Right so I've always liked ghost pokemon, have some of this team waiting in black if pokebank ever comes out....

But as folks may know, hex has has its BP boosted from 50 to 65, doubles when enemy has status.

So I was thinking of making a mostly bulky ghost team designed to take advantage of this and spread status around the enemies team then fire off hex, as even with modest SP.Att, a 130 BP move is nothing to sniff at. So without further adieu, here be the planned team...."A hex on you!"

1) Sableye AKA: Torment
Item: Focus sash
Nature: Calm
EV's: 252HP, 252 Sp.Def, 4 Def (might split this to 128 on each)

Moves:
Will-o-wisp
T-wave
Recover
Foul play

2) Cohagrigus AKA: Sorrow
Item: Leftovers
Nature: Quiet
EV's: 252 SpA, 252 HP, 4 Def

Moves:
Nasty Plot
Hex
Will-o-wisp
Hidden power fighting

3) Dusclops AKA: Tribulation
Item: Eviolite
Nature: Bold
EV's: 252hp, 252 def, 4 SpD

Moves:
Curse
Night shade
Pain Split
T-wave

4) Spiritomb (Infiltrator) AKA: Terror

Item: Blackglasses
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 Att, 252 HP, 4 SpD

Moves:
Shadow sneak
Sucker punch
Will-o-wisp
Hex

5) Gengar (mega) AKA: Dread
Item: Gengarite
Nature:Timid
EV's: 252 SpA, 252 Speed, 4 HP

Moves:
Hex
Sludge wave
Thunderbolt
Focus blast

6) Chandelure AKA: Anguish

Item: Life orb
Nature: Modest
EV's: 252 SpA, 120 HP, 8 SpD, 128 Speed

Moves:
Heat wave
Hex
Hidden power fighting
Energy ball

I'm not a big fan of Hex because it isn't a good move competitively, since it relies on the opponent being statused; otherwise it's very weak. (65 base power isn't anything special)

Sableye should use Will-o-Wisp as its status move. Thunder Wave isn't worth bothering, and it's not worth giving up the utility of Taunt for. Keep your current EV spread; splitting defensive EVs isn't worth it.

Cohagrigus is best played as a Trick Room attacker:
-Trick Room
-Nasty Plot
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power (Fighting)/Will-o-Wisp
Nature: Quiet
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SAtk
Item: Leftovers

Dusclops is very weak offensively and must rely on Night Shade or Seismic Toss for consistent damage. It's not worth putting Hex on, heck, I don't think it isn't worth putting on the team.

You're seriously wasting away Spiritomb's trapping utilities for the sake of Hex? That's not worth it; Spiritomb can't even learn Hex at all:
-Sucker Punch
-Pursuit
-Shadow Sneak
-Trick/Will-o-Wisp
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 248 HP/252 Atk/8 SDef
Item: Choice Band/Black Glasses/Dread Plate

Fire Blast > Heat Wave (or Flamethrower) on Chandelure. The extra power is definitely welcomed and 85 accuracy is acceptable.

I appreciate this is a bit of gimmick/not very competitive team, I just like to have a bit of fun with it sometimes and see how it goes.

My only concern about removing T-wave from sableye is that I've noticed more fire mons hanging around at the moment (zard and its megas, T-flame, blaziken (on wifi) etc), which I obviously cannot burn. But yeah missing taunt is bad, guess I'll go with taunt on it. Especially if as discussed below Dusclops goes out for Jellicent?

I'll probably leave Cohagrigus as is for now and just try it out.

As for dusclops, I had put night shade and not hex, but I appreciate the point. Visually I dislike it the most but I thought since this is a bit of a defensive team designed to spread status around, it had its place. What would you suggest replacing it with? I don't want to use Rotom as it loses its type in any form. I was thinking of maybe..

Trevenant or Jellicent? If I wanted something else bulky to fill a similar role to Dusclops.

Jellicent might be an idea, with say...
Nature: Calm
EV's: 252 HP, 220 sp.def, 36 def
Item: ??? Hell maybe a weakness policy haha.
Scald/Water spout
Toxic
Recover
Shadow ball/hex

As for Spiritomb I wasn't aware it couldn't learn it tbh but I see your point. I'll give your suggested set a go.

Chandelure wise, since fire blast is down to 110, is the 15bp worth the 5% drop? I know 5% isn't a lot but...sometimes it's the difference.

Jellicent's a good ghost type. I'd go with Leftovers as the item and Scald over Water Spout. Jellicent is very bulky, but that doesn't mean it has to use Weakness Policy (especially since its offenses are very average without investement). Ya sort of stall with Jellicent. As for Water Spout: Jellicent isn't Kyogre. Water Spout is HP dependent, and since Jelli is tanking hits, Water Spout's power is a bit diminished.

Trevenant's good too. It runs a set something like this:

-Trevenant w/Sitrus Berry
Nature: Impish
Ability: Harvest
EVs: 252 HP, 172 Defense, 80 Speed
Moves: Will-o-Wisp, Substitute, Leech Seed, Shadow Claw/Phantom Force

Something like that.

And if Fire Blast's accuracy really bugs you, Flamethrower is the other better option over Heat Wave. Has 100% accuracy, same base power, more PP. Heat Wave is really only used for Doubles.

Only thing is atm Cohagrigus has the leftovers, but since this team is half bulk/status spread, then a few others to take advantage, Jellicent makes sense. But obviously as I say it couldn't have leftovers unless cohagrigus dropped it, which I don't think is a great idea.

Trevenant is interesting too, I've also seen some nice looking rest sets as well.

Yeah I sort of thought scald might be better but I was drawn to the bp of spout, since as long as it's above 55% hp, it's superior to scald, but the burn chance of scald is probably better and its a more reliable move.

Ah I hadn't used Chandelure last gen and bulbapedia doesn't list it has learning flamethrower by TM, so although weird I thought it might not for some reason, makes sense it can lol.

Blissey w/ Aromatherapy/Heal Bell, Togekiss w/ Heal Bell, and Celebi w/ Aromatherapy and p much every other Pokemon out there that can run a status removing move is a bane to your team--most notably Blissey since most of your Pokemon are special-based + immune to most of your attacks. Getting a physical based attacker is really a good thing. If you still want to continue along a mono-Ghost team, then Aegislash is a pretty good Pokemon to consider.

Also, you're already running a monotype team (with horrible synergy, I might add)--don't ruin your team more by running a gimmick on each and everyone of your team. :/

Honestly I don't expect to be shooting up the rankings with this team, it's more for wifi/free battles, rating battles a bit but being like 1550 I'm too noob to have run into teams sporting the likes of which you mention.

I suppose the special attack bias is a bit of an issue, if I used Aegislash, who would you remove, one of the bulky mons (Cohagrigus/Jellicent) or Mgengar/chandelure? Also the only issue which comes to mind is that isn't the physical Aegislash set quite predictable? I mean would using something a bit less commonly seen like golurk be a better idea? (I could transfer one from gen 5 to gain tutor moves). Though I suppose things are commonly used for a reason..

People use specially-based Aegislash more often these days, though physical variants are still viable. I'd take out Cohagrigus if I were you:
