This should be a sticky by he way. This thread is for those who have little to no replies at all to their work or haven't got any in a very long time. It's sad when stories don't get noticed like they should. Well not anymore. Here you can make requests for people to read your story and leave a review. How does this work? Well the only rule is the person who replies after you must read and review one of your stories before they are allowed to ask for a review for one of their's. So this is like a,'I'll review your's if you review mine' kind of thing.

I know the fanfiction index is there but that doesn't help users get much needed feedback. How are we to improve if we don't know what we're doing wrong in our writing or if we even have errors in our stories. feedback teaches us to write better.

Thinks to self,'Please don't lock this thread.' For some reason all my ideas seem to get locked. But I think this is an awesome idea. But if it's locked I'll just take my fics elsewhere, where I CAN get feedback with this trick.

Please check out my InuYasha fanfiction and tell me what you think.

I need reviews for Pokemon: Dual Dimensions, and votes for the poll regarding the team for the first gym.

I don't think this is a good idea.

Asking repeatedly for reviews, to a lot of other writers and reviewers themselves, is a bad sign. A lot of people won't even read a fic if it's plastered with REVIEWREVIEWREVIEW all over the place. (I'm one of them) People look to it as people begging for attention, they will ignore your fic completely.

Serious, it's on every guide to writing fanfiction, don't beg or bribe for reviews.

Sadly, I've noticed that a lot of the time it's the ones that beg for reviews that cannot take criticism very well. No, I'm not saying all, but I've noticed it's true for a lot of them.

It's one of the things I tell my newer writers that I beta for, don't beg for reviews, it comes off as tacky. I get that everyone loves reviews, I do too, but complaining when you don't get any just shows that you aren't writing for the sake of writing, you're writing for the sake of attention. There are some good fics on this site, pretty good ones, that go without a single review.

Truth is, there just aren't a lot of reviewers on site.

Thing is, it's not even proper, long reviews that are needed most of the time. Just a post saying that you read the story and what you liked and didn't like is enough if you don't feel like fleshing it out. It's nice to know if the lack of response is because no one reads or because people are lazy ;;

I see these threads quite a bit on other sites. The thing is, they always die. There isn't a 100% guarantee to getting reviews. There aren't any shortcuts, and they sometimes can be few and far between. You're going to have to learn to accept that. There aren't many reviewers on this site, that much is true.

There's an attitude here that I don't like. This doesn't go for everyone, but a lot of people post their story, and wait for the reviews to come pouring in. They don't contribute to topics, read other stories, or review/comment. In other words, they want all of the rewards with none of the work. A lot of people just expect people to read their work simply because they posted it. It doesn't work like that.

You want to know how to get reviews? You have to be a productive member of the writing community. Come out of your shell, and contribute. I don't care if it's just replying to comments, anything helps. This community had been in a slump for far too long. It's getting better, but it's not enough. If everyone did one review a week, I can guarantee there wouldn't be a need for this kind of thread. I'm tired of people just showing up and expecting to get a trophy.

You want to know why this works? When you start being a part of a community, you start to get your name out there. When you start to get your name out there, people start recognizing you. When people start recognizing you, you might start a conversation. When people start a conversation, they become friends. And friends read friends' stuff. It's that simple. There's no community here, and it needs to change.

Okay, I'm going to do a bit of self-gloating for a moment. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but it is a good example. When I first posted Alien Poverty, it got nothing. No reviews, no comments, and not a lot of views. So, I started reviewing other works in hopes of people reviewing mine in return. It was selfish, but I was helping. Did people always return the favor? No, in fact, it was a while before anyone even commented on my work. As I reviewed more and more stories, I made quite a few friends. Alien Poverty went up in views, but still no reviews. Then one day, I finally got a review. It was just of the first chapter, but I was elated. A while later, I got a comment. Both of the people that reviewed/commented were people that I had talked with, or reviewed their story. I think that neither of them would have done that if I hadn't helped them out in one way or another.

Flash forward to about a week ago, and I posted Pain. I was blown away. Four different people had decided to comment/review within the first week. Most of them were people that I had helped out before. Would they have read my short story if I had just posted it and left? Maybe, but it's highly unlikely. Instead, I reviewed, contributed to topics, and made a name for myself. In return, I made friends that cared about my writing. That's how you get reviews. You have to go out and make yourself known.

TL;DR:
Quit whining about getting no reviews and earn every review you get.
