@Nakuzami

I can't say much on some of your ideas, although I'm not entirely sure how a KH-Academy would walk. And I hate keyblades.

The DWMA is a great idea though! It inspires some team work, but could always be flexible if masters/weapons could change every now and then. The academy style would also work, although I would prefer to see more emphasis on missions (compulsory/optional) for teams to go on. In terms of canon characters, you could just make this in a 'post SE' world where you offer a possible future - although you'd have to be careful not to post spoilers. IE it would be reasonable to say _____ is a professor, but not 'because their partner is dead' :P or whatever.

@Nakuzami:
I like the Eternal Wars idea!
Probably because up until like, a week ago, I was really into CIV 5, and, well, in that game you're an immortal leader of a civilization competing against other leaders to prove your civilization's superiority… yeah, that might be really cool if handled correctly (or it could be a total bust, unfortunately… seems challenging)

And the Elder Scrolls/Pokemon crossover is something I had been thinking about for a while since Skyrim came out (was too busy playing it to actually, like, write anything though, haha)
Maybe Dragon-types were extinct and are now coming back, and are WAY stronger than other Pokémon - as in, not weak to Ice-type attacks - so Dovahkin have to use Dragon-type attacks or Shouts to beat them… (I imagine Charizard may be very popular in this case)

I don't know, just throwing stuff at you… looking forward to whatever you decide on though! :)

Okay! I'll continue expanding on the ideas—the three you guys pointed out, mainly, and perhaps a few new ones—and see what comes together.

And, Magic, as far as the KH Academy goes . . . well, it was a rough idea. It would take some work, but I think I could find a way to manage it. I've also tried to come up with some other forms of a Kingdom Hearts roleplay, but they seemed too . . . "let's roleplay for the self-inserting value!"-ish, and not much else.

@drunk — I hadn't really considered the leading of nations idea. More like the roleplayers would have been rather normal people, sucked into immortality and a fate-of-the-world deciding mission without any choice. They'd become some form of "mystical soldiers" and have to use their powers to . . . well, decide the fate of the world. Leading an army, though, might not be out of the question. I'll take that into consideration.
Also, I'm not sure how fond I am of the "dragons=dragon-types" idea. It sounds like it's trying too hard to be Skyrim, which isn't what I'm going for with that idea. Perhaps something like a conflict between the mortal races and the daedra (obligatory for anything The Elder Scrolls), where the daedra might have some control over (or have created) the legendary pokémon and that's sending Tamriel into a state of major imbalance, and the roleplayers are people who have oddly powerful bonds with pokémon and are trying to stop, influence, or assist the daedric control over Mundus? (you know what I like this idea I'ma try and roll with it)

Alright time for an actual presentation, more or less. I think I mentioned before I was thinking about making a Fire Emblem RP, at the time I said more details would come the next day but in the end I decided to wait till I had a better idea of what I would be offering. The RP is actually fairly closed to finished by now, but I still figured I'd gauge interest and see if anyone had any ideas they wanted to tell me. Ironically even though a big chunk of what the RP needs to start is done, we still don't have a title, so here you go.

The RP's plot will (for a while at least) revolve around a war between Aecilia, a fairly traditional kingdom and Belial, an empire ruled by mages where those with no talent for magic are the dregs of society. It will include just about every class from every Fire Emblem game, and will have players on both sides of the war. Some players will also be allowed to start out neutral in relation to the war and go about on their own more or less for a while as long as they make their way to the main plot before too long and pick a side eventually. I'm not a big fan of GMs holding anything awesome to themselves so two non-GM Lords will be allowed in the roleplay.

There's not much more I can say without spoiling some important points so I'll leave it there for tonight, can't wait to see what you guys think.
"Ever looking forward, ever thinking back. Everywhere you've been, everyone you've met was another step on your path, shaping your future even as they become part of your past. One must never discount the pieces that have made up your journey until now but to lose yourself in them would be equally great folly, instead let them hoist you up, carry you on until you find the strength to walk for yourself. So it is that I continue towards that endless horizon. Ever thinking back, ever marching forward, inexorable as the history that brought me down this road. This Lonesome Road."

Fantasy RPG-RP.

What do I mean by that? Well, I basically want you to think about what that means to you. To me, it basically means a good ol' RPG with a group of diverse characters with different skillsets, venturing out to save the world (And possibly getting some loot on the side)... made into an RP.

So, why am I bringing this up? Well! Basically, Albunnie and I have been thinking about this for a while, and while there -has- been a couple of RPG RPs every so often, there's never really been one that exactly catered to our needs. So! We'll be setting up our very own RP! We're working out the details now, and here's what I can tell you so far:

The RP'll be set in a fictional land thought up 100% by us, with alot of classic races and mechanics that alot of people should be familiar with, such as elves, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, orcs, goblins, trolls, imps, demons, elementals and... well, basically any kind of creature you can think of. Possibly even a dragon, if you're lucky!

We'll have a very interesting (Or so we think at least) class system in place, where you'll be able to basically create your own class from several subsets of weapons, skills and pre-existing classes, along with a chapter-based story, each with its own choices, quests and rewards, depending on what the players decide to do.

The world the characters will be plonked down in will be on the brink of a semi-industrial revolutions, thanks to a brand new power-source discovery! Namely, a special type of crystal that can be used to generate and expel alot of energy. However, beyond the border of the capital city, there's barely any of this technology loose. So, what exactly will happen when several adventurers band together to try and stop an oncoming evil, with the rapid growth of industrialization of a magical, mystical land quickly spreading?

I guess you'll just have to wait and see! Hope you guys are as excited for this as we are! ^_^

I like RPG-RPs, but they are a lot of commitment. Hopefully with two of you on board though it'll make it a lot more feasible! :)

This reminds me a lot of a medieval-ish fantasy RP I was part of long before PC. It offered a lot of flexibility, even to the point of people being able to justify their own races (with enough detail) and basically specify their characters skills without limiting them to a single word like 'healer' 'archer' etc.

Will there be magic? Have you thought of the main driving force behind this roleplay yet, what this incoming evil will be?

Yep, we've been taking all of this into account while we've been hammering out details. Magic will indeed be a thing and there is a driving force with a great evil! :3

We've also got a very flexible class 'system' so to say, without any specific guidelines for what skills a character can have. Meaning that you can mix and match between fencing and magic, maybe the powerful bare-handed fighting of a Monk mixed with something else, etcetera. The magic system is pretty free-form as well, and we're basically making the players be a part of creating their own limits, with me and Albs making sure it doesn't go completely overboard.

We haven't seen super many pure fantasy-style original world RPs here, at least not ones that actually live for a while. So I wish you luck with this as it sounds nice :3

This specifically interests me. Kind of an Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura style world? Technology vs magic? I love steampunk kind of settings and even though this maybe isn't exactly what you had in mind, it sounds interesting that you'll mix some type of industrial revolution into a fantasy style RP.

Are you planning on focusing a lot on action (with all the different class systems you mention) or on drama?

Well, this industrial revolution-type-dealio that's going to be ocurring alongside the adventure is spurred on by something I'm not at liberty to talk about yet, but this is basically the reason for alot of new tech popping up. I wouldn't say it's steampunky, but it's kinda the same principles. I'd actually say it's more a Final Fantasy-esque type of technology than anything else.

That said, even before this revolution, gunpowder has been invented and used to create very basic rifles, pistols and so on. They're pretty horrible though, so many people still favor swords or bows or obviously magic over them.

Well even though the remake for Connections and Fragmented are soon to be posted I have had an interesting idea for an RP. So I'll tell you about it and get some feedback because if it is well liked I'll start working on getting it ready to take the spot of which ever RP I finish first - or I might just post it since it's not exactly going to be the first time I have had way too many RPs going.

Anyway, the idea takes inspiration from some elements Final Fantasy X and series such as Selector Infected WIXOSS and Pokémon. So it's basically an original RP that takes inspiration from many existing franchises.

Spoiler:
It is to be set in a fictional, but fairly modern world in which Summoners compete against one another in the hopes of fulfilling their dearest wish. The summoners compete in battles involving spiritual entities that for now I am calling Aeons after their inspiration. These battles are kind of similar to those of the pokemon franchise but so far these are the aspects of the Aeons in the RP I have worked out

1. Battles between Aeons are conducted within a large scale pentacle. Aeons cannot exist outside of these areas. Pentacles will appear at the beginning of a battle between two Summoners.

2. No two Aeons will be the same. Unlike in FFX they will take on a shape, element and abilities that suit the Summoner.

3. Aeons will be able to be of six different Attributes or Elements
  • Fire - Primarily offensive with a tendency to possess powerful attacks. They are extremely vulnerable to water but sustain little damage from ice, against which they do significant damage.
  • Water/Ice - Counted as a single element. Water Aeons are usually flexible and well-rounded. They are vulnerable to lightning but do heavy damage to fire aeons. Ice aeons are very fragile but tend to have high offensive properties, they are very weak against fire.
  • Air - Air Aeons are neutral to all other elements. They have the biggest range in the damage of their attacks with their weakest being the weakest amongst Aeons and their strongest being feared by many. Air Aeons are typically very fast.
  • Earth - Earth Aeons are highly resistant to Lightning, neutral to all other elements and are usually defensive and slow in nature. They tend to be harder to beat the longer a battle goes on due to the durability they usually have.
  • Lightning - These Aeons are rare and are typically very powerful and very fast. Despite this they do very little damage against the already defensive Earth element and have very unreliable accuracy. They do extra damage against water, but not ice.
  • Shadow - Shadow Aeons are entirely neutral to all the elements. They are typically well rounded but tend towards powerful special abilities. They are the rarest type of Aeon.

Apart from the strengths of other elements against them, the individual strengths and weaknesses of some Aeons may not reflect those typical of their element.

4. Each Aeon has a unique special gift - similar to the abilities in the pokemon world.

5. Aeons will need to be commanded to attack, so their attacks will need to be named by the player.

6. Aeons may be supplemented in battle by Gems. These magical stones usually enhance the abilities of Aeons but may also change their characteristics or allow them to use an otherwise inaccessible attack. A Gem will only be able to be used once per battle.

7. I'm not sure what the max number of Aeons will be to a person. All Summoners start with one Aeon but will be able to obtain more by studying at various temples throughout the plot.

8. Battles between summoners will involve a lot of risk. The magic required to have such a battle will gradually take a toll on the body of each summoner so the longer a battle wages, the greater the strain put on the body of a summoner. Furthermore, there is going to be an intimate link between summoners and Aeons so that pain and strain equivalent to that suffered by the Aeon is also felt by the summoner. This basically means that if too much strain is put on a summoners body they'll die. Considering that Aeons will generally be larger than humans, and possesses severe destructive power it would also be inadvisable to get caught in an attack meant for an Aeon.

The plot is where I'm the most confused. I have sort of an idea that I have, and I really like the motive or trying to obtain one's dearest wish. I just need to work out how I'm going to have this tie in with the journey from Temple to temple. I'm open to suggestions. Perhaps a quota of victories will be needed to qualify to obtain each Aeon and from then on I'll borrow more from FFX with the journey of the Summoners culminating at one final challenge to obtain their wishes.

So that's what I have so far. It uses a lot of cliché ideas, but I feel like with the proper editing and tuning up I could turn it into a really interesting RP.

You've got a lot of interesting ideas but it does seem a lot like a FFX/Pokemon crossover. I think it would be best to move the battles away from what you have currently and make them more freeform? IE, not neccesary to have named 'moves' as such (or at least commands not always needed) and the gems idea can probably be written off.

The attributes you have seem pretty good - will the summoners only be fighting other summoners or is there another enemy at hand? If so I would love to see a holy-type summon (healing/light/whatever).

I guess it mostly hinges on your story - they get their dearest wish... power? If there's a high risk of death I can't see anyone risking it for anything much smaller than that, unless it's bringing back a wiped out town or something, idk.

Either way, work on the lore surrounding your Aeons and the world. Also work out how the players will interact with each other, as well as NPCs, etc.

That looks -really- cool Gimme. I'm like, THE biggest FFX fan in the world, and I'm totally digging this idea of yours. However, personally, I don't think I'd want to take on the role of the summoner, seems like an extremely important, difficult and even volatile position.

Maybe it'll be a bit more like FFX where the summoner is also able to recruit guardians due to other summoners possibly hiring mercenaries to try and steal another summoner's gems as you stated? I personally would love to be able to play the role of an aeon, but given how you've set it up so far, that would be pretty damn difficult :P Keep at it, Gimme!

Thanks for the tips guys.
Honestly that idea is still really in the draft stages since I am trying to blend a lot of ideas into one RP - it might not even come about. I have wanted to create RP focusing on combat between summoners for a while though. In the end I'll possibly just revert more to the theme of FFX though but I like allowing for conflict between characters which FFX doesn't.

Maybe I'll scrap this and revert to a FFX feel, but have them all working towards individual goals rather that defeating a great evil? I'm not sure.

Could be both? Perhaps an overall evil they want to uproot but have different opinions on exactly how to do that?

FFX has a lot of potential avenues to go down (final fantasy in general is a shockingly underused base around these parts) so could lead to something very interesting! Let us know if your idea develops or you come up with anything new :).

I find this place after I submit a RP//facepalm
Anyways, I just submitted an RP which plays with colour and things black and white because I I love that stuff. Someone gimme a new brain ;w;
And depending on whether its accepted or not could anyone here offer advice on how to improve it?

Spoiler:
For a world which had eternally been without colour, the concept of anything other than black and white was unknown, myth, fiction, false and considered blasphemy. It was forbidden. It was strange. It was simply blasphemy. Unfortunately, their fear of change eventually became the world's end and now, gradually, the current world is being 'erased' by 'God', page by page. On top of that, no one knows how to fully restore this world and so the current citizens simply sit and continue life as they always have, simply ignoring this slow and unavoidable end. I mean, death is inevitable, right? One should know better than to have a fight with fate. It was destiny and no one bothered to deny it. "Don't mess with God's will." Such as one abridged version of their many laws state. However, in every book, story, world and universe is always one who supports change and there is always one who will overcome laws and jump hoops to start change. In world has not one but many of these people called 'Tint' and as many supporters call them, heroes.

For reference. ^^

So this is an idea that I got yesterday after watching the Mega Evolution I Special. It's barely out of the hatching stage, so this is basically just to see how well received (or not) this might be. 'Cause, even though this is a pokémon forum, people don't seem to want to roleplay about pokémon much lately, lol.

The Summit
A place that only the most skilled of trainers can even hope to reach. A place reserved for the masters of Mega Evolution.

Basically the Summit is equivalent to becoming Champion for normal trainers, I guess.

Rather than this being a normal journey roleplay, as I'm sure that starting out completely new and inexperienced might be the reason people don't want to do journey roleplays, roleplayers will start out as decently skilled trainers. They will each have a keystone and one pokémon with the capability to Mega Evolve, and this will be their only pokémon for the whole roleplay (Most likely). They will have special equipment and privileges (not exactly sure what yet) that normal trainers don't, and they will be tasked with certain missions and whatnot to help further their skills and hopefully uncover the secrets to Mega Evolution.

For example:

[Insert Trainer Name Here], a strange energy source has been detected in the [Insert Name] Ruins nearby. Go investigate these ruins, and bring back any Mega Stones that you come across. Scan any other data that may be related to Mega Evolution for study at the Sycamore Laboratory.

Roleplayers won't necessarily be working together or even know each other, unless they so choose. They will also be competing with one another, et cetera.

The roleplay will take place in an expanded version of Kalos, as Mega Evolution is apparently only canon in the Kalos Region as of now.

Sounds cool! I've been itching for a plot driven pokémon RP where you don't have to raise your team from scratch, haha. I'd recommend leaving levels out of it if you're going for a solo pokémon thing. And interaction is gooderaction! Make some story arcs where players won't really have to journey together, but will arrive at locations or do missions at the same time so that they can interact when they feel like it?

Spoiler:
Just going to say, ORAS [well Corocoro scans really] has actually just proved that Megas do exist out of Kalos canon-wise, just be careful because I'm not sure to what extent- regardless it's something to consider.

Anyways, it does seem quite interesting is that what you meant when you said you had another RP in mind? ohohoho but if anything I wouldn't mind seeing this come to fruition. Do you have any antagonists in mind/a major opposing force, or are the antagonists/rivals the other players themselves?

Additionally, if it's only one Pokemon, it's probably a ridiculously strong/high leveled Pokemon, right?

Yeah, I saw that. Not to mention Mega Charizard X in Origins, if you consider that to be canon in any way. But I'll probably still have the roleplay set in Kalos. It makes the most sense, and nobody has really had a Kalos roleplay around here yet, that I'm aware of.

As far as antagonists go . . . that was actually what I was just trying to come up with about two hours ago when I was planning. I'm thinking some sort of group that directly opposes them, who wish to harness the power of Megas for various reasons (whereas you are more focused on discovering their secrets), as well as a possible cult of Diancie/Xerneas & Yveltal. At first the cult idea sounded odd, but then I entertained it and figured it could work.

The cult would be against both of the other two groups, and would seek to "protect the sanctity of the power of Mega Evolution" or something. In the end, they could have an ancient temple out of synch with reality, which is where the literal Summit could lie (the roleplayers would think the Summit was a figurative goal/title, like Pokémon Master)

It's still in the planning stages, and I think I might hold off on posting it until around the release of ORAS, so that RPers will have access to all of the new Megas.

And yes, the single pokémon would be powerful, but there would be no leveling mechanic (as Rika suggested).

I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this here thing o.o It's planned out roughly from start to ending, but I don't want to control the details too much, rather I'd like to adapt them around the actions and choices of the players. Is it too odd/confusing or something people would actually like to sign up for?

You wake up, feeling a cool breeze upon your skin. Something is wrong. As you open up your eyes, you realize that you don't recognize where you are. Some sort of trashed room... In an empty building... In an abandoned ruin of a city. What's more, the sky is purple and you are pretty sure that it's not Earth's moon looking down at you from up there. Especially since there's three of them, along with a strangely warm sun that you seem to be able to look straight into without hurting your eyes.

--

In another building not too far from where you find yourself, a purple creature who somehow manages to wear both a couple of gray wings and a white uniform, frowns at the signals that have just appeared on his screen in the dark room. He reaches for a radio.

"Your majesty. Confirming arrival of the wanderers, but... I get an anomaly."

The radio buzzes back at him and he swallows nervously.

"Yes, all of them. But they are not on the first world. They seem to have arrived... on the last world."

Only silence greets him from the radio for a moment, before the reply comes again.

"Your majesty? But if you do that... You know what happens! You will have to face- No, what?"

The Noibat's outburst makes a passing Sliggoo and Fraxure stop and listen in to the conversation. As they hear the elaborate response, they both lean in to see the screen better and then gasp at what it means.

"We could send- No confrontation still? But... Alright. As you wish."

Noibat dismisses the radio call and turns to look at his colleagues.

"It starts. And it's gone wrong already. Arceus help us."

Your lonely confusion won't last for long. Soon, you will meet other humans in the same predicament as yourself, learn to awaken the slumbering powers of transformation which only humans can possess, enter a war that was never meant to be fought and discover that it is all part of the most important game that was ever meant to be played. And strangest of all, it seems like you have been groomed for this exact adventure for years already. Because you just happen to be a fan of the franchise called "pokémon". Only thing is, this time the game isn't exactly handheld.
so what was that all about?
In this RP, you will play as a human pokémon fan who gets pulled out from our universe and into a higher plane... A place where not all laws of the universe you are used to really apply. As a seemingly legendary awaited wanderer, you will travel the four planetoids of this strange star system, undertake quests for their different populations in their different landscapes, and gather more and more skills and powers. All at the same time as you are being hunted by one mysterious army and called upon to save the remnants of another. You have become a pokémorph. The mysterious hybrid link between the monsters of this world and the humans of your own world.

I will control most NPCs and steer the plot along - but your actions and choices will most certainly affect everything, especially the final outcome! You will eventually be able to transform into several different pokémon - choose them wisely! Strive to interact with your fellow players, both when you are on the same side and when you might get pitted against each other... Seek to uncover the mysteries in front of you, to discover the true purpose of the peculiar star system you are in. Is all this even real...?
rules & guidelines
- Follow all RPC & PC rules.

- Especially the one about 100 words/post minimum IC. It's totally okay to make small posts, but make sure there's actually some substance to them and not just one line of dialogue or redundancy.

- Make sure to actually post in the OOC thread once in a while to keep discussion and planning going!

- Remember that your character can't always be the strongest. At least not without reason.

- Do your best to let others react after you have spoken or taken action in a post, before you post anew.

- If you are dropping out for whatever reason, PLEASE let me know. Don't just disappear.

- This RP is rated M, because you will be able to kill pokémon here and you are allowed to take a sort of realistic approach on the surreal world you will find yourself in. But please don't go overboard with describing injuries and violence and don't get carried away with romantic scenes. If I feel uncomfortable with something you write, I might lower the rating.

Fill out the form in the spoiler below and post in this thread to sign up. I think 6 players will be maximum.

Favorite pokémon: (preferably not the same as someone else. This means your character's favorite pokémon, not necessarily yours.) (and yes, in case you were wondering, this will be the first pokémon you will be able to morph into and likely your main one throughout the RP unless you realize you like some other better!) (and it can be anything, evolved, unevolved - EXCEPT legendaries and DRAGONS. You cannot be a dragon type.) (I'm done now!)

I CAN'T EVEN
OHHHMYYGOOOOOSH
LET ME RESERVE RIGHT NOW
I AM 100% READY
OK MAYBE 75% BUT PLS

It brings tears to my eyes thinking about it. *wipe*

I would sign up in a heart beat.

I only suggest two things:

1. I'd ask for a roleplay sample. I'm not sure if you'd make it set in Astra Story's universe, the human world, or request one from another RP, but personally an SU which requires few other sections to be filled out should have a roleplay sample just to make sure the player is good enough for the RP.

2. Elaborate on pokemorphs[?] Since it seems each player will be able to morph into multiple Pokemon: for example, you may want to explain the limitations of morphing [if any], or address anything that could be assumed incorrectly.

Rika, all you have to know is that your roleplays seriously make me ask myself if I can handle another roleplay. "I want to . . . but do I have time? Will I be able to? Do I have any previous obliga---screw it, I'm joining."

I think that basically sums it up.

I agree with DLMuerte. Perhaps explain how total a pokémorph transformation is?
"Sure, there're probably infinite dimensions, but I'm with you in this one, so why would I try to find them?"
