What am I looking at?
You're looking at my thread in the Creeper Encyclopaedia.

Who's Twiggy, exactly?
Well... Twiggy's me. Or something distinctively me. You might know me as ♪Twiggy♪ if you've been around since a few months ago or longer. Something to do with me and then-love with fancy Unicode characters.

You might also know me as Noivern or some other assorted nicknames just in case you weren't confused enough.

Either way, right now, I'm a 20-year-old Computer Science foreign student living in Singapore (with the occasional break, from time to time, in Malaysia and/or other countries).

How did you find out about PokéCommunity?
I got here from Bulbagarden. Somehow.

How did you get into Pokémon?
It started with a Game Boy Pocket and Pokémon Red. Yep, it's that simple. I wasn't around for Pokémon (or, rather, gaming in general) for quite a while, until we got a Game Boy Pocket. The thing used AAA batteries which are quite small in terms of run time, but they do work pretty well at playing what they are supposed to play.

I also have the anime to blame. :3

How did you get interested in computers and tech in general?
Elementary, my dear. :3

Long story, well, it actually started with a passing interest in PCs and how they work. I actually first wanted a PC because of all the games on PC that wouldn't be possible on then-current console hardware, being a kid and all. The first PC was probably quite the expensive thing to get, seeing as it had to run everything in 2001 decently, but it was worth it. Who knows how much time has been wasted on the PC?

I started to poke around with Windows apps and its own internals when I started getting on some PC- and tech-centric magazines (Remember 56K? Me neither. Back then, it's easier to get a physical book.) and enjoying the odd gem out of all these software CDs - back when publishers could afford to do so. Sometimes these apps do the strangest things on the old PC, but, hey, it was something to tinker with. I actually started to love Windows if only because of the app ecosystem, even though I haven't really started using the Internet yet. That, and how everything seemed to "just work", even when the system is running Windows 98 Second Edition.

I don't think my passion for everything tech have ever died down over the years, either.

What computer(s) do you use right now?
I use a Toshiba Satellite P840 as my main PC. It doesn't have a long running time on battery, and the display is just another TN panel, but everything else works really well together with Windows 7. I actually use the laptop to get things done instead of just chilling out and having fun, so having a good keyboard and trackpad is something that I look out for in my laptop purchases. I actually demoed the laptop in question in a store with a short keyboard and trackpad test, just to make sure that it's what I want to get.

The laptop has seen a HDD replacement to get significantly faster boot and application load times by virtue of a hybrid disk drive. The original 750 GB laptop HDD wasn't exactly the fastest kid in the block, and being able to take advantage of solid-state memory helps a lot in reducing load times for a lot of things. All this helps in reducing frustration because you don't have to wait so long for a laptop to boot completely from a cold start and become usable.

I also use a Surface in case a laptop is not practical. Usually, it involves long commutes in public transport and/or long hauls.

Why a Zorua instead of Turtwig?
I felt like it's a good time for me to change themes after running with a Turtwig for so long. It's probably more interesting in the long run if I could go with other themes if need be. Besides, it also lends itself better to monochrome schemes when needed. The reds make a good accent to theming, too.

What, or who, is your favourite music artist or band?
If you haven't noticed from my signature, it's Katy Perry. I don't even know when I started liking her songs, but I guessed she was quite the hit after Hot N Cold came out on radio and started playing pretty much every day.

I decided to buy two of her albums about a month ago from the time of this post, and I don't regret that decision at all. She's pretty versatile and can cover a lot of ground when it comes to styles. She... just works.

Feel free to ask any questions here, but if possible, keep them not too "local" or personal, so to speak. If you ask about anything, I'll reply to it as long as it's within the implied "rules", but these answers won't be within the original post.

I know we exchange the occasional weird VM conversation every once in a while, but I thought I would ask a couple questions here.

What do you like to do in your free time? I kind of doubt that messing around with tech and playing pokemon is all you do. Any projects or anything big you're working on or plan to in the future?

Pretty OK, but once you live in Singapore for a significantly long amount of time, well... you kind of want to migrate.
