So I was listening through some songs that I used to listen to a long time ago, and it made me think back on some times that I really enjoyed, which followed by a overwhelming and painful feeling of nostalgia, something I experience every now and then.

So yeah, have you ever experienced nostalgia to the point where it actually hurt, or felt close to? If so, what caused it? If not, just mention what usually causes nostalgia for you.

Yes, I have. I can name a specific one, it's whenever I listen to Disturbia by Rihanna, or Fake It by Seether. I don't listen to them at all anymore, cept the odd time or two. I did in middle school, though, and if I ever hear it, I always get a really painful sense of nostalgia. Those songs were two that I remember playing during key moments in my middle school life. -sigh- How time flies...
he did it, not me.

No, not really. All places or objects which I feel as strong sense of nostalgia for I can. The town which I grew up in is only a hour long train ride away, and I visit it a lot as I like to shop there. If I ever feel nostalgic, I'll go there.

I never have felt any sadness to any nostalgic memories.

Nostalgic things never really make me sad. If there's a memory that makes me sad, I don't consider it nostalgia...just me missing that time, or that being a particularly sad time. But anyway, when I look at my Pokemon cards, I think of good summers when I was a kid when me and my best friend would go swimming, trade Pokemon cards, play Pokemon Stadium 2, as well as other N64 games, and pick on my sister haha. Older Pokemon games like Red and Silver remind me of a difficult time of my life where they were all I had till I was able to get my stuff back from our house. But they kept me happy during that time, even though it was 2004 and those games were pretty old by then haha. Most of my nostalgia comes from Pokemon, come to think of it. But yeah. Good stuff. :)

Yeah, this happens quite a bit for me. My childhood was so amazing that whenever I think about the fact that it's over, it really really hurts.

It just happened about ten minutes ago, in fact, when I saw this:

This was my best friend in my childhood, he lived two doors up from me and we were nearly inseparable. Our families had a feud when I was like 15 and he moved across town when I was 17, so it's been ages since we've actually hung out, but he was my childhood. More than Pokemon, more than Power Rangers, more than anything. And now it's all over and we're adults and he's moving to frikkin' England and I find that unbearably hard to swallow.

Like Sydian, a lot of my nostalgia comes from Pokemon, but some of it comes from music or old billboard advertisements or even photos online of old things, such as what a cell phone was like in the 90's. Fun times. Fuuuun times~

Many Australian ads in the 90's give me nostalgia. Man we had some iconic ones back in the day.

And Pokemon of course, I grew to see how it changed over the years.

I even listen to music from many years back, just to bring back those memories.
Gone forever for personal reasons.

I've experienced a lot of nostalgia in the form of late '90s/early 2000's songs (like Linkin Park's In the End). Whenever I hear those kinds of songs, I can't help but listen in. My LEGO collection is also a huge nostalgia factor; I remember collecting a bunch of them when I was younger.
