How do you react when someone says something bad about something you like?

I generally just tell them it's there opinion, and ignore them when they bring up that topic anymore.
"Life is so wonderful, Life is so beautiful, just smile, no one gets out alive."
"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world."
"Everybody wants to go to Heaven, but nobody wants to die."

"A man said to the universe,
'Sir! I exist!'
'However,' replied the universe,
'the fact has not created in me a sense of obligation.'

It depends.

With my family, friends and coworkers, they get what kind of person I am so I will feign overly dramatic emotional assault and tell them they don't know what they are talking about. They get that I am just kidding and I get they have they're opinions.

Strangers though, i tend to be more straightforward and just accept the differences. Sometimes a person might be up for discussing it, sometimes not, so I just go with the flow there.

I get very defensive and try to win with persuasion and words and then depending on what it is and how badly they are dissing it I may resort to my fists or just give up.

Depends on what it is. If its something I really, really like, I get defensive and try to persuade them to like it. If they don't like it after I try to get them to like it, then...

If it isn't something I'm passionate about, I just dismiss it it's whatever ok that's great.

i dont really care. i just kinda sit there and am like "okay"

tbh i think its really stupid to get offended when someone says they dont like a thing you like. for example, a band or something. i dont get why people get so hotheaded about it. i can understand if, for example, they're talking about your friends or family, but if its about material things, why do people care so much? idk i just never understood it.

My boyfriend is the type to get upset if I criticize something he likes and I just don't get it. Maybe I just don't have the same kind of passion for things that he does.

I do struggle with the passion thing so when someone criticizes something I like, I assume either I'm wrong about how good it is or we just have different opinions and move on. Even my favorite things as far as media goes I'm not that attached to, so I have an easy time allowing it to just roll off my back. I only get upset when the criticisms aren't warranted - once a woman on a train looked at the anime I was watching and told me "I don't like anime. They're all so sad. Look at their eyes!"

I pay no mind and ignore it, or at least remember that it's just their opinion. I'm usually calm about people making fun of things I like i.e. Touhou, them saying they don't know it or something like that. I know that nobody knows of the series. It's...kind of obscure, to be honest, so I understand why they wouldn't know. I won't cause a scene over it, I'd just carry on with life.

I can get a little upset, but I don't confront people about it, and I don't care about it in the long run. People like different things, and that's okay! I'm not wasting my time trying to change people's opinions on the little things.

I'm with Poki, it's how they put it across. If it's like "omg only a retard would like that", then yeah, i'd get annoyed, but people are entitled to their opinions of things, and if everyone liked the same thing then the world would be a pretty dull place.

Sometimes I get upset, but more often than not i'm capable of respecting others' personal views and opinions. Unless their reasoning behind hating it I feel is REALLY stupid, in which case I feel the need to go on a long lecture about why I totally disagree with everything they have to say. cough people who think BW are among the best Pokémon games ever and then say the story in BW2 kills the whole game and don't even bother to discuss any other aspects of it cough

Unless it's something very personal to me, I won't be bothered in the slightest. I might make a snarky remark or two, but that's the extent of the attention I pay.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion so I never really take offense to people badmouthing anything in particular. Although ignorance is another story to which I still probably wouldn't say anything explicitly, but I'll be judging them so hard internally, and giving them the stink face look.
