I'm not sure if it's been asked or whatever but...

What do you do when you get struck with writer's block? I've been struggling with this a lot lately, and it's making it harder to write. Usually, when I get it though, I write down in my writing journal to get my thoughts about it out. Either that or I listen to music, but now these methods have gotten quite exhausting for my brain. D:

That's why I was thinking, if it was okay, that we could share tips with one another about how to cure a bad case of writer's block. :D

So, how do you get rid of it? Any tips you want to share?

I'm pretty sure it's been asked before, but not recently, so you're good! :D

My biggest tip is to work on another story for a while. The main goal is to have you stop thinking about the story you're having trouble with, and then come back to it later. It normally helps me, but it's not a guarantee cure. Sometimes I just have to wait it out. It's painful and slow, but sometimes it's your only option.

You could always skip over that section and then come back to it. But if you're anything like me, you're way too stubborn to move on. :P

I'm very stubborn about writing. That's half my problem. I'm the type of person who tries to force myself to write. If I'm not writing, than I just feel all weird and depressed. >< I tend to work on old stories to see if I can overcome writer's block. I think part of it has a lot to do with my ADHD too. I always hop from one story to the next because I'm quick to get bored or lack planning when it comes to getting stories done. I rush into them and don't give myself room to make them grow. DX

That's usually how writer's block develops for me, and then it's harder to get over it because as I said before... without writing, it feels like something is missing. D: I mean, I usually do other things like playing games or watching TV, but that can only go so far before I get the will to write again, only to realize I still have writer's block. x_x

That's why I wanted to join the writing classes you decided to do. I thought maybe it would help me become better at planning and stuff. ><

I read other stories. Looking at pretty artwork usually doesn't help me for artist's block (makes it worse, actually) but for writing it's totally different. It helps inspire me to work twice as hard, especially when I'll be able to get closer to the parts I'm most interested in writing. That's always the tough part.. being stuck writing parts that you generally don't find too interesting. :(

Otherwise, time heals all wounds!

I usually take a walk, and depending on the story that I'm trying to write, I could go from a park to somewhere in a nightclub, to even going into gang alleys, dangerous? Very. Worth it? For me it is anyways. But usually I just take a rest or even do something else, but when I come up with an idea, I don't just jump right back onto my story and write like crazy before the idea wears off, no, instead I write small notes and just keep them in my pocket, and later when I feel like continuing, I look and read all the notes that I would write, simple.

There should be a signature here somewhere.
I wonder where it's gone.
