For those still in High School or anyone who remembers, how is your school lunch? Ours is atrocious, most kids bring their lunch. The only decent part is the pizza and it's because it has stuffed crust (mmm, stuffed crust). I know it's not the school's fault in entirety, but they complain that the lunch is not bringing in enough revenue to the school. That's because most of the kids don't enjoy it.

I freaking loved cafeteria food. I brought my lunch, and since I was lazy it was usually like a slice a bread and a piece of dead animal(s). But whenever I got to buy, I went all out. I honestly would take it over the dining hall food they got here.

First two years of high school: DOMINOES PIZZA AND FRIES ALL DAY ERRYDAY. Oh and we have salad and taco bars as well, but legit everyone went for the pizza and fries.

Last two years of high school: It was decent except for Sloppy Joe Fridays. I go for the A La Carte every Friday because I AVOID Sloppy Joe Fridays.

I usually brought my lunch in high school (and still do), but sometimes I forget and a teacher gave me money or a lunch pass or I have money of my own and decided to buy lunch instead. The lunch at my school was decent. The burgers were rubbery , the fries were too soft most of the time and sometimes cold. The hot dogs weren't bad. There were two things that made school better and that was the pizza and buffalo chicken strips. They were dipped and sauce and only costed 75 cents each so you can get a bunch of them at a cheap price and get more than what you got for a burger and fries. Cafeteria pizza always seems good and so whenever they had it and I was buying lunch, I'd try to get it if I could.

I haven't really gotten the chance to try the diner food at college except the burgers and hot dogs which are okay at best. When I have more money though, I'm definitely buying lunch at school one day.

I was technically supposed to pay $1.50 everyday for lunch, but would always steal it. :3 The lunch itself was actually rather good, must admit. Rice, beans, pizza, burgers, they had a lot of good stuff. Or perhaps I'm just easy to please, haha.
he did it, not me.

Well that explains the American obesity epidemic. Most Australian schools don't have sit down cafeteria's and students are expected to bring their own lunch. I always brought my own lunch because the small canteen we do have had long lines and 'meh' food. You could get pre-warmed stuff like a burger, bag of chips, lollies, maybe a paddle pop (ice cream). Apparently it has improved a bit with sandwhiches, yoghurts etc and more variation but I've still not gone there.
I hear you, I normally get off the bus early run to the shops and prey I don't get caught buy 2 litres of coke for 1 dollar and that's my lunch, I live off it that and orange juice. I normally have a packed lunch that I sell off to other kids so I can buy like an up and go or something a but more yummier, I'm actually underweight for someone who eats a lot of junk.

When I was in high school, lunchtime was at the last period for me, so I would usually just skip it and head straight home. One time, though, I did have breakfast there as I was too early, and it wasn't so bad. There were milk, cereal, cheese-strings, fruits, and plenty of other stuff. :P

bring my own lunch to school which usually consists of a sandwich (Vegemite, salami and cheese, ham and pickle etc.) some fruit, (usually strawberries, grapes or a nectarine) along with a muesli bar and a bottle of water.

Sometimes I buy things from the canteen, they sell quite a variety: chicken and lamb kebabs, hot chips, potato cakes, fried dim sims, fruit salad, salad rolls with a choice of ham, salami or chicken, apples, caramel slices, chicken nugget rolls, chicken wraps and much more.

Al a carte at a school? Well, that's unusual.
Sometimes, you're better off alone.

School lunch for me was attrocious, even the pizza. What's bad enough was that my mother was making me buy school lunch because she was afraid that bringing my own lunch was going to be warm by the time I ate it.

Sporadically though, I brought my own lunch to school from home when I was in high school, and it didn't taste warm at all, but it was also borderline cold and borderline warm by the time I ate it.

I don't remember our school lunches being very good so I'd always brought in my own. Hated eating at the cafeteria, too, so I'd just hang in a teacher's classroom and eat there where I can be undisturbed by super loud noise. :3

I never really ate school lunch, I never ate while in school. What I did was buy it for the reduced 65c price, drink the water and sell the empty bottle to one of the many kids with a chewing tobacco habit for a dollar or two, and then sell the rest of the food (easier on some days than others, pizza was an easy one) for a couple bucks as well. Profit.

I don't even know about my school. I only eat two things. Pizza and chicken sandwiches. We have two lines in the cafeteria, one serves whatever they have, and the other always serves either pizza or chicken sandwiches. I don't want to know what my school lunch is truly like.

In elementary and middle school, I'd eat chicken nuggets or pizza. For some years, I brought a lunch bag and ate snacks or leftovers. The cafeteria food was pretty gross. Jello was a delicacy.

In high school, I would ALWAYS eat the pizza. The only time I did not eat pizza was because they were out of pizza. I didn't have friends to sit with most of the time, so I'd hide out in the library studying. Then, I'd go eat when I had about 10 minutes left. Some days I severely miscalculated the time it took to get through the lunch line, and on those days, I just ate the pizza in 5 seconds and rushed to class. So, I'd say it was a pretty good pizza to keep me content for 4 years.

We had pretty generic fast food stuff (at least, those were my favorites - pizza, burgers, fries, mm). We also had salads and sandwiches, but that's generally for if you were too slow in lining up and all the burgers and pizzas were gone lol.

There was also a daily special and "TBA soup", those were pretty good too.

Dessert-wise, I always liked it when there was jello or canned peaches. During summer school they served awesome ice cream, too, it came in the skin of the fruit the ice cream was made from, like if it was pina colada(sp?) ice cream, it would come in half a small pineapple. c:

Suffice to say our caf food was actually pretty popular - like I said, the minute the lunch bell goes off people rush to the caf and line up at the counters so they can get the good stuff.

Now I've been out of high school for nearly nine years now, but I don't recall ever thinking our cafeteria food was gross. I ate it every day without complaints. XD

College campuses however...the only things there that are even good are the things that are sourced in from local fast food joints. XD

Wow, your guys lunchs sound horrible. xD

I loved mine, maybe I'm bad with food, as I like TV Dinners to. The mashed potatoes and chicken nuggests were the best! French Dip, Penne Pasta, I miss going to school for the food. Then we also had an al a cart that served pizza, chicken burgers, corn dogs, burritos. Then we also had a student store for top ramon and ect which was pretty popular.
The lunch was popular, people hardly brought their own, half usually went to the safeway across the street.
