There's going to be a Portal 3? I haven't heard of anything. If they are, you can be sure I'm going to get it. Despite I get headaches trying to figure it out, I love those test chambers.
They haven't officially announced it yet. They've leaked one of the Portal 3 gameplay trailers on Valve's YouTube channel last year in December, though, but they took it down shortly after. I haven't seen this trailer in-person, so I can't exactly say if it was real or if it was actually made-up. I did read a few articles claiming that it was true though, so I'm kind of leaning more towards believing them. d:

I feel like there is a joke here, but I'm missing it. Someone care to clue me in?
None of their games have 3 at the end and stop at 2. Examples:

Half life 2
Left 4 dead 2
Portal 2
Team fortress 2

I get it now! :D

Hopefully that pattern will change with Portal. Probably not, but one can only hope. Sorry, I don't have a vast knowledge on video games and I don't really pay attention on who makes what game. Besides, I haven't played any of the other games you mentioned, so there's my excuse.

I've never played Portal myself but I have watched a friend play Portal. It was really interesting to watch though at the time I felt that if I tried playing the game I would fail miserably haha. That was back when I didn't have an xBox so he brought his over to play but now that I have one myself maybe I'll get Portal 1 & 2 sometime. It's a pretty original concept I think so maybe it's something you should try out sometime Dipu.

Here's what I liked about Portal 2 (can't speak for Portal as I never played it). It was highly original, and no other game has made me feel smarter, or dumber. It takes a while to get used to, but they set up the game so well, that it takes you through and points out the various things you can do with the portals. Every level is set up to test something new that can be used in later levels. You don't even realize how much you understand the game, until you watch someone else struggle their way through the first few levels.

Humor wise, this was one of the funniest games I have ever played. This game really has it's own charm and wit that really makes it a worthwhile play. Here's a quote that I (somewhat) remember from co-op. "In order to get ready for human testing again, I went through some old suggestion cards. You want to know what the number one suggestion was? Less deadly tests. That's absurd, how do they know if the tests are deadly if they're still alive to write the suggestion?" It might be funnier in the game, but it's full of those kind of witty sentences.

I don't mean to advertise, but I think it's a worthwhile play. I mean, it's a family-friendly puzzle game that became extremely popular in a realm full of bloody, violent fps games. That has to say something.

It's $30 right now, but it'll go on sale. Wait until it's more than a 50% price drop, I think I've seen 75% before. I got Portal for free in a bundle, but paid $6.79 for Portal 2 which might be like an 80% off sale + tax? Yep seems right (cuz Canada things). These sales come all the time, so it'll - like possibly a Black Friday sale, or a Christmas one. Don't remember if there's a Halloween sale.

I like Portal 2 a lot, and that's coming from someone who's not massively into video games (whether they be PC- or console-based). Based entirely on preconceptions, I thought it was some derange version of an FPS game, but it's a lot cleverer than that and has a quite the steep learning curve to boot. I'm not entirely ashamed to admit that I ended up watching LPs of the final few levels in order to complete the game! :P (Having said that, I need a strategy guide or something similar to complete most games... even Pokemon!)

When I played Portal 2, I also used LP videos as well.. and in most cases whenever I play Pokémon games, I use a strategy guide, despite there being walkthroughs on the internet of these games.

Never played Portal 2 ever. Heard it's a fun game but I'm so cheap though. I ain't spending $30 on a game. xD

Portal was originally part of Valve's orange box but was successful enough to branch into its own series, in other words it wasn't a standalone game initially. Therefore I'd recommend getting Portal in a bundle.

For portal 2 wait for something like steam sales or if you're getting it for consoles wait until there's a good deal.

Yeah, it's a good game. I'm proud to say that I never looked up a guide to complete it. I did it all on my own. I wanted to look some stuff up, oh how I WANTED to look stuff up. Three headaches and rage-quits later, it was complete. Plus they throw in a special something at the end that totally makes the game worth it.
