What ghost type pokémon do you think is the best designed and has the best idea behind it?

NOTE: we'll disregard Gengar/Haunter/Gastly here because apparently they are PC's favorite pokémon already ;) So you have to choose something other than one of these three!

Gasp! Gastly, Haunter, and Gengar are off the table?! Awww.... :pink_giggle: haha

Misdreavus and Mismagius are easily my second choices after the Gastly family. Shuppet and Banette are close as well; and Sableye counts too I suppose.

Do you mean best as in my personal favourite or do you mean best considering stats, movepools, typing and whatnot?

Aside from the original Ghost trio (Gastly, Haunter, Gengar), some of my favourites are:

Froslass (damn, that design)
Jellicent (with Water Absorb is pretty handy!)
The Litwick trio (so darn adorable)

Chandelure is probably my favorite Ghost Pokemon. I just love its design.

Too bad that it's kinda frail in competitive (read: it has too many weaknesses). The only way for it to be usable is use Minimize a few times, which is generally avoided, even though it's not really unfair in Chandelure's case.

Froslass is one of the few post-Hoenn Pokemon that I've consistently found myself using, and I'd go as far as putting it in my top 10-15 favorite Pokemon. Something about its Ice/Ghost typing and the design really gets me.

Aside from that, Shedinja, Drifblim and Rotom are a few more Ghost types that I like, but they're much lower on my list than Gengar and Froslass.

It's Chandelure for me. Now I'm not saying this just because of it's awesome design (which, after the initial scoffs people grew to love this chandelier) or because of the Pokémon Conquest Chandelure. Not even because of the awesome competitive battling capacity (Trick + huge SPattk). It's because of a combination of those, and that we get this fire-type in Unova and she helped me a lot, my Lampent. I love the way it's designed, the classy chandelier look and the spooky flames complete a royal ghost look. The special Ghost/Fire typing allows a wider range of advantages, though not ignoring the various weaknesses Chandelure has spawned. The low point on Chandelure is that the low HP base stat tag, but that's negligible considering the amount of fire-power this Pokémon possesses.

A close second is tied between Duskull and Shuppet, for resons that they are really cute (in a way), their evolutions are really useful and the mere fact that they're available in the Hoenn region.

Aside from Gengar, I also love Chandelure. This thing has helped me through Pokemon White, White 2, and Volt White with its high Special Attack and versatile movepool. Not to mention that it's kinda cute!

I also really like Jellicent, Trevenant, Sableye, Spiritomb, Drifblim, Froslass, Mismagius, and Dusclops.

Aside from Gengar, I really like Duskull. It wears skull as a mask, which, to me, looks quite awesome. Along with Duskull, I also like Dusknoir. I've always had one of these Pokémon on my team since gen. four, and it never disappointed me. It's a great tank; it could take hits from your opponent pretty easily and hit back even harder. Besides these two, I'm a fan of Chandelure as well.

I personally favor Sableye. It's a Dark-type, it looks cool, it only has 1 weakness, and it can cause havoc with Prankster.

To tell the truth, I never liked Gengar that much. I mean, it's cool and all, but growing up with 3rd generation I've always preferred Dusclops and Sableye.

You may never guess this but...banette.
I have always like creepy toys or things based off of creepy toys. Plus I've always had a weird feeling in the back of my mind that everything has some sort of sentience too it. So the idea of banette being a toy brought to "un-life" by a grudge is awesome. And apparently the idea here is a "folklore" already established as I've seen it in other stories.

These three are my top Ghosts.

Jellicent is one I've been a fan of during B/W and I love how it has an interesting type combination, plus who doesn't love royal-looking jellyfish with cute eyes?

Chandelure has always been my go-to Ghost in 5th Gen, it always had to have a spot on my team because I love how it's a powerful special attacker and it looks so beautiful with its ghostly purple flames. It was definitely a great candidate to introduce Ghost/Fire typing.

And lately I seem to have been loving Aegislash. I remember when Honedge was first revealed and I had mixed thoughts on the little sword but once this thing was shown via a screenshot someone leaked when they broke street date I instantly fell in love with it. It also has loads of good sets to play around with thanks to its unique ability. And I also love petting mine in Pokemon Amie every now and then!

Excluding the Ghastly-line I would say:

Froslass
Shedinja
Phantump-Trevenant
Duskull-Dusclops-Dusknoir
Shinies Pokémon X: Dugtrio (Random Encounter), Clawitzer (Chainfishing 24 Streak), Gible (Acidently MM After 14 Eggs), Shroomish (MM After 210 Eggs), Treecko (MM After 42 Eggs)

My favourite Ghost Pokemon of all time is Gengar. Other than that I like Giratina and Chandelure for their designs. A chandelier Pokemon might seem like a ridiculous idea, but the design is really good. And I like using Aegislash, Gourgeist, Giratina and Trevenant in competitive battles.

As for looks, I personally love Jellicent (especially female ones) but in terms of usability I believe Gengar is the best Ghost-type. It's a shame that I must trade if I wanna get my hands on it.
Boilurn, the Scald Pokemon and the evolved form of Hottle. It can burn the holder by the lightest of touches when it boils. It can boil 3 gallons of water in one minute.

Gengar, definitely.

Base 130 Special Attack, base 110 speed. Take that. And really epic smile.
