Yeah, so I was checking out fantasticfakemon on Tumblr, and I saw some seriously creative designs. I was so swept away with some of them I wished they were real Pokemon! So then: what are your favorite Fakemon?

And also: do you think it's bad that most people who create Fakemon imitate Ken Suigimori's style instead of using their own?
I am a huge fan of Fakemon and often will spend my time browsing google images for them. I love the ideas that fans are able to come up with and hope that a similar design might make it into the games one day.

While this is only a pseudo fakemon, it still counts to me. His name is Sandform and he was made for me by my best friend GolurkIsDaBomb :]

I only like fakemon that follow Sugimori's style. I want to be able to picture said fakemon actually being in the game, even if its just a hacked version, fitting in with the rest.

It grinds my klinklangs when I look through fanmade regional dexes, and literally-calculated more than 99% of the pokemon are dual types. Furthermore, I'd much rather see original designs than the umpteenth fakemon evolution of Farfetch'd or prevo of Kangaskhan.

^ Grinds my Kinklangs? That's gonna be my new expression

While I really like it when artist's try out their own styles, I gotta say I'm a huge sucker for fakemon that look like Ken really drew it. It's just how I roll. However, there are some Fakemon without Ken's style or that are too detailed to be actual Pokemon that look excellent, for example:

I love fakemons, but only when they look kind of like Sugimori's style, for the same reason that Shrew stated. I want to picture them in the same style as the official pokémon.

I love to see fakedexes, but something that disturbs me is when most pokémon have the same shape in a fakedex. Like, bipedal or four-legged monsters pretty much. Official pokémon have such an amazing variation when it comes to shapes and ideas. Ice cream cones, bears, fish, birds, larva, washing machines, spirits, Victreebel haha... Pokémon look very different from one another (in most cases) and I think it's important to remember that when creating fakemon.

I really like some of the creative designs people some up with. I don't remember exactly where I saw it, but I saw someone who made a bug/psychic pokemon and I swear it would have fit right on with the new generation. On Smogon's forums they have their CAP (create a pokemon project) and some of the designs are pretty good. Not all of them, but some of them I could see being real pokemon.
