Strider's Silver Water-Type Update 3: (Azalea Town - Goldenrod City)
Balancing this and my Leaf Green Let's Play is fun.
Spoiler:

Starting off, I pick up the Fast Ball from Kurt for no real reason. I don't like using special pokéballs anyway, I feel regular Ultra Balls work fine.

So here's Ilex Forest. This dungeon is really boring and the Farfetch'd section can be done in no time if you know how to do it, so I didn't take that many screenshots of it.

So I get the Cut HM, but here's the problem: Nobody can learn it (except for tidus but why would i do that).

So then I get a Ratatta. Problem solved, right? Wrong, Ratatta can't learn Cut until the next generation, so I have to backtrack all the way through Union Cave to get a Bellsprout instead.

I pick up the TM for Headbutt, I might use it sometime later. That's pretty much it for Ilex Forest. On the next route I had the idea to let Tifa fight on her own so she'd level up quicker.

Eventually this happened, so instead of going all the way back through Ilex Forest I just go to the daycare and use Bill's box system for free healing, as if we didn't need enough healing points in the game.

This guy fights you if it's nighttime, but it's not so I can't. Shame too, that would mean a bit less grinding.

Yes, Tifa took out this Psyduck all on her own. These trainers are all terrible. Anyway, Goldenrod City!

I don't even know why you'd want Bill's number but I pick it up anyway. Regardless, we have the bicycle now \o/

Then I go fight everyone in the Underground.

Having Zidane is a godsend, let me tell you.

After that, it's gym time!

Poor Zidane took a beating in here. I fight all the gym trainers and then decide to grind up my pokémon for two reasons: First, because Whitney can go die in a fire, and second...

So Tifa and Zidane can evolve. Finally, now I won't have to deal with a useless Magikarp!

So, Whitney. This is gonna be hard, right?

Nope, her Miltank gets annihilated by Zidane. It didn't even get to use Milk Drink once.

13 badges to go! Also the Attract TM, meh.

Next time, we learn about this game's legendary trio? I don't actually know how Gold and Silver go about it.

Team:

Tidus the Croconaw (Lv. 20)
Scratch
Leer
Fury Cutter
Water Gun

Zidane the Quagsire (Lv. 20)
Water Gun
Tail Whip
Slam

Tifa the Gyarados (Lv. 20)
Splash
Tackle
Bite

All my pokémon are the same level now. My OCD is satisfied.

Forum User Name: Darkhelmet
Pokémon Type: Poison
Challenge Mode: (Single, Ultimate, or Freeplay): Ultimate
Game(s): Hacked FireRed, Crystal, Emerald, Diamond, Black, Y

Note about Hacked FireRed: Basically just a hard mode of the original FireRed that I hacked myself, only thing I changed was trainer pokemon lineups, all gym leaders have 6 pokemon, trainers pokemon are evolved to avoid the level 38 Charmander that I know someone on some route has, and the Elite 4 and Champion have far more diverse teams instead of just a single type. Oh, and the Champion is a double battle. So, yeah. If it is necessary to play the original FireRed I will do so (I know it says hacks are allowed on the front page, but I don't know if that would apply to a hack I made myself that no one has ever seen but me lol)

EDIT: Update #1

Started FireRed, chose Bulbasaur as my starter, lost the opening fight to my Rival. Did the normal footwork of running Oak's Parcel back to him, immediately ran into Viridian Forest, caught a Weedle. Trained him up a little bit, went back, fought Rival outside Pokemon League, won that. Got through Viridan Forest, evolving my Weedle into a Beedrill along the way. Got to Brock, completely forgot how easy he is with a grass pokemon since I never seem to draw them in Random Pokemon and Ones that Got Away challenges XD. Brock goes down incredibly fast, start making my way to Mount Moon. Catch a Nidoran Female on the way to Mt. Moon, a Zubat inside Mt. Moon, and an Ekans on the Cerulean side. Picked the Helix Fossil, of course (Hail Lord Helix!) Second Rival fight was a bit harder since in my hard mode hack, the Rival has a Magnemite as his first throw, and didn't have anything super effective against it. Just had to pretty much Leech Seed/Sleep Powder stall to get through him without too much damage.

Nugget Bridge and the trip to Bill's took a lot of trips back to the Pokemon Center, but got through it. Ivysaur rolled all over Misty's pokemon with Razor Leaf, got the TM for Dig, which I taught to Ekans to give him something to hit with. I made it to Vermillion and boarded the S.S. Anne, where I am currently still playing. Current party:

Spoiler:

Oleander, the Modest Ivysaur
Level 25, Ability: Overgrow
Tackle, Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Razor Leaf

Mefitas, the Modest Nidoqueen
Level 22, Ability: Poison Point
Body Slam, Scratch, Tail Whip, Double Kick

Lagann, the Lonely Beedrill
Level 19, Ability: Swarm
Poison Sting, String Shot, Harden, Fury Attack

Zubatman, the Gentle Zubat
Level 17, Ability: Inner Focus
Leech Life, Astonish, Supersonic, Bite

Snek, the Impish Ekans
Level 18, Ability: Shed Skin
Wrap, Dig, Poison Sting, Bite

Will update either later tonight or tomorrow.
Currently working on:

Completed Challenges:
Solo Pokemon Challenge: Vaporeon (FireRed, Crystal)
Triple Threat/Trispecies Challenge: Vaporeon, Ampharos, Arcanine (FireRed, Crystal)

Update #4 - Kanto 4/8
I kind of did this with a blank mind since I have a huge headache from the party last night. I only got 1 hour of sleep and I have school tomorrow, I feel terrible. Good thing to do to pass time until I'm tired and can sleep. Banner in sig again.

Timid Nature @Pecha Berry
HP:81 | ATK:78 | DEF:72 | Sp.A:45 | Sp.D:52 | SPD:66
>Vicegrip
>Rock Slide
>Revenge
>Seismic Toss

-: Made it to Rock Tunnel.
-: Made it through Rock Tunnel barely, nearly ran out of PP for all my useful moves. I could've just dug out, restored and used repels on the way back but I wanted to hold out.
-: Skipped all the trainers possible from the exit of Rock Tunnel to Celadon City. Collected the hidden coins + bought 2050 coins. Played a bit and won exactly enough for Pinsir, 2500.
-: Bought Lv18 Pinsir and named it Rudeus after the character from Mushoku Tensei. The final translation came out in bulk today, I guess it was sort of a 'in honour of my favourite web novel ending' thing but I really like the name Rudeus too.
-: Grinded him to somewhere in the twenties using the trainers I skipped.
-: Fought Erika; Rudeus beat the gym himself but it was troublesome. Victreebel paralyzed him then got OHKO'd via critical. Tangela constantly healed using Leech Seed, Ingrain and **ga Drain while I spammed Vicegrip until it ended him. Vileplume threw weak acids while it was whittled down by Seismic Toss. It was slow but it worked.
-: Recieved the Rainbow Badge.

Johto Pokemon Crystal Massive Update: 16/16, on our way to Mt. Silver

basically, we collected every badge in Kanto and got our free pass to Mt. Silver in preparations for an impossible battle to end this monotype challenge. To properly summarize every other Kanto gym challenged, most of them were cleared using our team's Jumpluff, Magic (ah ah awwwww!), with powerful moves such as Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, and Hidden Power ghost. The only really difficult Kanto gym leader was obviously Blue, who's level and difficulty spike compared to the rest of the game still surprises most other players up to this day.

As a bonus, we also challenged the Rival, Soichiro in Mt. Moon which i totally didn't see coming, but it wasn't a real threat compared to Blue.

UPDATE! CLOSURE!

WE DID IT BOYS AND GIRLS! We did it! We didn't think it was possible, but we thought we were going to lose (again) to Red at Mt. Silver but after some more hard work and leveling, at the expense of the Elite 4, Victory Road, and Mt. Silver's wild tenants, we finally did it! To basically summarize the whole battle, we did our best to abuse whatever built-in advantages we had. I felt that even when at more than 10 levels lower than Red's party, we could beat him as long as we removed the number one threat on his team.

VS Red.
Spoiler:
Pikachu:
We led with our party's ace and strongest attacker in Cheleene, our Meganium to start things off with Red's signature Lead, Pikachu. Pikachu beats the fully evolved Meganium in the Speed department so it used Charm in order to reduce Attack and for it to not be KO'd with Earthquake. It tried to hax with Thunder after but luckily for us, there was no Paralysis and Pikachu got hit it alla dat with another -2 Earthquake.

Venusaur:
After Pikachu being KO'd, Red weirldly sent out Venusaur. I switched out to Calitrilolz the Exeggcutor in order to deal with it with Psychic but because i switched out, it used its free turn to set up Sunny Day and proceeded to spam Solar Beams, weirdly enough. Calitrilolz, even as a fellow Grass type, took a lot of Damage with Saur's Solar Beam. 2 Psychics later, it was down. But the worst came to be.

CHARIZARD aka HELL ON EARTH INCARNATE LVL2!:
Exeggcutor stayed in so that I can freely switch in something to stop this monster from sweeping our entire team. One flame thrower later, it was gone. Even if Exeggcutor had full HP, one Flamethrower would still defeat him. But as soon as our eggs got scrambled, we sent in Magic the Jumpluff and we prayed that we won the speed tie and the sleep powder... and after one good prayer. Magic, being the magical Jumpluff that she is, outspeed the much higher level'd Charizard with Sleep Powder, finally neutralizing a threat that could have ended our run. One Leech Seed later, Charizard was finally fully neutralized. Weirdly enough, Red wasn't using his Full Restores on his greatly crippled Charizard but even if he did, Magic would outspeed him once again with Sleep Powder. After putting Charizard to sleep, we proceeded to slowly but surely melt away his health with whoever could hit Charzard while it was asleep and seeded. However, Charizard would soon wake up and KO 2 more pokes on our team, but Magic once again came in and used Sleep Powder and proceeded to KO him with Hidden Power Ghost!

Espeon
Weirdly enough, Espeon outspeed Magic who did the remarkable of outspeeding a much higher level'd Charizard. But it used Reflect instead of an attack move that could have dealt a large amount of damage. But with Sleep Powder and Leech Seed, once again it was neutralized. Magic tried to wittle it down with Hidden Power Ghost but she didn't have enough Attack to make good use of HP Ghost, so we switched out to our powerhouse Cheleene, and used his HP Ghost and Razor Leaf to finish off Espeon.

Snorlax
Red has the Gen 2 god with him, but with 4 of his teammates down, even the Gen 2 god cannot carry the heavily crippled team. I didn't want to risk Cheleene getting Bodied by Snorlax so we switched out to another of our team's powerhouse attackers in Moopz, the Victreebel. After surviving a Body Slam, we fought back with a critical Sludge Bomb out of nowhere and we used our own Sleep Powder against Snorlax in order for it not to use anything. After one more Sludgebomb, Snorlax was down and Red was down to his last Pokemon...

Blastoise:
yep, the Gen 1 starter that is the easiest to take down, though it has Blizzard to fight back. Moopz stayed in as fodder for Blastoise's Blizzard and we once again proceeded to the best member of the team, Magic the Jumpluff and in order to try putting Blastoise to sleep. However, fate tried to troll us and we missed that important Sleep Powder, but fate being such a big troll, also decided to let Blastoise's Blizzard miss. After getting hit with Sleep Powder and Leech Seed, we switched out to Cheleene and proceeded to repeatedly use Razor Leaf in order to finally bring closer to my month long Tri-Regional Grass type monotype challenge.

Team Leafa 2/6
Red 0/6

It was a 2-0, but that was a much better choice than being 0-6's by Red's Charizard

Final Team, Levels, and Comments:
Cheleene, 63 @ Softsand
Hidden Power (Ghost), Earthquake, Razor Leaf, Headbutt
= Chelenne was our team's Ace helped much of the Pre-Kanto content of the game, such as stuff the likes of Whitney, Pryce, Clair, and some members of the gen 2 Elite 4, Lance, as well as the Rival Battles. One of his highlights was soloing the Rival in Victory Road. he ended up having 4 attacks and no status moves in order to punch holes at the enemy trainers' teams with the moves he had on his set. That Soft Sand was needed in order for EQ to deal more damage than Razor Leaf, since EQ was a much more useful move on his set than any other move, aside from HP Ghost.

Moopz. 62 @ N/a
Razor Leaf, Sludge Bomb, Sleep Powder, Growth
= Much like Chelenne, Moopz got to see a lot of action during the pre-Kanto story and became quite the heavy hitter when Sludge Bomb came along.

Calitrilolz, 61 @ Leftovers
Psychic, Hidden Power (Fire), Reflect, Sleep Powder
= Undoubtedly having the best 2 attacking moves for this run and 2 useful status moves as well. Calitrilolz was the one who stepped up when critical parts of the game needed to be cleared, such as the Gen 2 Elite Four (Koga and Bruno in particular).

Magic 62 @ Leftovers (MVP!)
Leech Seed, Sleep Powder, Mega Drain, Hidden Power (Ghost)
= THE MVP! It took me a while to find a Hoppip but once i found that lucky Hoppip somewhere, she became the MVP of the post-Johto storyline and was pivotal in our team's conquests. Spreading Sleep and Seeds everywhere, Magic (Ah ah awwwwwww) was a threat that didn't need heavy damage attacking moves to put opponents on their knees. She was also unusually bulky due to the way Gen 2 works while having Leech Seed and Leftovers sustain. Magic was responsible for the takedown of 2 of the most threatening Pokemon that we have ever faced in this run, coming from 2 very strong trainers: Blue's Arcanine, and Red's Charizard. Without Magic's support, our team could have never won this game. To anyone who says that Supports cannot carry, Magic was blessed with Madlife's powers of carrying a team of damage dealers with extremely good support moves.

Jakkie, 53 @ N/a
Slash, Spore, Fury Cutter, Cut

Bushy, 54 @ n/a
Stun Spore, Growth, Mega Drain, Hidden Power (Ice)

I have nothing more to say with the last 2 members of the team. Jakkie, being a Parasect meant that her only useful move was Spore and her crippling weaknesses and slow speed just made her dead weight for our team. She had her moments but not enough for the Kanto content of Gen 2. As for Bushy, he had his moments as well but not anything special other than chipping away Red's sleeping Charizard with HP Ice.

Strider's Silver Water-Type Update 4: (Goldenrod City - Ecruteak City)
Was my brain dead while I was playing or what?
Spoiler:

Wasting no time, let's go to Route 35.

Replaced Tackle for something a bit more useful. Yes, Tidus still knows Leer, don't question my choices.

Picking up the TM for Rollout and the Quick Claw, which I give to Zidane because he's slow as hell (oh the irony).

Raichu looks scary in this game 3:

So I get to the Sudowoodo in the way, completely forgetting that I didn't pick up the squirtbottle yet. Back to Goldenrod!

Yes, the Sudowoodo doesn't like the bottle itself, not the water inside it. Must be really tacky.

So I get to Ecruteak City, where Bill invented a time machine and nobody seems to care.

More importantly, we can now get an Eevee from him. Of course, I need a Water Stone to use it, but Gen 2 is atrocious with those. There's a trainer on the route east of Ecruteak who gives you those, but he only does it in Crystal. Trading is out of the question since I'm using an emulator, and so is Mystery Gift, so I can't actually get Water Stones until I get to Kanto. So if I wanna use Vaporeon, I have two options:
1. Use the Eevee now and have it learn no water moves when it evolves
2. Wait until I can evolve it and level grind it 30-35 levels for it to be on par with the team.
tl;dr No Vaporeon for me. Whatever, let's just beat up the Kimono Girls instead.

Zidane learned Amnesia so he can now be even tankier than he already was.

Hello there Surf HM, I believe you'll be very useful to me. I teach it to Tifa for now so she has a STAB move.

Still feeling salty after the Vaporeon business, I catch a Pikablu Marill instead.

Screwing around in the Burned Tower, we run into everyone's favourite redhead. I'm ready for you this time, bastard.

Like so. Then he talks about fighting me being not a challenge despite just getting demolished, what? I didn't get anything of note in the Burned Tower because, surprise surprise, I forgot to get the Rock Smash TM. We'll come back later. In the meantime, let's go to the gym!

The theme here is me getting paralyzed by Lick before I can do anything. Also the gym trainers' pokémon using Curse and killing themselves, making it completely pointless.

Along the way, this happens. That didn't take long.

Whatever, let's just fight Solid Snake already.

So I got lucky when I fought Whitney, will I do as well here? Well, not exactly, I was getting pushed around by his Gengar until Zidane came and destroyed it. Zidane is pretty much the MVP of this run so far.

So the Fogbadge is ours, as is the Shadow Ball TM, which none of our pokémon can use. Thanks Snake, now go and tell Kojima to come back to Konami. God knows, they need him. After that, I screw around in the Tin Tower for a bit, but we can't do anything there just yet.

Instead, I finally get the Rock Smash TM and teach it to the Ratatta I caught earlier.

So now the legendary dogs are roaming Johto, no doubt to come in at the worst possible time, I'll bet.

Next time, hopefully my brain will actually work and not forget everything.

Team:

I didn't spend much time on this, VBA suddenly went to 600% speed so it went by very quickly. I'm nearly done I guess, 3/4 the way there. I didn't feel like making a post about it but it's past midnight so I might as well not postpone it.

Strider's Silver Water-Type Update 5: (Ecruteak City - Cianwood City)
Special double feature today because I didn't take that many screenshots and because you can fight Jasmine immediately after Chuck.
Spoiler:

All right, let's go. This is sure to be fun.

And fun it is indeed. Rydia's behind everyone else in the team right now so I figure to catch her up on this route.

Rollout is the best move ever. Rydia was very accurate with it throughout this update so she ended up sweeping quite a few teams.

Obligatory move learning picture out of the way, we make it to Olivine City.

Getting the Strength HM, which I teach to Tifa later. Not my best idea in hindsight, but I'll live.

Yay lighthouse, moving on.

I get the Good Rod, not sure if I'll use it yet though.

So because we can't go to the gym right now, I just surf down to Cianwood City.

It involved a lot of this. (comic sans ftw, screw the haters)

I get the Shuckle that I stuff in a box never to be seen from again, and some secretpotion from the really shady guy. Winners don't do drugs kids, they do secretpotion.

And because there's one here, it's gym time! Tifa really shines here, being part Flying type.

Tifa crush puny Poliwrath, Tifa strongest there is.

The Stormbadge is ours, as is the Fly HM, which I teach to my Pidgey that I caught earlier.

Here's Jasmine, she gave me some trouble but I eventually beat her Steelix with Rydia.

Mineralbadge GET. Also the TM for Iron Tail, which I might teach to someone later.

Only two badges to go in Johto!

So I literally finish writing the update and the site goes down, so I have to rewrite a big chunk. *cries in a corner*

Team:

Tidus the Croconaw (Lv. 28)
Bite
Scary Face
Fury Cutter
Water Gun

Zidane the Quagsire @ Quick Claw (Lv. 28)
Water Gun
Tail Whip
Slam
Amnesia

Tifa the Gyarados (Lv. 28)
Dragon Rage
Strength
Bite
Surf

Rydia the Azumarill (Lv. 28)
Defense Curl
Tail Whip
BubbleBeam
Rollout

Tidus is SO underwhelming right now, being a starter and all. Don't be surprised if he knows Surf by the end of next update.

Spoiler:
I didn't spend much time on this, VBA suddenly went to 600% speed so it went by very quickly. I'm nearly done I guess, 3/4 the way there. I didn't feel like making a post about it but it's past midnight so I might as well not postpone it.

Signing up a new challenge:

Forum Username: Xin ZhaoYun (Formerly Mega Xin Zhao)
Type: Steel
Game: Platinum (with a minor mod where all trade evolutions are removed, so its still Platinum)
Challenge Mode: Single
Extra restrictions: Set battle mode throughout the game, No use of healing items and revives in trainer battles.

I'd like to sign up for a new monotype run. Though I'll do my best to be more active because of major academic requirements such as Thesis proposals and alla dat. Its a way for me to celebrate my recently completed Tri-Regional Grass type challenge and the minor Gen 1 Normal Type monorun.

Nice, I feel like Scyther would be more popular than Pinsir but I'm glad it gets some love too. Just curious, how was going up against the E4 with bug's? I'm dreading the worst. I think Pinsir and Parasect will be able to carry the team somewhat well during the tough parts.

Update #7 - Kanto 7/8
I really dislike the water part of this game, the entire trek from Sabrina to Blaine is a little too boring for me. I managed to push myself through it, if I leave it too long I'll have trouble returning to it.

Day 1: 21/05
-: Explored the Safari Zone; collected a few items, TMs, Surf and the Gold Teeth
-: Took a Hitmonchan from the Fighting Dojo to use for Strength.
-: Took Squirtle from the PC to use for Surf.
-: Took Farfetch'd from the PC to use Fly.
-: Beat all the trainers on the water routes.
Day 2: 22/05
-: Entered the Pokemon Mansion. Seriously had so many battles it wasn't funny. The encounter rate must've been super high because every 8 steps was a battle. I fought anyway because I'm going to need the experience desperately later.
-: Collected the Secret Key. I realised Sludge Bomb was post-game and taught Raku Return instead. Seems like a decent choice, having Endeavor might have been a better move but we'll see in time. Return is working wonders at the moment.
-: Fought Blaine; Rudeus OHKO'd Ponyta, Growlithe and Rapidash. Rudeus landed one Rock Slide on Arcanine but got OHKO'd himself. Akiyama landed a Toxic then got OHKO'd. While Blaine wasted his turn using a full heal instead of a Hyper Potion due to the Toxic, Raku finished it with Hyper Beam.
-: Received Volcano Badge.

ICE MONOTYPE [FIRE RED OMEGA]

I have finally completed the ice monotype challenge on FR Omega! No champion battle this time around - I was fiddling around with settings on emulator and unfortunately I managed to screw up some visual properties and everything became very flashy so I decided not to share a video like that D:

Anyhow:

Hall of fame:

Spoiler:

Final Team:

Asante|Male|Gentle Nature|Keen Eye|Lvl 71
Brick Break
Icy Wind
Beat Up
Slash
I liked using him because he was fast and slash did some damage -though I really hated the lack of physical moves I could add to his moveset :(

Ellie|Female|Lonely Nature|Oblivious|Lvl 71
Earthquake
Strength
Blizzard
Rock Slide
I loved using her! She was such a monster, dishing out hits left and right and taking on a lot of attacks eating them up like there's no tomorrow <3

Shadow|Female|Careful Nature|Vital Spirit|Lvl 70
Fly
Present
Water Pulse
Aerial Ace
Shadow actually surprised me - she could take some hits and take out a lot of pokemon - Though I really really disliked the fact that she could only learn Present without TMs >_<

Nickey|Female|Hasty Nature|Oblivious|Lvl 71
Ice Punch
Mega Punch
Ice Beam
Psychic
I always liked Jynx's typing and she was a good addition to the team- I loved using her, even though the first two gyms were kinda boring because she pretty much soloed through them.

Kania|Female|Bold Nature|Thick Fat|Lvl 70
Ice Beam
Rest
Surf
Take Down
I loved using her - I used dewgong before and I loved her as always <3

Elsa|Female|Brave Nature|Thick Fat|Lvl 70
Aurora Beam
Surf
Ice Ball
Body Slam
I loved using her too she was awesome tank! Taking hits like there's no tomorrow :3

I don't care about EV's or IV's - I play for fun not competitive.
I don't own consoles - I play on emulators on my computer.

Update #4: Grass - Platinum
I might have been a bit (a lot) overleveled for the Elite Four, but I really don't like struggling through it and depending on getting crits and not getting crits against, etc. I still didn't one-shot everything and Cynthia's Garchomp was a level higher than (most) of my team. Grass is, dare I say, my least favorite type and it still is, though I do like some of the Pokémon I've used as they've really surprised me.

Strider's Silver Water-Type Update 6: (Cianwood City - Mahogany Town)
I played through this some time ago, but didn't feel like making an update until now, sorry. Also you'll notice Tifa doesn't know Strength anymore, that's because I lost my savefile and had to fight Chuck and Jasmine again.
Spoiler:

Going back to Union Cave because we have Surf now and can explore the rest of it.

Also because of this Lapras here.

So Rinoa here is pretty drastically underleveled compared to the rest of my team, but that shall be fixed by the end of this update.

I teach her Surf so she has a good move for now.

And now for the journey to Mahogany Town. Not much really happens, honestly.

So in Mahogany this douche is blocking the gym door. I wonder if Lance pays these people to make getting badges that much harder so he can be champion forever, he strikes out like someone who would do that to me.

So instead, let's just go to Lake of Rage.

Yeah, this isn't normal. (This guy also had one at level 10)

Rinoa is still behind everyone else and she already has the highest HP total, that is awesome.

blah blah shiny gyarados blah. I just got a legit shiny while recording my Leaf Green Let's Play, this is not impressive.

So now we go through the Rocket Hideout, and Lance helps out by making us fight all the people there instead of doing it himself because he's the goddamn champion.

Skipping ahead a bit, we beat up everyone in sight except Silver because he's having a moment.

Lance "helps" by fighting the grunt and leaving the stronger executive to us. I wouldn't even need you if this were Gen 3, you bastard.

Rinoa learned "I win" button!

And now we have to fight the Electrode, that didn't go too badly since they were wasting their time on using SonicBoom.

Whirlpool HM, yay. Let's just go beat Pryce already.

Tidus tries to be competent, key word being "tries".

Not much to see here. The Glacierbadge is ours, and the Icy Wind TM.

And now Team Rocket takes over the Radio Tower to... Beg Giovanni to come back? That part of the story is bad and you should feel bad.

Not much to see here either.

At this point I get fed up with Tidus and Zidane only having Water Gun and teach them Surf.

So in the basement I run into Silver again, except that I forgot to heal up my pokémon, whoops.

He still goes down easily.

So we rescue the Director who could very easily sneak past the grunt and go back through the department store.

And now I can catch Lugia whenever I want.

Next time, we fight Lance's even more annoying little sister.

Team:

Tidus the Feraligatr (Lv. 33)

Fury Cutter
Surf

Zidane the Quagsire @ Quick Claw (Lv. 33)

Rydia the Azumarill (Lv. 32)

I found my old save file on Pokemon XD, I am doing a water monotype. My final update will be when I am finished with the story (i.e. defeat Greevil after encountering Shadow Lugia).

Right now I have Vaporeon, Sharpedo, Quagsire, and Dewgong, all at L37-38, with Spheal (L31) boxed.

Update #9 - Kanto Complete
I fought the E4 twice, the first time at all Lv50 where I only made it to Lance before being destroyed so I ended up having to grind for a few days :/ Well, it's done either way~. It was fun. Rudeus was MVP, Raku was LVP. 200th post was this, fitting since most of my posts are about this challenge.

Elite Four Round 1: Lv50
Spoiler:
-: VS Lorelei; Mostly used Raku's and Rudeus' Brick Break to fight. Sento spent forever trying to beat Cloyster and finally managed.
-: VS Bruno: Got lucky with some good misses on his part and two key critical hits against Machamp and Hitmonlee. Sento, Tadokoro and Akiyama helped defeat all of them. Rudeus got some hits in.
-: VS Agitha: Got super lucky against Gengar's Double Team + Hypnosis jank which allowed me to barely win with Tadokoro being very useful w/ Psychic.
-: VS Lance: Gyarados? No problem. Aerodactyl? All my problems exist in this one abomination.
Elite Four Round 2: Lv58
Spoiler:
-: VS Lorelei; I was a little bit reckless because of getting a little bit cocky about having high levels after grinding. Brick Break was useful once again.
-: VS Bruno: Tadokoro + Sento handled this well. Giga Drain for the Onix's, Aerial Ace + Psychic for the fighting types.
-: VS Agitha: Didn't have trouble again but mostly because I could rely on my pokemon all being usable. They could take hits, Tadokoro and Akiyama handled the ghosts.
-: VS Lance: Aerodactyl got destroyed by Rudeus, payback. The Dragonite was a pain because of Outrage OHKOing pretty much everything until he got confused. I came out victorious though.
-: VS Rival:
===> Pidgeot; Rock Slide by Rudeus x2
===> Rhydon; Spore from Sento, Giga Drain x2 by Tadokoro (second one was a crit ayy)
===> Arcanine; Earthquake by Rudeus x2, short gap in between while I revived Rudeus after he was OHKO'd via Flamethrower.
===> Venusaur; Psychic by Tadokoro x4, the first two were healed by my Rival but I got a crit on the fourth Psychic, bypassing anymore of that bs.
===> Alakazam; Raku attempted to hurt it, died immediately. Tadokoro beat it with a Psychic after Akiyama had landed a Toxic.
===> Gyarados; Rock Slide by Rudeus x2, second one was a crit.

Also as a little compilation thing; all my signature pictures

-: Began my playthrough; named myself Crackin again.
-: Chose Totodile so I could use him for Surf later + Meganium is easy to fight.
-: Named my rival Rival. I'm so god damn original.
-: Caught a Lv2 Spinarak and named it Gon after the character from Hunter x Hunter. I haven't watched or read it in a while but I remember hearing the first ED (Just Awake) on a video very recently and thought of my boy Gon.
-: Caught a Lv3 Caterpie and named it Takechiyo after the character from Classmate, Kamikura Yuuka. Usually my Caterpie's end up being female so I was surprised I got a male one this time. One of the characters in that manga comes to the conclusion that he was a female in his past life and starts acting the part so that came to mind. Seemed fitting enough, even though that character is pretty minor. I might change it to Take later but I have his full name for now.
-: Grinded to Lv7.
-: Completed the Sprout Tower.
-: Fought Falkner; Gon took out Pidgey with Poison Sting spam. Takechiyo fought Pidgeotto for a while by spamming Confusion, healing with potions after two hits and then waiting for the opportune time. It was in the yellow and I literally just managed to land the confusion status the turn before that, so I took the risk of relying on RNG. If he didn't hurt himself I would very likely lose the battle, if he did then I would win the battle. It was so satisfying to pull out the win that way.
-: Received the Zephyr Badge.

Hello. I had no idea there was a new Monotype Challenge Thread. The last time I posted in the other one was three years ago.

I have completed a Dark Ultimate Monotype Challenge from Gen 1 to Gen 5 on LeafGreen, Gold, Ruby, Diamond and Black.
I have completed a Ghost Ultimate Monotype Challenge from Gen 1 to Gen 5 on Red, Gold, Sapphire, Platinum, and White.

Platinum Steel monotype challenge Chapter 1: Napoleon

Once again, I dwell into the world of Sinnoh but this time to play a monotype. Also, I'll be a little shorter on narration and just gut down important details as I go about this adventure:

Piplup's backsprite is actually cute. Too bad he's about to evolve pretty soon.

- Obviously picked Piplup as our starter as it becomes part steel later on
- Had a really close battle with Barry. That Withdraw spamming turtwig is really annoying to deal with.
- Modest natured Piplup on the first try. I seriously thought of not going through an SR considering that really hard fight with Barry's Turtwig, which will count as one of the harder battles in this game with the Penguin as the starter.
- Went through the game as usual, beating Barry's withdraw spamming Turtwig once again with an overleveled Piplup, Napoleon
- Orebrugh mine, i caught a female Onix, which becomes Steelix later on. Definitely a part of the team. Now named Elizabeth, after Elizabeth I of England's history.

Team:
Since this is a steel monotype team, I'll be naming my pokemon after historical figures because after all, STEEL (and all kinds of metals) were used in order to shape history through forging weapons and armor for use of war, conquests, and battles.

Napoleon, the Modest male Piplup
Elizabeth, the Naive female Onix

Not going to post moves yet since its just the very early game.
