Introduction
Long ago, a war broke out in the United States. People became selfish, ignorant, aggressive, dishonest, and cowardly creatures. The war devastated the United States in a way they had never seen before. The survivors created a new type of government, called the faction system, which consists of five factions. The faction system was designed to eliminate the bad character traits that led to war, every faction has their own beliefs and responsibilities. A list of the factions along with a description is provided below.

The Factions
Abnegation: Aslo called "The Selfless", they believe that the primary cause of conflict is selfishness. They are selfless people, who always put others before
themselves. They tend to eat plain food, and wear gray clothing. They are basically the "lead" faction, controlling food supply and making decisions for the city. Abnegation members tend to be humanitarians or politicians.

Amity: Also called "The Kind", they believe that the primary cause of conflict is aggression, thus devoting their lives to living peaceful lives. They are very
generous people, who always have a smile on their face. They don't care much about their appearence, and they don't like violence or arguing. They usually wear multi-colored clothes and eat natural foods. Amity members tend to be farmers or motivational speakers.

Candor: Also called "The Honest", they believe that the primary cause of conflict is dishonesty, therefore devoting themselves to living truthful lives. They are honest people, who always speak their mind. They believe that being open and honest with people eliminates conflict. They wear white and black clothing, and don't care much about what they eat. Candor members tend to be lawyers, judges, or politicians.

Dauntless: Also called "The Brave", they believe that the primary cause of conflict is cowardice, and devote themselves to being brave people. They believe in standing up for others, and controlling your fears. They usually wear black clothing and many Dauntless members have tattoos and piercings. They tend to be police officers or soldiers, which is why they are referred to as "The Military Faction".

Erudite: Also called "The Intelligent", they believe that the primary cause of conflict is ignorance. They dedicate themselves to the pursuit of knowledge and understanding. They tend to be very smart, observant people. They never turn down a chance to learn something new. They usually wear blue clothing, and like some of the other factions, they don't care much about what they eat. Most Erudite members become researchers, teachers, or scientists.

The Aptitude Test
When people turn sixteen, they are required to take a test that will tell them which faction that would fit them best. After taking the test, these people go to a choosing ceremony, where they choose what faction they will transfer to, or if they will stay in their current faction. When choosing a new faction, people abandon their families and friends from the old faction and basically start a new life.

There are also people called "The Factionless" who don't fit into any faction, they live as homeless people depending on the kindness of others. People who are Divergent fit into more than one faction, and are percieved as a threat by the government.

Roleplay Info
This roleplay will focus on the Dauntless faction. More importantly, we'll be focusing on their initiation process, where new members are tested to see what jobs they will be given as Dauntless members. There are three stages of Dauntless training, listed below with details. Some tests were taken from the book, while others were added by me to add variety and improve the feel of the initiation process. The initiation will last for about eight months in igt (in-game time). After the initiation stages are over, you will be assigned your Dauntless job. I've added some of my own personal twists to the initiation and the Dauntless faction traditions, but still keep a lot of Veronica Roth's creations as well.

Three Stages of Inititation
Stage #1: Physical
Your body will be pushed to its limits, you will train everyday for a long period of time. This stage will prepare you for the physical requirements needed for
your Dauntless career.

Stage #2: Mental
Your mind will be tested beyond its breaking point, you will be deprived of sleep and food for a short period of time, the longer you can go without going
insane, the better your score will be.

Stage #3: Emotionall
Your fear will be challenged during this phase, you will be put into a simulation that pits you against your worst fears. The quicker you can overcome your
fears and defeat them in the simulation, the better your score will be.

Story
You are a new Dauntless member, you will be going through training with your fellow initiates. You will meet friends, and enemies. It is up to you how you will adapt to your new faction. Your instructor serves as your trainer and mentor, and you are required to submit to them and do as they say. Who you are during your initiation will shape your future in Dauntless.

Dauntless Faction Manifesto
This explains why Dauntless was formed, and what their goals/beliefs are. The manifesto is the spoiler below. Dauntless members tend to do reckless things, like zipline from skyscrapers, climb tall buildings, or jump off of things. They don't waste time on manners, and they hate cowardice. They tend to be very intimidating.

Setting
In the city of Chicago, Illinois, the location of the faction system. The city is surrounded by a giant electric fence. The city has some areas that were ruined by the war, and are currently undergoing construction. There are few cars in the city, most transportation is done by foot or train. The roleplay will start at the train station outside of the choosing ceremony, with two of your instructors waiting for you to arrive. From the train station, we will travel to the Dauntless headquarters. The instructors will tell you when to board/get off of the train. Some training sessions may be outside of the compound somewhere else in the city.

The Dauntless headquarters is located underground, it has a cafeteria, living quarters, multiple training rooms, and a center location called "the pit". The pit is a large area where people gather for celebrations, training, competitions, events, announcements, etc. Once inside the Dauntless headquarters, you must cross an unrailed bridge over a chasm to get to any of the rooms.
