After watching Youtuber Shofu, I have decided to play pokemon competitively. The problem is, I don't know where to start learning. I already know about ev training, but thats it.

Where do I learn? Where do I start?

On Youtube, JWittz and Tamashii Hiroka have informative videos on EV training and IV breeding and if you check out Marriland's website (google it) he should have a good guide to competitive battling.

Most of all though, you should check out Smogon.com. That's the premier website for Competitive battling.

As a side note, I don't think that this kind of thread belongs here. It would seem more at home in the Battle Center forum.

Pokemon General doesn't actually deal with any topics that are strictly about the games, including competitive battling, so I'll move this over to Battle Center where staff and members can help you out a little bit more.

And if you wouldn't mind Rorey, please use the report button next time rather than bringing it up in a thread- it makes dealing with things like this a lot quicker. Thanks!

MOVED.

Smogon.com is where you want to go for singles competitive. For VGC competitive, you want to go to NuggetBridge.com.

I think the first thing to decide is what format you like playing. Most people (including myself) start playing singles with Smogon's rules, and usually in the OU tier. However, I would suggest giving the VGC format a try as it is super fun and adds another layer of strategy compared to singles, as there are four pokemon on the field! It also means you can participate in local tournaments, which is always a lot of fun. Anyway, decide what format you want to play first. VM me if you need any help, I'd be happy to assist! :)
