Last time I did that I killed my laptop for two months. Barely touched it until my dad came down to visit and he said that it'll do that because the laptop is getting old; it's not too loud but definitely louder than when I got it and sometimes when I'm opening a program or something it gets really loud for that moment. I've had it a little over three years now.

I'll find some compressed air and try to see if it helps though. Since it might if I don't kill the poor thing a second time (which wouldn't be good at all).

About a month or so ago I applied some compressed air into my laptop after having the issue of the fan going on loud when no CPU was really in use, and after that it did help some with the noise.

I don't really like applying compressed air to laptops because it varies by the manufacturer on how to clean them out.. but lucky for mine I just had to blow the compressed air through the vents without having to take anything apart.

Last time I tried taking apart a laptop I just made it worse so never again am I going to take one apart. I'm terrible with technology weh. But it's not too loud right now just kind of that little 'hmmmmm' sound? Regardless this laptop needs to stay together until I have the money for a new one which is not anytime soon.

My old Sony Vaio laptop turns itself off as soon as it boots if it's unplugged. It works fine if I keep it plugged into its charger, though. I'd replace its battery, but some of its keys are nonfunctional. ): It's also very slow and runs Windows Vista, which I truly despise. I could completely erase its hard drive, add more ram, and install a new operating system, but that'd take too much time and effort. I'm not sure if I'd be using much, either, since I already have a newer laptop. D:

I used to have this battery on my old HP laptop that, once unplugged, would very quickly lose power and drain from 100% to 0% in less than 20 minutes. Worked fine while plugged in, but would randomly and suddenly shut down without prior notice. Now with the new hard drive installed, it's more or less a brand new operating system with a 4-year-old casing. The current new battery is slightly better in performance as well.

I've had my old Windows Vista laptop for about 3-4 years and finally, finally got a Macbook Pro to replace it with in April. Never felt such a huge difference.. went from a really loud (its fan) Inspiron 1525 to a Macbook with SSD. Gotta love the silence.

I know! I'm using a Macbook Air now and I'm constantly marvelling at how silent it is. I can't even hear a sound from it, even with the fan switched off. Gotta love Macbooks. (Y)

I've a dv6. And I broke the chassis. And the battery life is little more than two hours. I would like to get a new laptop, but this one still works. Like chicken ribs, I don't know if I should use it or throw it away.

I'm perfectly happy with my tablet and my desktop computer right now. My previous laptop was a Toshiba and man, that thing did last. After three and a half years, the laptop's fan started to malfunction and the battery did not work anymore. It did its best. :)

I can sit around for six, sometimes seven hours before my MBP's battery life gets down to 10%. Another big improvement over my old craptop Inspiron 1525, which barely lasted an hour and a half if that~

You be the judge. Is it functioning well? No overheating probs? Specs outdated probably? (I had to survive with 2 GB of memory and I felt it was painful lmao)

All you macbook peoples :< man, if there was only a less costly alternative...

@Megan: well it's fast enough... I'm just disappointed at the display and battery life. I only get the 2+ ish hours if screen brightness is on low. It's not too outdated, 2.3 Ghz quad core so it's good enough for most of my requirements - I hate these go-either-way decisions. Also I broke off a bit of the chassis so the hinge that connects the screen to the rest of the body is kind of flimsy. It feels kinda crippled.

I think a replacement is suggested, but from what I'm seeing, I think the computer would be okay for the next few months or even the rest of the year. I'll only consider a replacement if the laptop is experiencing any technical malfunction like a failing hard drive or the fan is starting to make cringing noises.

but yeah, it's either-or. xD

i don't even know tbh.
i just............

I just got my laptop a few months ago, so it still better be working! It's running great so far and I'm happy with it. I'm interested to see how I'll use this thing in college, as I prefer hand-written notes.

I'm still waiting for the heat to die out so I can turn off the AC and open the windows (and walk outside at noon because I miss those days :( )

I'm waiting for things to change around here with the weather too.. I want to see all sunny skies again with cooler temperatures and no humidity and a chilly and cool breeze blowing as well so that I know for sure that the "Florida summer" is over with.
