. - Johto Legends Club
Spoiler:

Johto Legends – The Second Generation Fan club!

For quite awhile Pokémon Groups has been thriving with activity, clubs are spewing with discussions, members upon members are joining the wide variety of clubs this board has to offer; so I thought I’d review one of the more recent, yet quickly growing clubs and it also happens to be based around one of my favourite generations, Johto; Gen II. The second generation of Pokémon Gaming, often referred to as the Metal Generation, following the ‘trend’ of coloured games, is the sequel to the well-loved and extremely well-known first Generation situated in Kanto; the games of the original generation; Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow. Beginning with Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver soon accompanied by Pokémon Crystal began the first expansion on the world of Pokémon introducing 100 brand new Pokémon, which did not exist prior to the release of the new generation. Many of these new species expanded the evolutions of both sides of previously produced Pokémon (Baby and New Evolutions), while most were brand spankin’ new evolutionary lines. The very first hint of the production of Generation 2 arrived in 1977 in the first released episode of the Pokémon Anime. Ash Ketchum an aspiring young trainer and his Pikachu encounter a shining, colourful bird Pokémon, flying gracefully in the sky which was unidentifiable by the Pokedex. We, now know this Pokémon has Ho-oh, the legendary bird Pokémon mascot of Pokémon Gold.

Appearance and Design:

This club provides interest right from the get-go, when you first click the link and enter the depths of the club you can’t help but be drawn in by the fascinating CSS. The aesthetic appeal of the opening post is smooth and doesn’t conflict with the text, images or your vision. Clubs in the past, have produced CSS or have coloured text which isn’t readable or makes your eyes bulge from their sockets due to the fluro greens, pulsing red or aqua blues; this club seems to use these colours in a scarce but effective manner. The attention to detail is also impeccable, the little moving over world sprites of Scizor, Ho-oh, Lugia and more, really add a little ‘life’ to the post, especially accompanied by their shiny alternations!

It's really good.

Activities and Rewards:

Probably the most interesting aspect of Johto Legends is the fact that it has quite a few activities and systems that really encourage activity and really enables members to involve themselves further in the topic in a variety of different ways. One of the more common ways clubs involve members is giving members the ability to adopt a partner Pokémon; name it, in some cases give it moves, evolve etc. The issues sometimes however, is that clubs can go overboard to Partner Adopting, and it makes things messy, confusing and in the end a little boring. Sometimes simplicity is better. Less is more. Unfortunately here, The Johto Legend’s adopting process is easy yes, but the capabilities to upgrade into shinnies, evolve your Pokémon etc make posting much more of a chore and it seems can have a negative effect on the quality posts, though positively affecting the quantity of them. In the end it’s up to the individual if they like this variety of selections in which to improve your Pokémon, but for me, the abundance of options isn’t for me.

Another feature to the group is the addition of a Point System. I quite like this system and though it doesn’t set the club apart from others completely it serves us with a little encouragement and incentive to post and discuss. In a brief description, the Point System is a system in which members can acquire points by performing/completing certain tasks, such as replying to a topic, answering trivia, welcoming a new member to the group etc and then have the ability to spend these points as if they were money to purchase little perks such as having the ability to choose another partner Pokémon, change your partner to a shiny form, change its sprite from a still sprite to a moving/travelling sprite and much more. While this is great and somewhat satisfying, I find that the quality of posts suffers along with the overall discussion. Gaining points is too easy, replying to a topic should merit points yes, but should I response of 1 line, or an off-topic comment earns a member points? I think with a little tweaking this feature would be perfect, but it is extremely easy to rack up the points for simply posting 1 liners, that don’t contribute enough or generate enough discussion.

Finally, we as members have the ability to participate in a little Pokemon Trivia, not only do I find this creative but it’s a fantastic way to ensure members have fun, and things don’t get stale. The trivia also a deeper insight into the topic and enables us to discuss a number of things and perhaps learn things we didn’t know. A great bonus is that we earn points in the process!

Topics, Activity & Member Base:

Over the duration of the clubs existence there has been a wide range of topics to talk about ranging, from what is your favourite legendary, best shiny. Though simple, these topics are quite good, they do require one to explain and support their opinion, but the issue is that there is too many of the same type of topics: “What is your favourite legendary?” “Which baby Pokémon do you like the most?” “Which Pokémon do you dislike the most?” It’s not a matter of there being a scarcity of topics but rather an issue with the diversity of the topics. If there to be a little more variety, I think the club would benefit as this enable members to criticise and talk about all certain aspects and angles of the Pokémon in the games, not just ‘which Pokémon is better than the other?’ There is hardly anything to fault about the Member base and the development of the club; the members are friendly and welcoming, always enjoying a new member to discuss with. However, I found and a few others have noticed, that the activity group and the progression of the group is mainly due to a few people, and its disappointing to see that slowly the discussion is turning into more chit-chat that that, discussion.

And sometimes it turns into more chit-chat about the topic rather than actual discussion.

I just think that it has gained too much activity from the same people.

I think the club would benefit if more members were constantly posting, this would hopefully not only encourage discussion but perhaps spark a few debates.

Closing Statements:

Though this club has its faults, some more impactful that others, don’t let this deter your decisions on joining. Though relatively new, this club is making a lot of progress, and spending your time posting and re-living those Gen II memories is all the worthwhile, especially when you can rack up those points, gain some luxuries, test your Gen II knowledge and have fun with the your PC peers. This club has a lot of potential and I can’t wait to see it grow and prosper in the future.

But apart from that it has a lot of potential...

The bottom line to any club is to have fun, and this club sure nails it. So go on, what are you waiting for? Join, you’ll regret it if you don’t!

Overall Experience:
+ Beautiful presentation.
+ Easy to read, non-conflicting colours.
+ A good bunch of activities that spur ongoing interest.
+ Great activity and growth.
+ Friendly, jubilant members!

-Some aspects are too complicated.
-Post quality is affected through such systems.
- Not enough diversity among the topics.

AlexOzzyCake - RNG Abuse Club
Spoiler:
Club: ♠ RNG Abuse Club ♠
Owner: Mac of York
Co-Owner: Miakalina
Founded: March 4th, 2012

This is a simple activity-based club focused around the act of RNGing Pokemon; for those that haven't heard of this, it's simply a way of catching/breeding the perfect Pokemon without hacking the game. As a relatively new thread, having only just been around for a week, I find this to be a truly outstanding club; having generated over 4 pages of replies in just 7 days this club is expanding at a surprising pace! The owner, Mac of York, is constantly updating and willing to extend a warm welcome to his members and help them with anything they need, be it help RNGing or even just ideas on what to catch next. The club has a constant friendly atmosphere where the members seem completely at ease and are happy to post regularly and share their newly captured Pokemon. There are regular challenges to take part in which, in turn, can lead to gaining status as a "notable member" within the club therefore inspiring members to RNG even more and be as active as they can. The club also offers help for those that are stuck with the process and gives veterans a place to discuss all their tips and tricks; a perfect club for members of any skill level! The only fault I can find in this club is that it's sometimes difficult to tell who's actually around due to a lack of a members list, but this just goes to prove that the club is open to literally anyone that's interested in taking part.

In summary, if you want a welcoming club to meet new friends and try out a whole new way of catching the perfect Pokemon whilst competing in challenges and rising through the ranks, this is the club for you.

Sector Revenge (1) - Cute Pokemon Club Redux
Spoiler:

♥The Cute Pokémon Club!♥ Redux!

^Title is also the link to direct^

After the conclusion of the very popular and successful Cute Pokemon Club owned by none other than AlexOzzyCake himself, a brand new Cute Pokemon Club as emerged. It isn't quite common to see one club shut down and see another rebirth with such great creation not long after. All thanks to the founder of our newest club, respectively in good hands, ♪Twiggy♪.

By the time of this review, the club is only 3 weeks old (couldn't verify the exact official date) at 7:57AM Eastern Central. Upon approval by the moderators, it took no longer than 3 minutes for the club's first member to sign-up. As well as many others followed in such short time periods, within the first 40 minutes, the club has already landed 6 members, excluding the founder himself. Still, with only 65 posts and over 1,600 views, that's more than what most clubs were able to achieve. There are a total of 23 members. It may still be very early among its time, but nearly 50% of the members only posted once, during their sign-ups, leaving only 4 members to actually post more than 3 times by the likes of: Avishka, Meganium90, Cosmotone8 & ♪Twiggy♪. Very few active members, yet too many inactive members. So the activeness for this club may not be on its hottest tide and ready to be set on fire in motion, yet!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD!

It seems that Twiggy has put a lot of work and effort into creating this club. For starters, he has made it very simple for those to not make any complications whatsoever. It is very thorough and well-done. Especially with the background theme, in organizing it to be set perfectly. Unfortunately, for those who cannot afford the lately version and keep up with the technology, those who does not own Windows 7, will have difficulties (Although I never experienced it myself). Quoted from the very bottom of the main post:

Yet again, the style should work well in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Just don't be on Windows XP!
As for choosing cute Pokemon, it is pretty much a democracy within the club to allow members to decide for themselves which Pokemon are cute in their own eyes. There will be some that others will disagree, and others that will disagree to be actually cute rather than not. So for the fun topic/event that occurs each week appears to be decisions for Pokemon of the Week by the members. Remember when I mentioned democracy? It stands for the people to vote. That's what they do. They vote in and the winner will hold the most votes to be Pokemon of the Week!

Those who take interest in doing so, even not for just Pokemon of the Week, this club is nearly the best for are pictures! Pictures are expressed for how cute Pokemon are and can be and is the major part of this club. Discussions, as for creating newer topics, are at a below average pace.
I want to go ahead and maybe start a topic here, if that's alright? It kinda irks me to not see activity in this awesome club
Even one of our most respectful moderators seem to agree on this subject. There has not been nearly enough, or any for that matter, topics to keep interests for the members and in order to keep them entertained. The owner must have topics change on a certain daily basis, every so often, every 2-3 days or so forth. That seems to be the problem lacking this club, and the reason for such very few members posting multiple times. As well as a few chit chat here and there, there hasn't fully been a conversation on which Pokemon is actually cute and which isn't, and explanations aren't provided. Which is much needed along with showing photos. This is something necessary for a successful club.

Unlike the previous Pokemon Cute Club, some success came with trivia/quizzes/questionnaires and perhaps a points system. Challenging those who try to answer, think or guess and update their Partner Pokemon was a fun thing perhaps. Maybe this could be the reason for the lack of members or taking interest in posting. Future events may help this club rise to the top. Wither if it's a cute contest or a Pokemon Online tournament for using only the Cute Pokemon provided, this club needs some excitement to support it and start taking interests from other members. Again, it is very well organized and orientated. It just lacks thorough conversation and topic discussions.

Sector Revenge (2) - Eevee Family Club
Spoiler:

~>The Eevee and Eeveelutions Club<~

^Title is also the link to direct^

Four weeks ago, a new Eeveelution Club has been created at approximately 10:49AM. With 149 posts and 2,752 views, the club has received a nice attention from the audience at Pokemon Clubs. ShinySearcher01 is the owner of the club and is very successful at keeping his club active. Props to the owner.

There are currently 25 members within the club, and the club holds dedicated and truthful members within it. Once a topic is created, there are quite a few members participating and answering the topic. They all enjoy discussion topics, bringing an interesting idea and creating the banners for this club. As active as the owner is at 27 posts by the time of this review, there are a quite of few others with at least 7 posts. In such a very short time span of 4 weeks, we can say this club's success is in the hands of its members and should be thankful for their dedication. Yes, it would be much more enjoyable to have more members involved in discussion and being highly active. If things keep going as is, the club will continue to have more members and have no problem with the absence of its members.

Next up, is the discussion conversation within the club. How are they handling it? Are they thorough with their answers? I will include a valid and good, promising answer to their most recent topic:
Do you think Eevee should be used more in the anime or given as a starter in future games?
Yep - totally! Though for main-stream games that hit a wider audience than those who know what they're doing, side-games especially benefit, I think, from Eevee as a starter. I'm please at the genius/madman behind all the recent changes to Pokémon hasn't abondoned Pikachu or Eevee as staples in the series. (I mean, think about it, Eevee's has a lot of coverage!) Nobunaga's Ambition + Pokémon is a title that has Eevee as a "starter" of sorts, I believe (?).
Which it is tough to bring an answer to most, answers like these attracts owners and will lead to many more promising answers in the future. With loads of knowledge and determination to answer just one simple discussion question, is a great thing to have, as well as having a member with those skills involved within your club. There are very few that could extend their answers rather than just a simple one line answer, but the club is in very good condition with a handful of members answering topic discussions interestingly thus far. The only thing that could be this club's downfall is the owner's loss of interest for the club and inactivity. Which I do not expect to happen anytime soon.

The Club has a point system. It seems that many members are enjoying these system to get their favorite Pokemon as their 'Partner Pokemon.' There are 9 of 25 members who had upgraded their Partner Pokemon.
I'd like to evolve Vappy into Vaporeon please :3

It seems the point system has interesting to many. Which can be a very positive thing for most clubs as it seems. The Eeveelution Club has it as simple as it can be. Like I've mentioned previously, it's the dedication by the members toward the Club and their Eeveelution family that keeps this club on its feet and running. Which can be a huge success in the long haul!

A recommendation for the club is giving some sort of event or possibly hosting questionnaires/quizzes/trivia questions. It can attract those individuals who can think hard and test their knowledge for their beloved Eeveelution family. Aside from that, ShinySearcher01 has done an excellent job on the main post of the club. The background surprisingly is a perfect fit, as well as organized as can be.

And finally, a congratulations. This review was created for the reason of this club winning the 3rd annual of Pokemon Club of the Month. There may had been no other clubs currently worthy of winning and achieving this achievement. The Club is nicely done, the activity is in excellent shape for the club, and the dedication by everyone involved is just sky high! Congratulations to April's Pokemon Club of the Month winner!

Overall, the club doesn't need any changes necessary, although changes can be a good thing. This club is on fire as of now, and need to keep at it. This club is worthy of a 5/5 rating!

Featured Club: ❆Welcome to the Gym, Time to Test Your Might❆ (Gym Leaders' Club)

This club, run by SectorRevenge, is a club for those who are fans of Gym Leaders, some of the most important people in Pokemon.

Activity & Updates:★★★The first member was Meganium90, a moderator who joined literally a few minutes after the club was created. After that, there was a whole plethora of people who seemed interested in the club that were joining. By the time a week had passed, about half of the members who belong to the club currently had joined. However, after that, the club slowly began to decline in activity, which in large part is because of Sector's absence from PC. It has been a little dead as of late, but it is slowly rising up from the dead. There have been few updates as well, but that is what comes with a club with mediocre inactivity. It also doesn't help that there hasn't been anyone to update the club. Once Sector comes back, hopefully the club will come back to be a well oiled machine as it was before he left.

Appearance★★★ This club has some nice CSS on the first post, and it is easy to navigate around the page. However, there are many items/pics that seem to be the wrong size for the page.

Topic Making:★★★★★ There are many wonderful topics that there are available for members to answer. Many of them are thought-provoking, if not most of them. They are always fun to answer and ponder, which is what makes it such a cool club. A lot of them involve some of the most interesting topics in all of Pokemon, such as:
What do you think Gym Leaders do in their free time?
Or:
What do you think are the requirements to be a Gym Leader?
And so on.

Overall Review:★★★★ Basically, what I am trying to convey is that this club always has some interesting topics, but there are not always people to answer them. It lacks constant updating, as well as events and such. The CSS on the first post is well done, though can be a little awkward with really oversized images.
I'm a silhouette, asking every now and then
Is it over yet? Will I ever feel again?
I'm a silhouette, chasing rainbows on my own
But the more I try to move on, the more I feel alone
So I watch the summer stars to lead me home.

Club reviewing: ~Prepare For Trouble!~ [Team Rocket Fan Club]
Review:
Spoiler:
Club: ~Prepare For Trouble!~ [Team Rocket Fan Club]
Owner: Zayin (previously Regeneration)
Co-Owner: None
Founded: December 7th, 2010 (revamped under new owner on August 25th, 2011)

Currently run by Zayin, the Team Rocket Fan Club is a club for fans of Pokémon's first villainous team, Team Rocket. Whether it be the quirky trio from the anime or the more sinister team from the manga and games, the club is PokéCommunity's place to go to discuss all things Team Rocket.

Appearance:
The club's appearance is inviting, with a starry CSS background to match Team Rocket's name. The club also displays a pleasant picture of Jessie, James and Meowth. Some of the images used for the club appear to be broken, however the owner, Zayin, is currently working to fix them. The general colour scheme of yellow, black and purple, though odd-sounding, works and is very good to the eye.

Activeness and Members:
The Team Rocket Fan Club is one of the oldest active clubs at the PokéCommunity, being over one year old, and turning two this year. Though many active members have come and gone, the club still gets by, discussing all things Team Rocket. Due to personal reasons, the original owner, Regeneration, let the club run without a leader. The club survived, and last year, a new thread was made under the new leader, Zayin. The club has many members, with several top members who have been active from the beginning. Though not as active as it was in it's prime, the club is still running strong, with no sign of dying soon.

Rewards:
The club offers two Pokémon when joining from a list of Team Rocket's commonly used Pokémon. Members are rewarded for their activity with a promotion to an executive or secret agent and are allowed to evolve their partner Pokémon. The club also cleverly promotes extreme activeness, rewarding the best members with a free choice Pokémon.

Topics and Discussion:
With their age, the Team Rocket Fan Club has discussed almost every possible thing about Team Rocket, all the way from "Who is your favourite member of the Rocket trio?" to "If you were a member of Team Rocket, what type of missions would you like to do?". After all this time, the club still manages to come up with interesting discussion topics, with many recently relating to Giovanni's appearance in Pokémon Black 2 and White 2. The club also encourages discussion about Team Rocket, with debates taking place about things such as shippings and speculation.

In Conclusion:
If you're looking for an inviting club with thought-provoking topics that has stood the test of time, then the Team Rocket Fan Club is one that you should seriously consider.

I rate the Team Rocket Fan Club 8.5/10 stars.
Though, it may not be as active as it used to be, the club is still a standout at the PokéCommunity. It could however benefit from some new members, the fixing of the images on the opening post and maybe an event or competition. Other then that, the club is great and a worthy fan club of Team Rocket.

review: ♥~The Heart of Dragons~ The Iris Fan Club!♥ :D

Spoiler:
Club topic: Iris ♥
Honored guest: Nwakaego
When: God knows

At first, this club seems like yet another lame, unoriginal, boring club. The title is generically creative, the front post has no CSS...

But when you look at it closer, read the words for what they are...you see a wonderful group of people led by a wonderful youngster whose passion for Iris is quite big and wonderful too.

She has a plethora of information on why she likes Iris, not just "...because" (like I am with Grovyle). She gives us paragraphs upon paragraphs, exalting Iris (as she should), and inside a spoiler, she has yet another page just talking about how wonderful it is that...Iris is Champion. And it's not like she's using large, bold, and obnoxious fonts either. No, her font is a default size, but yet she manages to produce a wonderful and descriptive introduction to her club.

Another point I should make is that she has also done away with the sign-up form too. It is a lot more convenient for us all, if you don't have to tell everyone what you want, when it's clearly because you love Iris. She has gotten rid of something when it's unneeded, which is commendable.

All in all, I think her club is a wonderful one. However, there needs to be a bit more activity before I'll say it's perfect, so here's my verdict!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆

8/10! Not bad. The only problem I see with this club is that it needs just a bit more activity, and a tiny bit of formatting and headers (e.g. [H1 /], [H2 /], etc.) but it's a great club overall!

Spoiler:
Club: The Hive ~Bug Types Fan Club!~
Owner: GolurkIsDaBomb
Date Opened: July 19th, 2012

The club is currently run by GolurkIsDaBomb, and is designed for those that are fans of bug-type Pokémon.

Appearance and Design: Overall, I think this club is designed very good. The CSS on the opening post of the club is well-organized and is easy to read and navigate through. The color scheme is mostly green to fit with the colorings of most bug-type Pokémon. Overall rating on appearance: 5 out 5 stars. ★★★★★

Activity and Updates: This club is very active. The owner of the club is very interactive with those who sign up almost within an hour or two upon a member signing up. The first three members that signed up all signed up within 30 minutes of each other and all began discussing on their likings of bug-type Pokémon. This club has also been open for less than a week since initial opening, already has over ten members with 29 posts (as of the making of this review). The topics in shuffle have also already been updated from the original opening topics, which indicates a very active club, in my opinion. Overall rating of activity and updatings: 5 out of 5 stars. ★★★★★

Topic Making: This club has a broad selection of topics that go around the club. Most of the time, I see a club with only one running topic at a time, and changed seldomly, but this club has multiple topics at once and are updated every few days. Most of the topics are fun to answer and are very easy to answer. Overall rating on topic makings: 5 out of 5 stars. ★★★★★

As a whole...

I really recommend this club for any member here at the PokéCommunity. You don't really need to be a fan of bug-type Pokémon in general, because you can only choose one partner if you want, or more. This club is also very active and the owner of the club supports that by updating the club almost every day and interacting with those who reply to the given topics. The layout of the club is also easy to read and the CSS is organized very nicely with no colors colliding on top of one another at all.

❆Welcome to the Gym, Time to Test Your Might❆
(Gym Leaders' Club) Review

Introduction:

One of the most recognised and important roles and positions in the Pokemon Franchise (games, anime etc) are Gym Leaders. A Gym Leader, is the highest ranking member of Pokemon Gym. The main responsibility of a Gym Leader is to test and challenge Trainers and their Pokemon so that they are strong and skilled enough to be able to hold their ground in higher ranking Pokemon Battle competitions, such as regional leagues and champion leagues. If a trainer defeats a Gym Leader usually in battle (exceptions for in the anime), the Trainers earns that Gym’s Badge.

Gym Leaders also hold many other responsibilities. They must oversee and successfully manage their Gym so it reflects the best environment for their specification (type of Pokemon) and their strategic battle strategies. Teaching young, aspiring trainers even the basics of Pokemon Battling is apart of the collective jobs Gym Leader have.

The “
Welcome to the Gym, Time to Test Your Might (Gym Leaders' Club)”,is the very best place to discuss these skilled trainers and their respective gyms, Pokemon, personalities, appearance etc. Here we’re able to vent out anger at the likes of Whitney and her ghastly miltank, Bugsy and his slicing scyther, express our love for Fantina’s grace or Gardenia’s passion, admire Maylene’s strength and Sabrina’s mental power or go crazy for the wacky Crasher Wake or cool, calm and collected Gym Leader Blue.

Club Information:

Created; April 20th, 2012, 12:08 AM
Owner: Sector Revenge

Appearance and Design:

The appearance and design overall for the opening post is quite smooth and texturally interesting. The fluent black patterns ease the eye and allow one to easily distinguish what’s information and what’s decoration. The way information is arranged is nifty and neat, scrollbars allowing large amount of information to be shown, but without taking up a ridiculous amount of space to do so is highly commendable. Allowing us to see all the Gym Leaders in all generations - including now current Champions and ex-gym leaders such as Wallace, Koga and Giovanni – alongside their respective gym badge and Pokemon, is convenient and adds just that little extra content and flare to the whole post.

I love it! It's quite nice on the eyes, and it goes well together with the font colour that has been used.

The simplistic style of the post as a whole is quite beneficial, but the design does have its minor issues. The colour of the borders of boxes containing text, somewhat conflicts with the background colour and pattern; although not largely tarnishing the design overall, it does irk the eye on occasion. Nevertheless, this simplistic design exemplifies, that sometimes, less is more.

Activities and Rewards:

In this regard the club doesn’t present much. There aren’t many reward systems or extra systems in general to spur an ongoing interest in members and attract others’ how may find the general conversation boring. The lack of extra systems also may tarnish the clubs opportunity to use additional systems to serve as – in some ways- an incentive for members who might not want to contribute to discussion on first thought.

I like how you get to train under a gym leader and have to choose a Pokémon of that specific typing, however I personally think it'd be cool to have some kind of rank or upgrade system added on to that. Like based on activity and stuff like that you'd be able to become a gym leader yourself, or gain a badge.

In saying this, the club still
does offer additional features but the lack of development and use of one, let’s down the others almost entirely. The partnering system is a common yet effective and interesting feature that a variety of users enjoy all across the Pokemon Clubs board. The ability to choose a gym leader to trainer under and then pick which one of their Pokemon you wish to own, and having then the freedom to pick one of the same type yourself, is a smart and intriguing twist to this common feature. The ability to nickname our chosen Pokemon is also a bonus.

Unfortunately, the Questionnaire accompanying the Partnering/Gym Leader Trainees feature doesn’t seem to have much love or much content. The lack of questions is quite disappointing, but this feature still has great potential to become something that many will enjoy using. All-in-all, the club could definitely improve in this area.

Topics, Activity and Member base:

The topics, activity and member base of this club I have found to be exceptional. The activity shown by several members is exemplary, while the discussions they contribute to are deep and detailed. The responses to topics are lengthy but well constructed and intricate; a pleasure to read! The variety of topics generated is extremely diverse and covers many aspects of Gym Leaders we would not normal discuss, and keeps the discussion ongoing and fluent while also fresh.
The amount of members of the club in general is growing; slower the older it becomes, but nonetheless still progressive. The attitude of the club’s member base is bright, uplifting and welcoming, making joining the club even harder to resist. Members are also, really hardworking and contribute heavily to the promotion of the club; one user in particular, TheAC29, spending some of his previous time creative some snazzy user bars. Such passion is really encouraging and helps to motivate others to contribute as well.

The topics are pretty good and varied, and pretty much everyone can reply to them.

Concluding Statements:

This club is an exceptional club and by far one of the best currently open to all Pokemon Clubs posters. Its positives heavily outweigh its minuscule negatives, and it’s safely said and known that this club in a few months has thrived under public viewing and developed into something great. I highly recommend this club to all those who love discussing or simply love the whole concept of Pokemon Gym Leaders!

+ Large variety of topics
+ Members exemplify extreme dedication and passion toward the wellbeing of the club.

+ Lengthy, well-constructed, intricate posts.

+ Deep and detailed discussions.

+ Smooth design for the most part.

The Dragon's Dungeon
The Eye of the Dragons (Dragon's Club), club review. This is a club created by Sector Revenge July 28th, 2012, 05:46 AM to be exact. It discusses everything dealing with Dragon Type Pokemon.

Activity/Updates
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
The activity in this club was very high as expected when the club is first made, but after the first day it slowed down to a more normal, yet healthy activity level. It is updated within 24 hours which I have noticed does not happen in other clubs I have seen.

Appearance ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
At first sight this club looked incredibly appealing. The background fits perfectly with the club and the images choosen for it were also perfectly fitting except for the last one, I mean it's nice itself, but it doesn't blend very nice with the background.

Topics ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
I found that this club had interesting topics, yet they weren't exactly any better than the topics in other clubs. They don't seem very unique to me, with topics such as, "Which Dragon type & Dragon family member are you most disappointed in?" or "Which Dragon type & Dragon family member are you most disappointed in?"

Conclusion
The Eye of the Dragons is a visually appealing club, and has a healthy amount of activity, and even though the topics may not be unique to other clubs, they are a cause for good conversation.

So Overall...
Well I rated all the sections 4 stars so I think that averages...umm.... ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆

Welcome to...
Krazzikk's Review For The Club, *Splash* the Magikarp and Gyarados Club!
Note:
Spoiler:
Do not judge this club in the future based on how it is now, it is Very liable to change

*Splash* is a club opened July 31, 2012 by Docowocool as a place to have "quizzes, competitions, weekly topics and more! It is all about Magikarp and Gyarados." As quoted from the OP.

Appearance 3/5 stars
The OP is nice, neat, and clean, but it is a bit boring, some CSS would contribute greatly to the appearance. I can't give Docowocool all the credit for the neatness that it is in now though (or the majority of it) because Olli fixed it up a lot for him. (Way to go Olli) So overall the appearance is about average

Misc. Complaints/Features
I like that the club has daily random facts for Magikarps and Gyarados's. One of the fact posts was:
Random Magikarp fact of the day
In Diamond, Pearl ad Platinum, a German Magikarp could be recieved in a trade, if you gave a Finneon.

Random Gyarados fact of the day
In Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heartgold and Soulsilver, a shiny red Gyaradoscould be caugh at level thirty on the Lake of Rage.
It seems like it will be a interesting little thing for the future.

One complaint, and a sign of either laziness or un-attentiveness is that he spelled my name krazzik. Now this isn't that big of a deal but I thought it should be mentioned in the review.

Overall...2.5/5 Stars!

Alright, emblems have been awarded, and it's time to announce the winner.

While all the reviews were pretty good, and some quite entertaining to read, the reviews are meant to bring new members to the club, to present the details of the club itself, where trivial stuff like who the first member was and stuff like that can be a bit of a distraction. Vaporeon7's review was a nice example of that, and that is why he ended up winning the contest. All the reviews were really good, and there were others who could easily have won as well, so good job everyone :D

Just to clarify, the "Captivating" emblem are for visually appealing reviews, just if the description of it was misleading.
Not removing this from my signature!
