Would you like to see southern island expanded in the ruby/sapphire remakes?

I think it would be a good idea to add some more features to the southern island (maybe expanding it so it can be explorable) in the ruby/sapphire remakes and also be able to fight the mega evos of the lati twins, like they holding already their mega Stone and finding the soul dew in the spot we actually fought them or viceversa fightning their normal forms.

Yeah, the Eon twins were really a nice feature, but it was kind of tedious to get the second one, considering the first one always roams about. The mega evolutions and the soul dew are a bit clashing, but I guess we can fight their mega forms, and get the Soul Dew somewhere further in the expanded island, having to explore a bit.

Considering they are expected to be full remakes, we can presume Southern Islands to return...
And imo they won't want to pass up the chance to use MEGAs =)

I'm guessing Mega [email protected] would have a connection with X and Y since the item hasnt been introduced yet officially. I'm guessing you get a [email protected] in ORAS and get the stone in XY and trade them either to XY or ORAS? I dont even know.

I think you should be able to fight Latios/Latias and then get a mega stone after you catch one of them. Like Mewtwo in X/Y. Then after exploration, you get the Soul Dew from the champion by talking to the champion who is standing at the end of Southern Island.

Sweet. ;)

This is what I'm thinking too. Since they have been found in X and Y through hacking, they weren't released yet. Why not? I'm thinking it's because of these remakes. So they MUST have some sort of connection. I can't think of what, however.

If this is true, does that mean that they aren't going to be available to catch in OR and AS? That wouldn't make much sense since they are remakes. I'm not sure really. Maybe you can get the Mega stones in X and Y and in order for them to be Megas in the new games?

I agree the soul dew/ latites would be clashing, but maybe the soul dew can be the mega stone for them? It may not fit the theme of mega stones, but all the soul dew was used for in RSE/Hg/SS was the activation for the battle of the Lati you werent already entitled to.
It may make sense to use it for something else - as it is the Lati's signature item and is also spookily similar to the idea of a mega stone...

sounds good and also have a pokemon battle with him, like he using the mega evolution of one of the twins depending on the version and recieving the mega Stone as a prize for defeating him. I wondering if it would sound interesting too if you face your rival instead of the champion having a team including the other twin (full 6 vs 6 battle) or maybe having to face archie or maxie from team aqua or magma respectively. maybe including some subplot in southern island to spice things up.

maybe they were just added into xy game data to avoid crashing or something and to have compatibility with other games like what happened with some previous games who had data of pokemon, ítems or places that were not released in the games but actually added in later versions. and it would be strange if they don't add the eon twins in the remakes, it would make no sense.

sounds interesting that idea, but probably the developers would prefer to have two separate ítems for them to give more options to the player to whether use the mega Stone or the soul dew, or maybe they will just make the soul dew an event ítem (again) to Access southern island and have the mega Stone for the signature ítem and stat booster.

They've already implemented Latiosite and Latiasite in X&Y's coding iirc, so it would be pointless to combine it with Soul Dew. A subplot revolving around the southern island is something I never thought of, though. I really agree to having the rival as the champion because the rival in RSE was really incompetent and didn't even fully evolve the starter. So definitely, maybe.

Maybe SoulDew will be surrounded by the two Mega stones deeper in the island. When we pick up the Mega stone of the opposite lati, or the Soul Dew we're attacked by the opposite Lati we have.

Wonder if the Lati in the game will be determined like in RS or like in Emerald (by selecting the color of the Pokemon seen on TV)

it would be good to be able to choose wich one you want like in emerald, but i think they will do it more like it was in the original version making them version exclusive since it's a trend in the pokemon game series. Hopefully they will let us choose like in emerald and get the other one later in an event. I think it could be also possible they make southern island reachable as a post game area, but they will most probably follow the trend of making the twin we didn't choose only accessible after we get an ítem (soul dew maybe) to actívate the battle with the other twin.

Maybe I'm saying something really stupid now, but what if [email protected] was put in XY when the first patch released and that it wasn't planned to be revealed before ORAS came out?

I'd be very surprised if the Mega [email protected] didn't make their debut in ORAS, I'm almost fully expecting them to implement the Mega Evolution concept into these games and making the [email protected] a major part of this.

Yes I'm thinking the same. But I was saying that before ORAS was revealed everybody was thinking about when the [email protected] was coming. And that it could be that Gamefreak didn't want to reveal [email protected] in XY but in ORAS and they put it in the patch. Because they use XY mechanic as a base for ORAS, don't they?

What about that thing in the center of the Southern Island forest?

I was thinking the same thing, i guess they use some aspects or data structure from previous games and incorporate them to the current generations, so maybe they will take some from the 3gen as a guide or map for places and other stuff and try to incorporate then into the data structure/format used in xy.

It was a Stone that triggered the battle of the twin we didn't choose (emerald) or was from the other version (r/s) and had a message after the battle. I guess they will implement it in the remakes as well.

It would be interesting to have the forest expanded so that we can explore it and make it look a Little like the secret spot the twins had in alto mare from the pokemon movie, maybe add a misty/foggy atmosphere to the place like it was in mt. pyre before the battle and it clears up after the battle.
then when revisiting it be able to go deeper into the forest and explore more to find any related ítem to them or someone giving it to us.

Maybe they can add the feature of either latios or latias shapeshift or create an illusion making us think they are humans and later find out their true identity.

Just like BW is said to have had data on a Kyurem forme as well as Keldeo forme. However they also had the Kami formes which weren't in the data (that we know of). It's possible something similar will happen this time with Mega Evolutions.

Ontopic: I'm hoping they add the story of the Soul Dew into the games. It's kind of a strange item in that it's the soul of a fallen Latios(/Latias?)

It's likely any sort of area like that will be expanded. The way GameFreak now structure their events for their legendaries (since Generation 4) we've seen more of a story attached. In Generation 3, you kind of hop on a ship, walk up a stairs, see a Legendary Pokémon. There was no real quest about it, and I think we'll see that change. I reckon they learned from their mistakes when it comes to event Pokémon, if you look at how much more went into Darkrai's story when you go to meet it, you see that the direction GameFreak have started to go in involves a lot more "events" to the event Pokémon. The same goes for Victini and so on.

We may not see an expansion of Southern Island (or any of the event areas), so to speak, but I reckon we'll see the events surrounding them fleshed out a bit better.

Yes I think so. Like making a ROM hack and changing everything but keeping the mechanics and engine.

I think Generation IV handled their events the best. We could capture them ingame (after obtaining an item of course) and battle the legend in order to catch it. It was a more rewarding experience than BWB2W2 and I'm assuming XY events turned out to be. Also unlike Gen III events they had story like you said.

I also hope they add the islands to the map as I don't think they were on the map at all...Hoenn could have some of it's islands on the map used...

I agree, since gen 4 they started giving background story to the event legends, that started to give meaning of why they exist and the effects they have in the pokemon world. Arceus was one, if not the most, with more background story when you were searching for the plates and some extra stuff they added in hgss. And lets not forget keldeo and his relation with the other musketeers. They should definitely give more background story to the soul dew and the twins, like what's the true purpose of the soul dew and the mechanism behind it's creation, the role the twins play in the pokemon world and why they reside in southern island.

I at least hope that they have something in-game like Keldeo did. Getting legends in Wi-fi with nothing else is bland and makes the legends seem unlegendary.

Ooh, sounds like a good idea. I hope they put something about the item in there. Maybe there will be a [email protected] caretaker on the island, and we get to talk to them briefly for a bit like the Zoroark event?

It'll be cool to see the Latis talk to us, after all they can take human shape among other shapes according to their dex entry and their appearances in other media (at least Latias has).
