Clearly both desktops and laptops have their advantages but despite that, we all have personal preferences that push us to pick one over the other. Do you prefer desktops or laptops? Why? Perhaps you enjoy gaming on a desktop or instead are someone who prioritizes portability? Discuss!

Desktop for gaming. I'm not about to shell out money for a gaming laptop, just can't afford it. Pricing being equal, you're sacrificing portability for power. Besides, this laptop is for work (and PC)! The only gaming I do here is Pokemon Showdown.

Ideally, I would want to be able to use a desktop for everything, but considering I have to bring my laptop everyday to class it only makes sense for me to prefer the latter at this point. Eventually, I'll have my own PC built just for gaming :D

I prefer laptops because of the portability. I can't afford a top of the line gaming laptop, but mine gets the job done.
I don't use "uber" Pokémon, I don't calculate stat values, I don't use cheating devices, I don't breed my way to perfection, and I don't care about natures. I catch my Pokemon the way they are, and treat them like individuals instead of brainless drones. If you use this philosophy, copy & paste this into your signature.

I'm indifferent when it comes to the preference of desktops and laptops. I use my desktop way more than my laptop though because it's my primary computer, but also mainly because I have my tablet.. but laptops and desktops each have their pros and cons.

Laptop. Take it to bed, sit in the chair, put it at the table for dinner. Games don't do well but I don't really play any games. Photoshops and other stuff work fine for me.

And honestly I just don't like desktops anymore, they feel way to weird to use. trackpad ftw.

I like laptops more. Desktops just don't feel very convenient. Last I had a desktop at home was like 2008 or something.

I got this MacBook in December 2012, and I think it's pretty good so far. My first time using a Mac, other than using them at schools and such.

Since mid-2011, I've been using laptops for my primary computing systems, but I do have an older desktop system on hand that I occasionally use and have handy for a spare. Even with this, I actually still prefer desktop systems, as they're more flexible as far as customization, expandability, and serviceability. To change most components in a desktop system is usually as simple as sliding the side cover off, and then gaining access to the component you want to work on, whereas with laptops, to get to some parts, you have to take the whole keyboard off then remove the bottom-which I have to to with mine to even get to the processor!

Been using a desktop for a year now and to be quite honest, I really do miss the portability of a laptop. I'd rather be laying down in bed instead of aching my back while I post this. xD Although gaming is a huge factor between the two, I'd still prefer laptops no matter the circumstance.

Since I haven't used Desktop PC for years, laptops for me.
I use one as a desktop and one smaller for portable purposes.

I really prefer desktops over laptops, mainly because I engage in a lot of resource-intensive tasks (besides gaming) that nice RAM and a nice CPU/GPU combo would benefit. Not that I do much of that now, though, being on a notebook and all.

Once a laptop gets to a "fast enough" point, I prefer laptops, full-stop. All the power with the portability, huh? Something tells me that my next laptop is likely to be some sort of gaming Ultrabook, or at least an Ultrabook that can play games well.

I, for one, welcome our mobile overlords.

I prefer Laptop even though desktop computers are faster I still prefer it since it's much easier to carry around in a bag than having a cpu in my bag xD

A portable device is always the best! Although I'm pretty sure in the near future laptop will ave almost the same performance as desktop computers/

Since I don't do much gaming or resource heavy things on the computer, my laptop's got more than enough RAM and hard drive space to do me for the next few years. I still use it much in the same way as my desktop though- at my computer desk while plugged in (both power and internet) at all times. A majority of the time, I almost forget that it's a laptop, and I can use it wherever I want if I so choose.

At the moment my laptop suits most of my general needs, besides printing which I need to jump on my desktop for. I do most of my computer-based schoolwork on my laptop; mainly because I can sit wherever I want and do my work. Whereas on my desktop I'm stuck in the one spot. I don't play many games on my laptop since I want to keep it running fast, so I use my desktop for gaming. (Desktops are better for gaming anyway imo.)

But yeah, definitely laptops. :)
