Question - Would it be against the rules if I caught a Ghastly, leveled it up to, let's say 45-50? And then hacked in a completely legit Gengar?

Trying to do Poison run on Crystal, and really want/need a Gengar.

Team:

Hooty (noctowl) 45
Pig (pidgeot) 47
Friend (gyarados) 48
Scare (skarmory) 43
Bill (slave rattata) 8 <----- not in e4 battle
Shiny gyarados (whirlpool slave) 30

8/16
Flying runthrough and no Crobat? :(

Firstly, nothing hacked is ever legit, just legal, there is a very big distinction there. Second, if you're able to hack you should just be able to change the species of the Haunter you've been using itself into a Gengar, which is acceptable. If you're using an emulator you can also use the Universal Pokemon Randomizer (look it up) to remove trade evolutions from your rom. If it's a Cart then you can't do anything sorry.

Update on Black 2 Poison; I've tried to update for the last two days now but I haven't had the time to finish it :(

What I did:
Spoiler:

-Beat Cheren with Tepig >:(
-Caught a Venipede on Route 20; named it Centipoid (I'll be lucky if no one gets the reference xD)
-Caught a Koffing in the Virbank Complex named Toffee for temporary use
-Beat Roxie with Centipoid and Toffee >_>
-Did the stupid Pokestar Studios stuff.
-Caught a Zubat in the Castelia Sewers; named it P. Sherman (my trademarked Zubat name after that hilarious incident in Mt. Moon xD)
-Also caught a Grimer for temporary use.
-Beat Burgh with a combination of P. Sherman's Wing Attack and Centipoid's Rollout.
-Somewhere along here, Centipoid evolved into Whirlipede!
-Traveled to Lostlorn Forest to catch a Roselia; got extremely lucky by catching a wild Roserade in the rustling grass and naming it Flora. xD
-Currently in Nimbasa City, about to challenge the gym.

Escaping from Normalcy Part 3

Spoiler:
Oh god I was dreading doing this. I actually didn't play because I was scared of this gym. I was completely fearful of Korrina. But first. Her dang Lucarios. Those nearly trashed me. I only one because of Rolen's ability. One got up to +6 with power up punch and Rolen was just sitting here like "lolwut?"

So I went into the grass and horde hunted for my last team member. A Starly I named Rekima. I at first was upset about it not being HA but I realized it would help me in the challenge ahead. I trained her (Mostly on Luvdisc) and then moved into reflection cave. I kid you not. The first trainer swept me. And that's how I knew how terrible Korrina's gym would be. I struggled through there, and made my way out into the town. Calem didn't prove much of a challenge to me, but that was to be expected. Now it comes to the gym. I had to heal after every battle. Literally. Every. Battle. Korrina herself swept me twice with the friggin Hawlucha of hers. But I prevailed thanks to Rekima's Intimidate. So that was a thing. I got the poison Jab TM for Miron and am now en route to Coumarine. Update likely tomorrow.

Escaping from Normalcy Part 4

Spoiler:
Alright. So I got to Coumarine, and realized how short on money for items I was. I'd constantly run out of healing items. That's no good. Regardless, I did manage to get through the entire gym without having to heal. I don't think I have ever been more annoyed with Acrobatics as I was with this dang Jumpluff. Like, forsrs. I had to stall it out a bit because otherwise I couldn't do anthing. Luckily Rekima once again came to save the day with her Intimidate ability. I feel like my team might just be a little too dependent on it but do I care? Not particularly.

Heading out to the desert, I actually didn't get trapped by pokemon as often as I usually do. I got the Sun Stone for Raska but wanted to wait on using the thing. I made my way through the Power Plant overrun by Plasma goons. I continued to realize that Helioptile is pretty shoddy offensively until you evolve it, but he had a move to learn before I felt good doing so.

Getting to Lumiose, I remembered how the Prism Tower lighting was much more impressive at night. During the day it's just really lackluster. But heading inside I realized two of my members would be at an extreme advantage but... I'm a risk taker. I wasn't gonna let them fall behind because of a little type disadvantage. I purposefully got all the questions wrong because it was actually a great opportunity to grind. I was gonna friggin take it. The MVP in that gym however, was unsurprisingly Tiel. She was pretty nice to use.

I then whooped Calem's sorry butt AGAIN and am now on the route to the the fairy gym. Miron will likely be my best asset with Poison Jab but we'll see how it goes down.

Okay, I am starting anew. I will not stop until I have defeated N.

So I began my journey with a Snivy. Though, I was unpleased as I wish to be a normal type trainer. I defeated my rivals and went to route one where I started my team.

Escaping from Normalcy Part 5

Spoiler:
As I arrived in Laverre I felt a bit at ease. Ready to take on the gym. I didn't realize I would get lost in the gym again (I ended up circling for a good 10 minutes before I remembered where to go). Valerie wasn't as tough as when I did mono-dragon, but it WAS still difficult because gawd. Mr. Mime. I may use one if I do a mono fairy run. That thing is always a pain in my butt. Regardless, I won!

As I travelled I began to wonder. WHY IS THE ICE CAVE FULL OF FIGHTING TYPE TRAINERS. It's an ice cave! Not a freakin dojo! So that place was not fun. Though I DID get to beat up some Flare goons so I suppose it's ok. All the same I cleared that place out, and headed to Anistar. Calem... Calem needs to learn how to be. I drop kick him too easily.

I forgot how beautiful Olympia's gym is. I actually didn't want to leave. Heliolisk did a great job against her too. HEading to Lumiose to begin stopping Team Flare for the last time, I entered the restaurant and the waiter inside did something that REALLY ticked me off. His Scrafty used Facade when I used dig with Tiel to try to dodge a high jump kick, then proceeded to do said kick when I popped out of the ground. And apparently all my normal types have targets on them. THAT. MOVE. NEVER. MISSES. Though... I was able to outsmart Lysandre's Mienfoo/Mienshao. Tricked it into it twice. :D

Made my way through the restaurant fort and actually didn't have that much trouble with the guy with the Malamar. Not since my Zangoose has X-scissor. (lolgetoutmyhouse) So here I am. About to stop the weapon once and for all.

Prospected team: Furret, Togetic, Clefable, Miltank, Girafarig, Ditto

Current team: Furret (Pounce), Togepi (Wonder), Egg

Current Progress:
Caught a Sentret, named Pounce & released Chikorita.
Got rid of Falkner as soon as possible with my level 12 Pounce so I could get the Togepi egg.
Pounce was temporarily taught Mud-Slap, for more type coverage.
Made it through Sprout Tower, easy as pie.
Pounce reached level 15 and evolved into a Furret!
Having a tough time taking out them pesky Rock-types in Union cave, but I'll manage.
Found the TM39 Swift, taught it to Pounce in place of Fury Swipes.
Swift seems to be proving more effective than Mud-Slap on those Rock-types. :)
Made it through the cave successfully, time to eliminate those Rocket scum!
Got rid of the Rockets and saved the Slowpokes!
Got rid of Pounce's Mud-Slap and taught it Fury Cutter after eliminating Bugsy.
Beat my rival, despite some troubles facing his Gastly.
Found the lost Farfetch'd in Ilex Forest and got the HM for Cut, but problem arises... I need an HM Slave!
Caught a Paras and taught it Cut and Flash. Don't worry, this little guy won't be having any battle time.
Two steps after catching Paras, my Togepi hatched! Nicknamed it Wonder.
Now I'm currently using Pounce to power-level Wonder. :)
Retrieved the TM Headbutt and taught it to Wonder, since he lacked any offensive moves.
Made it through Ilex Forest and a kind lady gave me TM12 Sweet Scent.
Caught a Ditto, named Blob. -1 for non-originality?!
Got the Egg from the Daycare Center, really hoping for a Cleffa.
Put Ditto in the Daycare Center, not sure if I'll be taking Blob out anytime soon.

Standing out From Normalcy - FINALE

Spoiler:
Have I mentioned I hate that everything has high jump kick or is a fighting type trainer? Because I do. I really do. I finished off team flare's scheme and began to move to the last gym city. I began to notice that I was a bit TOO underleveled. Even the wild pokemon were beginning to be higher level than I. But I am a daring tigerfox. I didn't let it stop me. I battled on! Nonchalantly making my way to the Pokemon Village (Which, as "unfindable" as it is IS ON THE DANG MAP) I found Wulfric. He seemed persuaded by me and returned to his gym so we can battle proper. I always liked the design of his gym. It is pretty and colorful. As a whole, enjoyable. Kiara, however, made very short work of the poor fellow. I almost felt sorry for him. Almost.

And then victory road happened. It was crawling with fighting trainers. WHAT DO THEY LIKE ABOUT CAVES? WHAT ABOUT A CAVE MAKES IT SO APPEALING. I had to heal far more than I liked because I had fighting types tearing me down every chance they got. It was annoying! But alas, I made it out... limping and dragging half dead pokemon. I healed them up at the pokecenter, restocked on healing supplies and made my way into my final challenge. The Elite 4.

I started with Malva. Her Pyroar gave me a little trouble, but otherwise, she was nothing Tiel and Rolen couldn't handle. Kiara and Miron helped me take down Wikstrom. Raska blew Siebold out of that water, and it actually took an entire team effort, headed by Rekima, to take down Drasna. But I did it. All 4 of them down. But the real challenge was beginning. I still had Diantha to take down.

Her Hawlucha, for obvious reasons, scared me the most, however, Rekima managed to take him down with a fly and take no damage. Rolen got Tyrantrum, but it was a double down. Miron, after a minor complication, took down Aurorus with a single Close Combat. And then came the Goodra. It had an answer for all of my team it felt like. I literally rotated through all 6 mons at least once trying ot kill it, but for whatever reason I did peanuts to it, even with physical hits. I suppose being 10 levels lower than it had something to do with it, eh? Regardless, when it came to the point that it only had muddy water left I just threw in Raska and used his immunity to revive and heal all my pokemon back. And then it proceeded to Struggle. I kid you not. Her Goodra got stalled to the point of STRUGGLING. Rekima took out Gourgeist with a single Fly as well, and then it came down to the Gardevoir. I sighed in relief when I saw its lack of focus blast, making it infinitely easier to deal with than that Goodra. But I still had to do a bit of a rotation to get it down. Rekima actually killed it with a quick attack.

Add in a quick AZ battle and there you have it! My escape from Normalcy! If I had to pick an MVP for the run, it would actually be Rolen or Rekima. They both pulled me out of a lot of tight spots. Or Raska in his performance against Goodra. Not sure.

Water Ultimate Challenge Day 1
Pokemon Gold Adventure Part 1
Spoiler:
A wave of nostalgia hit me as I started my quest in Pokemon Gold today. It was the first time I've played the original Pokemon Gold in at least five years. I forgot how fun it was, and was addicted from the get go. I started my journey at 8:49 PM, and stopped at 1:56 AM. My adventure began in New Bark Town where I met Professor Elm. There I chose totodile and nicknamed him "crocodil". I visited Mr. Pokemon and Professor Oak was there; it turns out my rival, Drew, had stolen a chikorita! I quickly confronted him and defeated him in a battle. And from there, my journey began!

I surfed through the shores of Cianwood City, climbed the ice mountains of the Ice Path and thwarted Team Rocket's plans at the Goldenrod Radio station. All with my powerful team which I have traveled all throughout the Johto region to capture. First, I had received totodile (crocodil) from Professor Elm’s lab. I had muscled through 3 gym leaders with ease, until I finally reached Ecruteak City. With the ability now to surf, I jumped on Feraligtr's back and found a tentacool. Quickly, we weakened it and use a Great Ball to catch it. We named it "donut" because we were hungry at the time. :3

Next, on the way to Cianwood City we were confronted by a group of mantine. They came from us in all directions, luckily donut and crocodil were strong enough to fend them off. Swiftly we caught one and added him to our growing family of 3. I nicknamed him “steve”. Steve would go on to be the underdog of the group, but proved useful in many important battles, such as when we faced off against the Team Rocket Executive at Goldernrod.

The next addition to our team would not come for some time. We were a happy bunch, training often and getting stronger! Everything was fine, until we met Lance and noticed a poor Gyarados was in trouble. There was something strange about this gyarados, instead of its normal blue tint, it was a bright red. It looked angry as well, we had to help this guy out! Quickly on donut's back we swam out to the middle of the Lake of Rage and challenged this gyarados to a fight. Donut was up first and weakened it considerably before the gyarados took him out. We knew that this would be a difficult capture. As donut fainted, I quickly drew out my ace in the hole, crocodil! After many blows from Dragon Rage and Thrash, Feraligtr took many hits but over time but we had weakened the Red Gyarados considerably. After many Pokeballs, Great Balls and Ultra Balls we had finally caught the beast! This was a shiny jewel to the team, and we all celebrated with joy! We agreed to nickname the Pokemon "dragon" because it was majestic, but more powerful than we had seen before.

Lance witnessed the battle, praised us, then asked us to help him investigate the situation. It turned out Team Rocket was causing trouble again. With the addition of “dragon” to the team we thwarted Team Rocket's plans and threw them out of Mahogany Town. Quickly, my powerful team defeated all 8 gyms in Johto, and tomorrow we will be training for the Johto Elite Four then heading over to the Kanto region.

Update time.

Spoiler:

Well I am currently in Virbank. I'm enjoying my time here though the air smells a bit cloggy, probably all the factories here. It doesn't matter much. I was trying to level up Venepede by using the ol' switcheroo technique so Oshawott evolved into Dewott, I've just boxed her though, forever ( or at least until I need a surf slave ), I picked up a Koffing in Virbank Complex but I am genuinely considering ditching him because he is taking forever to level up, like seriously, everything kills him it's pretty annoying, I'm about to challenge the Poison Gym.

The Ol Buddies Ol Pals Ol Friends:

This is Judas :) He's fun to battle with.
Level 19.
Moves: Rock Smash, Rollout, Poison Tail, Pursuit

This is Smokey Joe :) He's annoying as HELL to level up -_-
Level 12
Moves: Poison Gas, Tackle, Smog, Assurance

This is Stacey :) She was good to use but she's sleeping for a while now.
Level 17 ( forever...... ooooh spooky...)

8th Update, Fire Challenge, Black 2:
-ran Team Plasma out of Opelucid City
-Went through the Marine Tube to get to Humilau City
-got Marlon to get his ass outta the water an into the Gym
-went back and explored a few Surf-only areas as well as Seaside Cave
-Became the leader of a gang. No, really, I did. There's this gang that hangs out in Castelia City in a Surf accessible area, and they make you their leader after beating them.
Ya know, I'd have quite the resume in Unova: Pokémon Master, actress, gang boss....
-Took on the Gym. Despite being the Water gym, it wasn't too bad. Chandelure+Energy Ball+being just a bit faster than most of the pokes=win. So I don't have to worry about that anymore.
-Went to Route 22 and got the Colress MCHN (that is such a creative name Colress).

I find it funny how when Marlon asked if I think Team Plasma is evil and I said no, no one seemed to care. Guys, that should've tipped you off that I'm really a Team Plasma operative and are going to shank you when I get the chance.

Final Update for today.

Water Ultimate Challenge Day 2
Pokemon Gold Adventure Part 2: Final!
Spoiler:
Today was a monumental day for the team and I! First we had a rough training session as we plowed our way through victory road. We trained in the cave for about a half an hour before we set off to crush the Elite Four. The guys easily demolished All 5 trainers as we dashed through their Pokemon at a record pace. The stats for after we defeated Lance are above. The only hard battle was the champion battle with Lance, because the dragonite knew thunderbolt. However, I had taught dragon (my red gyarados) icy wind prior to the battle so that he swept the team for the most part. Despite the large level differences of all my Pokemon, everyone performed exceptionally well. After the victory, Professor Elm and Mom congratulated us, which was the best part! No sign of what happened to Drew though. Although he was my rival, I hope he's doing alright. I know that he'll accomplish bigger and better things in the future.

We were happy with the Champion win in Johto, but our job was far from over. Next we had to conquer the Kanto region! Quickly, we battled all of the gym leaders and crushed their teams. On our adventure through Kanto we went excavating with the diglett in Diglett Cave, helped return a missing power plant piece and just escaped the body slam of an angry snorlax. To top it all of we went to visit Red on Mt. Silver. The Mountain was beautiful! I loved the golden tint we witnessed as we were preparing to battle Red. My team was solid, but I wasn't sure if we were ready. We spent over two hours training in Mt. Silver. We faced countless Onyx, Graveler and Ursaring during this vigorous training. After the two hours were up, we were prepared to verse Red! The battle was tough, but each Pokemon did a great job. Crocodile (Feraligtr) took out Pikachu and Snorlax, steve (Mantine) defeated Venusaur and Espeon, dragon (Gyarados) took out Blastoise and donut (Tentacruel) defeated Charizard. Overall, it was a knock out victory! The journey for Pokemon Gold officially ended at 11:12 PM EST.

I finally beat Roxie after one try, Poison vs Poison isn't that fun, though she did keep trying to poison me to no avail. I just used Rollout on my 'pede to get to victory. After defeating Team Plasma for I know will not be the last time I hopped a Ferry to Castelia, I went to challenge Burgh but he was busy so I'm rummaging around in the freaking smelly as hell Sewers with Hugh and my team. It's a good place for Poison pokemon though and I've picked up two new team members :)

The Teamskis: I'm not doing the moves and levels every time because it takes too long.

I gave up on my Bug challenge long ago because I really hate Black 1, but if it's okay, I'd like to try again with a new single challenge! :)
