Guys I need your help. My computer's been crashing a lot lately, and I'm looking for a new one. What would you guys suggest for under $600? I would like a fast computer with a good amount of memory and be able to run programs like photoshop, illustrator, pokemon online. It would even be a plus if I could play some LoL and Steam games on it but that's not necessary. I thought it would be best to ask here, so any suggestions?

How old is your old PC? I want to see if we can fix the system crashes first. These days, system crashes are usually caused by a misbehaving kernel-mode driver - most other things can at most cause an inconvenient error or two.

If it's okay for me to do this, I went ahead and actually moved this into its own topic, considering that it does seem like a significant issue, and you might receive more help with the issue being in its own topic as well.

But yeah, I'm going to echo Twiggy on this one. If we knew the age, we could then have more of a background possibly on the physical state of the machine.

It's about 3 1/2 years old and I only paid bout $400 for it back then. I want to get new one and give this one to my mom haha.
What's inside the computer? I want a reference to the current hardware within the computer.

What is the nature of the crash? Is it a BSOD, or does your PC just freeze? If it's a BSOD, did you manage to catch a glimpse of the faulty file causing the BSOD?

ave you tried booting into Safe Mode? Do the crashes occur in Safe Mode?

Hmm, is the battery perhaps bad? Is it plugged in when you try turning it on?

If it turns on, does it end up getting into Windows? Try plugging in an external monitor if it's a laptop. A display that's permanently turned off does not necessarily mean that the display is broken - sometimes, it's the connection, the GPU, or - heaven forbid - a system that can't POST.
Taking the above posts into account, a variety of things could be wrong with your computer that you aren't seeing any video. If your hard disk doesn't show any activity beyond its initial spin-up (and probably spin-down if you're leaving the computer on long enough), you might have a GPU issue that's preventing your system from going past POST. PCs from the past few years or so may have the GPU as part of the main processor (examples include the AMD E/A Series, and the Intel Core i-Series), however with the age of your system, I'm going to assume that, if it has onboard video, it probably is controlled on a northbridge chip on the motherboard.
If there is hard disk activity beyond spin-up, such as what you would hear when the operating system is booting, then it's more likely your display or its connection is bad.
