Griefing

How do you feel about griefing/trolling in video games? Have you had any experiences with it?

I used to have the time of my life on Call Of Duty by going around and team killing everyone in sight. The rage fueled messages and death threats that I received were what kept me going (and loling). Blocking people in corners of the map with my shield and not letting them out. Ah good times.

I've been on the receiving end of it too but I never took it personally. I think people are a bit too uptight and serious when it comes to online gaming, but that's what makes them such fun and easy targets. {XD}

Ahaha, I don't really troll myself, but, my friend used to do that on certain FPS games too, and the reactions from the gamers playing were pretty hilarious which makes it worth it, imo. :3

But eh, when it comes to LoL, I don't know, I have more fun aiming to win a good game with good players, instead of playing in a trolly game.

Yeah it's not something I do with all games. But some games are just begging for griefers to run a muck.

GTA 4 was another great game for trolling. Pretty much every co-op mission had numerous ways in which you could sabotage them and prevent people from ranking up. For example killing Petrovic whom you were meant to get to a safe zone, or blowing up the getaway vehicle with explosives, and my personal favorite: driving off with Petrovic yourself while leaving your team mates stranded at the airport to die from the swat team so that only you would get paid for completing the mission. You could really get creative with that game. ^_^

Too bad they nerfed a lot of the fun in GTA 5. You can't even kill people in free mode now without getting penalized in some way. Kind of lame if you ask me.
You can. You just cant blow up their cars, thats all, but you can just kill everyone in free mode without those penalties
Well a lot of the time people are in their vehicles or in passive mode. Not to mention the "bad sport" system that gets you booted from the regular server if you don't play nice with others. I also hate how you have to pay for pretty much everything you use: cars, weapons, ammo. It's ridiculous! I bought GTA to have fun in free mode, not to grind through mission after mission just to obtain the basic essentials that you need in order to do anything worthwhile in the game at all.

I troll a lot in StarCraft II...randomly cheese because I felt like it. In other words, I just early rush, goof off, and do whatever. Maybe hide buildings, too.

In FPS, trolling is the most fun thing to do. Especially with a 12 year old kid that gets mad real easily. I'd always go for that specific kid and hear him rage over his mic and telling me that he f*cked my mom last night xD

But in MoBA games, I tend to go for the win because I don't wanna receive a penalty and such. It could hurt my gamin hours when I wanna be serious. Also I don't wanna be stuck in that game for like 45 minutes.

I used to troll in Smash Bros Brawl's online mode. I'd pretend to be part of those dumb "taunt parties" and then, after about one or two of those, destroy them all and crush souls. It mostly involved me hitting-and-running. xD

My character typically used for trolling was the orange shirt Lucas.

I don't mind griefing but I usually end up being the one messed with. I have a fairly hard time of controlling my temper online, and I don't have the patience to actively grief someone.

And no guys, you're not "trolling" if you're playing horribly and trying to play it off as a simple joke. Most people can see through it.

I personally don't troll myself but my cousin who is obsessed with FPSs, (Mainly Call of Duty), likes to troll people. Some of the reactions are hilarious; especially ones from Squeakers or short-tempered players.

I suppose griefing/trolling is a given with most multiplayer games. I usually ignore it and find another lobby or have some fun and try and get them back. (The latter not usually working ahah.)

I don't really care when people screw me up and it's obvious that they're just messing around. I tend to lose my temper when they actively insult me or make me look like a lousy player in general, which I'm insecure about.

Depends on whose definition of trolling, really. In Dark Souls for example, I rarely invaded others; however, I was invaded (or co-oped with others who were) frequently. If the invader took the time to bow, I took the opportunity to stab him in the back. I got a lot of hate mail for it saying it was "un-sportsmanlike" at best, but if you're coming into my world you're playing by my rules.

Now Battlefield on the other hand, I would actively troll for the halibut. I'd do stuff like put a bunch of C4 on the tail of our helicopter, then wait for it to take off with a full load of teammates. They get high up and BOOM. Suddenly they're in a tailspin and crash. Got kicked from a few lobbies for that one :P

Valve games I troll the hell out of. I know how to prop kill efficiently and I have scripts to crash servers by using lua codes. I also like targeting people or a group and listn to them squeal over the Mic telling me to stop. What I do on there can get a bit harsh maybe cyber bullying but if they want to buy weapons and place them where I can steal them then its not my fault they get angry. I also invert my microphone and play annoying music and follow people.I mainly troll on garrysmod.

If I see my chance of trolling anywhere I will take it, FPS are hilarious to troll in, all those 7 year olds screaming out slurs like its the only thing they know how to say. Older players usually ragequit, enjoy it, or just get pissed.

I don't exactly enjoy griefing very much when it comes to survival games, I just can't.

There should be a signature here somewhere.
I wonder where it's gone.
