Yeah, I'm completely dependent on my parents still. There are times when I do feel liberal towards rules in my house (such as fairness and equity), however I still obligate to my parents' rules just so that I don't get myself into a situation that could have been easily prevented.

My mother is a person whose opinion is difficult to change on things, and she's the person that's like "I'm right, you're wrong", which is what a lot of our arguments tend to be about at times. She also believes that age is relevant in the household, despite the fact that I'm an adult. I know how she feels, but sometimes I feel she factors maturity with age, which is not always true to a person.

A better comparison with maturity in my opinion is experience. It's still not a perfect relation in that people with the same experiences can surely have different maturity levels, but I do think that experiencing certain things makes the person in question more mature. For example, managing your own finances, handling your own transportation, doing the meal planning, dealing with a relationship and a breakup, etc.

Ahah, my mom's the same way, Zach. Except with tantrums, too. . .

I actually found a very mature, and civil way to handle it, which was to just sit her down and talk to her about how as stubborn as she is, I picked some of that up too. Explain to her that while as you are very grateful to her, you are an adult now, and would like to be treated with the respect that you try very hard to give her. You always will value her opinion, but you need to be able to do what you feel is right, and you can only hope that she could still be a mother to you after you've made a mistake, and are growing from it.

It didn't work for me, maybe you'll have more luck. xD

I'm quite liberated for a teenager my age, I'd say. My diet and lifestyle choices are completely my own, and in lieu of a job I imagine my liberties will expand in regard to my mother as a lot of her money that's spent on me will be freed, and I'll have my own cashflow with a job for things like a computer, my own groceries, etc.

If I work at the place I'm hoping to I'll have friends as co-workers from the get go, and the morning shift as an option, too. It'll be nice to see my old drill commander again, even though she graduates tomorrow we'll still know each other. :3

It's hard when a parent is a bit steadfast in their ways, sometimes trying to discuss matters isn't an option until much later when their, and your head is cooled a bit. I used to butt heads with my mom all the time, because it seemed like anything that happened wasn't good enough in her eyes. I had a steady job, saved for a car, and still picked up around the house. Then my mom became late on several bills and everything was about to be cut off because she was spending her money on things that weren't necessary, so I wound up giving her the $900 that I had saved. I wound up being the biggest piece of crap when I asked for the money back a year later and I completely blew up. After her finally seeing where I was coming from, she let up on me a bit...though I still haven't seen a cent of that money back, and it's been 3 years now

Well I guess I take back what I said earlier about my mother with the "I'm right, you're wrong" attitude. She and my father had plans to go out for dinner this evening without me, and they did. However, since there was nothing in the house to eat, and since she neglected to prepare me a meal ahead of time (after I mentioned it to her), she did give me a bit of money to get some dinner, which I did.

I probably seemed to come off as rude though with that, especially with begging my mother for money, but at least I had something to eat instead of just starve for the evening.

I think I was quite spoiled by my mother, but in a good way. She wasn't like Warren Buffet who would leave his children with no money but she would get the toys I wanted for Christmas or whatever. There was one time when I was around 7 years old that I saw her packing a toy eagle that actually flies. When Christmas came I got the same eagle from Santa and that's how I knew Father Christmas didn't exist xD

I didn't get the spaceman joke D:

Oh, here's one I heard from that awesome kids' show Chowder:

What's the different between chopped beans and pea soup?

Spoiler:
You can always chopped (chop) beans, but never pea (be) soup!

Okay, the spaceman joke was bad. But think of it like this:

"What do you do when you find a space, man? You park your car in it!"

Get it? Parking space?

Puns, puns, puns. These were so bad but so funny, somehow. :X

I just got back from a burger joint called Sarge's Grill, and their plates make my mouth water. So big, taste perfectly grilled, half-pound of beef with bacon and cheddar… I paced myself well enough to only have a mild stomachache that's subsiding right now with three glasses of lemonade, but my sister did the opposite, eating two plates of fries with hers and is paying the price right now. :b

There's this place by where my mom lives called Sahm's. It's a family friends restaurant and he serves the best beef manhattan I have ever had. The mashed potatoes are made from actual boiled potatoes that they boil in the back and the sandwich itself is around 3 or 4 pounds. And it's only $13. It feeds me for at least two meals.

Somehow I read that whole thing and thought it was a joke about your mom being a SAHM. I was so lost. Obviously I'm quite mixed up in this conversation.

I am very cautious at eating stale food, because I don't want to go to a trip at the hospital. That goes for all foods that have an expiration date, but my mom thinks I'm overacting and that it's ok to eat expired food so long as it's not expired meat.
