I didn't like White much, either, both when I first got it and even now. I just don't like the region/generation, but luckily, I did enjoy B2/W2 a lot more than its prequel counterparts.
Also, about the Nidoran you want to catch, the number of Pokémon that appear in the Forest itself is dependent upon the number of people that live within the actual Forest. When you first entered the Forest, the number of people living within it was determined by how long it took you to actually get there (the amount of days it took you to defeat the game). To get more residents to live within it, you must use the
Entralink feature in your game to try and persuade people from Black City to come and live within the Forest. The more residents that come, the better; however, you can only have up to 10 at a time (0-10). The more residents within the Forest increases your chances of encountering all the different types of version exclusive Pokémon in the White version.
