Ah! Another psychology student! I'm a former student :P But I've been in that program long enough to say that that was honestly the
single most annoying thing someone could ever ask me. I understand that people generally have this idea of psychology being the study of the brain, but that's not entirely it. We study why people behave the way they do, not necessarily isolating the brain from the body. It irked me when people thought I could "read minds" and put me on the spot by asking, "What am I thinking right now?" /rant over.
Ehh, I'll do you one better. At least people can say
something about psychology, incorrect as it may be. When I tell people what I study I just get either blank looks or "...sooooooo you wanna be a doctor?" (that's so wrong it's almost offensive, btw) and urrgh can't be arsed explaining it the whole time, haha. I study medical biochemistry which... I'd think would speak for itself (biology + chemistry in a medical context, surely? To make it heavily simplified at least) but apparently not!
Anyway, mine!
"What accent is that?" - it's not really annoying, just kinda tedious to explain. My accent is a bastard child of several from the British Isles, so it's understandable, but still.
"Are you drunk / high?" - okay, so I get drunk and / or otherwise... inhibited quite a lot, sure. But sometimes people seem to have a weird tendency to presume I'm drunk when I say something in a confusing way or without thinking first. Pretty irritating.
"You're colourblind? So you don't know what colour this random thing is???" - no, no I don't.
"But you mentioned [x thing] having [y colour] earlier!" - ~context~. Seriously. So many people ask me to prove that I'm colourblind, then decide to go ahead and challenge it anyway and I'm just like... why?? On this note I have messed up facial recognition stuff
(reading material!) and I get similar things with that.
and the worst of all...
"I know it's not been the time limit yet but can you change my username?? - no. d:
There are others outside of that but I'm not an easy person to annoy, so they're not really springing to mind right now.
