    -OOC/SU Thread-

    Introduction:

    The group of professors sat around their table, eyebrows furrowed as they contemplated what was happening. Juniper gazed lazily out the window, Birch ran his fingers gently over his forehead and Elm sat skittishly next to Rowan who's furrowed brow and closed eyes seemed to be exuding an aura of calm. Professor Oak was the only one standing, he seemed troubled, his hand idly running through his hair as he removed and placed his worn lab coat on a nearby chair.

    There was a deadly silence within the air conditioned room in Professor Rowan's laboratory. Sinnoh was a fairly cold region on its own, however a recent and persistent heat wave coupled with the amount of people in the room made the air conditioning necessary even though it was the dead of night outside. Suddenly the door was hastily pushed open and Professor Sycamore burst into the room causing everyone else to suddenly jump to attention. Clearly excited, Sycamore sat quickly into the chair where Oak had hung his coat. The group remained silent for a few moments awaiting a report, before Rowan decided to interrupt it.

    "So then... it's as they say? We finally have confirmation, they had one?" His voice was calm and clear as always. Sycamore clapped his hand together while responding. "Yes... it was a mega ring, no doubt about it. The keystone was there, clear as day. I'd recognise it anywhere." The group sat forward as a kinder and more feminine voice spoke up.

    "Surely there's some sort of mistake professor? Those remains were hundreds of years old... weren't they? You discovered the mega ring only a few years ago. Are you sure it wasn't just the keystone alone that this fossil possessed?" Juniper asked. However her attempts at finding a more reasonable solution were quickly shot down as Sycamore responded. "I'd recognise it anywhere Juniper... don't you think I would have already taught about other possibilities?! It was a mega ring. A human being from over eight hundred years ago was in possession of a mega ring! It was encased in the tomb, unopened for centuries... the ring tightly clasped around the damned corpses wrist!" For a brief moment, the shock that followed such an announcement rendered the group silent before Sycamore continued.

    "I think we might have some explanation as to why they had it aswell." Suddenly the room seemed to jolt to life, Birch looked up with intrigue, Elm calmed himself down, Junipers eyes widened... even Rowan peeked an eye in the young Professor Sycamore's direction as he pulled a very large and very old looking book from his rucksack. The group of researchers gathered around as Sycamore dropped the heavy text on the central table. Elm quickly flicked through the first few pages, "It's written in ancient unknown script... can you read this?" He asked this, only for Sycamore to smile and nod. "I've had a look at the first two pages... and I believe this book may hold the answers to this strange circumstance we find ourselves in."

    Oak stared in wonder at the book. "So the answers are right here? By the plates of Arceus... how has it taken us so long to find such a thing?" Birch spoke for the first time that evening as a response. "It's not the time to think about that... at least not yet old friend. Go on Sycamore! Start reading, alright?" Rowan chuckled heartily. "Well look at all of you suddenly so chipper... let's hope this is what we've been searching for." Juniper smiled at the sudden uplifting mood and simply nodded at Sycamore to begin.

    Opening the first page of the tome, Professor Sycamore spoke once again. "It's an odd text, a bit out of order but not so much that we can't establish a definite timeline of events. It appears to be told from the perspective of multiple people all of whom I can only assume are in some way tied to our little mystery." Birch taps his foot impatiently. "Alright Sycamore we get it... we've been working weeks straight trying to figure this situation out so can you please get on with the book?" Sycamore shoots his friend a stern glare but shrugs his shoulders and gives in regardless.

    "Alright then... in that case, I believe the best place to start would probably be at the beginning..."

    Setting:

    This RP will be set in the ancient times that the book describes and the plot will follow the story it tells. The world of eight hundred years ago is a very different one to the pokémon world we all know and love. Such advanced technology as pokéballs, the pokédex, healing items such as potions and antidotes, the classification of "Pokémon Trainer", none of these things exist... as such neither do the pokémon born as a result of these advances (Genesect, The porygon line and Mewtwo).

    Though the role of a "Pokémon Trainer" does not exist and someone actually having a pokémon is a very rare thing indeed, there are still those who fight alongside pokémon in battles. These people have been named by the general population as "Knights" and they fight alongside pokémon with nothing but their trust and belief in the powerful beasts as partners and friends. Knights are few and far between however as most people are terrified of pokémon... and for good reason too. The abundance of wild pokémon in this time period makes things such as food sources and habitats scarce and this shows as the pokémon are much more violent, aggressive and territorial when compared to their modern day counterparts as a result. Most all pokémon will not hesitate to attack a human on sight, be it out of mistrust, defense of their territory or even... to prey on the human as a food source.

    This RP will take place in the eight hundred year old Sinnoh region, where the ancient tome was discovered in the modern World. While the layout of the region has not changed the only relevant locations remaining are the lake guardians caves, the spear pillar and Hearthome city. Hearthome city and the spear pillar in themselves are much different than they are in modern times, the spear pillar being in near perfect condition as opposed to it's currently ruined state and hearthome city being MUCH bigger than it currently is, acting as the capital of the Sinnoh kingdom it is a massive walled city, completely devoid of all pokémon apart from the handful that are partnered with the kingdoms known knights.

    Story:

    "To the future generations of this World... those of you whom shall come to read my words. I issue you a warning from a past that you created."

    The final words of a civilization from eight hundred years in the past, those final words are the single standalone sentence that introduce a group of inquisitive professors to an ancient tome.

    In the kingdom of Sinnoh, roughly eight hundred years in the past, the land was ruled by a wise and just king, a man loved by his people who went by the name of Noheral Singard. Singard ruled with a fair and just hand, he was aswell as a king, what the people referred to as a knight. A human whom fought alongside a pokémon for whatever purposes they so desired. He, alongside the other knights of Sinnoh, fought bravely to defend the walled capital of Hearthome from any attacks made upon it, be they from groups of rogue knights, opposing kingdoms, or hordes of wild pokémon. The people adored their king, for he was charismatic, kind and willing to fight alongside the loyal knights whom sided with him and the royal family.

    It was upon a cold and windy night however, that the king was disappeared from his throne. None had any idea how he had left so suddenly or where he was going. Whatever the reason had been however, it had been of a severe enough nature that the king himself left upon his partnered salamence in the middle of the night, unbeknownst to his subjects.

    Within a day of information regarding the kings absence being released into the city, the people were thrown into disorder. Thy were confused as to why their ruler had abandoned them so. The royal family of Singard was thrown into despair aswell as they desperately sought the reasons behind their king and family members leaving them. It wasn't until nearly a week after his disappearance that any progress was made in regards to the knowledge of the kings location. Upon a second and extremely thorough search of the kings own study, the queen, Elizabeth Singard herself, discovered a secret compartment hidden underneath the floorboards. This compartment upon being removed and examined was forged from an incredibly powerful metal, one that the people of that time had never seen before. The craftsmanship was incredibly intricate, the box opening at ones touch as if powered by some form of magic or incredibly advanced technology... the box itself however was not what interested the royal family, no what the box contained was much more intriguing.

    Inside the box was a collection of oddly shaped bracelets, each embedded with an odd gem and paired with a second, separate gem of varying colors when compared to the other gems like it. Each pair of bracelet and gem was labeled with a name written on a hastily ripped scrap of paper in the kings own handwriting. Finally, attached to the top of the box was a hastily scrawled note, once again written by the kings own hand.

    "A trinket for a knight,

    A gem for their partner,

    You must find them, only they can save us all... these trinkets come from times yet to be seen and they are here by my own mistake.

    The furthest Northern point of our Kingdom, there is a temple of times before our own. You must send them their, it is their they will learn the truth.

    They are not special... but the pokémon who they have befriended can unlock the power of these stones, so I pray to whomever will listen that they can survive.

    Arceus help them... they are all that is left of our kingdoms hope.

    Arceus help us all... for what I have done may mean the end of this world.

    ~ King Noheral Singard I

    A deathly silence fell over the court of the king as this letter was read for them less than an hour after it being found. They were confused... scared, their king had been the strongest man they had ever know. Yet here he begged for help. They had no other choice, those listed in the letter would be found and brought to the castle immediately no matter what the cost and, upon arrival, they would be gifted the bracelet and set forth towards the legendary temple that sat in the coldest and deadliest reaches of their kingdom.

    This is where our story begins.

    You:

    Your character in the RP will be one of the knights mentioned in the kings letter and your starting post will involve your character being escorted in whatever way you see fit to the throne room of Hearthome castle to meet the queen of Sinnoh herself.

    Though you don't know it yet, you have been selected by her majesty the queen (and technically the king) to be a part of the kings search party. You will be gifted a mega ring and mega stone for your partner pokémon, this potential for your partners mega evolution also happens to be the only reason you have been picked for the search party... even though nobody except the king himself knows that.

    To put it swiftly and bluntly, you are a knight with a pokémon partner, for reasons unknown you have been escorted to Hearthome castle to be a part of the kings search party regardless of your circumstance, you will be gifted with a strange trinket that you do not recognise and your partner will be given an odd stone to hold onto, both of which you are called upon to defend with both you and your partners lives.

    As a guideline, your character will have no more than one pokémon throughout the entire RP, however your character will be able to fight alongside this pokémon using weapons, a special pokémon brand of "magic" or through any other realistic means that you can think of.

    "Magic":

    Think of this as a simple added concept to make this RP feel an extra bit different from the average pokémon RP.

    Based on the concept that all living being, human and pokémon came from Arceus and may have in turn come from Mew, certain rare humans have access to a special ability known by the people as "Magic". This ability stems from a humans bond with their pokémon and can only be used when human and pokémon are completely in sync with one another.

    Magic, in basic terms, is the ability to use a single of ones pokémons moves, while one is completely human. For example, if a magic user had a partner who was a Lucario and the magic user had a strong enough bond with that pokémon, then the magic user may be able to preform his or her own, as an example, aura sphere.

    To keep characters who can use this ability balanced there are a few rules involved with magics use:

    1: While a character does not need to know the move right away, magic users may only learn one move and one move only, once that move is learned there's no going back or changing.

    2:Magic users can use their moves without any prior prepping, but excessive use of magic will lead to exhaustion at quite a rapid pace.

    3: Magic users must have their hands free at all times and as such cannot use any other form of weapon.

    Premise and Layout:

    This RP is built around three major concepts:

    1: The idea of mega rings and mega evolution arriving in an ancient setting through methods that will not be revealed until much later.

    2: The idea of a World where humans do not command their pokémon, but actually use their own skills and weaponry to fight alongside them. Also a world where pokémon rarely work with humans and nobody has more than one if any.

    3: A type of "two stories at once" format, focusing around the story in the past written by the players and the story of the professors, which takes place in the modern day where the professors read the ancient tome (the formerly mentioned past story) and give their reactions and assumptions to it in, these "professor posts" will be written by myself (and maybe a few other RPers in a joint post format if anybody feels they'd be dedicated enough to do that) and will serve the purpose of summarizing the story so far and maybe hinting at a few things that MAY happen in the future, a few paths characters could have or could still take throughout the course of the RP, etc. etc.

    The RP won't be laid out any different to any other RP mind you, so don't get worried. Players will post normally until I make an OOC announcement stating that the next "professor post" (AKA a general summary and slightly amusing reaction to the events of the RP so far) will be going up soon. When I announce these it would be best if possible to finish up any conversations/events that your character may be involved in before the professor post is complete, however this is more to make things easier on me and as such it isn't really necessary.

    Rules:

    1: No bunnying or godmodding of ANY kind is accepted unless permission is given by the other player.

    2: Your character has NO knowledge of the future and they most likely NEVER will until much MUCH later. Please remember that. Oh and by the way, the password you're probably looking for is... not hidden in this rule, sorry.

    3:I expect everyone to be civil, both OOC and IC. IC this means that you should obey the pokécommunity rules, same goes for the OOC but I also expect you to be polite. Any rudeness or pointless arguments in the OOC will be dealt with swiftly. If there's a problem, you tell me.

    4: Try to post somewhat often, I know people are busy sometimes and if you have to go away for a while then I understand, but please at the very least try to get a post in every 3-4 days minimum. It's not too much to ask now is it?

    5: Pokémon levels are to be awarded when the player sees fit, to keep things simple... up until level fifty your pokémon may level up after every battle within which they contribute to knocking out a pokémon. From then until level seventy-five it will take two battles and from then onwards it will take three. (Though it is highly doubtful your pokémon will reach that level if the RP reaches its ending like I plan for it to.)

    6: Unless it is taken you may choose any pokémon with the potential to mega-evolve as your partner... except for Mewtwo. He will not be a possible choice for anyone at all as he technically does not exist at the time when the RP is set. In terms of Mega Charizard, one person will be allowed to choose one form of charizard, X or Y, the other form will be completely absent from the RP unfortunately.

    7: Mega evolution will NOT be available from the moment your character receives their mega ring and mega stone. After a certain point in the RP passes, I will allow you to have your characters "discover" the purpose of the mega ring and how to use mega-evolution in their own time. One must also remember that mega-evolution requires a powerful bond between pokémon and human... so in the current setting it may take a while before your character learns to use it proficiently.

    8: Try to have fun! If things don't seem to be fun for you while playing then don't just drop out or something silly either. Tell me about it and we might be able to come up with some new, even more fun ideas together. The password coincidentally is; Pokémon and the past are fun! So you know, there's that.

    The lab of Professor Rowan

    Professors of the Pokémon World

    Sycamore glanced wearily at the books old pages as he finished reading its introduction, the next page was a list of characters... those involved with the situation at hand no doubt as each possessed a pokémon capable of mega-evolution. The young professor was left at a loss for words. Had the books first line been addressing he and his colleagues directly? What did it mean by "a past you created"?

    The room fell to a deadly silence as Sycamore was not the only intellectual in the room who now contemplated the current situation. It took a few moments but eventually it was Rowan who broke the lack of communication, scratching his head gently as he leaned back in his chair the old professor spoke. "I think I read an old text myself once... a book of ancient history. The king... this documented list of characters near the beginning, the few who had any significance may have actually existed... though this is the first time I've ever heard of them all being part of the same tale." Oak ran a tired old hand through his hair before replying. "It mentions a girl named Rowan... could she be a relation of yours professors?" Rowans eyes shone with memory for a brief moment. "Yes I was about to mention that actually... she's an ancestor of mine if I recall correctly, the Rowan family has a rich history in this region, though I can't see how any ancestor of mine was caught up in this mess..."

    At the other side of the room a different conversation was taking place between Juniper and Birch. "What do you make of it Birch? These "knights"... ever heard anything about them?" The fairly portly man sighed and shook his head. "As far as I can remember we didn't have them back in Hoenn. What about you?" Juniper nodded gently before replying. "I remember reading something about them somewhere... they based their relationships with pokémon on friendship and trust alone, no pokéballs, in alot of ways they remind me of the pokémon rangers of today and their relationships with their partners." Birch smiled brightly. "Aye, that's a good comparison, perhaps these knights of the past were the basis of the ranger union of this modern day and age."

    Sycamore held his hands up and called for quiet until the conversation stopped. "Alright everyone... we've read for five minutes and already things are looking unbelievable... as we have reason to believe that this book was not just a journal or memento... but a message to us, here, now, in the present." Birch yawned loudly. "Yes Sycamore... we all understand that. But enough alright? If it's a message from the past then it's our duty to-" "Read it, I know." Sycamore interrupted.

    "In that case... let's get right to business." Sycamore clapped his hands together and returned his attention to the ancient tome.

    The Distant Past

    The Walled City of Hearthome ~ Castle Singard Throne Room

    Ariana Kaizu Rowan

    The guards were at the very least, polite with her. If for no other reason than she was considered a noble... and perhaps some courtesy was attributed to her beauty as she was escorted to the vaguely familiar throne room of the Singard families castle. The large doors were made of the finest wood in the kingdom and were positioned in such a way that the present royal (whom would sit upon the throne that lay beyond the doors) could easily see all those who would enter.

    The man whom usually fulfilled this seated role was the king of Sinnoh... however in his absence the seat was now filled by his wife, Queen Elizabeth Singard. In place of her husband she had been appointed the position of leading monarch, an honor usually given to an absent kings children. However before his sudden decision to vanish, the king had left no heirs. Walking the hallway solemnly, an armed guard at either side and a confused magikarp clutched tightly to her chest, Ariana tried to maintain her high standing posture. Her black dress sweeping gently on the ground behind her as she moved forward. The long room made this respectful stride difficult to maintain however... as she hadn't remembered just how long a room the throne room was.

    Still, this walk gave her time to appreciate the rooms decor more than she normally would have been able to and she gazed idly around as she walked. The walls were made of the finest carved marble, lined with pillars and low hanging banners, deep blue in color with a light pink trim, they bore the Singard coat of arms, a large and powerful shield with the image of a beautiful and lustrous pearl and, within the pearl itself, a small diamond like shape.

    After what seemed like an age, Ariana found herself standing before the queen. She placed a hand to her chest and used the other to lift her skirt gently in a curtsy as a sign of respect to royal who sat before her. "Your majesty." She said politely as she finished. The queen, however gave no verbal response, she simply gazed upon Arianas face sadly before nodding to the guards. Roughly and without warning they grasped Arianas shoulders and pushed her to her knees. Surprised but not brave enough to shout out against such treatment, one of the guards lowered himself to one knee and spoke to her.

    "My apologies, m'lady. But 'tis her majesties orders. You and the others being summoned are to wait on yer knees 'till everyone is present." Ariana raised a curious eyebrow at this. "Others? There are others being brought here?" But the guard didn't answer, he simply stood and left with his partner to stand by the queens throne as Ariana remained kneeling. She didn't dare raise her voice but she shot a worry filled look at the guard whom had just spoken to her, desperate for some sort of assistance or explanation.

    These plea filled stares were short lived however as the young noblewoman heard a loud creaking noise behind her. Jumping slightly in surprise and turning her head to peer at its source, Ariana watched as the large entrance doors of the throne room began to open once again.

    Patrick - Can you just please stop that?

    He was in good spirits in fact. Of course when his warhammer had been taken he had almost fought against the guards, but he had calmed down now. He knew they would only scratch her up and he would have to spend hours polishing her and making sure that she shined once more. Of course they wouldn't worry about that, just toss her in a heap with weapons that had been banged and chipped over the years and covered with grime. Sure, go ahead, it was no big deal, they were just ruining a perfectly fine weapon that if sold along with all the others in their armory would no doubt be sold for three times the price.

    Of course that was nothing when the guards had come and Combusken had almost kicked off their very heads. In fact the fire type still looked pissed, glaring at the guards in a way, not because he was being man handled. Pat knew the mon well enough, and if he had to guess it was because the fire chicken had missed his lunch and was getting rather hungry at this point. He couldn't blame him, the call had been so sudden that Pat wondered if the bird would just walk on out of the meeting to go find something to eat if he wanted to. Heh, the bird probably would after all. If anything he would probably blame the queen and light up her dress.

    Finally the doors were pulled open and Pat was led in, the fire type behind him glancing about with an uninterested glance. Pat smiled widely at the queen and took to a knee, "Your majesty." He said with his deep voice. For the moment he was out of his armor, only wearing a brown shirt along with cloth pants. The Combusken meanwhile hadn't taken to a knee, instead crossing his arms with a huff and moving about the throne room.

    "Oh, uh, don't mind him. He's quite the delinquent." Pat said with a chuckle, trying to dispel his own worry that the chicken would do something too drastic. "The bird just doesn't take well to having missed his lunch." As one of the guards tried to approach the fire type the Combusken turned his head toward him and sent out a warning, a small rush of flames that almost hit the man's face. The guard quickly pulled back and Pat chuckled, "Like I said, he doesn't like being told what to do."

    The Combusken's beak turned into something of a smug grin as he went over to a pillar and proceeded to lean his back against it. He let one clawed hand rest against the pillar and soon came the sound of his claw tips raking against the pillar. Small bits of paint fell onto the floor as the bird rolled his eyes and kept on scratching.

    Pat smiled at a guard, "You can try and stop him if you want, but truth be told it's either the pillar, or getting him so mad he burns away the banners and everything else in here." He shrugged a bit, "It comes with the territory." As he tried to get up now the guard pushed him back down, "Sorry sir, orders of her majesty." At that the Combusken swiftly got off the pillar and Pat chuckled, "Oh, I see how he's doing it now. He's trying to find an excuse to flame one of ya."

    The guard slowly stepping back from Pat, perhaps showing just a bit of fear, and the bird smirked and leaned back against his pillar, once more proceeding to rake his claws against it.

    Pat sighed and looked back at the fire type, "Can you just please stop that?" At his words the chicken did stop and as Pat turned his head to face forward once more only to cringe as the sound of even louder raking started up, with the fire type slowly dragging both sets of claws along the pillar. Pat just hung his head and groaned at the embarrassment.

    Yumi Fey

    Yumi entered the castle, and was stopped by two guards before entering. Once she stopped, they asked her to hold her hands out together - which she did - and the bound them together with rope. Fang started to protest, but Yumi shook her head, and spoke.

    "It's for the Queen's protection, understand? They'll undo it when we leave Fang."

    With another worried glance he obeyed and followed her quietly as the two guards took up her left and right side. As she was escorted down the path, she looked in awe. The royal red capets, the fine wood. Everything was made of high price material. Yumi took in her surroundings and began to smile. The castle was huge, and she could never imagine just having two people live there.In fact, she could bet that a ton of families could fit in there. Of course, all this excitement was because it was her first time in the castle, and she was eager to find out why she had be so graciously summoned to the place.

    Fang was little interested in the place, and more concerned about the fact that his comrade was too tied-up(pun intended) in looking around than the fact that they had missed precious training time. She gave Fang a reasurring look, and turned back just as she was about to crash into a door. She stopped abruptly, and let the guards open the door.

    Yumi was lead into yet another large room, and was finally able to see the Queen. Instead of the King in the throne, the Queen sat uneasily, obviously waiting for something. After kneeling, Yumi realized there was a woman next to her, and she seemed to be wearing a beautiful black dress. Yumi gave her a polite smile, and once again turned her gaze to the Queen.

    The Iron Knight

    Bors of House Ferus

    _______________________

    Loud clangs of metal against metal signaled Bors' entrance to the room. He was escorted by two knights whom Bors towered over easily. With his incredible size and the fact he was adorned in well-polished shining steel armor one might assume Bors would be leading the knights rather than following them.

    Bors was holding a cage in his left hand containing his familiar Aron with a makeshift metal device restraining its mouth. Through much trial and error, Bors found this to be the most effective means to prevent his pokemon from causing trouble. It would be fatal if the pokemon's usual shenanigans were to occur in front of the queen.

    Under his other arm was his famed helmet, modeled after the head of an Aggron it had two horns large horns pointing from its scalp and a large thick visor cover the face of the helmet. It shined similarly as bright as Bors' armor, but seemed much more worn with various marks from battles past. The helmet was a truly wonderful piece of art and a great source of pride for Bors.

    With a slow walk he reached his place among the others who have already gathered. He didn't bother to question the status or attitudes as it wasn't his place. Bors was a knight and their lives are to the realm. There was no need of judgments, especially when it comes to the decisions of his queen. It was his place to protect and serve and that was what he planned on doing. Bors placed the cage down and the helmet on top of it before bending his knee to the queen. With a bow of his head he looked to the queen.

    "Your majesty."

    With the pleasantries out of the way, Bors awaited orders.

  • Marek Reiketsukan
    Royal Summoning

    Just having finished up assisting an elderly couple with moving their blacksmith equipment. A rather scrubby looking man ran a hand through his wildly unkempt sandy hair, letting out a quiet sigh of relief, now that the job was completed. Taking a seat next to him a small golden little animal imitated the gesture. Stroking her ponytail like horns that were bound tightly shut with worn medical wrappings. She blinked her large red yet innocent looking eyes up to the man next to her questionably.

    "Oh, why thank you very much, Marek." The woman owning the Blacksmith Shop in the commoners section of the great Walled City of Hearthome. Handing the young lad a mug of liquid, and a smaller cup of water to the little monster at his side. "And you too, Mawile, good job."

    Graciously taking the drink and slowly taking a sip. "Any time," Marek answered politely, putting his eyes down to his Partner who didn't waste anytime slamming the offered water down. Finishing with a loud exhale, she looked up to the lady with a weak smile holding the cup back out, invitingly. "Don't get greedy, Mawile. I'll get you something later."

    The woman giggled as she retrieved the wooden drinking instrument. "It's not a problem at all," she cut in, before turning to move back indoors. She was quickly replaced however by the aged gentleman that was her husband. In the man's hand was a petite brown pouch containing a number of coins that would be pay for the twos help.

    Marek exchanged a few words of appreciation with the man before looking over his shoulder. Hearing the metallic clinking of Royal Guards moving in from behind him. Marek slowly got to his feet and faced the two approaching men. Mawile took a place behind her Knight, grabbing onto his dark fitting pants just below his knees. A questionable look overtook Marek's light brown eyes, as the rest of his face was hidden behind a tattered black scarf. The starting of a large scar could however be seen running along his right cheek.

    "Merak Reiketsukan? If you'd please come with us. The Queen has requested your attendance." One of the men spoke as the both came to a halt a few paces away. 'The Queen?' Marek repeated internally. Turning around to face the Blacksmith owner once more Marek nodded, "Tell your wife thanks, but apparently something urgent has come up. We'll be taking out leave. Good day to you."

    Having been led through nearly the entire city, Marek remained silent. Mawile was keeping pace with her little feet moving hastily, one of her hands still gripping tightly to Marek's pant leg. Her lustrous plum colored horns swayed behind her with each step. Periodically she'd look up to the Guards then turn her head aside if they were to look back.

    The Castle of the Hearthome City was immaculate, inside and out, the entrance was large, open and decorated with such eloquent symmetry. "Sorry Sir, but we'll have to be taking your weapon, for reasons that need not be said before entering the throne room." The second Guard requested waving his hand for one of the servants to come over. "Worry not, as it will be well kept, and returned to you before you leave."

    Lifting his left wrist up Marek gazed at the jewel in the center of his shield. This weapon was the only thing that remained of his Father, and it wasn't easy for him to simply part with it. However being in Royal presence there was no danger in giving it up, for now. Unbinding it with his right hand Marek offered the green accented gold shield, without a fuss. Yet did give warning to the servant that there was an extendable blade that could lash out if carried wrong.

    Both Marek and Mawile were then brought to the large elaborate doors leading into the throne room. Inside there were other Knights, accompanied by their Pokemon Partners. Marek gave a reassuring look to both the Royal Guards as they backed off slightly. Making his way to where the others waited on their knees, Marek took note of a peculiar looking bird having it's way with one of the pillars. Why Royalty would allow such vandalism was beyond him, but he didn't pay it much heed.

    Without a word Marek knelt down as well. Between an older man and young woman with a purple streak running through her bangs. Mawile glanced around the open space, shyly, and instinctively muttered a remark towards the shark-like dragon monster also in their company. It wasn't difficult for Marek to quiet his Partner, as she moved to once again be standing behind her Knight.

    The two guards slowly escort the knight to the throne room, the younger guard surprised that his bestial Pokémon is actually giving them less trouble than its master. Their lack of speed is not due to slow walking speed, but rather, the knight refuses to stay on track.

    "Just look at all this space! In an emergency, you'd be able to fit my entire town into these halls! Of course, your city is much larger, so I'll wager it takes more time and rooms to evacuate. Or do you have other shelters from attacks? Oh, hold on! I know that smell! Are the kitchens nearby? Maybe we could just pop in, grab something real quick..."

    The older guard gently steers the knight back on track to the throne room, years of experience allowing him to keep his composure. The younger guard nervously glances at the Pinsir, who calmly looks about, seemingly not caring about being guided, or its master's weapons being confiscated.

    When they reach the door, the older guard stops David, looking him in the eye. "You got all that out of your system, sir? Are you going to be calm and respectful in front of the Queen?"

    David nods solemnly, looking at the large doors. "Sorry. I get talkative when I'm excited. Or nervous. I've never met the Queen before. Or the King, actually. You know, it was actually one of you guys who rec-mmph."

    The guard puts his hand over David's mouth, stopping his rambling. "Just... don't say anything sir. Her Majesty has been quite stressed lately. Please don't agitate her, or we'll have to throw you in the dungeon. Understood?"

    David nods, and is led inside. He looks around, impressed by the size of the throne room, and the variety of people and Pokémon inside. He is stopped by the others, and he sees the Queen looking at him, almost sadly. He moves to step forward and introduce himself, but the older guard quickly and quietly jabs the butt of his spear into the back of David's knee, dropping him to one knee. David gets the point, and stares at the floor. "Your Majesty..." His Pinsir stands by his side, looking ready to doze off, but its eyes constantly roam the room, ready for anything.

    Hearthome City - Throne Room of Castle Singard

    ~~~~~
    "Leo, would you stop fightin' them, already, please? This is only temporary." Felix paused and looked back at the guard that was tying his hands together. "Right?"
    The guard finished the knot and stepped back, regarding the kid with a blank face. "We have our orders." They were standing outside the gates of Castle Singard, which Felix had only heard about before now. It was so...big. And majestic. That reminded him of the stories about his grandfather, which then led to Felix's father, which somehow brought Edmund back into mind. His face fell, inwardly cringing at the memory.
    "What." Edmund stared at him, then at the Riolu that stood apart from all the humans in the room. Edmund shook his head, looking back at Felix. "You must be mistaken. The Riolu's with m--"
    "Me," Felix repeated, ignoring the guards that had come into the inn's yard. He also ignored his hand, which had been buzzing since Felix had watched the Riolu perform against a wooden dummy in one corner. "You should be givin' Leo a choice here, not tryin' to force him into being your partner."
    Edmund shook his head again. Felix was being assertive for once, and Ed found he didn't like it. "He's a pet. The
    family pet. I get to say what happens with hi--"
    Felix snapped out of the daze when the guard snapped his fingers before his face. "Kid, can't you control it?" the guard asked, nodding at the Riolu. Leo was still growling and trying to pull away from another guard that currently restrained him. "We can't go before the queen like this."
    "Him. Leo's a boy." Nodding slightly, Felix turned fully around to face Leo and crouched. "Leo, calm down, please. This is only for a little while, it's not like they're tryin' to cage us up." The Riolu held his gaze for a moment before relaxing slightly, only to stop the struggling. Felix sighed and stood up, a bit awkwardly as it wasn't easy to push himself up with tied-up hands. As he and Leo were escorted further into the castle, Felix kept his eyes down for the most part, too gloomy to take in his surroundings.
    "No you don't." Felix took a step toward Edmund, staring at his elder brother defiantly. "He doesn't like you anyway, Eddie."
    "This is ridiculous." Edmund began to move toward the Riolu, but Felix stepped in his way. "Move, Felix." He pushed Felix out of the way with one hand and stepped forward again.
    "No." Felix put out a hand to pull his brother back, the one that was buzzing. Before he knew it, his palm released a small blast that forced Edmund away several yards. Edmund let out a cry of pain in response, clapping a hand to his shoulder. "Oh, snap, sorry, Ed, I didn't mean to do that, I thought I--"
    A cleared throat brought Felix's attention around to the two guards that had approached him. "I think it's clear who the Pokemon's with. Her Majesty the Queen requests your presence and that of your Pokemon."
    It still puzzled him. Felix already knew that he had some sort of...magic, for lack of a better word. The problem was, two days before the Teufels had entered the city, Felix had watched Leo do a sort of fiery kick against a wild Pokemon that had attacked them. He'd then surprised himself by repeating the same attack, with the flames coming out of nowhere. Felix could never replicate it after that day, though not for lack of trying. Maybe I'm a copycat of some sort...
    Either way, the guards knew now that Felix could force people away with his palm, which posed a danger to the queen. As they walked through a pair of large doors into the throne room, Felix couldn't help snorting quietly at the thought. Yeah, right. I really don't think I could do it again.
    He didn't see the stern stare that one guard gave him for the snort; Felix was busy looking up for once and seeing the Knights and their partners, then the queen. He bowed low to her immediately; that was what people did, wasn't it? The guard beside him pushed down on Felix's shoulder, forcing him to his knees. "Ow..." Despite being in the presence of royalty for the first time, Felix still looked up and at the others again.
    On his other side, Leo was trying to watch everyone at once, his body tense ever since they'd come through the doors. Too many humans around, not to mention the other, bigger Pokemon. It got a little worse when Leo's eyes locked onto the big man dressed in metal and the cage at his feet. The Riolu surged forward, coming close to escaping his guard's grasp before the human renewed his grip. Caged Aron, caged Pokemon, must free Aron.
    "Leo, stop it!" Felix began to stand up again, but his escort pushed him to his knees again and kept his hand on Felix's shoulder. Leo turned his head to Felix, who added, "Please." The Riolu calmed down again, though now he was growling inaudibly. Yeah, not exactly a good first impression...
    ~An Audience with the Queen~
    The Distant Past
    The Walled City of Hearthome ~ Castle Singard Throne Room
    Ariana Kaizu Rowan & Queen Elizabeth Singard
    The guards began to panic slightly as they saw the disobedience present in the Riolu and Combusken they had allowed into the throne room. The elderly man whom had been escorting David spoke up, apparently he held some form of higher rank above the others that gave him the privilege of bossing them around. "Gah... wether they've calmed down or not! No living being holds the right to show such disrespect to the queen! Men, restrain them!" At the elderly guards command, several of the other guards drew blades and ropes before slowly encircling the two disobedient pokémon. Though they had mostly calmed down it would seem that the guards were not in the mood for taking chances while in the presence of royalty.
    The queen however, did not seem to share this worry.
    "Enough!" Standing from the crown, the queen raises her voice before striking the ground violently with the golden scepter she carried.
    Immediately all of the soldiers ceased action, about faced and fell to their knees. Even the elderly man of high position immediately submitted to the monarchs fury.
    Ariana winced slightly, she didn't like it when other people shouted... no matter the situation, it put her off speaking even more than usual. However, despite this, Ariana was more than willing to forgive when she looked upon the queen of the land. She had only met the queen once before this current time, from her memory Elizabeth was an incredibly beautiful woman, her long blonde hair fell down to far below her hips, her eyes shone a brilliant silver grey... she wore a black dress aswell, though it was made from the finest and purest silk and lace. Truly a work of art transferred to quality clothing and despite Ariana's own dress being fine in quality and design it was still put to shame in comparison to the queen's. To the sides of her hair were four unique hair clips, black and gold in color and shaped like ovals, their purpose appeared to be to hold the hair out of the beautiful and vibrantly young face of Sinnoh's ruler.
    Yet the queen's face was stained with sadness and as such its usual beauty began to lack. "Leave the pokémon be... I have summoned them alongside their knights for a reason... they are, just as much as these humans, our honored guests." The elderly captain of guard grunted slightly, but nodded in agreement with the queen. Standing solemnly, he called the guards to move to the side of the room so that the now standing queen could begin her announcement.
    Before this however, much to the surprise of Ariana and presumably most of the others aswell, the queen herself put her scepter aside and gave a slight smile and curtsy to the knights and pokémon that stood before her.
    2hrfx9d.jpg
    Standing straight once more and holding her hands together while a worried expression spread on her face. The queen spoke to directly address the gathered group.
    "Good day, servants of Sinnoh and her kin, I, as most of you must know, am the queen and currently ruling monarch of this kingdom. Elizabeth Aincyth Singard." She paused and moved her left hand in a gentle upwards motion.
    "You may rise."
    Ariana, along with the other knights, would stand from their kneeling position and put their hands behind their backs as a customary sign of openness and respect.
    "You must all be confused as to why I brought you here... as knights you are aware of your duties and such a random summoning to stand before the throne must be a surprise to you all. To be honest some of you may already be able to assume the reasoning behind this unorthodox meeting based on the dire situation this Kingdom has now found itself in." The queens eyes darted to the side, as if she were reliving a bad memory.
    "My husband, your king. Is nowhere to be found, he has truly vanished without a trace." Ariana gulped audibly at the queens words. It was common knowledge by this point in time, that the king of all Sinnoh had vanished from his throne. But what did this have to do with her? Or any of the other knights present?
    "For the longest while now the citizens have been losing hope... however it would seem that within the kings own study, he himself has left us a small piece of hope to hang onto. I suppose there's no point beating around the bush in regards to the matter... guards, bring them in!" The queens call echoed along the large hallway and the throne rooms doors slowly creaked open once again.
    A myriad of extra guards swarmed in, one for each knight present and each holding a red velvet pillow. To Ariana's confusion, a guard knelt before Ariana and each of the other knights in turn before presenting them with the pillow and, more importantly, the items that sat upon it. The queen nodded for them to accept the gifts and with even greater confusion and suspicion, Ariana did so.
    There were two... bracelets of sorts. One was made of a strange metallic substance and seemed large enough for a humans wrist, it contained a multicolored stone which was embedded into the bracelets top and upon further investigation it didn't appear to be adjustable in any way shape or form and as such it clamped loosely on Ariana's wrist when she tried it on. The second trinket seemed to be made of an adjustable crudely wrought rope and iron ring, within the center of the ring was yet another odd gem, this one seemed to differ in color per individual.
    "The one wrought of metal is for a knight, while the one bound by rope is for their partner." The queen explained. "I should ask you put them on immediately if possible."
    Ariana was to... put the trinket on magikarp? She looked down at the orange fish whom she had been clutching this entire time. She was honestly surprised at how calm he had been throughout the meeting. As the pokémons eyes met Ariana's he seemed to understand and showed as much by raising his flipper off of his body. Ariana smiled and swiftly wrapped the rope around the water types fin before tightening it just enough so that it wouldn't slip off in most circumstances.
    The queen continued once everyone had finished. "Now then... you must all be even more confused than you were before... trust me I was aswell. But I trust my husbands judgment by gifting these strange artifacts to you and your pokémon. He asked for all of you specifically... he wrote you down by name." The queen frowned in her own confusion as she desperately tried to find the words to explain the situation at hand.
    "To put this quickly, we believe we know where the king is. He seems to have gone to the Snowpoint Temple of Northern Sinnoh." Ariana gasped audibly and placed a hand to her mouth in surprise. It was common knowledge to the people the Snowpoint Temple was the furthest point in the entire Kingdom from the capital city, it was a holy place built to worship Arceus and the legendary pokémon said to have shaped the continents themselves, Regigigas in days of old, however in the current era it had long since been abandoned to the passage of time as pokémon forced humans to exist primarily in the walled city of Hearthome. Many groups had set off on expeditions to that place... sometimes even legions of men at a time. But the long journey proved too much in the dangerous world of the Sinnoh wilds and no man had ever returned from the journey alive.
    Cynthia's eyes flashed with a pain Ariana had never seen before. "Upon learning that alone from a note my husband left behind... I lost almost all hope for our king. However... that was not all the letter contained. It came packaged with a strange device that held the trinkets you now where aswell as this... it contained a summons. A summons that all of you take these trinkets and follow King Singard to the snowpoint temple." Ariana almost fell to her knees. Her eyes widened and her lips parted in surprise.
    She was... being sent to her death essentially. The snowpoint temple? The place of no return for any and all knights and citizens alike who traveled their? What... what madness was this? She was being sent to such a place with a bunch of strangers she had never met?! There was no way she could survive that... no way. She was doomed, they were all doomed.
    The kings final act had been to send them to their deaths... probably the same death that the king himself had faced.
    Ariana had had enough, she mustered all of her courage at that point in order to speak out against the queen herself. She would not allow herself to be forced to her own death. She would not!
    "...I-!" Ariana began to speak but was suddenly cut off by a horribly loud noise.
    The distinct cracking of wood, but at a higher volume than she had ever before heard. This sound resonated with a large explosion and a sudden ringing in her ears as she dropped magikarp and fell to her knees. She quickly turned her head to the door behind her... only to wish that she hadn't.
    The large entrance door lay splintered into a thousand pieces and a horde of horrible zubat and golbat swarmed into the throne room, fangs glistening in the light of the room.
    The elderly guard rushed forward and stood before the massive horde, he drew a large greatsword as the other knights began to line up beside him. He growled with aggression. "Impossible! How on Earth were they able to enter the city unnoticed... let alone get as far as the throne room for Arceus' sake!" An angry golbat charged at the elderly man with hatred in it's eyes... it attacked with more than the common hunger that drove most pokémon in the wild. These beasts wanted nothing more than the death of all those present. The elderly guard was in no mood for the bats hasty attack and with a swift spin and strike he cut the bat pokémon down.
    The queen, who had remained shocked for a brief moment closed her eyes, only to have them flair back open with a new fire and determination that had seemed lacking a few moments before. Grabbing the gold scepter and thrusting it forward in defiance, she cried out.
    "Milotic! Quickly, to my aid!" In a flash a beautiful water serpent unlike any Ariana had ever seen launched out from its hiding spot behind the large golden throne to land directly between the knights and the newly arrived swarm. Had it been hiding there the entire time?!
    "Wipe them away my friend! Show them the strength of the waves!" Responding immediately to her masters call, the Milotic reared it's head and fired a powerful hydro pump to pierce through the bat pokémon hoard, so powerful was this attack that it managed to physically cut a line through the overwhelming mass of wings and fangs. The elderly captain turned to the queen in shock and upset as he saw her Milotic easily wipe the pokémon away.
    "Your majesty please! You musn't, allow us to-"
    "Silence captain!" The Queen retaliated. "If these pokémon decide to invade MY home in MY presence in as DIRE a time as this?! Then I will fight to show them vengeance!" The captain backed down and turned with sword drawn to the zubats and golbats.
    "As you wish... your majesty..." He paused for a moment before shaking his fist violently.
    "Men! Charge!" Each drawing a weapon, the guards charged forward in tight formation, the combination of their efforts, armor, weapons and training making it possible for them to stand strong against the powerful monsters that attacked them so viciously.
    A stray Zubat charged towards Ariana with a killer intent. Surprised and terrified, she raised her hands defensively in front of her face while screaming.
    "KAAAAARP!" Suddenly a scaly orange body propelled through the air from its grounded position. Magikarp threw its entire weight behind its tackle attack as it knocked the zubat clean out of the sky. The normally helpless fish pokémon landed directly before his knight and flopped around uselessly for a few moments, flashing determination in his eyes. Ariana held her hands close to her heart as she saw her pokémon desiring to assist in the battle at hand. She hated fighting, but it was a do or die situation... this was her only choice.
    "Alright Magikarp!... Use Tackle!"
    "MAGIKAAAARP!" With an almost immediate response time, Magikarp flopped itself from the ground at an incredibly high speed and propelled itself right into a golbats side. Doing a fair bit more damage than would normally be expected of such a weak species.
    The queen, still standing before her throne, scepter in hand as she commanded Milotic, caught the little Magikarps heroics out of the corner of her eye and in response, called out to the gathered knights.
    "Knights of Sinnoh! Hands bound, or weapons taken... you still have your partners standing beside you!" With a determined glare she thrust her scepter forward towards the hoard of pokémon before her. "Let us fight to defend our stronghold from these foolish beasts!"
    The bat pokémon hoard suddenly began to focus on the knights and queen rather than the guards, they themselves seemed to have discerned that the humans and pokémon together were a much more serious threat than the group of guards and Milotic they currently battled.
    Moving as a swarm they charged towards the group of defenseless knights, rendering them reliant on nothing more than their bond with their pokémon partner.
    Yumi Fey
    Yumi stood with her fellow knights, and stepped each leg over her tied hands so they where behind her back. This was a respective sign to the Monarch, and was necessary when being addressed by the Queen. Of course, she didn't know much about it since this was her first time here. She watched as Fang rose beside her, and then turned her attention to the current Ruler. The Queen, now revealed as Elizabeth Aincyth Singard, wore a very troubled expression, and her voice when she mentioned the king was full of pained sadness. She was obviously wanted somthing important, but it wasn't going to be easy. Yumi took a glance to her left, and noticed that there was more male knights than females. A chance to prove female dominance. She thought with a small smirk. Refocusing on the queen, she listened to what had to be said.
    The Queen had been right, Yumi was confused, and nervous as well. But then again, standing before the Queen, who wouldn't be? This was about the King as, so it had to be of the most importance. The Queen had even mentioned his disappearance with a saddened voice. Yumi now wore a puzzled expression, and could tell whatever it was, it would be dangerous. The King had vanished awhile ago, and the fact that there were so many knights mean't that there HAD to be a journey ahead of them. But why? The King's disappearance had nothing to do with her. And the Queen was also correct that the people of Sinnoh were giving up, but when she called for the guards, Yumi was hit with yet another ton of confusion. Guards came in holding red velvet pillows, and gathered near Yumi and the other knights specifically. A guard knelt beside her, and gave held out a the pillow with two separate bracelets on them. Looking back to the Queen, she noticed that she had nodded for them to accept the items. There was a metal bracelet, and one of rope, and each with stones.
    The guard with Yumi's trinkets offered to help her put them on, and when it clicked on, the metal-like bracelet was cool. With a nod from Yumi, Fang allowed the guard to tie the rope bracelet around his upper arm. After it was done, that's when Yumi realized everyones' Pokémon had a different color jewel on thier rings.
    Then the Queen said something even more puzzling. The King had chosen each knight specifically. But that was impossible right? For one, Yumi had never even met the guy, let alone enough for him to remember her! It was truly impossible. Then the matter they were being sent to their deaths at Snowpoint Temple. Former home to the worship of Arceus and Regigigas. The woman beside her was about to say something when she was cut off by the horrible sound of splintering wood, and the entrace of a hoard of Zubat and Golbat. The Queen, angered by the interruption, said something, and all of a sudden a Milotic came out of nowhere! It seemed the Queen was partnered with it, and was giving it soft commands that it obeyed. The Queen asked for the knights help, and of course, Yumi was happy to oblige. She called to Fang, who quickly sliced the rope that bound her hands, and ready herself to attack.
    "Alright Fang, let's go! Use Dragon Rage!"
    Fang rushed forward, and let himself be angered. He then began to attack a small group of Zubat. A slice here, a punch there. It was just training right? Yumi joined the fray, and built up her inner flame for Dragon Breath. When she was ready, she released a spiraled blue-ish purple flame from her mouth, and cuaght a few Golbat. Three Golbat were flung back, and lifted to advance her with a heavy bloodlust. I don't have enough time for another Dragon Breath! She thought, and just as they where about to close in, Fang leapt to her defense. Crossing his claws in front of his face, he chopped an 'X' shape in the air, catching the Golbat with his Dual Chop. The injured Golbat flew off, most likely tired of fighting, only to be replaced by more.
    "Thanks Fang! I owe you one!"
    Adelaide Victoria Cairon
    Medium_portrait_ilyana_fe10.png
    Adelaide shook her head and frowned at the guard standing before her. "Miss, you must have your hands tied before you are taken to the throne room" the guard said to her a frown on his face as well.
    "Addie, it's just for a bit" the guard continued sighing as he looked at her and Adelaide frowned more moving her hands.
    I need my hands to communicate Jared she signed to her long term friend.
    "I know you do Addie, but please it's just for a little bit. I have my orders" Jared tried again before the sound of an explosion filled the air. "what the..." Jared paused and looked at Adelaide and Kadabra. "we have to go see what that was...but it had to have been bad so I'll forgo my orders and leave your hands untied let's go" jared said running towards the sound of the explosion.
    Adelaide brushed her hair out of her eyes and glanced at Kadabra nodding before the two took off after Jared. Sprinting Adelaide reached the throne room and froze seeing the horde of Zubat and Golbat attacking. Glancing quickly at Kadabra Adelaide moved her hands in a few swift motions.
    Teleport then Fire Punch she smiled as Kadabra nodded in understanding and glowed white disappearing from view. Seconds later he reappeared now across the room and his hand became surrounded by flames as he punched a Zubat injuring it. As this was happening Adelaide saw three Golbat flying at the back of a brown haired woman that had a Gabite with her. Running forwards Adelaide's eyes turned red, seconds later several bright multicolored circles were released from her eyes slamming into the Golbat's knocking two of them back injuring them and completely taking out the third.
    The Iron Knight
    Bors of House Ferus
    _______________________
    Accepting the both stones, Bors held both objects in his hand, unable to do much with either object until he released the Aron from his cage and took off his armor and released his Aron, which the man was wise enough to not do at the moment.
    With that, the knight allowed the others to speak, only for them to be quickly cut off by the horde of zubats. In response Bors adorned his helmet, truly becoming the embodiment of the Iron Knight. In full shining steel, Bors released the Aron from his cage. The actions of the others held little worry to him as his priority was on his Aron and the words of the queen right now as he hung the stone around his neck. Getting up, Aron left the small pokemon's mouth guard in place, knowing that his mouth could be problematic in the future. Looking down at the pokemon Bors gave a few words to the Aron.
    "It is time to fight."
    Putting down his own armor's mouth guard, he turned his back in trust of the Aron's ability. Spotting a decorative armor, Bors moved towards it. Armed with a sword and shield; he pried the weapon from the hollow knight and with a quick turn, Bors sliced at a zubat that approached him. Unfortunately, due to the dullness of the decorative weapon, the zubat was not cut and rather flew away from the force of the attack. The attack still managed to leave the creature unconscious however. I guess this will do.
    Bors put his bracelet around the guard of his blade, as holding the bracelet wasn't an option for him any longer. As soon as he freed the shield from the vessel, Bors made his way over to the queen, prioritizing her safety over everyone else in the room.
    He looked towards his Aron to gauge his performance. The pokemon jumped into the hair, slamming its head into a Golbat, taking the bat down with his fall. The bat tried it's best to bite at the pokemon, but its steel armor was too thick to penetrate, leaving the pokemon only with broken teeth. The Aron proceeded to bash right back into the pokemon's face, leaving the Golbat with a gruesome death. Content with his Aron's work, Bors found his place near the queen and bashed a few that came near.
  • David MacGregor
    David slides the bracelet onto his wrist, admiring it in the light. While he'd never been fond of jewelry, this was a gift from the king, so who could refuse? He affixes the second stone into a necklace for Pinsir, who is suddenly alert, listening for something. Before David can ask what's wrong, a splintering explosion rocks the room, and a swarm of bats flies in. Chaos ensues, and Pinsir rushes into the fray.
    David, no stranger to Zubat attacks, looks around for a way to defend himself. "Herc, keep 'em busy! Vicegrip does nicely, or Toss them into each other!" Pinsir roars in agreement, putting his namesake pincers to good use. David sees the guard captain who had been escorting him take on a Golbat by himself. David rushes forward, tackling the man's legs and grabbing a dagger from his belt. A Golbat whooshes by, barely missing the guard thanks to David's diving save. "Sorry, thank you, and you're welcome!"
    David rushes back to stand by the armor-clad giant and the Queen, while Pinsir helps thin the horde. "Your Majesty, while the tide appears to be turning in our favor, may I suggest you retreat to safety? I'd hate for Sinnoh to lose both of it's leaders in such a short time." A Zubat crashes into his back, biting down on his shoulder. He winces, crying out in surprise more than pain, before falling back to crush the bat under his weight. He quickly leaps back to his feet, the stunned Zubat lying on the floor. "Allow your guards and knights to protect you!"
    Patrick - Oh dear Arceus this Combusken is crazy!
    Patrick couldn't help but sigh as the guards began to advance and he shot a glare back at the bird, "Now you've gone and done it." He muttered angrily. The Combusken however barely paid any attention to him as he stopped leaning on the pillar and eagerly began to hop on his two feet, ready to fight with some guards when her majesty's voice rang out. The guards pulled away and Patrick had to sigh in relief, though the Combusken looked a bit angry at the order and began to claw up the pillar again, this time aiming to make as much noise as possible. However, as the queen went on and seemed to pay no mind to his actions the fire type huffed and angrily crossed his arms, turning his head away and likewise paying no attention to anything the queen said.
    Patrick rose with the others as the queen did her best to explain what was going on and he paled a bit as she mentioned the missing king. Well... that was unexpected. He thought that at least she might build a bit with a lead in and go on about how she was taking care of things before dropping that bombshell on them, but then she brought in bracelets and other trivial things, which only caused more confusion for Patrick. He picked up the two items, studying them a bit as what she said next confused him even more! The king had asked for him by name? Had he known the king in someway? No... that couldn't be right. If anything it was highly possible that all he did at one point of his service was swing out a salute if he would pass by, and it wasn't as if he had saved the man's life one day or had gone to his court to appeal for some sort of help directly.
    As Patrick went over to the still sulking chicken he almost lost his footing as the queen kept on talking. Snowpoint Temple!? In the coldest part of the world? That had to be some sort of joke... was this all a joke now? Some sort of new event that the king invented where random knights are brought in and are tested to see how far they are willing to go for a king and then the king jumps out and the royalty has a good laugh on their behalf? At this point he could only hope that would happen.
    As Patrick tried to put the necklace on the fire type, the Combusken only swayed his head from side to side, completely avoiding the necklace and making Patrick groan, "Just put this thing on now. I swear you think it's some sort of poison."
    As he tried yet again the Combusken snatched it from his grip and smirked as he twirled the rope around on a finger and Patrick sighed, "That'll do... I suppose."
    There was little time for argument after that as a swarm of Zubats flew in. Well... another surprise. Surely there had to be a reason that these Zubats were here. Perhaps with the king gone someone had managed to gather them all up in an effort to kill the queen and take the throne? Well, he was never the best at strategy, but there was thing he was good at. He reached back to grab his warhammer... and remembered it wasn't there. "Stupid sons of-"
    He had to duck as a Zubat came flying at him and... the Combusken was yawning as he sat against his pillar.
    "Hey bird! Get your ass out here!" He shouted angrily, but the Combusken just yawned again. Partick groaned, "Oh come on! Even the bloody fish is putting more effort into it!"
    The Combusken just yawned, glancing about at the various mon already helping and as he laid down to sleep a random Zubat flew right into his face. The fire type narrowed his eyes as the bat tried to bit into his face, only to receive a face full of Ember that made it drop lifeless to the ground.
    The fire type became tense as he shouted out angrily and took in a deep breath and began to breath out Embers left and right at the bat horde… unfortunately he also ended up lighting a few banners on fire. Although they helped in also setting some of the bats on fire, it was still fire and it was spreading. Of course the Combusken was far too angry to even care about what it was doing, and it just kept on spitting out fire left and right.
    "Better than doing nothing..." Patrick muttered.
  • Felix
    Castle Singard Throne Room - Bat Attack
    ~~~~~

    No, no, no, don't do anything stupid, Leo, why don't you all back off? Despite the guard's hand on his shoulder, Felix half-violently shook his head at the Riolu, who was eyeing the approaching guards with growing apprehension. When the queen called the guards to order, Leo jerked out of his guard's grip and moved over to stand in front of Felix, who breathed a sigh of relief. Disaster averted. I think. At least both guards had left them now.

    Surprise flitted over his face when the queen curtsied to them. Felix glanced at the other...knights, she had called them? A motley group, from the looks of it, and he was pretty sure knights walked around in armor, like the man with the caged Aron. When they all stood back up, Felix silently dropped his tied hands on top of the Riolu's head and continued to listen. The following explanation raised more questions, as did the trinkets that were brought in. The soldiers had hardly knelt before Leo pulled theirs off the pillow before them. Felix crouched down again, ignoring the guard while watching Leo turn them over in his paws.

    "Um, it goes on your wrist, Leo," he said quietly. The Riolu glanced at him in askance. "Your arm. Eh, I'd show you, but...sorry, could you help me out here, please?" Felix asked the guard before them, holding up his tied hands. In a minute, his bracelet was clamped on, a bit loose on Felix. Leo still stared at him with a blank face, as if not understanding why anyone would do such a thing. Or you can just continue holding it, whatever floats your boat. Felix stood up and put his hands back on the Riolu's head.

    He rocked back a bit on his feet when Snowpoint Temple came into the explanation. My village is cold enough as it is, now we're supposed to go even further north? That's a no-no zone for anyone. Of course, that never stopped the people who used Felix's village over the years as a resting place before trying to go all the way to Snowpoint Temple. Fritzi secretly told him she wanted to head there one day, be one of the first to make it there and back alive.

    Ye-ah, this is lunacy. The bit about the king asking for all of them by name flew over Felix's head at first. He was sure someone else in the group would speak out against the idea of this journey, they all had to know about it.

    The explosion of wood was loud enough to make Felix jump in surprise before he and Leo turned to face the throne room's doors. Or what was left of them, since a swarm of Zubats and Golbats were swarming inside. The guards jumped into retaliation and stood strong while a Milotic came out of hiding to help. Leo, of course, didn't move away from Felix at first, since the humans were occupying the bats' attention. In fact, the Riolu had been watching the Milotic's every move, faintly glowing blue after the Hydro Pump. "Need t' get these off," Felix muttered, vainly trying to pull his hands out of their bonds.

    Looking up from his hands, Felix stumbled backward as he saw a pair of Zubats dodging around everyone else in the room to come at him. Snap, can't defend myself, Leo, do something! Although he was sure the Riolu couldn't hear his thoughts, Leo jumped up and slapped the first Zubat, blasting it away with a Force Palm. The second bat flew by him, throwing an Air Cutter at Felix before Leo struck it next. On reflex, Felix held up his arms in defense, closing his eyes shut. He growled in pain as the Air Cutter hit his arms, leaving a long slice across both arms that conveniently cut his ropes as well.

    "Oh." Felix dropped his arms and saw three more bats coming at Leo. The Riolu was dodging several of their attacks while replying with Force Palms every time he could slap a bat. "I really wish I had a bow or somethin'," Felix muttered, standing back from the chaos. He couldn't trust his new magic since he didn't know how it worked, and he'd left his hunting bow back with his siblings at the inn.

    It was during a lull in the flow of bats flying toward the Riolu that Felix saw the fire beginning to spread along the banners. Gonna spread to the rest of the room if it isn't stopped! Remembering that Leo had glowed blue while watching the Milotic, Felix shouted, "You know how to put out fire, Leo?" Without waiting for a response, Felix began running toward one side of the room, looking for a suit of armor. Stupid question, now that I think about it. He'd seen the armored man pull a sword and shield from one, and it was the first thing that came to Felix's mind in looking for a feasible way to help.

    The blue glow left Leo as he turned toward the fire and, not paying attention to anyone or anything in the way, released a Copycat Hydro Pump at the burning banners. The Riolu then ran after Felix, the only human in the room he really cared about.
