I've been on other forums before where an elitist attitude reigns supreme. I remember I almost got in trouble for doing something (I don't remember the exact situation) when there was a veteran member doing the same thing who never heard from staff. If it's one thing I don't like, it's when the entire forum feels like an inner circle you have to fight your way into. I really like it here where it feels a lot more open and new members are welcomed with glee.
A lot of those forums treat post count like a representation of status. I knew a guy on another forum that was promoted and demoted years ago. He has around 13-15,000 posts ATM and is a super moderator now. And I've seen screenshots of that forum's staff lounge having announcement threads devolve into spam pits right before my eyes.

PokéCommunity is full of anything but hypocrites.

I've been on so many where the veterans get special treatment and it's a shame. If a new person gets a ban for something, then so should anyone else who performs that punishment.

I've seen way too many communities get ripped apart from bad staff and I always hate it so much. I'm currently the server moderator of a game that I play and I believe that everyone gets a fair say before any action should really be dished out. I like people to voice their opinions as I think that's what makes a community successful.

My experiences with such social calamity have bettered me for handling my own forum. How could I not turn a negative experience into a positive outcome?

From what I hear, back in the day the PokéCommunity itself experienced a lot of this clutter and confusion. That is, until all the other site admins and their staff got demoted and Steve reigned supreme. :3

Anyone like amusement parks? I have a fear of heights so roller coasters don't have me on it very much. In fact, its more of the Final Destination fear thing for me. I don't want to risk the coasters falling apart while I'm on it, which would lead to my death. -_-

I like them, but it's been years since I'd last been to one though. Three, I think… or maybe four. Either way, it was a long time. Can't seem to remember what my last ride was, buuut I'm guessing it could be a roller-coaster. When I'm in amusement parks, I try to never miss out on them, so… yeah.

Yeah I love them!! I go to King's island every summer! It's an amusement park about 45 minutes from my house. :)

I love roller coasters. In fact, I wanted to be a roller coaster designer until I realized that I hated math...

Anyway, I'll ride any roller coaster out there and my local amusement park has four. One of which is the first modern roller coaster to go through an inversion (where the train goes upside-down). It's not a replica either, it's the original coaster itself. It's pretty neat to ride it now and think about how it was an engineering marvel and the scariest coaster around and now some people don't ride it because it's too boring.

Yeah surprisingly it takes a lot of engineering to become a roller coaster designer.

I would love to go on a roller coaster someday, and I honestly had the option to when I was at Busch Gardens in Florida on a class trip one time, but I couldn't because of doctor's orders with my a condition to my heart ._. I'd rather not go into details though.

I never go to roller coasters before, but I heard from the others that it's thrilling and fun. I'm unsure if I'll try it out though.

There are two reasons I don't like going on roller coasters...

Fear of heights, and me getting motion sickness. It effectively limits the options I have on amusement park rides.

In fact, when I went to Sydney's famous Luna Park the only attraction I could really stand without getting dizzy or sick was Coney Island. Thankfully it's got really big slides and I loved going down the slide a lot in my childhood when I went to the local park.

I've been one like 1 roller coasters in my life and it really wasn't the scariest one ever. It was at the Six Flags here and it was called The Ninja. I'm not sure about going on any more though some of the other at Six Flags look too intimidating to me.

I'm sure the ride for me to be intimidated about is SheiKra at Busch Gardens Tampa.. it's got a 90°-drop 200 feet up in the air, and it's floorless too.

That's the sister coaster to Griffon at Busch Gardens here. Everyone keeps trying to get me on Griffon but I haven't gotten the nerve yet, haha.

I just started riding roller coasters last summer, so I'm still trying to work my way up to the bigger ones. I'm also just starting to build up my tolerance to drops, and the bigger ones are still really intimidating - I'll probably try Alpengeist or Apollo's Chariot next once Busch Gardens opens for the season.

In my opinion there are so many moderators over here (not in a negative way), that I pretty much see them as everyone else, as normal human beings and such

I never road a roller coaster in my life before. I mean, it sure seems like heavy fun and such and I wouldn't have a reason not to ride with one, yet I just never did for unknown reason :/

I've heard of Griffon before, and I've seen it before as well when I went to Williamsburg in the summer of 2011. Is Griffon floorless too like SheiKra? Originally SheiKra had a floor, but that was removed in 2007, around the same time that Griffon opened up.

That's really how our staff tries to be, is as close to a normal member as possible. We definitely like interacting with the community to our best extent, to show that we aren't discipline machines. :)

I both like and dislike that the staff on PC are promoted members. It's certainly better than the staff on forum I previously used, in which the moderators almost never spoke to anyone. At the same time, it can be a bit awkward to have your friend infract or suspend you, eh?
I can't think of a good signature.

Oh yeah I can imagine that being awkward. It's like they're you're friend so they might be lenient on you most of the time , but it's their job to infract any wrongdoings so they have no choice in that situation. Though fortunately for me I've haven't had that happen even if I do have good friends on here who have been staff members.

It is. I think they actually removed the floor on SheiKra when they built Griffon - I don't think the floorless train for that type of roller coaster existed when SheiKra was originally built.

Sometimes I'd go on an IRC channel, pop in and say hi (being new) and all the regulars and ops would either shutup until I leave or tell me to stfu or gtfo, like I'm automatically stupid because I'm not one of them.

That's what I like about the Battle Server chat. I don't even have - but everyone still talks to me like everyone else. :D

This applies to me every time I say "hi" or anything like that in the chat in BF4...
although maybe because most people are rather frustrated because I might be better than them

The battle server chat is amazing. If you go in there and you're new, they welcome you. That's how my experience was over there, and it's been a keeper for me to stay around.
