I don't need to use WhatsApp. Google Voice SMS is free here in the United States if I ever need to send SMS messages :p

I don't understand the reason behind people with phones using WhatsApp. Someone please explain this to me sos!!!!
Yes, texting not only isn't unlimited, it is expensive. The amount of data that WA uses is ridiculously small so, even with limited data plans, WhatsApp is a great way to communicate with other people on the go. It has replaced regular texting because of that. It is also very helpful to communicate with people in other countries. No long distance fees. It is basically texting in places where texting isn't unlimited. Besides, the interface is great.

and i will love to see that day
that day is mine

It's good knowing people are happy to have a phone even if it isn't a smartphone with tons of apps. I have no phone myself. I haven't had the best financial situation to keep a phone. My dad has a basic government issued phone and it's the tiniest phone I've seen. It has no apps and only can text and make calls. He gets a certain amount minutes of text and calls for free, but that's all he needs pretty much. I on the other hand, would need more than 250 minutes since I'm sure I'll be texting a lot once I get a phone lol. So an app like WhatsApp or Snapchat will be good for me. When I do get a phone , I'll probably just end up with a smartphone since there's barely any basic phones left in the marketplace.

You'd actually be surprised at how many feature phones are still on the market, and how many manufacturers are still producing feature phones as well. They're in a minority nowadays for production, but they still exist for those lower-budget people.

Well I know there's still many basic/feature phones out there, but like you said, it's the minority. Though I also feel I'd need more than calling and texting hahaha. I used my apps a lot when I had my iPod touch.

Those phones also exist for those who refuse to move on to the latest in technology...as well as for the elderly who want to adjust to technology. It's there for that reason. :P

I have a smartphone, but it's one of those older generation ones, so it doesn't have 4G capabilities or any of that. I love how I have it set up, though; I have just one page on my home screen and it's not just a wall of apps (thank God for widgets).

My mama's phone's so dumb you gotta match the letters to the numpad! (Yeah, I know, lame.) She won't let go of her flip phone that still has a Carolina area code, so yeah… smh.

That's exactly why my dad's happy with his government issued phone. It was free to get and texting/calls are free until he uses his minutes up and plans are cheap so when he does run out of minutes, he could still afford to keep it. I definely see the market for basic phones still.

The biggest downfall to smart phones, is that to get them cheap, some companies require a two-year internet contract, and you can't cancel the internet no matter your situation. I'm kind of financially bad off right now, but it would cost so much to cut my phone's contract that I can't downgrade. xD; I've always found that to be a lot of bull. Like, if someome needs to downgrade, and pay for a cheaper phone, let them do it.

You end up paying close to four times as much with those 1 cent phone contract bull♥♥♥♥s, maybe more. Why not (God forbid) take the energy to save up $500 rather than fork out ~$1000 in phone bills and contracts?

It depends on how much you use your phone.
Some people just like calling and stuff. Others need the whole shabang. Certain contracts fit certain people!

Really? o.o I don't think any of the contracts in Canada are like that where customers are basically forced to additionally sign up for internet, sounds kind of unfair \: My current contract is 3-years, but since I changed phones 6 months in, I had to pay off my BlackBerry Z10 to get the iPhone 5S for nothing, which was like $400. I changed phones twice within a year OTL Thankfully my sister pays for most of my phone bill, which is $50; had to change plans and add additional $15 worth of extra stuff so I had to pay her that.

Phone plans, huh? I play $40 a month for unlimited talk, text, and
data. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.
Damn you paying $5 less than me for the same stuff D:<

Social networking site is like Beer, once you drink it then you'll be a drunkkkkk forever!
And some of us find the beer absolutely revolting and convert to wines such as PC.

Hooray!

I don't drink alcohol or do social networking. Well, I make weekly trips to facebook when I remember, but that's just about it besides PC.

For me, social networking is pretty good, but beer is not.
