& Welcome, mandahon! What "midwest" dishes do you like to eat/cook? I may or may not have heard of some since I'm a SoCal gal and all. :P
I don't think any of the food here isn't anything most people don't already know about. The Midwest is characterized by its large, hearty meals, or at least my family, and that's what I usually eat. The only things I can think of that are unique to Michigan (my current residence), are the olive burger, and the pasty, which has its origins in the British isles. Although, I do have a taste for southern food, since my grandmother is from the deep south.
