Pokémon have attacks and Pokémon get hit by attacks and items heal damage done by Pokémon attacks, but a Pokémon could attack a human so I believe that potions and revives even max revives should have the capability of being used on a human and working, especially because Pokémon are a lot stronger than humans.

what's your take? will revives and max revives and potions and stuff work on humans? because we need to be healed from Pokémon attacks too.

I RP that they do work (sometimes even a Pokémon will use a max revive on me, like Reshiram using one on me after a Zekrom uses Bolt Strike)

but I wanna hear from all of you on this...

Nope. :P

Aside from the fact that pokemon have a different biology from humans, which has been pointed out that they could even be aliens, medicine is always designed for specific things. Just be thankful they didn't make it so realistic that each type or genus of pokemon needs different medicines. :P
If you add me, please message me so I can reciprocate. No, garbage does not make a cute Pokemon, and it smells funny.

Just like most people here, I don't think it would. d: Humans would react differently if medicines such as revives, full restores, potions, and antidotes were ever used on them, as they simply weren't made for them. These kind of items were carefully designed specifically for Pokémon, and if they were ever used on a person, it would most likely do them more harm than good. We may be able to consume some things without any issues though (like berry juice, which is perfectly fine since they're made out of berries--fruits of the Pokémon world), but they probably won't be much of a benefit to us as they would to Pokémon.

Personally, I wouldn't eat anything that were made for Pokémon. That'd be equivalent to consuming pet food, which, in my opinion, is quite disgusting. xD

Brock tastes the food he makes for his pokémon though ;) But maybe that's not quite the same as factory processed pokémon food, haha.

Well it's more witchcraft-related than biology. You'd first want to know if there's some kind of thing called "magic".
Magic? You mean that potions and stuff work a bit too well to be realistic, or?

I don't think that they would. We don't take the same medicines as our pets do in real life so to me the same concept would apply if Pokemon were real. In fact they would probably make humans very sick if not kill them when consumed.
Good explanation, imo!

But something like an ointment for treating wounds could work on dogs as well as humans. Potion is something like that, isn't it? A spray healing wounds. But the argument of pokémon being very different from humans and animals alike, possibly being aliens or from a different dimension or something, it's easier to suggest that the items we buy and treat our pokémon with wouldn't work on humans.

When I first came to this thread, I was thinking "yeah, why wouldn't they work?" but the replies here convinced me otherwise. ^^

Pokemon medicine would probably be a hell of a lot stronger than human medicine in order to heal creatures that are a hell of a lot stronger than humans. Using a Potion on a human wound would be like giving someone stitches for a paper cut. We don't have bodies made for brutal fighting so we don't need medicine to heal those kinds of wounds.

Any sort of medicine that heals a status problem or replenishes PP would not have any notable effect on humans, so I'm not sure we'd be attempting to use those in the first place.

Looking at potions and revives though, it would depend on how exactly they're made if they'd have any effect on humans or not. I'm going to assume that spraying a potion onto one's skin wouldn't have quite the effect on us as it would our Pokemon, but I've always believed that revives are much like smelling salts, and I wouldn't be surprised if it worked on us too if we'd passed out or something.

That being said, even if these sort of things did work on humans, I don't think I'd bother trying any of them. I mean, I wouldn't be taking any of my pet's medicine even if it was safe, so why would I do it with my Pokemon's?

Yeah, why not? RPGs has Reviving items and Potions that work on characters who are human so why not Pokemon items?

Yes, you must understand that the fact that Pokemon don't actually die when their health points hit zero, they actually faint. So if a human actually faint, it actually means that their life points actually hit zero, making them unconscious. But if we use a revive item, it might actually wake the person up, just like how it revives the Pokemon, in this case, its actually waking up the Pokemon as well, since Pokemon don't actually die, but faint.

As for potions, I remember from somewhere that Potions is some kind of spray, so I think it can actually work on humans as well.

Pokemon can die as well, as proven by the Lavender Town happenings. When they actually die, revive can't be used.

potions would definately work because in the anime, they spray the potion on the pokemon on their hurt parts, so all you have to do is spray it on you and boom youre healed from it. but revives on the other hand are different. im not exactly sure how revives are used in the anime, but i dont think you just touch them with it.

Well, so far we've never seen revives in the anime at all. As they're probably made of gold they must be a rare sight.

I don't know how Potions work for humans. From what I see Potions must be some sort of a disguised energy drink with food coloring stirred in if it was to work for humans. As for the revive, it should be edible. The gold could be the wrapping around it (like gold leaf), and the inside is probably a part of an energy drink mixed with caffeine.

Chocolate can be fatal to dogs. Cheese isn't actually that good for mice. But we still eat both of these foods without any problems. I think it has to do with how their immune system works. Eating a berry won't instantly make a human faster. Or stronger. Or have more defense. Besides, their potions and revives could contain ingredients that we're not supposed to eat. Then again, if you can use this on huge legendaries like Zekrom and Suicune, how can it not work on someone a few times smaller? It's a real mystery but for the time being, I'll just say that it probably doesn't work the same way. :[
