Cool! I had so much fun at my highschool prom. More fun than the graduation a couple of weeks later, even. And I was cute in my dress and hair. Never had such curly hair before or after that.

Well, for me too... Because I had too much to drink in the morning so in the evening when we were supposed to be all party and joy, I was hungover 8D

Haha Ashley <3 Because I edit the fonts or sizes or alignments every other hour or so, something xD The era where I could keep the exact same theme for a long time is apparently gone.

Speaking of themes, why are you so naked? You and Jamais alike.

What's wrong with my boring old signature? Is the Froslass sprite not exciting enough for you?

And I had a fantastically fantastic avatar for a few hours earlier today. Hopefully I can get it back sometime soon.

Prom at my school is a rip-off. Last year it was $50 a person, no meals at all, which is why I went to the military ball hosted by our ROTC regiment, which was $25 for one, $40 for a pair, with a hot sit-down meal with real napkins and rolls and everything.

This year the military ball is $20 for one, and $30 for a pair, and prom tickets are $60 now... same meal schedule. Basically you could take yourself and seven other people to a sit-down meal with a dance floor and billiards for the price of you and your SO to the school cafeteria. Sounds like a deal, doesn't it? \o/

Did the venue for your prom change from the past year to the current year? It could have just been the cost for the place to host an event that caused the prices to go up (even still, your backup plan sounds like a waaaaaay more fun way to spend your money. Prom is completely overhyped.)

Do you go to a military school?

Everybody whined about my prom (we call it a formal here) but I thought it was super disrespectful to all those who put the effort in to plan it. I had a great night myself, I got to dress up all snazzy-like

Nobody really goes to proms over here, maybe either because they're rare or because everybody is just too lazy to put insanely much effort into outfit etc. for only one night and such

Weed is another thing I'd never touch. I know it's healthier than cigarettes and is used for medical purposes, but it's just not my thing. I've always wanted to try Cards Against Humanity too. Combinations like this make it seem like a blast of a game

Spoiler:

Also semi-related note: I see those vapor pens all over my campus. It seems like a lot people have them at my college. It looks like a good way to smoke without spreading nicotine in the air and also help you quit smoking if you want to.
Cards against humanity, i always wanted it. My friend has it and we played like a month ago, had a blast and won 2nd place lol.

When i saw Pewdiepie and his girlfriend playing it, he did a card that said:

"When i was tripping on acid, ________ became _________." He did "white people" and "black people", so in the end the result was:

"When i was tripping on acid, white people became black people." I couldnt stop laughing.

And we have no proms in my highschool, which i don't care because i couldnt get a date anyway.

I go to a public school, but it's federal rather than state because it's for military kids. In lamen's terms it's annual budget is over six times that of the city I live in. :P

Our military ball is always hosted at the Elkhorn Catering and Conference Center on our Army base, while prom is hosted on school grounds. Last year there were tons of people I knew that straight up didn't go to prom because they didn't have $150 for tickets and dinner for one night. We got that for a third of the price, plus it was real food.

I think my only complaint about the military ball was the chicken on the bone; neither I or my date fancied it. And that's just us :P. Everything else was stellar.

Eh, my prom wasn't that enjoyable either \: The food was sub-par; only thing worth paying for it was the dessert >>;; It was a chilly spring day and the theme they had going that year wasn't that great.

My high opinion of the night was likely because of the person I shared it with. Biased, I am. ;)

Our next military ball is a month and a half from now on April 12th, and I'll likely be spending it alone.

Prom was a blast for me! For the people I asked to prom I liked to make it special for them, not just a simple "will you go to prom with me?" you know? I liked to make things memorable. I had a friend who lived a few towns over from me so I couldn't ask her in person to prom, so my senior year of high school over Facebook I asked her with a picture of me dressed in a banana suit with a sign asking her. How do you think I did? (sorry if the picture's a little big)

LOL. That's so cute! :D Making them hearts race with your overloading sweetness. My prom date did nothing of the sort, and he was also my boyfriend at the time XD To be honest, I don't really care about the way he asked me, but slightly special would have been appreciated >>;;

I enjoyed my prom. Literally everyone from the senior class was there, whether they were single or not. Everyone had a good time as well.

I remember at the military ball we had a mosh pit going to some of the songs. Imagine a bunch of girls in dresses and heels and a bunch of guys in Class B Army Service Uniforms doing that. XD

I was the boring person in school who didn't even go to prom. Didn't have anybody I knew who would have gone with me, alas.

(Also, I just...didn't want to go. Big social events, especially at night, tend to stress me out after a while. Staying home and just relaxing sounded much better to me at the time.)

Can someone explain to me what 'prom' actually is? I've heard it a lot but never figured out what a prom entails, haha. Perhaps it's just something we have a different word for over here.

It's basically another ploy that our school systems have to swindle us out of more of our money.

Essentially it's just a very formal dance. Men wear tuxedos and girls wear long galant dresses, and usually the school will rent out a ballroom or something fancy like that to host the event. High schoolers will sometimes go the event in a limo and dates will usually exchange flowers or corsages with one another. Also, prom's usually host a dinner there as well. But that's basically the only formal thing about it. Other than that it's still mostly a sweaty, loudly bumpin' music grind-fest that high schools host.
