For many of us hardcore gamers, who've played many many different types of games, we've played as or with a diverse range of characters. But which ones did you like the most? Most importantly however, did you find yourself attached to a certain character? Who? Why? What do you think you'd do if they died, or when they did die? Finding the right character too, (when given the opportunity to choose or create our own) is also important. Do you find yourself designing and scultping characters that represent you or share your attributes? Or do you prefer to make as farfetch'd characters as possible? Discuss!

Personally, I've never been attached to a character, I suppose I could say that I am attached to Crash Bandicoot or Spyro as they were my favourite games to play throughout my childhood, but I think I was more into the franchises - which have been ruined imo - that I loved, rather than the characters themselves.

James Sunderland, Leon S. Kennedy, Genis (ToS) are the ones that stand out straight away for me.

Sunderland because he is from my favourite game of all time and, well, I really felt for him in the story so, how could I not become attached to him.

Leon is just awesome and badass, so I instantly liked his character and was always like 'NOOOOOOO' when I got him killed.

Genis from Tales of Symphonia has a special place in my heart because, he is just all adorable. I use to use him when I was playing with friends and it was awesome.

Zelos from Tales of Symphonia.. and Miles Edgeworth from Ace Attorney are the two biggest that stand out for me *_*
When Miles wasn't in the 4th game I was all "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"
;_; And in TOS I made SURE to get the Zelos ending.

Zack Fair in Crisis Core, Naomi and Eva in Metal Gear Solid 4, and Deepthroat/Grey Fox/Cyborg Ninja/Frank Jaeger/Null in Metal Gear 1 are the characters I was like "WHAT?! NOOOOOOOOO!!!" When they died. And Raiden too, but later you find he didn't really die.

Characters that didn't die that I was attached to, Kain from FFIV, Yuffie from VII, Sully from Uncharted (I knew he didnt die in 3, I saw that coming), and Para Medic in MGS3 (I liked her codec calls, I pretty much called her everytime I found new food.)

I'm definitely most attached to Bayonetta above any character. I honestly got upset every time she died (many times) while I was playing the game. I'm also pretty attached to Chis Redfield (hubba hubba *_*), Jak, every character ever in Final Fantasy and pretty much every Pokemon I've ever used.

I tended to get a wee pissed whenever one of the characters I was using in games like KH Birth By Sleep and Persona 3 Portable ended up kicking the bucket both in battle and in story, Terra and Shinjiro Aragaki tend to stand out for me when mentioning my more emotional experiences in those games tbh.

Thane, Garrus and Tali from the Mass Effect series are my "PLEASE NEVER DIE" characters. I will do anything evil or corrupt to keep them alive. They're just my favorites. Unfortunately not everything works out how we like in games and the good die young. :(

I wasn't particularly happy that Zexion in Kingdom Hearts "dies." A lot of the Organization "dies" in Chain of Memories and I'm like "NO DAMMIT!" and ugh. I say "dies" because they're not really people. If you've played the series you know what I mean.

I also really liked Claus in Mother 3. It's not that you get to see him throughout the game, but you are looking for him and you play as his twin brother. And you see them at the beginning where he goes missing, so you get a bit attached at the beginning. And when he falls through a crack in the canyon and Flint is standing there looking for him and the camera pans over to Claus, where Flint can't see him but you can, you're just yelling "HE'S RIGHT THERE!!! LOOK!!" and you want him to find him but :( And tbh, I haven't played in a long time so idr if he actually dies at the end after you "fight" him (if you call that a fight), but I think it's close enough. I'm 90% sure he does. But he does feel kinda "dead" throughout the game, cause you don't find out it's him until the final battle really. So it still counts.

I might come back and edit this later.
