I'm not opposed to having Lucario, but I felt that it was more of a promotional thing for Diamond and Pearl than a serious addition to the game. Lucario was one of the more popular Pokemon from that gen, and it made sense to add it for that reason. I guess I personally think that they should have instead used another Pokemon from either Black/White, or XY.

It does, however, make sense to use Lucario instead of a more recent pokemon, as it's final smash could be the Mega Evolution. For that reason, however, I would have preferred Blaziken, but that's just me.
I'm really not excited about this...

1. I have always been indifferent about Lucario. It's a bit overrated for my taste. A bit let down that he will be returning, and hope that other pokemon will also be included in the game alongside Pikachu, Lucario, and possibly Jigglypuff???

2. The pokemon I would most like to see in the series are:

Spoiler:
Meowth

Blazekin

Roserade

Gen 6 Starters

And...of course, Hawlucha!

3. I hope there is a pokemon trainer for gen 6 pokemon. They are all bipedal and humanesque which will make it easily adapted to the gameplay. Alexa would be fun for the trainer as well.

Also, I vote Pikachu for down+B Attack!

Zoroark could be really cool in a Smash Bros. game. Why? Allow me to explain. As the Illusion Pokemon, Zoroark would appear at the beginning of the match to be a random other character from the game. Thus, players would expect to be fighting that character. Then, when Zoroark is hit, it would reveal itself to be the actual Zoroark. Fighting-style wise, he'd be a bit like Mewtwo.

This would really work if the character-select menus were on the Wii U controller's screen and the other players wouldn't see who you picked.

I agree with Hawlucha, but it doesn't have the (crazy) fanbase that Lucario has. Which is too bad, because Hawlucha is a major badass that would work completely in Smash Bros.

1. I'm actually glad he's back in Smash, because he broke the "flavor of the month" excuse everyone keeps using to axe him for a new gen Pokémon. I can taste those delicious tears.

2. Why would I do that? Sakurai has already stated he's not going to add as many newcomers as last time, especially when it comes to oversaturating Pokémon over the company's flagship franchise: Super Mario, which uses several icons for certain individual Mario characters to prevent the main series from oversaturating the roster.

3. Obviously Pokémon Trainer will return with the Gen 1 design, because Red's the most recurring trainer in the series, and not a lot of starters from their respective gen could match the light-middle-heavy weight starter trio as perfectly as the Kanto starters (plus 2/3 have to be fan favorites, unlike the other gens, who all have at least 1).

I really liked Lucario; he was a pretty fun brawler to use. Like above, I'm glad that he's back. If I were to cast five different Pokémon instead of Lucario, they'd probably be Machoke, Combusken, Medicham, Gallade, and maybe Toxicroak. They all have a body structure like Lucario, so in my opinion, they'd be able to make a perfect replacement. I wouldn't mind if Pokémon Trainer made a return, but I'd personally prefer it to be Brendan, though--hero of gen three. Huge fan of the character design. :p

Many people are expecting a Mega-Lucario, so I'm not opposed to Lucario returning if it's for that reason. I personally prefer Pikachu, but will use Lucario every now and then.

Mienshao, Poliwrath, Alakazam, Zoroark, and hmmm Dedenne? Honestly never gave much thoughts to replacements, so these five are purely random.

Sorta on the fence about Pokemon Trainer. Having 3 characters at once is really weird tbh.

I've given up on trying to predict what Sakurai is thinking when choosing the Pokémon delegation for Smash Bros. I'll just chill here and hope for the best. XD

I do love the Pokémon Trainer concept and would love to see it expanded upon instead of simply adding the most arbitrary pokémon from each generation simply because they're apparently popular.

We've already got Red from SSBB, just chose between adding a rival, a regional champion, or a regional villain boss...each wielding three of their signature pokémon to switch between.
