Well, Australia did put up one hell of a fight, they were leading 2-1 as well! I was going crazy when that penalty went in! Shame it had to finish the way it did.

The highlight is seeing Spain go out... Just like France did in 2002... well, if they lose to Australia.

Croatia 1-0 Cameroon, this is good so far but I'm so nervous.

EDIT: YESSSSSS! HRVATSKA 2-0 UP!!!

2ND EDIT: AND IT'S 3 FOR CROATIA!!!

3RD EDIT: Manzukic makes it 4-0 Croatia! They've played well here.

Australia and Holland might end up being a goal scoring frenzy. I think Australia for this game should be at least 25/1 and not 12/1. If Holland play the way they played against Spain, then I'm sorry, I can see it being a goalfest.
What was that, you say? :V Goalfest, yes, but not a one sided affair. =p

Yeah, sure, Holland were kinda off their game I feel, but nonetheless, what a match! Again we did ourselves proud, and if not for some poor defending... (I feel our keeper may have done better for the third goal, but on the flip side that'd be ignoring three good saves he made throughout the match, so really the dutch had plenty of chances). Defense shouldn't have stood off him so much as well. And the second goal one defender didn't come up and let van Persie remain onside. Our penalty was lucky too (after all, it hit the hand, but still fair because he left it out there). Nonetheless, still going to be thinking 'what-ifs' the rest of the day, haha.

That said about the defense - we lost our RB to injury the previous match, and one of our CBs got injured some months back to a sprinkler of all things... plus our other defensive midfielder (that said, his replacement did alright I feel). So we didn't have an ideal squad.

What a goal from Cahill. Guess we'll see how we manage without him against a Spain with nothing to play for.

People elsewhere (some of our dumber fans I suppose) commenting that our keeper should have saved the first one, which I don't see. He got close to it but Robben with that much space and time to shoot... was always going in, I don't see how he was at fault there.

I hope we can donate those three points to Australia. They deserve them much more than us.

Now it's when I should quote all the people who have told me "Don't worry, you'll make it through easily" these last weeks but alas. Should have put a fiver on it.

To be honest I was not expecting Spain to do a France like in 2002. It has really been quite the surprise.

Well, I'm pulling for Costa Rica to beat Italy tomorrow. I really hope that they do.
Italy's next match is not until Friday. Course in my predictions I have Italy winning against Costa Rica.

>Chris Brown: Blackburn Rovers 'offer deal' to Doncaster striker

Replacing Jordan Rhodes with Chris Brown would probably make me want to give up on life if I were a Rovers fan. Although I suppose he's improved from his short stint at Norwich where he managed a single goal in about 20 games.

After watching the first half of the Uruguay vs England match, I am starting to worry that one of my World Cup predictions will not come true. Reason why I am worrying is because Suarez scored 39 minutes into the match.

I thought Italy and Costa Rica played today, my mistake. Colombia played quite well against Ivory Coast, it could be anyone's guess who they will play in Group D.

England purely don't have what it takes anymore. Been going in with very high expectations, and are just a real embarassment. Sorry if I've offended, but it's the truth.

I have Italy in a work sweepstake, and Italy need to win both of their matches to save England.

...I AM THE BIGGEST ITALY FAN YOU WILL EVER SEE IN ENGLAND.

(England don't really deserve a place in the knockouts though)

I was very disappointed in the Japan v Greece game tonight. Greece really didn't push that much after going down to 10 men. Japan had chances but didn't take them. No one is out of the group yet but it's gonna take a ton for Greece or Japan to get 2nd, because Ivory Coast is now the favorites to go through.

Congratulations, you got it right! I hope you had put a fiver on it, because, otherwise, I'm afraid all you are going to get out of this is the personal satisfaction of guessing one of the biggest upsets so far XD

As much as I like to see the underdogs win, I was pissed by Italy's defeat. Cassano was a huge round 0. Pirlo wasn't in his brightest but he had all of Costa Rica's midfield pressing him. Balotelli never had space for anything, and in the one single through ball that had no one offside, Insigne decides to waste it the way he did.

Oh, and England's out. Sorry, mates.

Well, let's just hope that we can beat the US, else this was a bad round of matches.

I'm definitely buying a Costa Rica jersey after this World Cup has finished. I didn't put a fiver on, I put £1.25 on it, ended up with £7.50. I can get myself a pizza to enjoy the Ghana v Germany game tomorrow.

Oh and btw, England will make it to the Euro 2016 finals, it's a given. All they gotta do is buy the tickets.

All I have to say is wow, what a huge win for Costa Rica's team and their country as a whole. Comparing their contrasting populations is a real eye-opener: Italy's population is around 60 million people, while Costa Rica is sitting pretty at 4.8 million. I'm happy for them, even if I picked Italy to win, haha. Now hopeful that Brazil can bounce back from a rather disappointing showing against Mexico.

Well lets hope by 2016 Hodgson has gone full youth (lets face it with 24 spots at the finals qualifying will be a doddle so we might as well) and we see a large amount of progression. No more Glen Johnson, no more Phil Jagielka, no more average players who were hardly worth an England place at their prime nevermind now. It's a shame we'll probably just see Flanagan & Stones and no real risks like Will Hughes or someone.

Anyway for the rest of the tournament (though I fear they'll soon follow us out) GO PORTUGAL GOOO!!!

Well at the half of the Germany vs Ghana match, the score is 0 - 0. Course odds are not good for Ghana, since if Germany wins today and the US wins or ties against Portugal tomorrow, Ghana is out. Where as if Germany wins today and the US wins or ties against Portugal tomorrow, Germany will advance to the Round of 16. I hope Germany wins.

Yeah, I don't see Portugal doing well today either. Plus if the US wins today, it is guaranteed that they will be the sixth country moving on to the Round of 16. Argentina was the fifth country moving on to the Round of 16, said confirmation occurred yesterday.

With Coentrão's injury, our left back side will be an open highway, since his replacement is someone who's done like three or four matches in that role in his whole life. And that was playing for a Benfica side that crushed almost anything in sight this year, against lowly clubs of this league - and even in his natural position (midfield) he is nothing special. Not so worried about Pepe since his replacement Neto is not bad at all, but is not used to this level of playing. And I'm glad Hugo Almeida is out, how is that guy even called for the national team anymore, seriously. Even I would do better than him. And I hope the manager changes something in that midfield because they've been a disgrace lately.

But yes, we have to stop the whole "get the ball to Ronaldo and leave him to do the rest" or else we're screwed.
