I never really played around with Mega Alakazam enough to assess how good it is, but I have used LO +3 attacks with Encore in the 4th slot and it was pretty fun. Sash is alright too but I didn't find myself using that set nearly as often.

True, but I'm sure that the standard set runs Timid.
Was talking to archer, and how timid is better for zam

Well I see a lot of Zam and I decided to add Jirachi in my team as special sponge to counter it (plus i needed a counter to fairy type)
I'm wondering if Chansey is not better tho. Because I already have Staross and I really fear all the Weavile/Bisharp/Ttar out there
Chansey's good, but not suited to all team archetypes really.

What's a staross?
The French name for Starmie

Both are total momentum killers for me, even on less offensive teams. Which is why I try not to use anything less offensive than like balance.

Also is it just me or does no one actually use Diancie-Mega despite how good it actually is?

Mega Diancie is good, but Scizor, Weavile and other priority users give her serious trouble, has a hard time mega evolving and she has trouble competing with other megas.

I wouldn't be surprised if Diancie falls to UU tbh.

I don't know about Diancie. Even with Pokemon like Scizor you need to bring them in safely and chances are you're going to need to revenge kill it, which implies that you have to trade KOs in the process. I'm in general not a fan of this whole "revenge kill everything" attitude and it's something that bugs me especially when it comes to Pokemon like Thundurus, where even Smogons strategy dex states, that your best bet is revenge killing, or residual damage, as there doesn't seem to be any counter per se.

Hoopa on the other hand, is a completely different story and I can easily see it dropping, thanks to its terrible defense and speed and the fact, that it's completely outclassed by its Unbound form. I really have a hard time trying to figure out a way to make it work, outside of a Trickroom team, because even with a Scarf, to patch up its speed, it doesn't seem to be too overwhelming.

I'm more interested in Hoopa-C. While its stats are inferior and having a x4 weakness to Dark and Ghost, combined with a terrible base 70 speed stat, is far from great, pairing it up with Bisharp looks like a good idea. It resists both Dark and Ghost type attacks, while Hoopa grants the team a fighting immunity and at the same time Bisharp makes up for Hoopas defense, while Hoopa has a superior special defense stat.

M-Punny is still going to ruin your day, though. Because even with a Scarf and max speed, Hoopa isn't going to outspeed it, unless for whatever reason, Punny runs Adamant over Jolly.

I once ran Protect Bisharp to screw over M-Lopunny lol

but yeah that thing is a rattata, Clefable is a pretty good partner to that core, since it can check it fairly well and also deals with Pursuit trappers (bar Scizor but I'd lure that thing with HP Fire on Hoopa)

Yeah, while it's true that Adamant is viable with Mega Lopunny, Jolly is still the preferred nature to take advantage of its excellent Speed tier.

ok i liked AM's post saying "serperior isn't moving up" but i then got curious of WhiteQueen assault vest serperior set and i realized this thing shouldn't be in a-. the set beats assault vest tornadus-t as it wears itself down by switching into leaf storm and stealth rock, eventually falling to +2 hidden power rock which does around 43% from my experience. giga drain is something i played with on the same set and it lets you completely rip through passive teams because it lets you negate status damage such as scald burns and keeps you healthy to tank hits. also pretty much the rest of specially based metagame faster than serperior loses when packing an assault vest set such as raikou, mega alakazam, and starmie's life orb ice beam only does around 66% while you heal yourself back with giga drain. coba berry, miracle seed, and leftovers sets are good as always. i ran it with magnezone and it is just ridiculous how this thing completely invalidates balance teams with proper support which you don't even need much of. you can run hidden power [fire], but i was just experimenting with rock. fire is generally better if you are limited on teamslots anyways. the one thing i see is people just throw a serperior on their team but don't support it which is why the common thought is it is an a- 'mon. look at the rest of the a- rankings and serperior is better than most (if not all) of them.

being able to set-up by attacking is way to good to be a- to be honest allowing you to take advantage of weakened 'mons while boosting up. i propose a rise to a rank because i think that wq kind of over exaggerated with a+ rank. i know no one is going to agree with me, but i'll give it a shot.

e: also would like to put out there that tornadus-t is a mukty check to serperior. idk why people call it a counter when it can get paralyzed, misses hurricane, and overpredicts causing you to lose more 'mons in the process or just stack up more damage on your so claimed "serperior counter"
but i then got curious of WhiteQueen assault vest serperior set

I've been looking for mons that could be interesting for potential future teambuilding projects and while doing so, I encountered a question that I'd like to get an answer for: How reliant is Manaphy on Rain support?

I get, that Rain gives its Water type attack an additional boost, which in conjunction with one or two Tail Glow boosts makes it even more of a frightening threat. Additional Hydration allows it to get rid of status conditions.

But do I really need Rain support, when trying to build a team with it?

it isn't at all. tail glow + 3 attacks manaphy is an extremely potent breaker-sweeper. that said, it definitely has sets that use and benefit from rain. tg + rain dance + 2 atks is perfectly viable, and rainrest (rain dance and rest) with tg + scald or surf is also perfectly usable. it depends on its teammates really. (for example, running tg + 3 atks makes more sense on a team in need of a breaker and balance breaker, while the rain sets tend to be more reliable win cons.)
