While the music is always the most important part of an album, the album art is considered part of the creative experience. One may listen to an album with the art solely in mind. It may also convey an intentional hidden meaning or commentary. Sometimes, album art can even make or break one's decision to listen to it. What are a couple of your favorite album artwork? Post them! Do you love vibrant and poppy album art, or would you rather prefer the more dark and gritty stuff?

Here are a couple of mine (some are a tad NSFW):-

"milkbar" which is the cover for Mogwai's album Mr Beast is probably my favorite cover ever, and here is why, as stated by the artist Amanda Church:

here are some things that i was thinking about for "milkbar". you know that scene in "aliens" (the second one i think) that bishop the robot is all messed up by the alien and lying on the ground? he's got this white milky stuff pouring out of him instead of blood, and as a kid watching it, that was so completely horrific and profoundly sad to me. i remember thinking too that it made a lot of sense for him to be lubricated by milk. "mr. beast" gave me the same feelings of horrible (un)sense but also sustaining beauty. that kinda got me thinking about what it means to be human and to be alive, which got me thinking about all those good things like birth (and milk) and death (and milky blood) and sex (and semen) and everything else. sorry to answer in such a long winded and convoluted way, that's just how i was thinking about it...

One of these are NSFW, so I'll put them in a spoiler.

Spoiler:

I like album cover art to be either very simple or be some kind of illustration. Unless it's sexy. Then I'll let it pass.

Well, my #1 favorite is just too graphic (Cannibal Corpse's Hammer Smashed Face LP cover and the cover for "Gore Obsessed" album) to share on Poke Community, but my #3 favorite isn't as graphic - Morbid Angel's "Covenant".

The open book, the candle, Morbid Angel's pentagram on one of the books.

I ♥ Foxes and Cats!! - art i drew myself
instead of 'Catch 'em All' for me would be "gotta Pet 'Em All"

Off the top of my head, thinking of what I have in my library...

Tyler, the Creator's "Wolf" is just a funny one to look at, I like it. "Origin of Symmetry", "Absolution", and "Black Holes & Revelations" from Muse are awesome, too.

Well, here ya go.

Spoiler:

I just like neat imagery, I suppose. I mean, I like album art with shots of the artists as well, but I like things that catch your eye and you just think, "What in the HELL is this? Let's buy it!"

Albums in order from left to right:
Because of the Times - Kings of Leon
De-Loused in the Comatorium - The Mars Volta
Pressure and Time - Rival Sons
Civilian - Wye Oak
Future Weather - The War On Drugs
