Grass- Venusaur. It's got an awesome design, and it's fun to use. In every generation, it gets much better.
Water- Feraligatr. I already loved this guy before the physical/special split was introduced, because it's awesome, badass, and creatively designed.
Fire- Talonflame. A huge step up from the generic birds. Gale Wings makes it even better.
Bug- Volcarona. This thing never disappointed me against the Elite Four.
Normal- Dodrio and Staraptor. These birds are fast, strong, and while Staraptor is Sinnoh's early bird and gets Close Combat, Dodrio gets Drill Peck and it can be found early on in some ROM hacks.
Dark- Greninja. At first I was kinda disappointed that it didn't get the Fighting type I hoped it'd get, but its stats, movepool, and overall badassery got me over it.
Psychic- Starmie. It's a really fast, strong, and versatile Pokemon.
Ghost- Chandelure and Gengar. Chandelure because it has a great offensive typing, a nice design, and a pretty good movepool. That was enough to make me use it in Pokemon White, White 2, and Volt White.
Poison- Gengar. He's strong, fast, versatile, and I can't stop loving his design.
Ground- Swampert. Thanks to its typing, stats, and movepool, it's one of the best Water and Ground Pokemon out there.
Rock- Tyranitar. Who wouldn't love a dinosaur with a lot of power and bulk?
Steel- Ferrothorn. Its typing, stats, ability, and movepool make it an excellent stall Pokemon.
Electric- Pikachu and Raichu. I just can't choose between either of these cuties.
Ice- Lapras. It's really cute, and great in the first generation.
Dragon- Garchomp. This Pokemon is an awesome badass, with or without sandstorms.
Fairy- Togekiss. Not because it's a paraflincher, but because it's a cute and fluffy paraflincher.
Fighting- Lucario. This guy has everything a sweeper needs, from a good typing to a great movepool.
Flying- Salamence. It's a great mixed attacker with great attacking stats and with moves like Dragon Claw, Earthquake, and Flamethrower. I also really love its design.

Grass- Sceptile's super fast and his design is pretty reptilian which is cool in my books.
Water-
Fire- Speed Boost Blaziken has been one of the coolest additions in Pokemon imo. Definitely brings it out of Infernape's shadow.
Bug- Heracross is BA.
Normal- Arceus is the God Pokemon. Should there be another reason?
Dark- Bisharp's godly swords dance + sucker punch is glorious.
Psychic- Alakazam. I really enjoy its design but the 3D design makes Alakazam look sort of... odd.
Ghost- Gengar. Hands down Gengar. NO QUESTIONS Gengar. Gengar was my first competitive Pokemon ever and I treasure my shiny one.
Poison- Nidoking's design really caught my eye when I first began Pokemon.
Ground-
Rock- Tyranitar is an absolute beast. My entire reason for starting Pokemon Silver was to have a Tyranitar.
Steel- Scizor wrecks all. Priority Bullet Punch + Swords Dance + Resistant to pretty much all = God-mode.
Electric-
Ice- Lapras. No reason besides me enjoying its design.
Dragon- I'd say Salamence/Dragonite/Garchomp performance-wise but I freaking love shiny Gible so Gible.
Fairy- Xerneas was my intro into Ubers Tier battling. Power Herb Geomancy is broken.
Fighting- Lucario is pretty solid, both in design and usefulness.
Flying- Noivern is a train and you are a person tied on its tracks. Your going down.

Grass- Serperior, it looks truly regal and Leafstorm is a nice 140 BP STAB Nasty Plot when it has its hidden ability
Water
- Suicune - its shape/diamond based design is simply pleasant on the eyes
Fire- Reshiram -
again it's very aesthetically pleasing to look at, especially with the white fur, feathers and light blue eyes.
Bug- Volcarona - red, orange and blue complement each other very well. So does yellow, purple of the shiny design
Normal-
Ditto - I love its face and it's utility with Imposter in battle
Dark- Absol - The disaster Pokemon has elegant white fur, a slender body and together with the sickle shaped horn it is pleasant to look at.
Psychic- Latias -
She's pleasant to look at with the red and white and has some utility in battle with high stats. Plus soul dew is sparkly and crystalline and also nice to look it. Her shiny is golden - again it is a warm and interesting colour.
Ghost-
Aegislash. I want to pet the tassle. Sadly I don't own X or Y :P
Poison-
Scolipede. I've never raised one but the legs are adorable.
Ground- Wooper. For some reason I like that smile. And the pink is nice on the shiny.
Rock-
Aggron. Never raised one, but the white, grey and blue is nice and it's quite adorable.
Steel-
Skarmory. It's based on the Stymphalian birds, an awesome concept and it's also quite adorable.
Electric-
Luxray. It's fierce and regaland combines two of my favourite colours - blue and gold.
Ice-
Articuno wins. I just love its colour, tail and the diamond shaped design of its crest feathers. <3
Dragon-
Altaria. It's adorable and fluffy and its shiny is gold.
Fairy-
Sylveon is a bamf dragon killing troll.
Fighting-
Breloom is just adorable and murderous.
Flying- Masquerain. It looks nice, but it looks weak so I never use it.

Grass - Sceptile is a cool Pokemon. It's fast and not to mention one of my very first Pokemon as well. :)
Water - Azumarill. It was my highest levelled Pokemon in my team on Emerald, and my HM slave too for some reason. Now, Azumarill is a fun Pokemon to use - especially with its new Fairy typing.
Fire - Ninetales. I admit there are better Pokemon to use out there, Ninetales doesn't really have a great movepool. However, the portrayal of her being a 1,000 year old kitsune is really interesting. I'd love to see it get Ghost or at least Psychic as a secondary typing of hers.
Normal - Smeargle. :d I never used one, but I like its design and Sketch.
Psychic - Reuniclus, deffs. Outside Trick Room, he's painfully slow but that didn't stop me from training one. Also Magic Guard + Life Orb = win.
Ghost - Ninetales Chandelure. I admit to having second thoughts when I caught Litwick, but I didn't regret catching him! Chandelure is fun to use, like Azumarill. I haven't really anything else to say.
Poison - I like the designs of Seviper, Arbok, Ariados and Roserade is a strong one to use. However, Crobat takes the throne for me. I rarely use Poison types, but Crobat is fast, sleek and cool.
Ground - Flygon, Rhyperior and Golurk were good and helped me out loads. I can't choose between the three.
Rock - Aggron. I don't know why though. The design probably?
Steel - Skarmory was an old favorite. I spent countless hours on the ashy road near Fallarbor looking for one. xD; Skarmory has a great design
Electric - Luxray is also a favorite, ranking up high in my list. Every time I play a Sinnoh playthrough, I always find time to look for a Shinx. Luxray is overall a cool Pokemon.
Ice - Dewgong because of its appearance. :) I also like Froslass and Spheal, though.
Dragon - Altaria has always saved the day for me. I never really understood why she was a dragon, but it adds to the cool factor.
Fairy - Togekiss. She's fun to use, too. ^^
Fighting - Gallade is just amazing.
Flying - I have no solid favorite here. I've used lots of flying types, and I can't really just choose one. Swellow, Pidgeot, Braviary, Staraptor, Noctowl and Honchkrow all do it for me. :)

there is no fire like passion

Grass-

Venusaur
is a tank!!! He is the easiest starter to train up and can get any type of job done.

Water-

Lapras
is one of the most reliable Pokemon that I've ever used and it's probably the easiest Pokemon to obtain for it's rarity and power level.

Fire-

Charizard
is my oldest friend and my absolute favorite Pokemon. Training one in the original Red Version taught me responsibility, perseverance and the value of hard work.

Bug-

Scizor
looks so cool. It can take a hit and the Technician ability makes the most of it's basic learn-set.

Normal-

Ursaring
is an absolute powerhouse. There's really not much more to say.

Dark-

Tyranitar
is a Pseudo-Legendary Rock Godzilla. What more needs to be said

Psychic-

Espeon
is the perfect mix of cuteness and power.

Ghost-

Gengar
is the King of Ghost types. When you think of Ghost Pokemon, he's the one that comes to mind.

Poison-

Crobat
is one of the best examples of how an extra evolution can really help the usability of an often overlooked evolution line.

Ground-

Krookodial
can be summed up in one word: Moxie.

Rock-

Tyrantrum
is a T-Rex with a Dragon Typing. Without a doubt the coolest looking and one of the most powerful Pokemon to come out of Gen 6.

Steel-

Lucario
is one of the most usable Pokemon from Gen 4 go on. It's also got one of the more unique dual typing in the game.

Electric-

Ampharos
has proven to be one of the most reliable Pokemon in the game since it's debut in Gen 2. It's very fun to use.

Ice-

Beartic
is in the same camp as Ursaring. It's an ABSOLUTE MONSTER!!!!

Dragon-

Garchomp
is the one of the most conceptually interesting and powerful Pokemon that I've ever used.

Fairy-

Gardevoir
has proven to be one of the best Psychic types prior to gen 6. It is for some reason the only Fairy Type (other than maybe Sylveon) that I like aesthetically and could stand to use.

Fighting-

Infernape
is based off of Sun Wu Kong. THAT'S AWESOME!!! I know I'm in the minority here, but I think it's quite the improvement on the fighting chicken.

Flying-

Dragonite, like most other Pokemon on this list, has proven to be quite the powerhouse and has come through me when needed.

This list was very difficult to make, but... here we are. Let's get started. Before I begin, I will refer to each Pokemon as "he" or "she" as I see them. So, bare with me.

Grass-
Maractus is such a darling Pokemon. By the way, you'll see me saying "darling" a lot. She's a very cute Pokemon, and I like the design. It's very different, as she doesn't have legs, but does have arms. I'm a big fan of cacti Pokemon, like Cacnea and Cacturne, but Maractus wins it. I especially like that she can even become her own set of maracas. One of my top six Pokemon.

Water-
Ah, Starmie... one of my personal favorites. Such a cool Pokemon. Very powerful (which I'm not usually a fan of for JUST power), and beautiful at the same time. I think it would be a great contest Pokemon, for Misty, possibly. ;)

Fire-
Not really what I'd normally expect, but yes, even I have a thing for AN Eeveelution. Flareon pretty much wins it, because it's exterior is... cute, but tough. If that makes any sense. That, and I used to prefer Fire-types when I was younger.

Bug-
Toxy, Toxy, Toxy. <3 My lil baby, she's my favorite cute Pokemon. I loved watching Jessie's Dustox in the anime, and even teared up a bit during her final episode. >: One of my top six Pokemon.

Normal-
Come on. You can't help but want to hug him. I love this thing, and it's pre-evolved form. He's definitely a childhood favorite, and a strong Poke to boot. Again, a personal favorite.

Dark-
I love cats. This thing... I love 'im. <3 Liepard is definitely interesting, and I really like the color scheme. It definitely gives the "rogue" appearance, and if you know me well enough, rogues are a-okay in my book. ;)

Psychic-
Oh, Hypno. You creepy mother frumper. I love him, and he's a top six Poke. He's definitely one of my top six for multiple reasons, one of which being from a favorite Creepypasta. That, and it's "ability" (I quoted, because it can't actually LEARN Dream Eater levelling up, but the Pokedex entries read so. >_>) to feast on dreams, like it's pre-evolved form. Again, a very personal favorite.

Ghost-
Absolutely fabulous. Sporting those gems with such finesse of a Ghost-type. One of my top six Pokemon, he's a little imp, he is. I loved using one in my Emerald playthrough. Very fun, I must say.

Poison-
The quintessential Poison-type, if I do say so myself. And, as a fan of Poison-types, Arbok holds a very special place in meh heart. From the anime, to the trading card, to the games, I always loved Arbok. One of my top six, obviously. ;P

Ground-
Claydol is a very interesting Pokemon, and I really like it. I would like to try using one in a future playthrough.

Rock-
Definitely my favorite fossil Pokemon, though I wish it had a pre-evolved form that was cute, but had the same teeth. That'd be so... amazing. <3 It's powerful, it's intimidating, what more could you ask for?

Steel-
Ah, yes. The temperamental tower of Steel that is Steelix. It definitely holds a presence of power, and I had fun using a Steelix in my previous plays. Both in game and looks, it's a winner in my book.

Electric-
Something cute and adorable? Strange, I know, right? Well, Ampharos, Flaffy and Mareep hold a very special place in my memories. I was born the year of the sheep, and it just so happens these Pokemon were introduced around the time I figured that out. Not only are they adorable, but I love using them in battles. And now that Ampharos has a Mega form, I love it that much more.

Ice-
The wall of ice, the not so nice, though it will suffice. Yes, Cloyster is definitely a favorite of mine, and I used it in a playthrough AGES ago. I like Shellder too. Such a silly face on it, but I like how it evolves into this hulking, snarky wall of ice. I love him.

Dragon-
Behold, the power of Hydreigon. I called a Dark/Dragon-type out befor eGen. V came to be, and... I got my wish in spades. Hydreigon is definitely a ferocious Pokemon, and I love her. She's definitely a Pokemon I'd want to use when I finally get a 3DS again.

Fairy-
Mawilesocuteomg. no, but seriously, Mawile NEEDED an edge in the game, and being given partial Fairy-typing AND a Mega Form? She definitely got the respect she deserves, and she's a personal favorite. Not a top six, but still. I want to use one in a future playthrough.

Fighting-
Never really got into using Fighting-types after Platinum, but this Pokemon has a certain draw I can't seem to get a grasp on. It's a good look, and it's powerful too. I'unno, maybe I'll use one.

Flying-
And lastly, my lil' Mandy. <3 Definitely a personal favorite, along with Vullaby. Such a cutie. <3 This is another Poke I want to use in a future run.

Grass- Servine, don't really know what to say other than it's just soo cute in Amie, and one of the few grass types I used before (besides it's pre evo and it evo the other grass type I used is Leafeon)

Water- Floatzel! I love otters, my #1 reason that it's very high, learns all my favorite water attacks, love all it's animation movements in Amie.

Fire- Braixen, the first fox-based Pokemon I fell in love with, also being part psychic gives me a variety of attacks to choose from, it's voice (cry) is so cute

Bug- Scolipede, not really into bug Pokemon, but by it's design (and choosing one for type category) Scolipede is the bug Pokemon I"m more willing to try out

Normal- Watchog! For me, no other Pokemon compares to Watchog, being normal type it can learn a wide variety of attacks, most beautiful Pokemon I ever seen, no wonder it will forever remain my #1 favorite Pokemon - being part weasel part meerkat it mixes my top 2 favorite real world animals and mixed them into one = out came Watchog

Dark- Liepard, just love her design, her voice (cry) in Kalos, just so beautiful to listen too (I could spend hours just listening to that voice) - it was the first dark type I ever used and thanks to both Purrloin and Liepard introduced me to dark types

Psychic- Meowstic, I love the female's design more than the male's design, it was also the first psychic Pokemon I ever used, and really started to love and use more Pokemons of this type - my love of felines is another reason I love it... a psychic cat!!

Ghost- Banette, not much into ghost types, but I will be willing to give Banette a try, at least it's design looks really creepy and evil, just how I image ghost types to be

Poison- Skuntank, main reason is that I love skunks (in real life) and I also like poison types, just love it in Amie

Ground- Sandslash, not really much a fan of ground types, but I'm willing to give Sandslash a try, out of all of the Pokemon with ground as one of its types, is the one I like most by design (similar with it's pre evo Sandshrew)

Rock- Tyrantrum, rock types, one of my least favorite types, maybe if I give Tyrunt and Tyrantrum I might like the type

Steel- Cobalion, as with rock, not much into steel-type Pokemon, so Cobalion might be the Pokemon I like by this type

Electric- Luxray, I love cats, and having an electric feline was good news for me, along with its two pre-evos (Shinx & Luxio)

Ice- Glaceon, just love Glaceon's (beautiful) design, love that voice (cry) it has and she is just too cute in Amie

Dragon- Reshiram, not much into dragon types but Reshiram is the one that I like by it's design the most

Fairy- Sylveon, my most favorite of all fairies, such a beautiful design, it always seems to be smiling and makes me smile every time I see Sylveon - even if I"m having such a bad or sad moment or am very anger, as soon as I hear that voice and see it smiling makes me smile back and forget that I was sad or angry

Fighting- Mienshao, a fighting weasel! I love weasels! #1 reason I love Mienshao! and it's my #2 favorite Pokemon of all times, and thanks to Mienshao (and it's pre-evo Mienfoo) introduced me to fighting types, its just so cute in Amie, and it's voice (cry) in Kalos! All of her strong fighting attacks always makes me keep one in my teams.

Flying- none, 2nd type flying Emolga, not really into flying types (my least favorite of all the types), the one that sort of fits in is Emolga, as it is a flying squirrel, and I love squirrels

took me so long to do! I had to look at some Pokemon by types since I couldn't come up with Pokemon - at least others know what kind of Pokemon I like, and why I like them.
I ♥ Foxes and Cats!! - art i drew myself
instead of 'Catch 'em All' for me would be "gotta Pet 'Em All"

Grass - Venusaur. My first starter.
Water - Gyarados. Fast, powerful sweeper in OU.
Fire - Charizard. He's badass just like that.
Bug - Volcarona. Unique typing, and very useful despite double weakness.
Normal - Arceus. God. Need I say more?
Dark - Darkrai. My all-time favorite Pokémon.
Psychic - Alakazam. With that IQ, I don't get how he can't learn more than 4 moves yet.
Ghost - Shedinja. Wonder Guard + Focus Sash = Win
Poison - Toxicroak. Only because of competitive.
Ground - Mega Garchomp. idk I don't really like Ground types that much.
Rock - Tyrantrum. SERIOUSLY LOOK AT THAT AWESOME BEAST
Steel - Skarmory. The only Steel type I'd use. It's an awesome wall and does a great job setting up spikes.
Electric - Pikachu. PIKAAAAAA!
Ice - Kyurem. Frost Breath and UU.
Dragon - Dialga. imo the coolest among the Creation Trio. Also, since he controls time he could stop his opponent from ever existing.
Fairy - Xerneas. Because Xerneas is a moose, and Canadians are awesome.
Fighting - Lucario. SSBB. His Mega form is pretty epic too.
Flying - Ho-Oh. Because rainbows are pretty.

With great difficulty I shall try to narrow this down to one per type lol :)

Normal - Azurill or Minccino, both based on their cuteness, I've actually tried to have both on two separate teams in those forms cause I didn't want to evolve them but it didn't work haha
Fire - Ninetales, it's elegance speaks for itself and is my all-time favourite Pokémon
Water - Vaporeon, favourite Eeveelution and I've tried to have one on my team any time there's been an Eevee available
Electric - Manectric, been my favourite ever since Hoenn, I hadn't really been as drawn to electric types before then
Grass - Sceptile, I used a Torchic on my first Emerald run-through and it didn't feel right, restarted and picked Treecko and my world was changed forevermore haha
Ice - Dewgong, super elegant, just really like its design
Fighting - Hitmonlee, such a boss, Mind Reader + Hi Jump Kick basically destroys all haha
Poison - Arbok or Skuntank, I love snakes haha and I had a Skuntank in Diamond which was super useful
Ground - Nidoqueen, one of my best teamplayers in SoulSilver
Flying - Swellow, first time I saw it I was like YAS this is the Pokémon for me haha
Psychic - Kadabra and Uxie, Kadabra mainly cause I never had anyone to trade with haha so I never grew to like Alakazam as much and I used old Kadabra on a lot of my teams :) Uxie I'm just really drawn to, I remember using one a lot in contests on Diamond haha
Bug - Venomoth, such a beast, really love its design and tend to use one whenever I can
Rock - Rampardos or Crustle, for being such integral parts of my Sinnoh and Unova journeys respectively
Ghost - Haunter easily, like Kadabra and the no-trading thing, always preferred it to Gengar, plus I LOVED its personality in the anime
Dragon - Dragonair or Rayquaza both for their long and sleek designs
Dark - Umbreon or Houndoom, Umbreon as the first ever dark Pokémon I used and Houndoom for being an utter boss, at least looks-wise haha
Steel - Durant, I had one in one of my Unova games and it was pretty useful
Fairy - Clefairy and Dedenne, Clefairy's always been one of my faves so when it became typed as a fairy it was only natural it'd be a fairy fave haha and Dedenne's just super cute

This gets so hard with all the duo types ;o;

Grass
- Bellsprout. I've talked about this a million times on here.
Water
- Staryu. Love the simple design/great to use/nostalgic for me.
Fire
- Blaziken. Being the only newly introduced fire type I really liked when Hoenn debuted I abused this Pokemon. One of my favorites to use.
Bug
- Forretress. I raised one out of curiosity once and came to love it. Such a unique Pokemon and so much fun to use.
Normal
- My favorite used to be Clefable and now that it's no longer a normal type I don't have much of a strong second contender. I'd say Blissey for obvious cute and useful reasons.
Dark
- Another hard one for me because I don't find myself using or liking dark types that much. I'm going with Shiftry though. I love grass types and Shiftry was a nice change from cute looking plants to something more creepy.
Psychic
- Hypno. Idk how much this holds true anymore. I mean I always will love Hypno but there are more interesting combinations and designs when it comes to psychic types I just haven't used them all enough to know for sure.
Ghost
- Banette. I fell in love with it instantly. I think Banette's one of the few Pokemon that is actually creepy. Wish it had better stats even it's mega can be disappointing to use sometimes.
Poison
- Tentacruel. Used it before the fairy type was introduced and thought it worked well and then faries came along and now it's even more useful.
Ground
- Putting Steelix here because I love too many steel types lol.
Rock
- Cradily. unique typing, love the design.
Steel
- Mawile. I love the idea and the design omg. The poor thing should of gotten better stats from the start and I kind of wish it had an evolution over a mega, but I'm glad it has something now.
Electric
- Raichu. This is an odd type for me because I love to use it, but not many of the Pokemon in the type speak to me I guess? I think Raichu just might be a nostalgia thing for me.
Ice
- I fricken love Jynx. Fun type combo.
Dragon
- Kingdra. I think this thing is so cute and different design wise from a lot of the other dragons. I tend to lean towards the dragons that don't look so dragon like.
Fairy
- Clefable/Florges. Clefable has been a favorite of mine forever, but having not used it as a fairy yet idk if it would be my fav in this category. I did use Florges though and I LOVED it. The fairy/flower design speaks to me on so many levels omg lol.
Fighting
- Machamp. Never stood out to me until I had a Machamp with no guard and dynamic punch.
Flying
- Dodrio. I surprise myself that I love this thing. I love the high speed and attack mostly, but something about it is also silly that I enjoy.

Spoiler:

Just pretty bad-ass for a bug-type.

Because it's cool and cute at the same time.

Used to be my favourite TCG card.

It's pink and its design isn't extremely creative, yet I like it a lot.

Gave one to an OC and it's really grown on me.

Not even sure why I like Mankey, haha.

My first ever starter and instant favourite. I've really become attached to it.

One of my favourite Pokémon since I trained one my sister gave me year ago.

Bit of a tossup between this and Drifloon. I think its design is cute, though I'm not a fan of its evolution.

If I have to choose a grass-type, I always seem to go for Jumpluff. I just think it's pretty cool.

Vibrava was one of my favourites in Sapphire and I was determined to get one.

For some reason I don't like many ice-types. Lapras is pretty cool though!

Furret's just got a nice design, especially for such a common Pokémon.

I just love Nidorino/Nidoran and the opening on the RGB games.

I just think it's cool and I really like its hands, haha.

Never realised how little I liked rock-types until now. Carbink is probably the first I genuinely like.

Aggron just has a nice design, especially compared to Lairon which is kinda meh.

Really cool design and typing.
