I heard that most fairies and angels could float in the air (and therefore wouldn't be affected by earthquakes and such), but the only fairies that are immune to ground are Togetic and Togekiss. I just wonder why it isn't the case for the rest of the Fairy-types. Discuss your thoughts and opinions!

Remember that physical traits/abilities =/= battle prowess in some cases. Remember that Beedrill, Venomoth, Dustox and Volcarona don't have the Flying type despite the fact that they have wings and are mostly seen flying. Also, you seem to have forgotten that Swirlix does have feet, though they aren't visible in its Sugimori art.

Well I don't think Fairy type and mythical fairies are exactly parallel.
I think the simple reason why fairies don't have ground immunity is because most are depicted as grounded, except for Togekiss and Togetic. Or, Hm.. Klefki isn't grounded, is it? I suppose ground immunity would make sense then, but some other Pokemon appear to be floating and don't have immunity.. Maybe the reason is type effectiveness balancing.

The very first Fairy types that came to mind were Marill and Snubbull, and I don't think it would make much sense if these two were to be given Levitate, just because of their re-assignment as part-Fairy type Pokemon. And I have to agree with Batty in that what we may think of as fairies and those Pokemon that are classified as them aren't exactly the same (again, using the example of Marill and Snubbull).

Now if a Fairy-type Pokemon is depicted as in the air, then there's definitely an argument for them to have Levitate if they aren't part-Flying, but I also think this should go for other Pokemon too, not just Fairies.

That depends on what you put in the meaning of the word "fairy" :3 If you think of flying tiny girls with wings, they certainly do fly. But it's pretty clear that that's not what Fairy in pokémon means. Fairy, judging from the range between Klefki and stuff like Jigglypuff or even Snubbull, seems to rather mean magical cute little elf like creatures. Not magical like the Psychic type, but a more fairy tale kind of magical.

That's why I don't think it would be necessary to make all Fairy types levitate, in battle or not. Sylveon or Mawile probably couldn't levitate even if they tried :3

Well, in certain mythologies, we have a few kind of fairies that don't necessarily fly, such as nymphs, satyrs, etc. Due to that, it kind of makes sense to not have all fairy-type Pokémon levitate. If all fairy Pokémon stayed off the ground, then that would've given them another immunity in addition to dragon. Wouldn't that have made them a little overpowered? xD"

In my opinion, the only thing that fairy-types need is a cute- or beautiful-looking appearance. Fairies are not meant to look like monsters, y'know? Those who look monstrous could be categorized as some other type, such as dark, normal, and ghost.

On a similar note, I wondered for a little while as to why Fairy wasn't weak against Ghost- and Rock-type attacks, because they were the kind I could picture being beaten easily by those types.

But yeah, not all of the Fairy-types we have float in the air, though many of them look like it in their battle animations.

Same goes for other non-Fairy Pokemon. Magnemite continues to be cursed with anti-levitation despite the fact it clearly is levitating. Or Geodude. Stuff like this just doesn't translate into actual abilities for every Pokemon.
