Using what you know about money, let's predict about how long it would take you - with your money spending habits - to spend all of a certain amount.

Let's also assume, in this little experiment, that you aren't worried about spending it all because the amounts that are going to be listed are just a portion of the amount that you have at your disposal. I feel that's important to add, because most people would only be reluctant to spend this money if they knew that it was all they had.

1 dollar
10 dollars
100 dollars
1000 dollars

convert dollars into whatever your currency is.

  • 1 USD (44.22 PHP)
I'd spend 0.90 USD (40 PHP) on a small can of Pringles haha. I love Pringles, especially the sour and cream one! Pringles is my favorite snack so I never get tired of eating them even if I'm full. And I'd probably spend the rest in candies or stuff like that. So I'm guessing it would take me five minutes to spend a dollar. Two minutes for an elevator ride down to the ground floor, where there's a 7-Eleven, two minutes to look for good candies, and a minute for the cute cashier guy to put it in a plastic bag.

  • 10 USD (442.15 PHP)
Ten dollars is a pretty big deal. Well, I guess I'll buy a Percy Jackson book which is 6.54 USD (289 PHP) and spend the rest (3.46 USD/152.98 PHP) on another tall can of Pringles. That takes me around ten to fifteen minutes, depending on the amount of people there are in the National Bookstore and in 7-Eleven.

  • 100 USD (4,421.50 PHP)
If ten dollars is a big deal, then this is even bigger. I've always wanted a Wacom Bamboo Splash (79 USD/3,491.41 PHP) for my digital art so I'm going to buy that first. I'm going to go clothes-shopping afterwards with the remaining money (21 USD/928.10 PHP). That'll probably take me an hour or two.

  • 1,000 USD (44,215.00 PHP)
Donate 452.54 USD (20,000 PHP) to charity, because I don't know what to do with all that money. I'd also use 226.27 USD (10,000 PHP) to make our home more comfortable for my parents. Another 226.27 USD (10,000 PHP) will be used to buy the games/software that I really want to play/use, like The Sims 3 and various Extension Packs. That leaves me with 95.37 USD (4,215 PHP), and I'll probably buy my sister an iPhone 4S. I think that'll take me a month to spend overall.
Am I doing this right? I think not lol.

$1 - Whoops that's been spent on a 4 pack of whatever my chosen caffeine source is for the week.

$10 - Whoops that was more caffeine sources and quick-breakfast items.

$100 - Whoops that's a stack of manga volumes and Pokemon cards.

$1000 - And then that's a laptop, a payment to my parents, and then more manga volumes and Pokemon cards. Maybe I'll save some of it. Whoops it's all gone.

I have impulse buy issues because I rarely have a lot of money to spare.
whoops
It wouldn't take me long haha! I am a spender not a saver.

$1- I'll just buy a bag of chips or candy from the snack machine at college as I do everyday.

$10- I'd buy lunch from Subway or some place close to school.

$100- I'd buy X&Y as I still haven't ordered them yet and whatever is left I'd probably buy more food XD (If you can't tell, I LOVE food)

$1000- I'd buy a top of the line laptop as mine is on its last bit of life and I am really getting close to needing a new one!

Oh, this is EXTREMELY relevant to my life, currently. I have $500 left in my account and $3300 coming in for next semester. I go on an extreme shopping spree once I spend, but most of the time I can just about hold out.

$1: get a 95 cent chip in my univ, can't think of anything else to do with that money.
$10: One meal and $10 is pretty much gone.
$100: Random games, gaming accessories.
$1000: Random electronics.
Uh I'm pretty reluctant to spend any money no matter what amount I have in the bank.

1 dollar - I mean I'll easily spend a dollar on like tic tacs or something pretty regularly.
(Spend in a day)

10 dollars - This is pretty much when I go out to eat. I try to get a soup or salad which is 10 or under. Besides that I don't really spend anything over 5 on a regular day.
(Spend in one to two weeks. Either gas or out to eat.)

100 dollars - If I'm spending a hundred dollars then it's a big day of some sort. The highest increment over 10 that I spend regularly is 20 and that's just for gas. Honestly I think I've thrown down a hundred only a handful of times and it was some event of some sort. I went to 6 flags recently and I think in total I spent maybe 50 on the ticket, parking, and some food because I made sure to get the most discounted ticket and parking and then pack food. THIS IS THE CHEAP LIFE I LEAD.
(To spend at one time it would take me a few months to willingly just drop 100. Spending 100 slowly altogether for me would take like four weeks depending on how much I'm driving.)

1000 dollars - I've only spent a good 1000 all at once twice in my life. Once was last summer with my ex we did a lot of activities so I spent about 1000 over the whole summer. Which to me was pretty good considering that was like 3 months worth of time. Then the second time was this summer my bf and I decided to get a hotel for a week and we both ended up spending almost 1000 each with the hotel and doing stupid things together. Def not the amount of money I like to spend in such little time, but it was definitely worth it.
(To spend at once is a VERY special occasion.)

$1: Seriously don't have idea... I would probably buy newspaper...?
$10: I would probably buy some DLC from PS store.
$100: Games
$1000: Moar games and probably consoles.

On the other hand, I would only spend them if I got them and had to spend them... otherwise I would most likely put everything on my account...
I'm pretty careful with my money.

If I could - all would probably be gone in one day [I'm careless with spending]

• $0001.00 - maybe a can of soda from the store
• $0010.00 - a Baconator Double meal from Wendy's
• $0100.00 - Pokemon plushies, or Pokemon booster box
• $1000.00 - I'd get a new modern laptop, and Pokemon plushies with what ever I have left over

$1, Goes into my platypus, maybe If I get enough of them I'll buy some petrol in like 3 months.
$10, Accidentally bought dinner, even though I said I was going to save it.
$100, It's been three days and I'm breaking out in cold sweats because I have so much money. Aaaand I need petrol again.
$1000, Just filled my car, bought enough train tickets for two months. Maybe I'll get a tattoo I deserve it. Man I should have brought a jumper, I'll just buy a new one. Oh I really need some monitors. Wow twos days that was really quick.

Recap! 3 months, 12 hours, 3 days, 2 days.

I'd spend a dollar pretty quickly. Less than a day. Probably on a snack since a dollar doesn't get you much.

I'd spend ten dollars within a few days. Again, probably on food. Still not much you can get for $10.

I'd spend one hundred within a month on (take a guess!) food again. Maybe some other things here and there in between like a movie or a book or some new piece of clothing like socks or something.

A thousand would take me a while to spend. Aside from a few trips I've taken where just the cost of flying and staying in a hotel already costs a lot, a thousand would take me many months. Maybe even a whole year. I'm pretty stingy with money even when I have extra saved. I just hate spending money on things that I don't use after a short while so I always hesitate to spend and thing "Am I really going to want this later?"

$1 - I would spend it on a bag of candy or a can of soda. Glad I can just walk to the corner store in 5 minutes to get it!

$10 - As a lot of others said, I would buy a meal/lunch. Maybe somewhere like A&W or McDonalds. Yeah, I'm a fan of fries. Don't judge me! :3

$100 - I would spend $100 on maybe some more 3DS games. I only have 1 and I'm already bored with it. This would be a good opportunity to get some fresh new games.

$1000 - I would probably spend this on a plane ticket to somewhere I would want to go. Or I can just get some good furniture, like a 53' TV.

Or.. I can just save all that money up and I would have $1111.

$1.00 - hard to think of what I'd spend it on, but probably a donut.
$10.00 - $7.99 on an all-you-can-eat buffet meal. Or maybe sushi, depending on if my friend wants to go with me.
$100.00 - uuugh.. Pokemon toys and figures, maybe? Other cute things? Pre-order Pokemon X or buy another video game? It would probably sit around for a little bit, though.
$1000.00 - trip to visit my boyfriend, no questions. That would probably eat up every last penny and require an extra hundred dollars or so.

1 USD- probably not very much, would probably use it to buy a candy bar xD

10 USD- Just spent that much to preorder Pokemon X and Y, not a big deal at all.

100 USD- This would probably take a bit longer to spend since I'm careful with money, it might take like1- 2 months for me to spend that much depending on what I need to buy( things like cat food and litter add up)

1,000 USD- I have no idea what I would use this for, I feel like it would have to be something important, or for a trip somewhere. If not that, I'd replace my laptop, though I may need even more than 1,000 dollars since I want another Mac Book and those aren't cheap.

  • 1 dollar: Those 25 cent candy machines. BETCHA NO ONE THOUGHT ABOUT THOSE CHEAP THINGS EH?
  • 10 dollars: Maybe a can of hairspray. Something to keep this mane in check.
  • 100 dollars: Probably a game I wanted. I spent a little over $100 to get my DSi when it first came out, and then a few months later around $120 to get my iPhone.
  • 1000 dollars: Oh honey, sweetie, deary, darling. Giving me this much would be the biggest mistake of anyone's life. It would immediately go to clothes, take-out, games, one of those laptops with that really awesome screen that can turn around and pop off and etc., a foot massager, a back massager, a hot tub, a girlfriend, a hooker, a new dog, a new cat, plastic surgery, a new TV, a new car, a new a new aa an enw w - *dies*

1 dollar - I can list maybe 5 things I could buy for a dollar at this point. I'd probably just stick it in my wallet and forget about it for the next couple of months.

10 dollars - Oh look, I forgot to bring something to eat at work. Maybe I'll go to Taco Time since that's the only place in the mall that isn't ridiculously overpriced.

100 dollars - Alright! That pays for my monthly bus pass and another trip to Taco Time.

1000 dollars - If this $1000 is just extra money I have lying around, I might actually go ahead and pre-order a PS4 or something. After that, I'd still probably stick the rest in my savings account, since I really don't like spending too much money, even when I know that I can.

1 USD = 6 TT
Which I can use to buy a bottle of juice.

10 USD = 60 TT
What I spend on a half hour driving lesson with my driving school.

100 USD = 600 TT
I'm just going to assume I have another 100 TT to add to this so I can buy two DS games. Namely Pokemon Black 2 and Fire Emblem Awakening which cost 350 TT each.

1000 USD = 6000 TT
I'll buy a 3DS XL to replace my current 3DS (1950 TT) and then put the rest in my savings account for groceries and other miscellaneous costs.

  • $1 USD - 0.64 GBP
  • Pfft, 64p isn't enough for a children's bus fare. Truth to be told, I'd just save it for spare change.
  • $10 USD - 6.42 GBP
£6.42 - Hmm... Maybe I could buy lunch? Otherwise, I'd most likely save it.
  • $100 USD - 64.21 GBP
£64.21 - Two £29.99 games cost £59.98 altogether, so at the very least, I'd use it to buy two games, then save the rest.
  • $100 USD - 642.14 GBP
£642.14 - I'm meant to be taking a driving test soon, so this'll definitely be saved.

I can easily spend at least £1 during the course of a day, same goes for £10 if it's for something I've been saving up for; of course, it's not uncommon for me to underestimate prices and spend more than I initially expected.
As for the latter two, I don't really know. The last time I spent £100 was when I bought a vita (all before class, but that's a story for another thread).

1 dollar Hmm.. a wilkos pack of disposable razors (10) for 12p, and then maybe some food like I think a bag of stir-fry veg is like 84p or something. Would last a little while.
10 dollars again.. groceries for a few days. I like my food.
100 dollars Assuming bills are paid already.. 38ish will go to my gym membership, and the rest? Hmm 40 for a train ticket to see my boyfriend and then 20 for that weekend to spend on whatever then.
1000 dollars Again, assuming bills are paid for already then maybe I'd buy one thing for myself, like a pair of shoes, and put the rest in the bank. I honestly wouldn't spend that money. If I needed to spend most of it then I would spend it on a trip back to Canada to see my family.

1 dollar - An Arizona cuz it's 99c tax included.
10 dollars - A meal, two meals, or hair product cuz I haven't bought hair product in a while.
100 dollars - If I had a bit more money I could buy a public transport pass, but if this is all I've got I think - oh I know I'd buy a microphone, been meaning to do that for a while.
1000 dollars - I'm finally buying a bike. Been meaning to do that for a while too.
