Thank you all for the kind words!
Alexial has actually been extremely good to me in regards to my joining PC. I would have done it on the same day she signed up, but at the time I was extremely involved in a forum titled "YoYoNation" which is now more-or-less defunct. The entire yoyoing community is actually crippled by literal and figurative deaths, so I find myself less and less involved in it despite my want to continue. The fountain pen community is much the same, but has a different set of constraints. 90% of fountain pen enthusiasts are wealthy and over the age of 50, so I can't see myself spending too much more time among them before I grow and manicure a mustache and start trading energy futures.
Pokemon, on the other hand, fits me perfectly.
Alexial and I got together years ago and I've got a lovely story about my first steps into the world of Pokemon. At the time, neither of us had a working computer or television, but Alexial had two Nintendo DS systems and graciously gave me one along with her copy of Platinum. Over the next few months she coached me through everything from picking my very first starter up to making a fantastic type-specific flying team.
Time has progressed and we've found our own both in the world and with each other, but Pokemon has remained a fantastic cornerstone of our relationship. We begin every Saturday watching it on television and I'm lucky enough to afford her a new plush every gift-giving holiday (and sometimes just because).
Now, to all of you interested even in the slightest in yoyos, yoyoing, or just fast-moving bright colors, I implore you to search the terms "Jensen Kimmit 2012" in your engine of choice and watch the YouTube video that follows (I only have one post, so I'm forbidden from linking things). In my opinion it displays everything good, bad, and ugly about yoyoing in one < 3 minute tour-de-force of skill and self-righteousness. Jensen Kimmit is not a good spokesperson for the hobby, but his skill does speak for itself (if not his taste in music).
To anyone interested in fountain pens, feel free to ask me any question you can think of. I've happily turned Alexial from a pencil-wielding lemming (sorry, babe) to a fountain pen user of the highest caliber. She's even let me fully customize her most prized pen (a 1919 Waterman 552 with a super-flex nib and full 14k overlay that I was lucky enough to purchase for her birthday). I can teach you everything you need to know about fountain pens in about 10 minutes, so don't hesitate to ask.
I'll likely only be checking PC once or twice a day because of the hectic pace of the life Alexial and I have somehow wound up living, but I promise not to be a stranger!
Also, the username Zissou comes directly from "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou" because I try to live my life in accordance with the spirit of that film. Alexial and I fell in love while trying to understand and fully appreciate the meaning of the film and I have not and will not forget the feelings that period in time stirred in me. I also believe the word "zissou" means "courage" in Finnish, but I'm far from courageous and have no illusions about myself becoming courageous through naming myself as such.
So, sorry for the text-wall, but I've got about a year of missed time to make up for!
