Hi guys!

I'm looking to put together a pokemon team, and the guys I'm gonna be battling with have been at it for a lot longer than I have so I need a little advice!

I've just recently finished the game, and have just started the breeding process. So far I've got a proper IV Absol with the right EV training, so she is ready to go once I level her but I need the rest of the pieces.

At the moment I was thinking Gengar (He was my champion pokemon when I played the original game) and maybe Charizard. For my mega, I'm open to anyone. I'd love it to be Absol but I've heard it can be a little wasted, and I'd still be really happy with maybe Mega Charizard Y who I've heard is good anyway.

I haven't really played a competitive game yet, but from what I've read I'm thinking it might be worth having another tank or two, and maybe a diverse special attacker, maybe even another sweeper. I'm not quite sure what role Charizard and Gengar fill as I don't actually have them yet.

Sorry to be so vague! FWIW, here's a list of other pokemon I like the look of:
Sandslash, Seadra, Scyther, Pikachu, Raichu, Gogoat, Marowak, Bisharp, Aggron, and pretty much any of the Evie evolutions.

The team doesn't have to be made from that list, it would just be cool if some of them could make it into the list.

Thanks so much for your help! :)

Remember that Absol and Charizard are only good in their Mega forms. Only 1 Pokemon per player can Mega Evolve per battle, so players only have 1 Mega Pokemon on the team. I'm afraid you'll have to pick one or the other.

Sets for each:

Absol:
-Sucker Punch
-Night Slash/Pursuit
-Play Rough
-Fire Blast
Nature: Naive
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Absolite
Ability: Super Luck/Justified

or
-Swords Dance
-Sucker Punch/Night Slash
-Play Rough
-Fire Blast
Nature: Naive
EVs: 252 Atk/4 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Absolite
Ability: Super Luck

Charizard Y:
-Fire Blast
-Solar Beam
-Dragon Pulse/Focus Blast
-Earthquake/Roost
Nature: Mild/Hasty/Modest/Timid
EVs: 4 Atk/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Charizardite Y

Gengar:
-Shadow Ball
-Sludge Bomb/Focus Blast/Taunt
-Thunderbolt/Focus Blast/Taunt
-Destiny Bond
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb/Focus Sash

or
-Substitute
-Shadow Ball
-Focus Blast/Pain Split
-Disable/Will-o-Wisp/Pain Split
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Black Sludge/Life Orb

Thoughts on your list:
-Sandslash, Gogoat, Marowak, Pikachu and Raichu are mediocre Pokemon to use, because of their average stats or other Pokemon doing their roles better (Excadrill does the Ground-type Rapid Spinning better; Trevenant, Gourgeist, Tangrowth, Ferrothorn and even Chesnaught do the bulky Grass role better than Gogoat, there are better Electric Pokemon than Pikachu and Raichu, like Wash Rotom).
-Like Absol and Charizard, Aggron's Mega form is the only Aggron you should be using.
-The only viable Eeveelutions are Vaporeon, Espeon and Sylveon (and possibly Umbreon)
-Scizor is much more effective than Scyther, because of its better defensive typing.

Sets for the listed ones I agree with:

Bisharp (not recommended with Absol, as both share a Fighting weakness):
-Sucker Punch
-Knock Off (you can transfer a Bisharp that was taught Knock Off in Black 2/White 2 with Poke Bank)
-Iron Head
-Swords Dance/Substitute
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb/Black Glasses/Dread Plate
Ability: Defiant

Vaporeon:
-Wish
-Protect
-Scald
-Ice Beam/Roar/Toxic
Nature: Bold
EVs: 248 HP/252 Def/8 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb

Espeon:
-Reflect
-Light Screen
-Psychic/Psyshock
-Hidden Power (Fire)/Dazzling Gleam/Baton Pass
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 Spe
Item: Light Clay
Ability: Magic Bounce

or
-Psychic/Psyshock
-Dazzling Gleam
-Hidden Power (Fire/Ground)/Shadow Ball
-Grass Knot/Shadow Ball
Nature: Timid
EVs: 4 HP/252 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb/Expert Belt
Ability: Magic Bounce

Sylveon (Pixilate makes Hyper Voice a Fairy move; Moonblast + Cute Charm is an acceptable alternative if you didn't transfer a Hyper Voice Eevee from Black 2/White 2):
-Wish
-Protect
-Hyper Voice
-Heal Bell/Calm Mind
Nature: Bold
EVs: 252 HP/244 Def/12 Spe
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate

or
-Hyper Voice
-Shadow Ball
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power (Fire)/Baton Pass
Nature: Modest
EVs: 244 HP/252 SAtk/12 Spe
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate

Umbreon:
-Wish
-Protect
-Foul Play
-Heal Bell
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP/4 Def/252 SDef
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
