This is a thread to discuss the wonderful movies that Pixar studios has developed. Pixar is a highly acclaimed movie studio that have made some of the highest acclaimed movies. Masters of animation, they're often praised for their attention to detail, unpredictability and imaginative ideas, throwing you in a loop when watching their films.

You can discuss your favorite Pixar movies here. Ranging from the revolutionary Toy Story to the acclaimed sequel Monsters University. Their library is consistently diverse. Talk about your first Pixar movie as well! How about the latest Pixar movie that you watched? Or the latest Pixar movie in general!

I'm a big fan of Disney's animated film in general. (with Aladdin and to an extent, Howl's Moving Castle possibly being my favorite movies of all time) That of course includes Pixar. I started watching Pixar ever since Toy Story 1, and have been a fan of them ever since. Each movie of theirs (bar Cars 2...and Brave which I haven't watched) always leave a big impression on me. Their theme choices and creativity always inspired me. Every single one of the movies are just wonderful and magical. I love how they go for the unexpected and throw you through a big twist of imaginations, which does include their sequel. (Monsters University being a prime example. The ending left me in awe.) Of course there are exceptions, but they're differently styled and are wonderful in their own unique ways.

I watched Ratatouille for the first time ever yesterday from a few peoples' recommendation. I have often seen it being regarded as the best Pixar movie, or at least up there with the best like Toy Story and Monsters Inc. Indeed, I ended up being pleasantly surprised! The movie covered a wide variety of themes and had a deep, truthful meaning behind it. I won't spoil anything because, if you haven't watched it yet, do so NOW. It's absolutely fantastic.

My french class a few years ago watched Ratatouille, in the french dub, (It was a french class, soooo) and it was still amazing.

I still think Finding Nemo & Toy Story are the gold standard of Pixar movies. Both are films that transcend their boundaries, and become more than a movie to most people. They're cultural phenomenon. In fact, I think most Pixar movies end up that way. I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with Finding Dory in 2015. The hype for that one will be through the roof.

Imo the the 3 god tier Pixar movies are:

Toy Story 2
Monsters Inc
The Incredibles

I'm seriously considering putting Ratatouille in The Incredibles' place but I need to re watch it first before deciding on that. I haven't watched The Incredibles in a long time but it was in a league of its own.

Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Bug's Life, etc are still obviously amazing. Especially Finding Nemo. My only disappointment of that movie was the rather predictable and cliche ending, which is the only thing holding it down from the best. I'll need to rewatch it to see if it holds up well too!

Has anyone seen Monsters University? I did! I'll post my thoughts about it later, as I think the reviews are rather unfair to the movie. I'll just say that I was very, very pleasantly surprised with it!

Wall-E is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's great what they were able to do with it, which is basically (at least in the beginning) making a movie based on characters who don't speak and don't have normal emotive faces and conveying as much emotion and story as any film with live actors.

That said, I don't have a soft spot in my heart for other Pixar films like Ratatouille, Up, or A Bug's Life. I mean, I recognize them as great films and above average, but I just don't have the connection to them that other people do.

Oh, and Monsters University:
Spoiler:
I thought it was great, with enough surprises, especially the ending where they don't even make it through college. As much as that's not something you see happening anymore, it's still a good message that doesn't feel out or place and actually really suits Mike and Sully.
