For those who have played the mystery dungeon series, most would say its an enjoyable series. Even tho I haven't played every single pokemon spin-off first hand, the PMD series is and will most likely always be my favorite pokemon spin-offs. But my question is; Have you ever reached a point in the game where you were struck emotionally, even a tiny bit? I have, and i'm not ashamed to say, that I've cried(like really, really badly) at certain scenes in all three games i've played so far.

*SPOLIERS* For Which Game and at which scenes, are below:

Red Rescue Team:
Spoiler:
Red Rescue Team was my first ever pokemon game. And of course the end when you disappear :(. I was so heartbroken when I played and finished the game for the first time at leaving my partner, and everyone of the villagers saddened by my vanishing. I cried on my first and second completion of the game.

Explorers of Time:
Spoiler:
For me this game had a much better in-depth and developed story line. The scene when grovyle disappeared into the future really did it for me. I was even worse cause I was older and was better understanding and thought process during this time. In short - I was messed up. Grovyle was my favorite character ever since we went into the future and found out the truth, so I really got attached to him....them he sacrificed himself :'( to take Dusknoir back to the future with him. The ending scene as well where you disapear. More so cause the ending credits and epilogue go by after you disappear and that's really messed up. Doesnt stop there tho, cause then they show you(a few months after you've been gone your partner having flashbacks of your adventures and then crying his/her eyes out. Then Dialga restores you back to present time :)

Explorers of the Sky:
Spoiler:
Pretty much the same main storyline as explorers of time except I didnt cry, rather was heavy hearted since I new what to expect. But what did strike me as super saddening was the special episodes. The ones with igglybuff, grovyle, and grovyle and dusknoir in the future. Those had nearly the same effect as the main story from time.

So what do you guys think? Were you sad? What parts? Which games did you play? And what are you thoughts on the scenes and the story? What are your thoughts on your partner in-story? Mystery Dungeon - Only games i've cried over...somewhat hysterically.

The only game throughout the franchise that I cried for the intended purpose. Played through all of the series and I feel the second installment was the best out the series Sky/Darkness/Time. Maybe even the best out of the entire franchise for me, and it was something new. I just hope that the new installment will live up to the expectations I have for it (which I don't think it will gameplay-wise but maybe story wise). The story had me cry multiple times in both stories although I barely remember the first game but I felt more emotionally involved with the second installment.

I got emotional when I was playing the PMD Blue but I wasn't in other games (Darkness, Time and Sky) even though they were more deep story-wise...
Guess I grew older...
But I love PMDs and I'm looking forward to trying 3DS one.

Red Rescue Team: I started feeling really sad when me and my partner were running away from town. Since I'm a really emotional guy, I got a tear to my eye from that. All the sad dialogue and the sad music it was awesome... If it was would have been cutscenes without the dungeons then it would have been perfect. :') And of course the ending. I cried for 15 minutes straight. T^T
Explorers of Sky: When I played this game my sadness level went over board. First of all, Grovyle's so called death. I didn't cry in this scene but I got really emotional about it. And then the ending, oh the ending. I cried for so darn long, I stopped when the credits were over, and then when I saw that my partner and me reunited, I just said YES, YES, YES!!!! But, this is what's weird. I cried the most in the Igglybuff the Prodigy special episode, I got so sad when Armaldo left Igglybuff. T_T I also cried a bit in Grovyles special episode.
So these games are amazing emotion bringers to me. :3

Pokeanalysis: You are very mysterious like the ocean abyss, choosing not to give away your true intentions and feelings. People don't know much about you, as you don't strive to be the center of attention like most people. You love your close friends and would do anything to protect them and defend them. You are kind and intelligent, and very powerful. You are a lover of peace and tranquility and hate meaningless violence. This makes you like Lugia!

I have to admit, I started crying the first (and only) time I beat PMD Red Rescue Team. For some reason I just feel that we have more of an emtional connection to the PMD games compared to the main games. This is most likely due to the game telling us that we ARE the main character and we actually went around making friends with other characters.

Nope. Not even Mother 3, a supposedly heartwrenching game can get me to feel like weeping. However, I only played the Blue DS game.

I will say this much, though. The story, the ending, and everything else had me thinking "why don't the main games have stories this deep?". Granted, they might now, idk, but at the time it was amazing coming from a Pokemon game.

Y-Yeah. My first game was Pokemon explorers of sky. Damn it, remember when I cried because Grovyle left, the Igglibuff the prodogy episode...and you know what made me cry? The ending. I was leaving my partner and I was like...oh no...then in the credits I cried even more because I thought I would disappear FOREVER. Then when I returned...I was like: " What? Wait, what?! Yay!!!!!!!" In my Blue I didn't cry cause I alrleady knew I was going to return...

Oh good, I'm not the only one! Yeah, I was surprised by the route the story was going in PMD Darkness (it's my first of the spin-offs). At the end when you "disappear"... OMG, I was trying not to tear up with my partner.
Please PM me when you add me so I may add a new friend!

That Igglybuff side story with Armaldo! It was so emotional and the music at the end was so moving.

Red Rescue Team was the first game to make me cry. I also think it sorta "unlocked" my emotions afterwards too. Before seeing that ending, I thought of myself as kinda immune to crying out of sadness. Then after that, I've become much more in touch with my emotions. :)

In Darkness, I didn't cry at the ending, but I felt the sadness welling up inside me. I guess maybe it was because I knew it was coming and unintentionally braced myself for it? In Sky, I cried tears of joy during the scene where
Spoiler:
Bidoof saved food for us. I don't know, I guess it was a really feel-good sorta thing for me.
Also, although I've already seen it in Darkness, I cried when
Spoiler:
Chatot sacrificed himself in Brine Cave for us. Despite what most people say, I really quite like Chatot! ^-^

As for the Special Episodes, I'm positive I cried at the ending of Igglybuff the Prodigy, and maybe the last episode too.

Really, the music in this game does contribute a lot to the emotional essence in my opinion.

I truly did cry at the end of all of the PMD games. I'm man enough to admit it.

Yes I did, I'm not afraid to admit.

Spoiler:
At the last part after defeating Dialga, when my character started to disappear due to the changing of the future and the fact that those from the future (that includes myself) not being able to exist in the past any longer, I cried.

I cried with sobs heaving my body and tears running down my face. It was just too saddening and it touched my innermost being with such passionate emotion I could not hold in my tears.
Goodness me, I should be a poet or something lolol.

o___o I never finished PMD. I have Explorers of Darkness. Now I wanna finish it gosh darn. XD

It made me love Bidoof though. I mean, in the main series games I am still like "NO BIDOOF GO AWAY" but in that game he was just so freakin' cute. XD

The first time I played those series....

The scene that struck me emotionally was in fact the first one,
in which I could see butterfree talking to me. In my opinion, it
was hilarious to imagine them speaking to me in real life.

I didn't mention it, but I really didn't expect me to become a cubone ;°)

I did cry at the ending of PMD : Darkness/Time/Sky. Just- accepting that you're going to be wiped from existence if you succeed, and if you don't, everything goes to chaos.
But this shows a perfect example of the Grandfather Paradox. Simply put, since the future was changed from what it was originally supposed to be, your character - and Grovyle - ceased to exist. But, since your character didn't exist, that means he wouldn't have been able to go back in time and change the future. I don't know; just something to ponder about.
I didn't exactly cry at the end of Red and Blue PMD, but I did feel pretty sad. And what I've seen from giancarloparimango on YouTube, the next PMD games also get those sad parts.

And there's not a whole lot of games that have made me shead tears.
I mean, there's - maybe Mother 3, though it was a while ago I first beaten it, Katawa Shoujo, if you consider it to be a game, and Aerith dying - because I was just so unprepared for that.
And maybe some parts of Okami and Okamiden.
