Not sure if this goes here, but either way, it can be moved to where it should be.

I don't see a thread here about this here, so I feel the need to warn everyone about this. There is an exploit for online X and Y Wi-Fi battles going around called the Pokemon Battle Analyzer:

People use this by setting their PC up as a hotspot to connect their game to and intercept data from it, and the second you accept their battle, this program would load your entire party, what moves they have, hold items, IVs, and more, including any switch-outs and exactly what move you choose so they know just how to counter it.

I just wanted to make everyone aware that people could be using this online. so be wary. In my opinion, this completely ruins the competitive nature of online battles, as people could be using this program, and we'd never even know it. Hopefully, this program gets known enough for the developers to see, and make some sort of patch to encrypt the data and block the exploit from working. Although someone on the thread I found is making a counter to the program, acting as a jammer, which to the opponent, would show you making different options each second.

I just hate that some people hack the game and ruin things for everyone. And right after I finished a team to try out competitively for the first time... :/

Just another reason to use battle simulators. Hopefully Nintendo or whoever will find a way to prevent it, though. This reminds me of that time when some people were thinking about RNG abusing battles by predicting when critical hits, full paralysis, etc. (hax) happened, but that certainly would have a more positive effect than this, haha.

Wow, people are drinking Haterade by the gallon these days... This completely ruins the experience for the rest of us because people don't want to win battles the right way. People who use this program obviously don't know how to battle, excuse me for saying so. Seriously, this is ridiculous.

I found out about this yesterday from a fellow TC'er and almost blew my top off. If anyone's got a pokemon.com account, I highly encourage you to send a polite and legible letter to Pokemon support about this and encourage them to do what they can to solve this problem. I CAN tell you that they are (some of them, anyway) aware of the program and they're looking into it. Because they responded back to my support request within a few hours.

Thank you for contacting Pokémon Support! Thank you for this report. We are sending this over to the proper department so that it can be investigated. You may or may not hear another direct response regarding this report.

Thank you for playing Pokémon!

Sincerely,
Pokémon Support Team

*sigh* Of course, there just has to be some twats who just can't battle for the fun of it. Sure, everyone, including myself, likes to win, but is it really necessary to make a program like that?

For hackers and cheaters, yeah... Just a few days ago they announced an updated battle spot for doubles to make it VGC rules so that we can practice on it. Then this comes out. Ugh. So basically, unless I want to stall out my timer when selecting moves, I'm gonna get hard countered if some idiot showed up with this thing. And even then, they'll know /everything/ about my team so I'd get countered anyway. What's the point of practicing when your opponent is gonna cheat? Ugh.

Even if TPCi can't do anything legally, I think they can get Gamefreak or whoever's in charge of updating the game (like that save bug) to scramble up GTS or something, effectively wiping out the hackers' efforts, and encrypt GTS. We do know that they're aware of this, we do know that they're working on it (however slow they may be) so there could be results in the future.

... and if anyone wants proof of their response, I can post it, but I'm lazy so don't ask.

There's actually a counter program another hacker built that's already out. The problem is that both programs work the same exact way instacheck does. And since a LOT of people couldn't get instacheck to work in the first place, that puts all of us at a disadvantage. Admirable effort by the counter-hacker but useless for the majority of us.

Ugghh, desperate times calls for desperate measures, so for the sake of winning they're gonna use a program like that? While I currently have a 10 game losing streak, it's still not gonna convince me to use something like that.

Anyway, can I take that as a reason everytime my opponent predicts some ofmy unusual sets?

hahahahaha i find this funny. anyone who uses a program like this obviously pretty freaking stupid for downloading it to begin with. i wouldn't be surprised if their computers have some sort of virus from it. man what is this world coming to? everyone's relying to much on machines. last thing we need is bunch of HAL9000s having wifi pokemon battles.

That would both hilarious and terrifying XD

I've sent an e-mail to Pokémon support about this cheating program. Hopefully if enough people talk about it and send e-mails the problem will get fixed.

I'll bet no one here but Keiran has noticed but ratings on battle spot are down and have been for about two days. Coincidence? I think not. Anyhow, the 'uns in charge are definitely aware of it and working on it. I had forgotten but one of the staff members for Play! Pokemon has a NB account and he probably got flooded. Heh!

Yeah I believe the disabling of rating battles are intentional on nintendo's part, as Nugget Bridge and a bunch of other sites contacted them. Hopefully there's a fix to this that can be worked on.

nice Space Odyssey reference. xD

i really hope something is done about this, as now i don't want to battle online out of suspicion the other person is using the program. i'll just stick with local battles until a perfect fix/counter is made. :/

Why would anyone even go the effort of making this? Are people seriously that desperate to win even if they have a succinct lack of battling ability?

Seriously, pokemon is a hobby. Someone is taking it far too seriously if they are making stuff like this.

Battle analyzer? More like Virgin Analyzer.

Well isn't this depressing. I doubt the majority of people are using this program based on what I've seen on the random WiFi battles that I've had, but it's still upsetting to know that people would sink this low just to win a random battle. Hopefully Nintendo is working on this.

This is quite distressing for me. I was already having trouble with the gen 6 meta game due to the fact that all the teams I test on showdown seem to preform fairly badly, and this certainly won't improve my experiences with the meta game. I'll have quite a bit of difficulty convincing myself to get started on breeding and ev training with this sort of thing going around.

Well well, this sure explains a lot... Everytime I'm about to win, the opponent suddenly takes a really long time to make their move, and BAM perfect counter. -.-

Well Rated Battles are still down, looks like Nintendo is working to fix the issue(yay!), still more time for me to practice before I start battling in rated!

Anyway, while lurking around some other sites, I found this:

It doesn't make sense, but it sure cracked me up! lol

Yes! Battle analyzer is dead dead dead dead! Still no rated battles yet, but at least it's dead! Too bad for instacheck though, but the sacrifice was necessary.

I just heard about that too. They've put out a new patch that should make Battle Analyzer not work. Yay!

But what's Instacheck?

Instacheck is a pokemon checker, Battle Analyzer came about as a modded version of Instacheck, which can use a wireless connection to check Pokemon that were about to be traded, to see if someone was scamming his partner.

RIP Virgin Analyzer.

I've also just downloaded the patch. It's good to know that Battle Analyzer is finally dead, I can battle online safely now. xD

I don't know about Instacheck, whether it was a good or evil program, but that's gone too.
