Oh hey, you guys have Nick Montgomery and Marcel Seip, those are two names I haven't heard in a while. Also that South Korean guy that was at Gamba a few seasons ago.

Montgomery still kicking clumps out of people?

Popovic thing feels like his agent is trying to stir up some attention. I expect he'll show up in the media a few more times over the coming months now.
Monty's doing pretty well, have to say. Even been captain for some games when our one wasn't available, and he's a good fit for the club. Suppose he could still work on passing at times, but more than makes up for it with winning the ball. Tough but not brutal or anything in his tackling here imo.

Seip hasn't been very popular but I think he's put in some good games of late...until he got injured. Kim (the Korean player) has been more disappointing personally, and found wanting. Hopefully he'll be better after a preseason. And we have long off-seasons...

And yeah, I don't think we need another thread, this one probably would be just fine for discussing it. Not that there'd be much off-season movement during then to take away from it, haha.

Should the World Cup get its own thread? It's such a huge event that I think it deserves a thread on its own, though I won't fight off any disagreements.
Nah. If people want to talk about the World Cup then they'll find their way here.
It was pretty big last time, just checking through my created threads I see it had 1000+ replies in the few months before and during the tournament whereas this has 1500 in just over a year. I guess it's a judgement call really, I suppose it would be helpful for us 'regulars' to keep track of our usual club football discussion while there's tons of replies about the world cup going on.

Hey bobandbill, it's nice to see an Aussie. I have some extended family in Perth who support Perth Glory and the Australian national team. That does sound like a crappy situation with your ex-manager, but then these sort of things happen a lot with managers these days.

Nah, I don't think it'll be that bad this time. in 2, 4, 6 and 8 years time of course big things will be expected of this squad.

I actually think Ingerland will surprise a lot of people this time. I mean we aren't going to be playing 1980s style football, surely with this squad.

I definitely agree with you. We're always better when there is less pressure.

Whether we do good or not, I'll be happy if we have the lower hype we did at Euro 2012. I much prefer the tournament as a whole spectacle rather than just hearing England all the time.

Congratulations to Sevilla! It's amazing to think it was only eight years ago they were destroying beating us in this same game. I'm loving the coaching staff's suits by the way, red elbow patches look surprisingly nice on those suits.

I'm at a hotel 12,000 km away from home but ATLEEETI ATLEEETI ATLÉEETICO DE MAAADRIIID

Completely broke my voice screaming at that goal. But it was worth it.
Congratulations, perhaps you'll be losing your voice even more next weekend. Great job by Diego Simeone. I wish I could've watched the game, but a genius in the English fa decided to move the fa cup to the same time.

Big shame for Hull and it's sad to see Arsenal's trophy drought over too.

One more major game and this season is basically over, it feels like no time since we were discussing Welbeck scoring on the opening day.

A good day for Spanish football.

Sadly, just as predicted, it seems the new manager will not be named within a week. Sure we'll get a well worded statement from the club tomorrow saying that rushing into an appointment isn't best for the club....then a few days later we'll hire the man everyone's been expecting for month.

I'd still take Mourinho any day of the week.

Well, the statement is here. I take it Malky is holding out an extra few days just in case an offer comes in from West Brom.

It is ridiculous, he already tried an unsettled tactic last year to get a new contract. Milner also 'wants to leave' supposedly, it's pretty transparent that he is trying to get more money now that he is more valuable to the team due to their squad restrictions.

Yeah, I've turned up here again xD
Yaya Toure has more in common with Manchester's favourite Shrek/human hybrid than we thought by the headlines today.

As a Manchester United fan though, yesterday was pretty momentous...truly seems to be the end of an era now Giggsy has retired from playing, although no doubt he's going to stick around the club until he actually kops it, a bit like Bayern's old stars. Unlike SAF, I do think he has an obvious heir - they've got to give Januzaj the No. 11 shirt, man's been hyped more than Ronaldo was and for good reasons, their first season stats are incredibly similar, but Januzaj was that good in easily the worst United side since the formation of the Premier League.

Also, like many United supporters I loved it in his last game when Giggs was playing like a man possessed, beating players down the left wing at 40 and nearly scoring an outstanding free kick (Hull would've won the F.A. Cup if their keeper was pulling off saves like that in the final). But I'm also one of those who wasn't born in a time before the PL...I never realised just how good he was:

Can you guys honestly think of many who've been that explosive in the PL? Obviously my Red-tinted view of things means I naturally only compare with the likes of Januzaj and Ronaldo, but still, not many right?
