I'm a sucker for statistics, whether it be sports, or more pertinent, music. It seems kind of shallow to listen to music just for the play count, but I'd honestly be devastated if somehow my iTunes and all the data was erased. But there's so much more behind the numbers. I feel like the greater the play count, the greater the journey you've been on with that song. Sometimes I stop listening to certain songs for a while, but then I see the ridiculously high play count and remember why I obtained that song in the first place. And now that I got a last.fm (thanks Ace), keeping track of what I've been listening to lately, etc., is convenient and more detailed, although I still use iTunes for overall play counts since I just recently got last.fm.

Anyways, do you think play count matters? What's your most played song and at how many plays? One day I'm gonna add up all the counts and calculate how many days I've spent listening to music.

I'm... indifferent. It's not among the information I have displayed in my track list on iTunes. I don't really appreciate music as art, it's just nice; like how someone may enjoy driving but not be into cars as such. Most played on this install of iTunes is Hishō, apparently composed by Yasuharu Takanashi for the Naruto Shippūden Movie, at 77 plays. It loops very well, actually.

I love statistics, but my play count is off due to changing computers and having to start them from scratch. My last.fm is my best record of play count though, unlike my iTunes. Looking at my iTunes, you wouldn't know how often I listened to De-loused in the Comatorium, for example. I got that album when I still used my PC. So if you popped that open and checked, you'd be like "oh damn wow syd you really liked that album" but looking at my iTunes on my MacBook, you'd think I didn't care much for it.

But yeah, I do care about that kind of stuff. I don't exactly know why, cause it's not like someone's gonna judge the number of times I've listened to something as opposed to how I express my interest in it, but still.

Edit: Oh right, statistics. Let's compare last.fm with my iTunes for fun.

Last.fm most listened to tracks overall:
Spoiler:
1. Helena Beat - Foster the People (246)
2. Man Down - Rihanna (205)
3. Wicker Chair - Kings of Leon (186) (weird that's not even close to being a fave tho)
4. The Way - Ariana Grande feat. Mac Miller (161)
5. Inertiatic ESP - The Mars Volta (160)

So, iTunes top five:
Spoiler:
1. The Way - Ariana Grande feat. Mac Miller (159) (VERY close to last.fm in that regard!)
2. April - Hello Mexico (132)
3. The Cave - Mumford and Sons (126)
4. Baby I - Ariana Grande (118)
5. My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark - Fall Out Boy (99)

So yeah, if anything, my iTunes is a good way to know what I listened to a lot in 2013 lmao. Last.fm has been keeping up with me through two laptops, an iPod, and two iPhones. It knows me best.

Same here. The most played song on my Itunes is 'Till I Get There' by Lupe Fiasco, 32 times. I don't really listen to music much on the computer though, mostly with my Ipod while training or at work.

I'm big into statistics and things like that. However, I've never been the set person with a computer, someone's always had it at a time or I shared the iTunes so it seems to get altared. Like my most popular song is a Googoo Dolls song cause that's what my friend's sister listened to 1000000 times when she came over before. So it's hard to really tell.

God I listen to music on so many different devices, I'm not sure what songs I play the most. Whether it be on Pandora, last.fm, my Ipod Nano or my iPhone it's different.

I don't listen to rap much now but I was obsessed for the past two years. I remember Gang bang by Wiz Khalifa was popular as well as Say Yeah by him. Now though I'm more into rock, so I'd say Aerial by SoaD and Fading by Decypher Down are up there on my top played tracks.

I used to be really invested in this and I got annoyed when I lost my plays on itunes after switching laptops so what I've started doing is creating a scoring system at the end of each year. Any songs in top 25 plays score 3 points, top 50 2 points, top 100 1 point and then I use that to conclude who I listen to the most. Once I've got a few years together I'll add it all together and see how things have progressed. I keep screenshots of my top 100 plays when I reset the plays again on new year.

Obviously I only have a month worth of plays now so far so it isn't really worth going through what's around the top at the moment.

Statistics don't really matter to me, because, well, they're nothing but numbers. What matters to me most is how much I actually enjoy the song. Anyway, if I had to guess, though, my most played song would be Lose Yourself by Eminem. Usually don't listen to rap, but something about his songs just have some sort of a special feel to them, if that makes sense. The guy's quite genius, in my opinion. :P

I have unintentionally restarted my iTunes play count numerous times because of either reformatting or re-downloading the program ;___; There was honestly no point in keeping count of my song plays other than to show my obsessions at the time XD I'm not invested in trying to keep track as much anymore.

I really like stuff like this.

I use Spotify to listen to all my music, so I can't really tell what my most played song, however, a week or two ago I was intrigued by this same question, so I linked last.fm, and so for the past week or two, I've been letting my plays build up, and heres what I've got.

1. Monster - Skillet (41 Plays)
2. Outlines - All Time Low (34 Plays)
3. King For A Day - Pierce The Veil (32 Plays)
4. Kidnap The Sandy Claws - KoЯn (27 Plays)
4. White Rabbit - Egypt Central (27 Plays)
5. Narcissistic Cannibal - KoЯn (26 Plays)
5. The Legacy - Black Veil Brides (26 Plays)
5. War of Change - Thousand Foot Krutch (26 Plays)

Most Played Artists -

Spoiler:

Black Veil Brides - 206 Plays

Pierce The Veil - 171 Plays
All Time Low - 103 Plays

Thanks for mentioning last.fm guys, I didn't know I could use it for this purpose. Since it totals for each artist it's a lot better too.

Supposedly Coldplay, Nas and Drake have been my most listened to artists so far in 2014 by far.
